JSTL in JDeveloper

I'm having trouble getting the jstl tags to work in JDeveloper 9.0.3.
I've downloaded JSTL 1.1.0-B1, extracted it and copied the files under lib/ to (J2EE_HOME)/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib. The folder didn't exist so I created it.
I still get the following error when I compile:
Error(1): "http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" is not a registered TLD namespace.
Error(1): Unable to load taghandler class: http://java.sun.com/jstl/core
What am I doing wrong?

Hi Lars,
Did you register the taglibs in web.xml? The entries there have to be just right for the libraries to load in the jsp.
Good luck,
Conrad

  • Errors to use JSTL Tag in JDeveloper 10g

    Hi, folks in JDeveloper:
    I have a problem to use JSTL in JDeveloper 10g.
    In jsp file: detail.jsp, I include tag library like this:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" prefix="c"%>
    When I compile/run, the system complain the following errors:
    Error(4): java.io.FileNotFoundException: /http:/java.sun.com/jstl/core
    Error(4): Unable to load taghandler class: http://java.sun.com/jstl/core
    I already put standard.jar and jstl.jar file in WEB-INF/lib directory. I use jakata-struts jstl 1.0
    Anybody know how to fix that?
    Many thanks.

    User,
    You should configure the taglibs using the project->libraries option in JDev. If that doesn't help, try adding the taglib URI mappings to web.xml as detailed [url http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=650000&messageID=3823804]here

  • New ALS Demo Application (release 9.0.5.x)

    AMIS just released the ALS (AMIS Library System) application based on BC4J and JSP with JSTL for JDeveloper 10g and JHeadstart 9.0.5.x.
    The ALS application is shipped with JHeadstart 9.0.5.x, to demonstrate the use of Toplink with JHeadstart. The application is also useful for people using BC4J (with JSP), hence this new release today.
    The ALS application is used by AMIS to describe recipes in the JHeadstart Cookbook, to base workshops on and to demonstrate the JHeadstart Application Generator Extensions, that we intend to release in November 2004. This release also shows you how to use JSTL in JHeadstart generated applications.
    For details on the ALS 9.0.5.x release for BC4J and, see the AMIS Weblog: http://technology.amis.nl/blog/index.php?p=219.
    The AMIS JHeadstart Cookbook can be found at http://www.amis.nl/files/technology/Cookbook/AMISJHeadstartCookbook.htm.
    By the way, you may like this simple recipe: Include Spacers to enhance JHeadstart Generation (http://technology.amis.nl/blog/index.php?p=198)

  • Programming JSP using JDeveloper 10.1.3 and JSTL

    Hello,
    I new in JDeveloper. I am creating a web proyect and I am programming a JSP. This JSP includes JSTL 1.1 Core, exactly the next line:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c"%>
    When I compile my proyect, obtain the next error:
    Error: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagAttributeInfo.<init>(Ljava/lang/String;ZLjava/lang/String;ZZ)V
    I ensured that this class (javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagAttributeInfo) has no that constructor (String, String, boolean) but when I consult the Sun documentation for that class, it is said that the class contain the constructor.
    My proyect include the next libraries defined in JDeveloper:
    · J2EE
    · JSTL 1.1
    · Strut Runtime
    · JSTL 1.1 tags
    Please, what should I do to do my proyect work?

    Constructor javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagAttributeInfo (String, String, boolean)
    is not defined. The JSP 2.0 constructor is
    TagAttributeInfo(java.lang.String name,
    boolean required,
    java.lang.String type,
    boolean reqTime,
    boolean fragment)
    Another constructor is
    TagAttributeInfo(java.lang.String name,
    boolean required,
    java.lang.String type,
    boolean reqTime)

  • JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4 and JSTL Core 1.1

    I am attempting to use JSTL Core 1.1 with the new version of JDeveloper. I can reference the URI for JSTL 1.0 just fine but my web page cannot seem to find JSTL 1.1. I get an error of Error(2): "http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" is not a registered TLD namespace when I try to comple and an error of Fix install JSP Tag Library failed with exception: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException when I try to do a Install JSP Tag library command. The manage libraries tab shows everything in the correct place. Any ideas?

    This was imported from an old Java 1.4 project, but I wished to upgrade it to use JSTL 1.1. Apparently if you import an old project there is no way to switch it to use JSP 2.0 (or at least I could not find one). As such now I have to recreate all of my old projects from scratch (create the project and then import all the source code) to be able to use JSP 2.0 features.

  • JSTL comparision doesn't work with jdeveloper 10.1.2.2.0

    Hi,
    can somebody explain me why comparision are not working with JSTL. I quess reason is the type of the variables, but how can I solve it?
    Is the anyway to cast to same object-type?
    I try also compare directly with bindings, but didn't work either. That why I use temporary page scope variables.
    <c:set var="comp2" value="${bindings.Organisation}" scope="page" />
    <!-- prints "-203-", which is correct -->
    <tr><td> </td><td>
    -<c:out value="${comp2}"/>-
    </td></tr>
    <!-- loop over possible values -->
    <c:forEach var="RowTL" items="${bindings.OrganisationCode.rangeSet}" >
    <c:set var="comp1" value="${RowTL.KarvTunnusnumero}" scope="page" />
         <!-- print "-203-11" when reach correct item which should match -->
    <tr><td> </td><td>
    -<c:out value="${comp1}"/>-<c:out value="${RowTL.KarvKoodiarvo}"/>
         <!---- true always with fixed value - not reasonable -->
    <c:if test="${comp2 == '203' }">
    <c:out value="11111111"/>
    </c:if>
         <!---- true with correct item, with fixed value - not reasonable -->
    <c:if test="${comp1 == '203' }">
    <c:out value="22222222"/>
    </c:if>
         <!---- false always althouhg printed values with correct item are "203" = "203" -->
    <c:if test="${comp1 == comp2 }">
    <c:out value="33333333"/>
    </c:if>
         <!---- false always althouhg printed values with correct item are "203" = "203" -->
    <c:if test="${comp2 == comp1 }">
    <c:out value="4444444"/>
    </c:if>
    </td></tr>
    </c:forEach>
    thanks PLa

    Works fine, thanks,
    Now it is comparing wtih string values I guess.
    Do you know any good source where can I read about those object types of bindings? I tried also debugger to investicate the structure of object, but debugger didn't show anything.

  • JSP portlet built in Jdeveloper call stored procedure

    Hi,
    I have a simple jsp portlet built with Jdeveloper, now I'm trying to execute a stored
    procedure from the jsp. How can one access database and call a proc, in a jsp which is
    developed in Jdeveloper?
    Is JSTL required for it or a normal jdbc calls will suffice?
    Any help asap is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kavitha

    It is actually very simple. :)
    I suggest to create a Java bean containing the Java code with the PL/SQL call.
    This method can be invoked from JSP.
    A good pratice is to pass database connection to this methode and commit or rollack in the JSP.
    example:
    public void saveData(Connection conn,
    String param1,
    String param2) throws SQLException
    With this approach you can call several SQL statements in the same session.
    This will enable transaction handling.
    I suppose the db connect will be pooled in your application.

  • Looking for Simple JSTL Example

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm looking for an example of a simple Web application that uses "JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library" (JSTL) -- that doesn't use JDeveloper!
    I have OC4J stand-alone 10.1.3.0.0 on Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack2 with JDK 1.5.0_07
    I created and packaged a J2EE application in a EAR file. The EAR file contents:

    http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/doc/standard-doc/intro.html
    The distribution contains a "standard.jar" file and a "jstl.jar" file (among other things). The "standard.jar" file is included in my WAR (see above) and I have copied the "jstl.jar" file to:
    %J2EE_HOME%\jsp\lib\taglibI launch OC4J from the command prompt like this:
    java -jar oc4j.jarI deploy my EAR using the following command:
    java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost oc4jadmin xxx -deploy -file frstjstl.ear -deploymentName FirstJSTL -bindWebApp default-web-siteThen I launch my Web browser and enter the following URL:
    http://localhost/frstjstlAnd I get the following error message:
    500 Internal Server Error
    OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException: /index.jsp: Line # 8, <c:forEach var="httpRequestHeaders" items="${headerValues}">
    Error: Attribute: items is not a valid attribute nameThanks (for reading),
    Avi.

    Thanks Qiang.
    Yes, when I copy file "index.jsp" to directory "%J2EE_HOME%\default-web-app\testJstl.jsp" it works.
    I use the following URL:
    http://localhost:8888/testJstl.jspAnd this is the output I get:
    [Format modified to be more suitable to post on this forum.]
    Simplest JSTL
    CONNECTION = [Ljava.lang.String;@7348e
    USER-AGENT = [Ljava.lang.String;@10b8d03
    ACCEPT-LANGUAGE = [Ljava.lang.String;@157011e
    ACCEPT-ENCODING = [Ljava.lang.String;@10a8143
    ACCEPT = [Ljava.lang.String;@ac8360 HOST = [Ljava.lang.String;@1e534cb
    [/pre]
    But I guess, since the JSTL related JAR files are part of the default Web application, there is no reason it shouldn't work.
    That's why you said:
    Let us do a sanity test first.So now what?
    (And, by the way, thanks for your help.)
    Cheers,
    Avi.

  • JSP 1.2 in JDeveloper?

    When will JDeveloper support JSP 1.2? I'm really confused as my JDeveloper (Version is 9.0.2.829) doesn't seem to do JSP 1.2 but the Oracle9iAS Release 2 (which predates the latest/greatest JDeveloper release and shares the 9.0.2 designation) does support JSP 1.2. So what is it?
    Do both Oracle9i Applicatoin Server Release 2 and JDeveloper 9.0.2.829) support JSP 1.2? If not, when will they?
    Inquiring minds want to know (actually...I'm really hot to use the JSTL tag libraries which require JSP 1.2).
    Bob

    The next release of JDeveloper (9.0.3) will support JSP 1.2.
    Keep a look out on OTN for a preview version soon.

    Olaf,
    Sorry I missed your blog post. It was helpful, but it did not allow me to successfully run my application on the standalone WebLogic 10.3. To do this, I did the following:
    1. Created ADF/ADF Faces web application - runs fine in integrated WebLogic Instance.
    2. Followed directions to setup standalone WebLogic Server as outlined in above posts with links to Duncan Mills and Chris Muir, including installation of latest JDeveloper ADF libraries.
    3. Copied adfmweb.jar, adfm.jar, adfdt_common.jar to .../domains/adf_domain/lib/ following setup by Chris Muir.
    4. In console in standalone WebLogic 10.3 server, create JDBC Data Source with name jdbc/whdp_DS (In the test, I got an error. At this point, I replaced the URL with the JDBC custom URL that I use in SQL Developer for this data set which is setup to connect to a RAC setup with failover. Works great. No error message on testing.)
    5. In META-INF, added application.xml and weblogic-application.xml as outlined in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/deployment_topics.htm#insertedID7
    6. In WEB-INF, added weblogic.xml that is outlined in document referenced in step 5. Modified this file, adding the statements from Olaf's blog post.
    >
    <library-ref>
    <library-name>jstl</library-name>
    </library-ref>
    <library-ref>
    <library-name>jsf</library-name>
    </library-ref>
    >
    6b. Modifed web.xml, added resource-ref to jdbc/whdp_DS
    >
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/whdp_DS</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    >
    7. In the application, modified the AppService defined in the model by right clicking on the AppService and selecting configuration. I changed both the local and shared configurations to use the jdbc DataSource jdbc/whdp_DS. I am not sure which one is needed to be changed, but changing them both made the application work on the standalone WebLogic 10.3 server.
    8. Deploy to standalone server. I had previously created the application server as a target.
    Now my deployment works, AND running the application works. The question now is whether this is the "best" way to do this, or is there an easier way. Also, what about developing locally? How do you manage both the data source defined for the standalone server and a simple JDBC URL for the integrated server? Couldn't find that explained in the docs anywhere.
    I also noticed that with the latest JDeveloper install (build 5205), there is now an extra entry about an UDDI server not running that isn't critical in the logs. This may be caused from the reinstall and not selected UDDI as an option for WebLogic components, but this message shouldn't appear.
    Thanks, Ken

    Also according to the link in step 6, I need to modify weblogic.xml to add given entries. So I add the required lines in weblogic.xml found at C:\Users\Nano\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60\o.j2ee\drs\springapp\NewProjWebApp.war\WEB-INF
    But when I try to run application, my changes are overwritten and it again contains whatever it had before my changes.
    Can you please tell me am I editing the right file and why its contents are overwritten?

  • Error when deploying JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 to WebLogic 10.3

    Hi All,
    Trying to migrate an existing web application which was running on the old Oracle App Server to WebLogic 10.3. In the process upgraded Hibernate, Spring etc. other libraries. Left the existing Strut 1.1 alone. Getting the following error during deployment -
    <Aug 19, 2011 12:05:18 PM EDT> <Error> <HTTP> <BEA-101371> <There was a failure when processing annotations for application C:\Documents and Settings\tariq.ahsan\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60\o.j2ee\drs\AppServerConversion\MaintenanceWebWebApp.war. Please make sure that the annotations are valid. The error is org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet>

    I checked if C:\Documents and Settings\tariq.ahsan\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60\o.j2ee\drs\AppServerConversion\MaintenanceWebWebApp.war\WEB-INF\lib contains the 'Struts.jar'. It doesn't. Could this be the problem?
    Thanks

    You need to add a library which contains all the classes used by struts. I have build a library containing these jars
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\antlr.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\commons-beanutils.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\commons-collections.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\commons-digester.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\commons-fileupload.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\commons-lang-2.1.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\commons-logging.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\commons-validator.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\jakarta-oro.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\jakarta-struts\lib\struts.jar
    <jdev_install>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.model_11.1.1\adfm.jar
    <jdev_install>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.model_11.1.1\adfmweb.jar
    <jdev_install>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.model_11.1.1\adftransactionsdt.jar
    <jdev_install>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.model_11.1.1\bc4jhtml.jar
    <jdev_install>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.model_11.1.1\datatags.jar
    <jdev_install>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.model_11.1.1\db-ca.jar
    <jdev_install>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.model_11.1.1\jdev-cm.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\modules\jakarta.jstl_1.1\lib\jstl.jar
    <jdev_install>\jdeveloper\modules\jakarta.jstl_1.1\lib\standard.jarYou need to change jdev_install with the path where you have installed jdev.
    Next you need to remove the content of the weblogic-application.xml. Here jdev has made some entries which later prevent the struts servlet to wort. My weblogic-application.xml looks like
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <weblogic-application xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-application http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-application/1.0/weblogic-application.xsd" xmlns="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-application">
    </weblogic-application>Then you need to check the web.xml file as jdev tends to make addition here too.

  • Deploying a JDeveloper 10.1.3 app to 10.1.2 Server

    I am deploying a 10.1.3 JDev app to a 10.1.2 Oracle Application Server on Unix.
    I have changed the J2EE version to 1.3 and the JDK version to 1.4, setup my data source on the server and unchecked bundle data sources, setup a connection to the server, setup a new OC4J instance, commented out the following libraries in the application.xml, and included libraries in my deploy. I am not using ADF only JSF. But I cannot get the page to come up.
    Libraries commented out in application.xml for this OC4J instance:
    <!--library path="../../../BC4J/lib"/-->
    <!--library path="../../../jlib/ojmisc.jar"/-->
    <!--library path="../../../ord/jlib/ordim.jar"/-->
    <!--library path="../../../ord/jlib/ordhttp.jar"/-->
    <!--library path="../../../jlib/jdev-cm.jar"/-->
    <!--library path="../../../uix/taglib"/-->
    Libraries included in the deploy:
    Checked and greyed:
    JSF
    JSTL 1.1
    JSTL 1.1 Tags
    Commons Logging 1.0.3
    Commons Beanutils 1.6.1

    Commons Digester 1.5
    Libraries available and checked:

    Hi,
    do you deploy from JDeveloper ? In this case all datasources will be created for you and the libraries are copied as well. If using ADF, make sure the ADF runtime libraries are deployed

  • How can i deploy a web application from JDeveloper 10.1.3 to tomcat 5.5.x ?

    hello i need easy way to deploy my jsf applications to tomcat .
    i create an application server configuration in my JDeveloper now what ? how can i say to deploy the app to tomcat not to oracle application server.
    another question :
    the "deploy operation" must copy jsf , adf implementations jstl standartd common* and other jars to my tomcat project automaticly and it MUST make classes dir to be in WEB-INF\classes instead of project main.

    Hi,
    These steps worked for me:
    (I assume you successfully created the server configuration)
    1) Select your project and then go to Run --> Deploy --> New Deployment Profile
    Select WAR file, OK,
    Give a name and select a directory,
    in the WAR Deployment Profile Properties page, choose the Target Connection in the "Profile" section.
    2) Now the deployment profile must be ready.
    Select your project and then go to Run --> Deploy --> your new profile.
    This should deploy the project to Tomcat.
    I saw all needed jars deployed as well. Maybe you should check if all the jars are selected in the "Export" column, in the Project Properties --> Libraries section.
    For the last question, in Project Properties --> Project Content, change your output directory to WEB-INF\classes.

    Turgay Zengin

    Copy the jdev_home/jlib/redist/uix2_install.zip file to
    jdev_home/jdev/redist folder . It will overwrite an existing uix2_install.zip file.
    Close and open the Jdeveloper IDE. It will prompt you for upgradation of projects. Press OK button in response.
    Now you should be able to run the JSP pages.
