  • Couldnt solve/explain this jsp/mysql error

    in one of my page that makes the table i have these codes :
         String a = "CREATE TABLE inv"+invId+" (";
         String b = "itemId int(5) NOT NULL, ";
         String c = "itemSerial varchar(255), ";
         String d = "itemAsset varchar(255), ";
         String e = "itemComments varchar(255), ";
         String f = "itemModel int(5) NOT NULL, ";
         String g = "itemStatus int(5) NOT NULL, ";
         String h = "itemEnterDate date NOT NULL, ";
         String i = "PRIMARY KEY (itemId))";
         String makeTB = a+b+c+d+e+f+g+h+i;
         SQLStatement3.executeQuery(makeTB);
    then the other processing page is suppose to delete it :
    String prefixId = request.getParameter("objectId");
    String confirmId = request.getParameter("confirmId");
    if (prefixId == null) {
         out.println("prefixId == null");
    else if (confirmId == null) {
         out.println("confirmId == null");
    else {
         String delPrefix = "Delete from itemPrefix where prefixId="+prefixId;
         SQLStatement.executeQuery(delPrefix);
         String dropTB = "Drop table inv"+prefixId;
         SQLStatement.executeQuery(dropTB);
         response.sendRedirect("invConfirm.jsp?object="+confirmId+"&msg= has being deleted.&url=invAddPrefix.jsp");
    the problem is when i created the table
    i checked it, and it exist so theres no problem there
    but when i attempt to delete it thru running the jsp page,
    i got this :
    javax.servlet.ServletException: General error: Unknown table 'inv8'
    before dropping the table i did a "select * from inv8" in the query of mysql and it exist
    however got that msg when i try to drop that table thru jsp
    (that message usually appear when the table doesnt exist only)
    wierd thing is even when this error appears that table is dropped successfully too
    i dont know wads causing that error to pop up
    can anyone help me ?

    Don't know if this will help but when executing DDL statements (create, drop, alter) and DML statements (insert, update, delete) you should use executeUpdate() instead of executeQuery().

  • JSP + MYSQL question: input form value into a SQL table

    Hello,
    I am writing some JSP code to read input information from a input form to write this information into a SQL field.
    My problems are:
    - how can i pass the input form information to other jsp file ? (like Getproperty of something like this)
    - how can i move the content of any input information into a variable ? I mean something like this:
    String a1;
    username.value.of.the.input.field.in.forum_jsp = a1.in.addmessage_jsp;and then:
    int rowsAffected = stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO forummessages (messagecode, " +  " usercode, " + " messagedate,  " + " message) VALUES(6,3,06/07/2007,'" + a1 + "')");------
    The SQL table looks like this:
    stmt.executeUpdate("CREATE TABLE forummessages (messagecode int AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, usercode int, messagedate date, message char(255) not null)");My codes are:
    forum.jsp - this one should pass the input information to addmessage.jsp

  • Jsp + mysql + tomcat40

    Hello
    Im having a problem with the db connection using mm.mysql-2.0.8-bin.jar.
    A Servlet Exception Has Occurred
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
    An error occurred at line: 1 in the jsp file: /dbcon.jsp
    Generated servlet error:
    C:\Tomcat40\work\localhost\IKT\dbcon$jsp.java:13: Type expected.
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
    As you see the is an type expected error. I have no clue for solving the problem. Anyone??
    The dbcon is included in another jsp page, thats why the is a lack off html code.
    # dbcon.jsp
    <%! Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"); %>
    <%@ page import = "java.sql.*"%>
    <%! Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/db_Prosjekter?user=root?password="); %>
    <% Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    String sql = "Select * from tbl_prosjekt";
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(sql); %>
    <html>
    <body>
    <% while (rs.next()){ %>
    <%= rs.getString(1) %> <BR>
    <%}%>
    </body>
    </html>

    Havnt tried it jet, but that shouldnt matter since its the connection thats dependent of java.sql.
    Class.forName() is a standard statement and no import is needed for it to be used
    But, u'l never know so I will try

    JSP : Tiles Error tag.getAsString : component context is not defined
    Im working with Struts 1.1 and Tiles, under Tomcat 5.0.16
    My application works fine using Struts 1.1 alone, however, when attempting to run the application in a Tiles environment, I get an error:

    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Error - tag.getAsString : component context is not defined. Check tag syntax

    I have defined this in my tiles-defs.xml file, and as far as I can tell, everything else is configured properly (I have looked over the included Struts document examples, and others on the web, and I seem to have everything configured identically).
    What am I missing???
    I have created a series of mostly empty JSP files, for simplicity sake.

    I found an entry in the Mail Archive for Struts. I got it working. My working code is below. You need to in the base JSP import the header and put the 'title' out to it.
    tiles:def file:
    <!DOCTYPE tiles-definitions PUBLIC

    <put name="content" value="${content}"/>
    <put name="navbar" value="/common/navbar.jsp"/>
    </definition>
    <definition name="petstore.Login" extends=".petstore.Base" >
    <put name="title" value="Login Page" />
    <put name="content" value="/Logon.jsp"/>
    <put name="test1" value="test1value"/>
    </definition>
    base tile def:
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-tiles.tld" prefix="tiles"%>

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
    <title>pet store common (jsp)</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <tiles:insert attribute="header">
    <%-- both of these attributes are accessible from header.jsp It works!!! --%>
    <tiles:put name="title" beanName="title" beanScope="tile" />
    <tiles:put name="test1" beanName="test1" beanScope="tile" />

  • How to see JSP compilation errors - Tomcat 4.1.18- JDK 1.4

    Hi There,
    I'm kind of new to JSP world, so once in while I forget to put a ; or I put a variable name wrong (I usualy use Eclipse to do my coding in JAVA, but the existing plugins for JSP development are still in their early stages, so there's isn't any plugin that indicates errors on JSP before deploying them).
    When I try to see a JSP, if it has an error (compilation-time error), I get this message:
    <--->
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
    An error occurred at line: -1 in the jsp file: null
    Generated servlet error:
    [javac] Compiling 1 source file
    <--->
    This doesn't help me a lot to fix the problem, I would like to, at least, see from what line the error came from.
    Help anyone?
    Thank You
    Pinho

    This kind of errors often come from syntax error in
    the jsp page.
    Tomcat is not very friendly with this kind of errors.
    A trick is to open the java file under the 'work'
    directory and checkIsn't there any way to show the error on a page, just like a run-time error?
    Maybe changing some log setting?

  • [Help] Replace MySQL error message

    In insert form, I want to post a especial error message, instead of mysql_error
    here an example:
    if ((isset($_POST["MM_insert"])) && ($_POST["MM_insert"] == "insert_form")) {
      $insertSQL = sprintf("INSERT INTO stuff (title, numbers) VALUES (%s, %s)",
                           GetSQLValueString($_POST['titla'], "text"),
                           GetSQLValueString($_POST['numbers'], "int") );
      mysql_select_db($database_connection, $connection);
      $Result1 = mysql_query($insertSQL, $connection) or die(mysql_error());
    cause i get an error like cannot be null
    Thanks.
    [Subject line edited by moderator to make it more meaningful]

    If you want to replace the MySQL error message, you can put your own error message in quotes in the die() command. Change this:
    $Result1 = mysql_query($insertSQL, $connection) or die(mysql_error());
    to this:
    $Result1 = mysql_query($insertSQL, $connection) or die('Database error');
    However, that's not very helpful to a user, because all that will be displayed is "Database error" with no indication of what caused the error or any way of returning to the page, except by using the browser back button.
    A better way of handling things is to remove the or die(mysql_error()) section of code altogether and replace it with a PHP conditional statement that sends the user to an error page if the SQL fails for any reason. However, making these changes will prevent you from making further edits to the server behavior through the Server Behaviors panel.
    $Result1 = mysql_query($insertSQL, $connection);
    if (!$Result1) {
      $insertGoTo = 'error.php';
    } else {
      $insertGoTo = 'another_page.php' // <-- this is the original $insertGoTo line

  • JSP Debbuging -Error: 'class' or 'interface' expected-

    Hi,
    Does anybody know why am I getting the following error when trying to either debug or run a JSP?
    Error: 'class' or 'interface' expected
    This happens with JDeveloper 9.0.2.829
    It was running just OK, when running from the Navigator Panel (Right click -> Run test.jsp)
    But, when I tried to run the JSP from the Debug Icon -that debugs the whole project-, I got the error I already mentioned.
    Thanks in advance for your help

  • MySQL error (2002) in Windows

    I'm using Dreamweaver 9 in Windows with a Apache, PHP5 and
    MySQL4.1. My webserver works fine. But Dreamweaver can't create
    database connection to MySQL. It gives me a MySQL error 2002 and
    referes to that /tmp/mysql.sock is missing.
    What should I do to get this to work? Am I missing something
    here? MySQL Query tool etc all work fine. But Dreamweaver can't
    connect to MySQL for some reason.

    localhost and 127.0.0.1 are the same thing. All you need is
    "localhost"
    or "127.0.0.1" (without the quotes). The "via UNIX socket"
    and "via
    TCP/IP" are simply descriptions of the type of connection.
    They are NOT
    part of the server address.
