JspCompileException when deploying very simple webapp

I've made a very simple webapp in Eclipse, just a simple index.jsp, source code below:
<%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"
pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1"%>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1">
<title>SSO Test Application</title>
</head>
<body>
Congratulations, you have accessed the Oracle page!
</body>
</html>
The application works fine in Eclipse, running in the OC4J Standalone Server 10.1.3.n plugin.
When I deploy the EAR file to our application server, which is an 10.1.2.0.2 running on a Windows machine, I get the following error when trying to access the JSP:
500 Internal Server Error
OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
Errors compiling:D:\OracleASOID\j2ee\OC4J_WS_POC\application-deployments\SSOTestOra\SSOTestOracleWAR\persistence\_pages\\_index.java
error: error reading ..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\jlib\..\j2ee\home\..\..\lib\xmlparserv2.jar; Het systeem kan het opgegeven pad niet vinden
1 error
The final message is in Dutch ("Het systeem kan het opgegeven pad niet vinden"), it basically translates as "The system cannot find the specified path".
My hunch is that the path is too long, but I am wondering why the AS would try to build such a long path. It looks as if it is chasing up and down the directory tree all the time.
Any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks,
Rik Gruwez

Update
I have done some more research and the problem is apparently due to using a different JRE. In the Server Properties of my OC4J instance, I can set the Java Executable under Command Line Options. If I specify no Java Executable, the application server will use the one in its installation directory. In my case this is Java 1.4.2_06-b03. In that case, the JSP compiles OK and I can let my application run.
However, I want my application to run in a Java 5 (1.5) environment, so I make it point to a Java5 JRE. I do this by mentioning a Java Executable D:\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\bin\java.exe. As soon as I do that, I get the JSP compilation error mentioned in my initial post.
Any idea?

    Yes, the problem is that the ejb-jar must contain at least one ejb component. It's a common misconception that Java Persistence API Entity classes are ejb components but they are NOT. The Java Persistence API was developed within the EJB 3.0 JSR and works very well with EJB but the entity classes themselves are not full-fledged ejb components.

    Hello,
    I am using Oracle Warehouse Builder 11g SE to try to implement a simple data warehouse.
    I have created the dimensions and cube using ROLAP, defined simple mappings and added process flow and was now trying to deploy the objects.

    Hi,
    it seems like DB init parameter "query_rewrite_enabled" is set to its default: FALSE. Check out this article on the same on how to avoid this error:

  • Errors when deploy a simple entity ejb module to oc4j 10g?

    I work as following steps:
    1. new project
    2. new Digram-->EJB Diagram
    3. Drag a Entity bean ico to Diagram and name it with Student, then add a id&name column to it.
    4 set the entity-ejb Student's Resource Reference's property: name(MysqlPool),ResourceType(com.mysql.jdbc.Driver),Authentification(Container)
    (in oc4j, I have set the pool connection--MysqlPool)
    5 use command to start oc4j 10.1.3 in jdev10.1.3

    what's the meaning about Error finding a suitable DataSource: Error looking up cmt-datasource at jdbc/OracleDS (name not found)?
    I didn't use jdbc/OracleDS Datasource, and I deleted it from config\data-source.xml.
    Is it cause those errors or my operation rong?
    Who can tell me the entity ejb's deploy method&step?

    Yes, now I added a connection pool and a datasource in oc4j, and set the datasource's jndi name to "jdbc/OracleDS".For The connection pool,I use the mysql database.
    Followed the above operation, I repeat the deployment and it deployed successfully.
    Viewed by web-control-for-oc4j, I found jdeveloper automaticly created a datasource and pool for the ejb module.However, the datasource's parameter(connection-factory factory-class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource") is wrong.
    So I open Tools Menu->Preferences menu and setted the Deploy property to "unbundle datasource...".Then I Created a file named data-sources.xml in project and filled out the correct properties.
    After I deploied the ejb-module, I openned the deploied .ear file with winrar to view its contents.I found the factory-class property's value is still wrong which included in data-sources.xml file in Mata-Inf directory,but the property of the data-sources.xml file in .jar file is correct.So, the class factory value of the deploied ejb-application's connection pool still is "oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource".It couldn't work surely.
    Of course, I can modity the data-sources.xml in .ear file.
    But has some more better method to settle this problem while not manuelly?

  • Error occurs when deploy my App to iPhone OS2

    Hi, I am a newbee in iPhone development.
    I have met a problem when deploy my simple application to iPhone OS2.0
    I create my app via XCode, by using the framework in iPhone SDK.(The SDK is the latest version, I downloaded several days ago)
    After I succeed in deploying the application into the iPhone simulator,
    I try to deploy my application to a real iPhone OS2.0
    I know I need sign the binary before deployment,
    so I create a certificate named "Test1" via "Keychain Access".
    Then I add a "New Run Script Build Phase", contains the statement.
    CODESIGN_ALLOCATE=/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/bin/codes ign_allocate codesign -s Test1 -f ${TARGET_BUILD_DIR}/${EXECUTABLE_FOLDER_PATH}/${EXECUTABLE_NAME}
    Then switch the project to iPhone Device / Release Version.
    Build, no error
    When deploying to iPhone, I got error,
    Here is the detail from Console .

    Can anybody help me?
    Is it necessary to pay $99 at http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/apply.html?
    Is there any article tell me how to deploy step by step?
    Thank you very much

    Yes, it is necesery to pay the 99 dollars.
    For that money you have access to an internet suite that allows you to create certificates.
    These certificates are needed to test your software on the real device as well as deploy the software through app store

    Yes, you need to add a servlet -mapping element and adjust your form to submit to the appropriate URL mapping.
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>HelloWorldServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/servlet/Hello</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

  • Very simple question about webapp list layout.

    Hi Everyone!
    I am having a very simple issue. I have created a web app and it has a default list layout looks like:
    <table><tbody><tr><td>{tag_counter}. {tag_name}</td></tr></tbody></table>
    I have placed web app module (using {module_webapps,14273,a} ) in one of my page. In front-end it has show every thing fine except it shows table tag for each item:
    <table>
        <tbody>
            <tr>
                <td>1. <a href="/lot/lot-101">Castlepoint Lot 101</a></td>
            </tr>
        </tbody>
    </table>
    <table>
        <tbody>
            <tr>
                <td>2. <a href="/lot/efg-lot">EFG Lot</a></td>
            </tr>
        </tbody>
    </table>
    <table>
        <tbody>
            <tr>
                <td>3. <a href="/lot/some-lot">Some Lot</a></td>
            </tr>
        </tbody>
    </table>
    <table>
        <tbody>
            <tr>
                <td>4. <a href="/lot/some-other-lot">Some Other Lot</a></td>
            </tr>
        </tbody>
    </table>
    When I delete table and tbody tags from list view, it stop showing table related tags instead it start showing it without any tag.
    How to correct this issue? Please help!!!

    Here is what you can do:
    -edit the webapp list layout via FTP or via the "alpha" File Manager. The WYSIWYG editor will attempt to "correct" your HTML code. Enter something like this:
    <tr>
    <td>
    {tag_counter}. {tag_name}
    </td>
    </tr>
    -on the page you need the listing placed on enter this code:
    <table>
    <tbody>
    {webappmodule here}
    </tbody>
    </table>
    When the page renders you will get the desired result:
    <table>
    <tbody>
    <tr><td>1</td><td>Item1</td></tr>
    <tr><td>2</td><td>Item2</td></tr>
    <tr><td>3</td><td>Item3</td></tr>
    <tr><td>4</td><td>Item4</td></tr>
    </tbody>
    </table>

    Pay no attention to iinami, the amount of replies to people saying their handsets must have been jailbroken everytime iTunes throws out an error is tremendous. (Clearly you don't need to have any real knowledge to get to level 3 on these forums, let's hope apple's geniuses know a lot more than some of their customers.)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    Solution below.
    Error 9
    This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Hello, i'm creating a very simple animation in ps cs5, but when I try to transform a smart object in a frame, all the frames are affected by it. What can I do ? Thanks, Ep

    Hello, i'm creating a very simple animation in ps cs5, but when I try to transform a smart object in a frame, all the frames are affected by it. What can I do ? Thanks, Ep

    Ok, you are in frame animation mode. I thought cs5 had a timeline mode, but now I think I was wrong.
    In frame animation mode what you do is in one frame you have the object rotated in one position, then select an other frame and rotate it. If it rotates the first frame, which I think it will. Create duplicate of the object in a new layer. Then rotate the second layer.
    At this point in my example you would have two layers, one of which has a rotated object.
    Clear the frames
    Convert the two layers to frames.
    You now have two frames, one for each layer.
    Select both frames then click the tween button.
    This will create the in between frames.
    In the tween dialog box the higher the number of frames set here, will create a smoother animation but will result in a longer time frame for the animation to play.
    Because Photoshop has no way of knowing which way the object should rotate, it is feasible for it to rotate the opposite direction or could look wonky. Just undo and add an in between layer showing how it should look in the middle, then continue on.
    So your layers should be the following, a frame that shows all objects in their rest state.
    All objects that remain in a rest state must be copied to the next layer (ctrl-j on Windows or cmd-j on Mac)
    All subsequent layers are then used for rotating a duplicate of the object. (Ctrl j or cmd j)
    You will find the commands to clear the frames, convert layers to frames and tweeting in the hidden menu found when you click the small icon in the upper right hand corner of the animation panel.

  • Very Strange Problem... Missing hidden field when deployed on JBOSS

    This problem is driving me nuts. Here it is... When I deploy my app to TomCat it works fine. When I deploy to JBoss everything works except the links . When I select a link rendered via JBoss the directory containing the JSP is displayed. I can also see that my filters are not being called in this case. I compared the HTML produced by TomCat to the HTML produced by JBoss and there was one minor difference. This hidden field was not rendered in JBoss:
    <input type="hidden" name="contentView:contentForm:_idcl" />When I manually include this in the JSP and run JBoss.. It works.
    I have spent a full day trying to figure out when the hidden field is not being rendered when deployed to JBoss... I would very much appreciate any suggestions.. Thanks in advance. Paul

    Hi Paul,
    I have the same problem under deployment to WAS, all <h:commandLink>s are out of order. The hidden form field '...:_idcl' is missing in the generated JSP, but will be generated under Tomcat.
    Have you found a solution?
    Cheers, Ralf.

  • ClassNotFound when deploying JPF app on Apache Tomcat

    I have a very simple two page JPF application in BEA WL Workshop called Test1Web
    within project JohnTest1. I created an EAR file for it in another directory,
    and try to install the Test1Web application on Apache Tomcat/4.1.12-LE-jdk14.
    Apache failed to start the application because of the following error:
    2003-10-22 17:08:19 StandardContext[bea]: Error configuring application listener
    of class com.bea.wlw.runtime.core.servlet.WebappContextListener
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.bea.wlw.runtime.core.servlet.WebappContextListener
    Is there something I need to do differently when configuring the EAR to make it
    work?
    Thanks,
    John Canfield

    John,
    "Soon" is with Service Pack 2. You might be able to find an official
    date somewhere on BEA's website, but without being two specific I'd say
    expect it withing a couple of months.
    For the 8.1 release I don't know if any features other than Page Flows
    (and associated JSP tags) and XML Beans will run on anything other than
    Workshop/WLS. Do you have specific features in mind?
    Right now Workshop is optimized for developing and deploying on the
    Workshop runtime and WLS.

    Thomas,
    Thanks for your reply.
    When you say "soon", is that closer to 1 month from now, or 6 months?
    In the meantime, how do you recommend that I design apps in Workshop so that I
    can deploy on Tomcat? JPFs seem very central to the way the Workshop UI works
    -- I couldn't even get the debugger to work when I imported a non-JPF web app
    into Workshop. What is the best way to set up a non-JPF app in Workshop that
    still takes advantage of as many Workshop features as possible?
    Thanks,
    John

    John,
    Your problem is that the page flow libraries you are using in your
    webapp are WLS specific. We will soon be providing alternate libraries
    for running JPFs on Tomcat, and then your things should work as you
    expected.

  • Very simple EJB 3.0 MDB but I get NullPointerException

    I tried to create a very simple EJB 3.0 Message Driven Bean in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 as follows:
    Message Driven Bean Class:
    import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
    import javax.jms.Message;
    import javax.jms.MessageListener;
    @MessageDriven(mappedName="MDBQueue")
    public class MDB implements MessageListener {
    public void onMessage(Message message) {
    System.out.println("Got message!");
    Application Client:
    import javax.annotation.Resource;
    import javax.jms.*;
    public class MDBAppClient {
    @Resource(mappedName="MDBQueueConnectionFactory")
    private static QueueConnectionFactory queueCF;
    @Resource(mappedName="MDBQueue")
    private static Queue mdbQueue;
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    try {
    QueueConnection queueCon = queueCF.createQueueConnection();
    QueueSession queueSession = queueCon.createQueueSession

    QueueSender queueSender = queueSession.createSender(null);
    TextMessage msg = queueSession.createTextMessage("hello");
    queueSender.send(mdbQueue, msg);
    System.out.println("Sent message to MDB");
    queueCon.close();
    } catch(Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    But I get the following error:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at model.MDBAppClient.main(MDBAppClient.java:17)
    I read similar problem in the this thread:
    Re: message driven bean on ejb 3.0 does not work
    some one said that the version in ejb-jar.xml must be changed from 2.1 to 3.0
    but in this case there is no ejb-jar.xml.
    ( I have other cases with ejb-jar.xml file but I can't change the version in ejb-jar.xml)
    the version in web.xml is 2.4 but it not accept any value except 2.4 and an error occur when I tried to change it to 3.0
    please can you tell me why I get NullPointerException and how can I allow EJB 3.0 MDB and JMS to work in JDeveloper

    Note that you can't run MDBs in the embedded OC4J in JDeveloper - try deploying to a stand-alone install of OC4J and see if it works there.

    Using a java decompiler, I've been able to locate the method setVariableResolver() in the ADFContext class which ServletADFContext.java extends. This can be found in the adfshare.jar. So I have no idea why the server can't find this method when I know it exists. I thought maybe I had an old adfshare.jar and so I replaced it everywhere I found it on the app server with the jar file that comes with JDev 10.1.3 EA. But this proved to be a dead end, as well as everything else I've tried. I've even tried reinstalling the app server. Has anyone else installed App Server 10.1.3 Preview 4 on a Linux box? Is there some qwerk that you found to get it working?
    Additionally I have created a very simple project with nothing but a JSP and it works. So I'm led to believe that there is some ADF JAR file that is not quite right. My ADF Struts web project worked using the same app server on Windows 2003. However I ran into a different problem with that: BUG - Connection pooling with 10g 10.1.3 Preview 4 App Server
    So we have decided to make the move to Linux but I can't get past this error. I have updated the ADF Runtime Libraries and I've swapped out the JDK and JRE with 1.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The adfshare.jar does not get included with my app. I've checked my WAR file and this JAR is not found there. I'm completely stumped at this point. Have you had success using Oracle App Server 10.1.3 Preview 4 on Linux?
    I have made some progress narrowing down where the error occurs. When I add data bindings to a JSP, the following code gets added to my web.xml:
       <filter>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
         <init-param>
           <param-name>encoding</param-name>
           <param-value>windows-1252</param-value>
         </init-param>
       </filter>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jspx</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <servlet-name>action</servlet-name>
       </filter-mapping>
    If I delete this code out of my web.xml file, that error message goes away. The ADFBindingFilter class is also included in the error stacktrace. So I'm thinking that this class is the culprit. I'm convinced this is a BUG with Oracle ADF and Linux.
    Another idea perhaps is that the error occurs because I'm developing in JDeveloper on Windows and then deploying to an app server on Linux. My embedded server on Windows runs my app just fine. I have the same OS setup for JDev 10.1.2 and the app server 10.1.2 and I have no problems with that. But I really don't want to have to go back to 10.1.2.
