Jsp:destroy called on undeploying application

Hi all,
Each time I undeploy an application on Weblogic Portal 4 (running on WLS 6.1)
, it calls the jsp:destroy which gets rid of all compiled JSP classes. The result
being that after restart, it takes a very long time to get the web pages up after
recompiling all the JSP's which havent changed at all. Is this a property that
can be set? How can I change it?
Thanx Jose

Hi Yogesh,
          You can set a workingDir in your weblogic.xml to point to a directory
          outside the webapp docroot. Something like:
          <jsp-descriptor>
          <jsp-param>
          <param-name>workingDir</param-name>
          <param-value>c:\jspworkingdir\webapp\</param-value>
          </jsp-param>
          </jsp-descriptor>
          This way you can prevent the jsps from being deleted in your server temp
          dir.

    You may want to try precompiling the jsps. Try adding the lines below in weblogic.xml:
    <jsp-param>
    <param-name>precompile</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </jsp-param>

    Hi,
    With precompile option it takes a long time (almost 2 hours) to restart server as it compiles each jsp again. Is there any option by which I can avoid deletion of compiled jsp classes?

  • How to store a JSP file in the SAP Application server ?

    Hello All,
    My reqt. is as follows :
    1. I need to store a JSP File on the SAP Application server .
    How can I do this ?
    2. I want to call the uploaded jsp file from the server and call this jsp from abap to view the result of it .
    How can I achieve this ?
    First of all is this possible ?
    Regards,
    Deepu.K

    Hello Mike,
    Thanks for ur reply.
    I've imported the JSP as a mime object into the BSP.
    Now I've created the page to show that Mime Object as an image.
    But nothing is coming as an output.
    But then,there is an option for that mime object. i.e when I right click on the mime object there is an option called " convert to BSP".
    I selected that option and it created a view in my BSP .( My BSP is a page with flow logic application )
    Now how should i make this view to be an output ?
    I guess this shud be posted in the BSP Forum ...but still taking a chance here :)-

  • Error on Undeploy:  Application with name "crazy" does not exist.

    I am working with Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0 Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.
    I have applications that run fine, however when I click on the undeploy, I get the error below. Please keep in mind that this is a simple sample application -- no security. Just one form with reading an HR schema table. Just a sample to try and figure out why I am getting this error. Any ideas?
    1. I have deleted the system folder (repeatedly)
    2. I deleted out my entire C:\Users\stuart\AppData\Local\Temp directory (someone mentioned this in another post)
    3. Reinstalled Jdeveloper.
    Thank you,
    Stuart
    PS, the application is called crazy because that is what this error is making me!
    I have included the start of weblogic too, just in case that sheds some light on this issue.

    Frank,
    Thank you for your answer. I had not checked (will do so tonight).
    I had considered it adequate to wipe out the entire system directory (thereby wiping out the integrated weblogic server), but perhaps it was not adequate? I did not specify that this is on the integrated server, but that is the case....

  • Call a Portal Application from WebDynpro

    Hi experts,
    i hope you can resolve my problem!
    My intention is to refresh the browser and call the first page of the portal after the portaluser pressed a button in an WebDynpro application.
    For this purpose i create a portal application with an JSPDynPage and an JSP how call the  JavaScript Method "top.location.reload();".
    My question:
    How can i call an portal application in a WebDynpro onAction Event?
    Thanks,
    Florian

    1)Creat one action method "ReactPortalEventing" with the parameter dataObject and write the code in wdDoInit method as
    //the urn and method name like "sendEvent" both should be same
    WDPortalEventing.subscribe("urn:com.abc.practice","sendEvent",wdThis.wdGetReactPortalEventingAction() );
    2)and in the action method display the name as
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Event value"dataObject);
    also chk it

  • How to call a struts application in a portlet

    How to call a struts application in a portlet. I have two different ear's. In one ear I have my struts application and in one war i have a struts portlet. In the struts portlet provider.xml defaultAction tag can i call the action class .do which in other ear (ie my struts application ear).Can anyone suggest me whether this is the right way or else can u suggest me with some other thing.
    Waiting for ur responses.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Dhanu.

    Hi Dhanu,
    Your Struts Portlet will not be avialble via a URL as it is completely dependent on Oracle Portal Environment. The Provider for the Portlet is alone available via a URL - you would have registered your Portlet using the URL of the Provider.
    Your Struts application, which does not rely on the Oracle Portal Environment, is defeitely accessible from a URL. It's just another web application that uses the popular Struts Framework.
    Hence, you can use the URL ( the starting point - a JSP, Servlet, etc. ) of your Struts Application to "call" the application in your Struts Portlet. I don't think you need to fiddle with the parameters in Provider.xml.
    Moreover, <defaultAction> in Provider.xml should have the URL of a Struts Action Class - the mapping in the
    struts-config.xml should map the .do action to the right JSP file.
    You can have a look at Metalink Note : 331069.1 for a good insight into the <defaultAction> Tag.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

  • How to retain portlet preferences when undeploying application

    Hi,
    we have a requirement where we configure portlet preferences for each portlet instance in a page through admin console.
    we use these preference values to retrieve content from VCR and display in portlet jsp.
    The problem here is when we undeploy application and install it again all the preferences configured in the admin console will vanish.
    Is there any way to retain these values even when we undeploy application.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    There are two ways you could do this: put the preference values in your .portlet files or use the propagation tool to move the customized portlet instances to your new deployment.
    Putting the preference values in your .portlet file can't be done from the administration tools-- it must be done from the IDE or manually editing the files-- so I'm guessing it would not solve your problem.
    For more information on using the propagation tool, see:

  • Access a jsp which calls j2ee app of a appserver from a webserver

    Hi,
    I am trying to call a j2ee application which is running on a appserver like weblogic from a webserver.
    Is it possible to run like this?i am executing the jsp in tomcat server which has its datasource in weblogic 7.the code is as follows...............
    <%!Connection conn=null;Statement stmt=null;ResultSet rs=null;
         public void closeConn(JspWriter out) {
              try
                   rs.close();
                   stmt.close();
                   conn.close();
              catch (Exception ex)
                   System.out.println("Exception while closing");
    %>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*,javax.naming.*,java.util.*,weblogic.jdbc.common.*"%>
    <%
    try
         System.out.println("get initial context");
         weblogic.jdbc.common.internal.RmiDataSource ds=null;
         Hashtable ht=new Hashtable();
         ht.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
         System.out.println("after factory setting");
         ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"t3://10.11.32.120:4001,10.11.32.120:6001");
         System.out.println("after provider url setting");
         Context ctx=new InitialContext(ht);
         System.out.println("after initial context set");
         ds=(weblogic.jdbc.common.internal.RmiDataSource)ctx.lookup("MyDS");
         System.out.println("after datasource set");
         conn=ds.getConnection();
         stmt=conn.createStatement();
         rs=stmt.executeQuery("select * from purchaseorder");
         while(rs.next()) {
              out.println();
              out.print("POID="+rs.getInt(1)+",");
              out.print("ITEM="+rs.getString(2)+",");
              out.print("QTY="+rs.getInt(3)+",");
              out.print("DATE="+rs.getString(4));
    catch (Exception ex)
         System.out.println(ex.toString());
    finally {
    try {
         closeConn(out);
    catch(Exception ex) { System.out.println("Error while closing"); }
    %>
    ...I am getting the following output.......
    get initial context
    after factory setting
    after provider url setting
    after initial context set
    java.lang.ClassCastException: weblogic.jdbc.common.internal.RmiDataSource_WLStub
    Exception while closing
    so the problem is at the retrieving the datasource from the initial context which is looking in weblogic7.
    i want to know whether this experiment would work.........i tried by using the
    weblogic.jdbc.common.internal.RmiDataSource instead of javax.sql.Datasource which we normally use when we execute the same jsp in weblogic.I also put the weblogic.jar also in tomcat's classpath.
    could anyone throw some light on this topic.Any help would be appreciated
    Kiran chandra.k

    Hi Kiran,
    Looking at the code you sent and the error, it looks like you should be casting the ds object to a javax.sql.DataSource object not a weblogic.jdbc.common.internal.RmiDataSource object.
    You may find some useful info at the following URL:

    Hi Oliver,
    unfortunately I know nothing about BSP-Applications, but this is how I call my WD4A-Application using a FM from CRM:
    data: lr_empty_parent type ref to cl_gui_container,
          lr_viewer       type ref to cl_gui_html_viewer.
    data: lv_url(200)     type c.
    lv_url = 'http://www.xyz.com'.

          dp_install_error   = 3

      endif.
      lr_viewer->detach_url_in_browser(
        exporting
          url              = lv_url
        exceptions
          cntl_error       = 1
          dp_error_general = 2
          others           = 3 ).
      if sy-subrc <> 0.
        message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
                   with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
      endif.

    If it helps you - fine. If not - forget it

  • Need to run VI on boot or call from other application

    I am looking for the most basic way to get Labview to run a VI upon bootup or call from another application (without having to hit the run button on the toolbar.) I would rather not have to build an application; I don't want to buy the professional version. I want my data acquisition to recover from a power outage reboot and keep going without human intervention. Is there a way to build an init that launches the VI in run mode? A colleague of mine has convinced me labview is the way to go for a new experiment, but this is one stumbling block that needs to be resolved. Thanks for any help you can give.

    i have used the startup folder to run labview vi's on several machines and it *can* work just fine.
    however, sometimes there is a timimg problem and i get the message 'vi not found,' then labview usually loads the vi and runs - but leaves the error message, which can cause problems with later operations.
    today i had this problem with a 3.4 G HP machine running Win200. Labview 7.1 & DAQmx.
    my work around solution is to use the *MarcroScheduler* program. i call a it from the startup folder. it does the following
    (a) start Labview 7.1
    (b) wait 1 minute
    (c) execute the vi.
    without the wait state, Labview 7.1 will not run the vi properly.
    good luck with your applications.

  • Calling a Webdynpro Application in using WDURLGenerator.getApplicationURL

    Hi,
    I have to call a webdynpro application in an external window using the application name. Please note that no iViews are created out of the application which i am going to call.
    I have DC1 and DC2 and from the Comp Controlller of DC1 , i need to invoke the application in DC2.
    String depObjectName =wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart().getDeployableObjectName();
    WDDeployableObjectPart depObjectpart=WDDeployableObject.getDeployableObjectPart(depObjectName,"TestApp",WDDeployableObjectPartType.APPLICATION);
    String url = WDURLGenerator.getApplicationURL(depObjectpart) ;
    window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(url,"Test View");
    window.show();
    Is this the correct API to get getDeployableObjectName which is in the different DC.
    Please let me know the correct API which i can use to get the getDeployableObjectName and the subsequently the Application which is availbale in the different DC.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Chintan Virani,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Is it possible to get to know through the APis that the Webdynpro Application Deployed in the server is started.
    I hope some API's will be available.I need to open this application only when it is started.
    I tried this,
    IWDDeployableObject deplObj = WDDeployableObject.getDeployableObject("TestApp");
    if (  deplObj.getState() == WDDeployableObjectState.STARTED ) {
        // do something
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to create deployable object TestApp' since it is not a Web Dynpro object.    null

  • How to call an applescript application from Office 2011 Excel VBA

    All:
    I have been pounding my head how to implement a working VBA application into the Mac environment. I have tried a number of approaches calling applescript from VBA. I would like to call my applescript application and pass one argument. My applescript application is as follows:
    <code>
    on run argv
    set theURL to (item 1 of argv)
    set p_path to do shell script "echo ~"
    set m_path to POSIX file p_path
    set theName to text -((offset of "/" in (reverse of characters of theURL) as text) - 1) thru -1 of theURL
    set theFile to (p_path & "/Downloads/" & theName)
    set macPath to (POSIX file theFile)
    do shell script "/usr/bin/curl " & theURL & " -o " & quoted form of POSIX path of macPath
    end run
    </code>
    My last attempt within VBA is:
    <code>
    Sub SaveMetaDataFile(URL As String, shortFileName As String)
    Dim scriptToRun As String
    Dim posixcmd As String
    posixcmd = ThisWorkbook.Path
    scriptToRun = "tell application " & posixcmd & ":MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app " & URL
    MsgBox "[" & scriptToRun & "]"
    MacScript (scriptToRun)
    </code>
    I first tried to call the script directly without the "tell application" and I still obtain an error. I also tried the following in VBA and I get the same error with the last lane of code:
    <code>
    scriptToRun = "set theURL to " & """" & URL & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set p_path to do shell script " & """" & "/bin/echo ~ " & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set m_path to " & """" & posixcmd & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set theName to " & """" & shortFileName & """" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set theFile to (p_path & " & """/Downloads/""" & " & theName)" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "set macPath to (POSIX file theFile)" & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "do shell script " & """" & "/usr/bin/curl " & """" & " & " & " theURL " & " & " & """" & " -o " & """" & " & " & " quoted form of POSIX path of macPath"
    MsgBox scriptToRun
    'scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "do shell script " & """/usr/bin/curl """ & " & " & " theURL " & """ -o """ & " & " & " quoted form of POSIX path of macPath"
    MacScript (scriptToRun)
    </code>
    The above code is from the applescript application. The applescript application works well using the terminal via osascript. For example:
    xenas-imac:Census Work Xena$ osascript MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app http://www2.census.gove/acs20095yr/summaryfile/Sequence_Number_and_Table_numberLookup.xls
    xenas-imac:Census Work Xena$
    The whole goal is to download a file into the Download directory from Excel to allow the next step to import the file into Excel for the user. Any help here would be great!
    Thank you;
    Lori

    Update:
    Ok have the module almost working and matches the syntax within the test applescript I had created, but the VBA code via the MacScript() call is generating an invalid procedure or argument call. The following is the test applescript to compare the created string to be passed to VBA MacScript() function:
    <code>
    set appPath to quoted form of POSIX path of "Macintosh HD:Users:Xena:Desktop:Census Work:"
    do shell script "/usr/bin/osascript " & appPath & "MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app " & "http://www2.census.gove/acs20095yr/summaryfile/Sequence_Number_and_Table_numberLookup.xls"
    </code>
    The following is the VBA module that generates the above word for word as far as I can tell:
    <code>
    Sub SaveMetaDataFile(URL As String, shortFileName As String)
    Dim scriptToRun As String
    Dim posixcmd As String
    posixcmd = ThisWorkbook.Path
    posixcmd = posixcmd & ":"
    scriptToRun = "set appPath to quoted form of POSIX path of " & Chr(34) & posixcmd & Chr(34) & Chr(13)
    scriptToRun = scriptToRun & "do shell script " & Chr(34) & "/usr/bin/osascript " & Chr(34) & " & appPath & " & Chr(34) & "MetaDataFileDownloadScript.app " & Chr(34) & " & " & Chr(34) & URL & Chr(34)
    MsgBox "[" & scriptToRun & "]"
    MacScript (scriptToRun)
    End Sub
    </code>
    The message box in the above VBA code matches my test applescript file and I have taken the output of the MsgBox and used it in a test applescript and it works great, but VBA is throwing "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument".
    Looking at Microsoft's definition it takes a string argument and I have made sure that scriptToRun is a string type, so at this point I suspect there is something wrong with the MacScript() funciton, or I am missing something above. Is there another way to call an applescript application from VBA outside the MacScript() function? Or is there something I am missing? Any help or suggestions is needed.
    Thank you;
    Lori (CodeXena)
