JSTL Condition Evaluation for single character string
I am facing a weird problem.
For example my JSP code is like this:
<c:set var="myString" value="S">
<c:if test="${myString=='S'}">
MyString value is S
</if>
When i execute this code it suppose to display: MyString value is S
But it is not displaying that. The if condition is not getting true
Can anybody tell me why? Is there any mistake i am making..
Thanks
KB
Sorry for typos..:-)
It is part of my actual code.
<c:set var="myString" value="S"/>
<c:if test="${myString=='S'}">
MyString value is S
</c:if>
Can you suggest me , what is wrong with JSTL here......
Thanks

Restrict condition type for single value of Kvgr1 of customer
Hi Guru,
I have a requirement in which few condiition should be picked for single value of customer group say(kvgr1-20).
I know we can create condition table and assign that field but how i can restrict it for single value.
Thabk you in advance.Hi,
Kindly do provide some more clarity in your requirement.
Few condition to be picked based on an single customer group value?
If possible give an example for our understanding.

Classic report - Condition evaluated for every row
APEX 4.2.2
I am seeing something strange in a classic report region. A report started to fail at run-time with a strange error about bad syntax. When I run the page in debug mode, I see the following
print column headings
rows loop: 30 row(s)
...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := '' is not null;
end;
......Result = false
...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := '' is not null;
end;
......Result = false
...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := 'string with a embedded ' single quote' is not null;
end;
......Result = true
Looks like the APEX engine is evaluating a boolean expression after rendering and each and every row in the report. And for some strange reason, it is using a piece of data from my query's resultset and failing because of the bad syntax introduced due to the single-quote in the string.
I have never seen this before. Any idea what is going on?
ThanksHowdy Paul, sorry should have provided all the details. No, this is a standard generic column template. Ah, you are right, drat I should have looked closer. The template has use a condition to show either a highlighted row or normal one. Sorry for the false alarm, I can take it from here. Enjoy your flight :-)

Incorrect condition evaluation for content-based routing (Receiver determ.)
Hi experts,
We have a SAP XI scenario (using web services), where we use external
definition (an imported WSDL document) of messages, which contain
elements with a default namespace. We have a problem during the
receiver and interface determination, where we use conditions.
When we use an element with a default namespace, it doesn't work (the receiver is not found), e.g. <UserRequest xmlns=http://portal.skoda-auto.com/Namespaces/PortalB2B...
When we add some prefix to the namespace e.g. ns0, it starts working
OK. Problem is, that sender application (web service client) send us
message without a prefix.
What we can do on the side XI? Can you suggest some solution for this problem?
Do you know if SAP XI has some limitation using default namespaces?
In our test system we use SOAP sender adapter and in productive we use external SOAP adapter.
We use SAP XI3.0 (SP19)
Thanks for your help!
Regards
PetrIt is OK now. We have already solved the problem. We had to correct a
wsdl and add to it <b>elementFormDefault="qualified"</b> ,
<schema targetNamespace="http://portal.skoda-
auto.com/Namespaces/PortalB2B" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:ns0="http://portal.skoda-auto.com/Namespaces/PortalB2B"
elementFormDefault="qualified" >
The receiver determination started to work correctly. (Our partner apologise for this mistaken wsdl). -
What is the correct syntax for Sumif when condition is for a text string?
B2 and b3 both contain the text "Grc".
C2 contains 1 and C3 contains 2.
F2 contains a Sumif that reads as: =SUMIF(B2:B10, "=Grc", C2:C10)
The result is "0" when it should yield 3
I can't figure out what happened.Hi ishii,
Your screen shots make no sense to me. I am using Numbers'09 on a MacBook Pro running OS X. Please tell us what device, operating system and app you are using. You still have not told us.
This forum is for Numbers on a Mac running OS X. Is your screen shot from an iOS device?
I don't know anything about Numbers for iOS.
Or are you using Excel?
I can not help you. If you are using an iPad, you will get a better answer in this forum:

Using Escape character for Multi character delimiter for flat files in IKM
Hi
I have an IKM using Jython, it is working fine for single character delimiter. But as per requirement I have to use multicharacter delimiter ;" (semi colon and double quotes).
I am taking this into variable using
filesep = "<%=snpRef.getSrcTablesList("", "[SFILE_SEP_FIELD]", "", "")%>"
but it is giving lexical error.
Can anybody help me with the use of escape character in current scenario?
Any other suggestions are also appreciated.
Thanks
AnkitHello,
A small tweak may solve your problem:
Instead of :
CONCATENATE wa_condstr ' bukrs = ' pa_bukrs INTO wa_condstr SEPARATED BY space.
Use:
CONCATENATE wa_condstr ' bukrs = ' 'PA_BUKRS' INTO wa_condstr SEPARATED BY space.
Then use this in SELECT.
Anyways for your answer the escape character for apostrophe is an apostrophe )
Try this you will understand:
DATA:
V_STR TYPE STRING VALUE ''''.
WRITE: V_STR.

Best practice for Logical OR pre-condition evaluation
Greetings,
I'm finding TS doesn't have basic features for decision making (imp) for execution. Any recommendations are welcomed and appreciated. Please see below scenario.
I'd like to execute setup steps (custom step types) for a signal generator based upon the user selected "Test".
To keep it simple for the signal generator let's say we have the following steps:
Set Freq | Set PWR lvl | Set Modulation Type | Set Modulation ON/OFF | Set RF Power ON/OFF
For User Selected Tests let's say we have Test A(0) | Test B(1) | Test C(2) (Test A & C requires Modulation, B does not)
Here's my issue:
I can't get SET Freq | SET PWR lvl | Set RF Power ON/OFF to execute a pre-condition setup for evaluating Logical OR's. (i.e. locals.TestSelected ==0||1||2)
Same for Set Modulation Type | Set Modulation ON/OFF (i.e locals.TestSelected ==0||2)
Thanks in advance for any guidance provided.

Solved!
Go to Solution.Just want to clarify, there seems to be a misunderstanding about the difference between bitwise OR (i.e. the | operator) and logical OR (i.e. the || operator). Bitwise OR results in the combination of all of the bits which represent an integer stored as binary, while logical OR (i.e. what you really want in this case) results in a True, non-zero, value (usually 1) if either operand is non-zero.
Also, the == operator has a higher precedence than either the bitwise OR or logical OR operators.
So what this means:
locals.TestSelected ==0||1||2
is to give a result of True (i.e. 1) if either locals.TestSelected ==0, 1 is non-zero, or 2 is non-zero. Since 1 and 2 are always non-zero that expression will actually always result in a True value.
Similarly, although the following will likely give you the behavior you want:
(locals.TestSelected == 0) | (locals.TestSelected == 1) | (locals.TestSelected == 3)
That's not really doing what you are probably thinking it does. It's actually getting the value True (i.e. 1) for each of the sub-expressions in parethesis and then bitwise OR'ing them together. Since the result for the == operand is always either 0 or 1, this ends up giving the same result as logical OR (i.e. the || operator), but what you really want in this case is logical OR and for other expressions using bitwise OR when you mean logical OR might give you incorrect results. So, you should really be using something like the following:
Locals.TestSelected == 0 || locals.TestSelected == 1 || locals.TestSelected == 3
The parenthesis don't really matter in this case (so can be left out, but also doesn't hurt anything so you can leave them in if you prefer) because the == operator has a higher precedence than the || operator so all of the == operations will be done first.
Hope this helps clarify things,

Textarea - create String that acts like a single character
Hi guys,
I am trying to create a string in a textarea that acts like a single character. By this, I mean that the user cannot edit the contents of that section of text. Here's an example:
Textarea text:
[Number of Iterations] * 35 / 200
I want the [Number of Iterations] to be read-only. In addition, if the user tries to delete the beginning or end of [Number of Iterations], the whole thing is deleted. If possible, I would like cursor operations to treat it like a single character as well (i.e. to go from |[Number of Iterations] to [Number of Iterations]| takes a single right button press).
Some commercial applications like Microsoft Word do this with Automatically created text in documents (like page numbers and date stamps) and I was wondering if I could do the same thing using a Textarea.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
SteveA JTextPane allows you to add components to the text pane. So you might be able to create a JLabel with your desired text and insert the label into the text pane.

Automatic workflow customizing :Schedule background job for condition evalu
Hai,
I have one problem in automatic customizing SWU3(Maintain runtime environment)-Schedule background job for condition evaluation.
How to turn green tick from red cross? All other steps are OK in SWU3 except this problem.
Please give me some tips.
-Jaheer
_______Thanks in terms of BIG points_______________________Hi Jaheer
If the only red cross is next to the condition evaluation job, I suppose you could just schedule up the job automatically in SM36. Just be sure that the RFC Destination is correctly configured.
The program that you need to schedule is <b>RSWWCOND</b>. The SAP default is to call the job SWWCOND and schedule it to run every 30min. That should get rid of the red cross. And if not, you might find along the way why the Auto-Customising didn't work.
Cheers

WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_CONDITIONS - ORA-06502 character string buffer too small
Hi,
I am currently working on a application that can upload CSV files inside many tables. Since I hate reinventing the wheels, I have decided to reverse engineer APEX and APEX APIs that are used by the SQL Workshop to upload CSV files to a single table. Since this feature was tested many times by many developers around the world, I know I can trust the code. If in a future release of APEX those packages are modified, I'll have to update my abstraction layer to call my own packages instead of APEX packages. (This is not an issue for our team.)
First Step
Use apex_040000.wwv_flow_load_data.create_csv_collection to create an apex collection with the first 20 rows of the csv file. At this step, we can validate the format of a sample of the file without loading all rows of the csv file.
Second Step
Use apex_040000.wwv_flow_load_data.load_csv_data to upload all rows of the csv file inside a table.
Third Step
Do whatever you want with the data inside the table. (i.e.: Send the data into multiple tables...)
Here's my problem..._
After the first or second steps, I display the data using interactive reports. I want to highlight every cells containing "invalid" data. I use apex_040000.wwv_flow_worksheet_api.add_or_update_highlight. When I have too many invalid cells, the IR doesn't show at run time, and you can see ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small on the page.
I would like to know the limitations of IR using the table WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_CONDITIONS. Is there a way to create many highlight conditions inside a single row of WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_CONDITIONS ? I want to find the best approach to add hundreds of conditions.
Thanks

Edited by: Purvik on Aug 25, 2009 11:59 AMThere is not a chance in the world, especially not knowing column definitions that I, and I suspect most anyone else, is going to wade through this much unformated code looking for an error you couldn't bother to copy in full.
Either tell us, specifically, the line on which the error is occurring or, better yet, start whacking stuff out of your code until you find the offending definition. That is certainly what I would do. Commenting out sections is a marvelous way to quickly find an issue.

How to use the scanner class to ask for a character?
Hey guys, this is my assignment:
Ask the user for a single letter and a sentence, and print out the
number of times that letter shows up in the sentence.
Please tell me how to scan for a character. I tried this:
import java.util.Scanner;
public class Frequencies
public static final void main(String[] args)
Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in);
Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println("Enter a sentence");
String x = scanner.next();
System.out.println("Enter a letter to look for");
String y = scan.next();
char z = y.charAt(0);
int chara = 0;
for(int i = 0; i<x.length(); i++){
if(z==y.charAt(i)){
chara = chara++;
System.out.println("There are " + chara + " " + z + "s in the sentence");
}and got the error after Running (not compiling):
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 1
at java.lang.String.charAt(String.java:687)
at Frequencies.main(Frequencies.java:16)I thought this meant that I was asking for the character in postition 1 of string y, but in my code I wrote position 0
when I tried inserting words in the character place (just to see what happened, not expecting functionallity, I got
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: [NUMBER OF CHARACTERS]
at java.lang.String.charAt(String.java:687)
at Frequencies.main(Frequencies.java:16)Please help.
The assignment isn't due nor graded, this is just killing me lol.
Thanks in advance

I've used this method for a while now and it gets the job done.

char letter = UserInput.findWithinHorizon(".", 0).charAt(0);
I know you're trying to help, but this isn't really doing it. It does nothing to address the source of the OP's problem. The way he's doing it now is almost right. He just needs to do a tiny bit of detective work to fix a small bug. Tossing off a totally different approach, with no explanation, is not particularly helpful.Your right jverd I skimmed the OP's problem too quick;y and in tern didn't understand it fully. After reading the post thoroughly I saw that the problem can be solved by taking the sentence the user enters and then converting it into a array of characters. Then searching for the specific letter the user enters is achieved by comparing it to each individual element of the char array. Then incrementing a counter variable each time a match is made. I hope this example code solve your problem.

Hi all,
I'm currently running the Oracle Application Express 4.0.2 on the Oracle DB 11g and thinking about the APEX upgrading to current 4.2. version. We have there quite big application used by the inernal employees so prior I need to test, if the migration will work.
I installed the new server with database and the APEX 4.2. and import the current application. Everything seems to working good except few checkboxes, which returns me the error: "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small."
LOV (Source) Code of Checkbox Item:
SELECT email as display_value, id as return_value
FROM users
WHERE <some conditions>;
In the current version 4.0.2. I get the checkbox item (total count of the rows approx. 650), but in the 4.2. I get this "string buffer too small" error and the page could not be rendered (if I add to the same query limitation: "rownum<242" it will display the item).
Could you please help me with this issue? Any idea, what I should set up in the new APEX to get the same results or you see there any limitation, why it does not work in the new version, but in the old version the same SQL works fine?
Thank you all in advance.

Any idea, what I should set up in the new APEX to get the same results or you see there any limitation, why it does not work in the new version, but in the old version the same SQL works fine?The total size of the HTML generated for an LOV-based item in APEX is restricted to 32K (this limit applies to every version). Why you are hitting this limit in the new instance may be due to differences in data or the database configuration (e.g. character set) rather than changes introduced in APEX.
Is the data exactly the same? Is the database configuration the same? When you limit the number of rows so the checkboxes are displayed and view the page source, is there any difference in the HTML used to render the checkbox form elements between the two versions?
That said, from a usability perspective 650 LOV options is rather a lot, and your application may very well outgrow this limit naturally in any version of APEX as more users as added. It is probably worthwhile thinking about other ways to display these options. -
I put together a GREP style inside of a paragraph style that is supposed to find all instances in the paragraph where there is one single character inside of parethesis. This is what I typed in:
(?<=\().(?-\))
and I assigned a character style that is supposed to change the character inside the parenthesis, but not the parenthesis themselves.
But it's not working. Can anyone help me with how to fix it?For any other readers greppling with same,
(?<=\().(?=\))
[Breakdown:
(?<=x) Lookbehind string x
\( .. which is an open parenthesis -- escaped, because it's a GREP special character
. Any character. Any at all! Imagine that!
(?=y) Lookahead string y
\) .. which is a closing parenthesis -- see above]
