JTextPane does not wrap

i have written a code by using JTextPane, however, it does not seem to be wrapping the long texts. The method below creates a JTextPane withing a JPanel and returns the JPanel. i add the JPanel to another panel with TableLayout later. can someone tells why it is not wrapping?
    public JPanel createMessagePanel(String message) {
        JPanel mesPanel = new JPanel();
        JTextPane textPane = new JTextPane();
        try {
            StyledDocument doc = (StyledDocument) textPane.getDocument();
            Style style = doc.addStyle("StyleName", null);
            StyleConstants.setFontFamily(style, "SansSerif");
            StyleConstants.setFontSize(style, 30);
            StyleConstants.setAlignment(style, StyleConstants.ALIGN_LEFT);
            doc.insertString(doc.getLength(), message, style);
        } catch (BadLocationException e) {
        mesPanel.add(textPane);
        return mesPanel;
    }

It is only because the default layout manager for the JPanel is
a FlowLayout that try to use the maximum width.
With the BorderLayout you are limited to the available width so the textpane can wrap.
I tell you to use a JScrollPane because if the text is too long you will have to scroll.

  • NSString sizeWithFont:constrainedToSize:lineBreakMode: does not wrap text

    For iPhone SDK Beta 8, NSString sizeWithFont:constrainedToSize:lineBreakMode: does not wrap text of receiver, despite the fact that the documentation says it should.
    CGSize constrainedSize = { MIDDLECOLUMNWIDTH, 1024 };
    CGSize labelSize = [text_ sizeWithFont:font_ constrainedToSize:constrainedSize lineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap];
    Does anyone know an alternate way to automatically wrap a string's text given a constrained size?

    I think you should re-read the documentation
    *Returns the size of the string +if it were rendered with the specified constraints+.*
    Discussion
    This method wraps the receiver’s text and truncates it, as needed, to fit the specified size. *It then returns the actual size of the resulting text*. If the height specified in the size parameter is less than a single line of text, this method may return a height value that is bigger than the one specified.
    *This method does not actually draw the string.* You can use it to obtain the layout metrics you need to draw the receiver in your user interface.

    Using drupal ckeditor profile with wysiwyg . Firefox latest version is apparently not respecting the width of the i-frame text editor box and the text is not wrapping when viewing in source code mode. Chrome and IE are working as expected. Windows 7

    Firefox 4 is not wrapping long lines for www.lindasgourmetcookies.com. This worked in previous versions of Firefox. See "URL of affected site" for an example. Lines also wrap properly on IE

  • h:inputTextarea tag does not wrap in firefox

    The following code will only wrap in IE and not in Firefox:

    Is there workaround for this? This is a showstopper for our deployment.

    This seems like a CSS problem -- what is the definition of notesStyle? Plain, unstyled text wraps correctly.

  • Double click of JTextPane does not get through

    Hi everybody,
    I add a mouse listener to my JTextPane. This mouse listener just prints out the clickcount of the mouse event:
    private class TitleMousListener extends MouseAdapter
        * @see java.awt.event.MouseAdapter#mouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent)
       public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e)
          logger.info("====== TitleMouseListener");
          logger.info("is consumed: " + e.isConsumed() + ", click count: " + e.getClickCount() + ", right button: "
                + (e.getButton() != MouseEvent.BUTTON3));
    }Somehow the e.getClickCount() is always 1, even if I doubleclick on the JTextPane.
    How can I catch the double clicks of the JTextPane?
    Best regards,
    Jethro

    Hi,
    I can't reproduce that behaviour. The e.getClickCount() is 1 AND 2.
    I used the following code with jdk1.6:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class MainDialog extends JDialog {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            MainDialog dlg = new MainDialog();
            dlg.setSize(400, 400);
            dlg.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
            dlg.setVisible(true);
        JPanel panel1 = new JPanel();
        BorderLayout borderLayout1 = new BorderLayout();
        JPanel jPanel1 = new JPanel();
        JScrollPane jScrollPane1 = new JScrollPane();
        JTextField jTextField1 = new JTextField();
        JTextPane jTextPane1 = new JTextPane();
        TitleMousListener listener = new TitleMousListener();
        public MainDialog() {
            super(new Frame(), "MainDialog", false);
            setDefaultCloseOperation(DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE);
            panel1.setLayout(borderLayout1);
            jTextField1.setText("jTextField1");
            jTextPane1.setText("jTextPane1");
            getContentPane().add(panel1);
            panel1.add(jPanel1, java.awt.BorderLayout.NORTH);
            jPanel1.add(jTextField1);
            panel1.add(jScrollPane1, java.awt.BorderLayout.CENTER);
            jScrollPane1.getViewport().add(jTextPane1);
            jTextField1.addMouseListener(listener);
            jTextPane1.addMouseListener(listener);
            pack();
        private class TitleMousListener extends MouseAdapter {
            public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {
                System.out.println("TitleMouseListener");
                System.out.println("is consumed: " + e.isConsumed() + ", click count: " + e.getClickCount() + ", right button: "
                                   + (e.getButton() != MouseEvent.BUTTON3));
    }Does that work for you?

  • Mail does not wrap words

    Tried composing an email today and words simply break at the end of the line and begin again on the next line. Unable to see what might cause words to break randomly rather than at natural breaks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I'm getting this problem, too. It seems sporadic - I only notice it on longer emails, and it's always something that affects later paragraphs. So, the first 4 paragraphs of an email-in-progress wrap and break normally, but then paragraphs 5 and on break at the width of the window, splitting words down the middle at whatever point is at the edge.
    Very weird and very annoying. Hopefully, someone knows something about it...

  • PDF form created in Acrobat X - Mac Preview does not wrap text

    This is driving me crazy, please excuse me if this is rudimentary -
    I created a document in Word that will be a daily form filled out and saved as individual pdf's.
    In Acrobat X, I opened this doc & created a form.
    If I open with Acrobat reader or X, the form holds all parameters including "shrink to fit" with text...
    But, Preview clips the text... it centers text like I requested but doesn't adjust font size to fit...
    Is there a step I'm missing? This form needs to be filled out correctly in Preview - is this possible?
    Thanks

    You should NEVER expect that Apple's Preview application will be able to give the quality of preview you'll see in Acrobat. Apple chooses to implement or not implement the parts of the PDF specification that they choose.
    You should complain about this in the Apple user forums because they developed the application, not Adobe.

  • When printing page data in Schwab, the font is so tiny it's almost invisible - this does not happen in Windows Exploror.

    On 2/20/2013 all printing was normal. On 2/21/2013 not only did the printing not work, but PDF files did not show up properly. Is this a new version of Firefox? I got the PDF reset so that works now, but not the printing. In Comcast email, the date field shifts way to the right and forces the font smaller. When I uncheck "shrink to fit" it does not wrap the text but rather chops it off when I increase the font size.
    Today I tried printing pages from Schwab using their "Print Page" button which always worked in the past but today it was unreadable.
    Can I go back to the previous version of Firefox?

  • Output Does Not MATCH Word Document

    Everything is fine till it reaches page 76 (of my 388 page document) and the phrase: District of Columbia.
    The original document does not wrap District of Columbia, but the PDF file does.
    I am using the PDF printer.
    The problem is that District of Columbia is a bookmark linked to the table of contents. I see that during creation of the PDF file, Word goes into a mode that shows hidden text in bookmarks, etc. This makes the phase District of Columbia even longer than it normally is.
    A work around I am considering is choosing an oversized page for printing, but the names are criptic and I'll have to look up each to find out which would work. I'm very stuck. I have three other programs that can make a PDF out of the document in just minutes, but the links/bookmarks don't work at all.
    Creation using Acrobat (v XI) takes six hours. There are that many bookmarks in the document.
    Any suggestions?

    My guess is that you are looking at the DOC file with a laser printer or any other printer attached in the print menu. WORD reflows documents to be consistent with the attached printer. You are probably lucky that you made it through 75 pages before there was a problem. The 6 hours is also unreasonably long for the processing of 388 pages, unless everyone might have been a graphic. But even then, that is a huge amount of time.
    You are probably using PDF Maker (create PDF menu), but you should still attach the Adobe PDF printer and go through the document before printing or using PDF Maker. Also, go through the preferences in the create PDF menu to select only those things needed. Tags are good for recreating the DOC file (but it is better to not get rid of the DOC file in the first place). The other use for tags is accessibility -- that is often needed, but you might want to try turning it off to see the results.
    So, bottom line is to attach the Adobe PDF printer in the print menu and then go through the DOC file to check for the format you are concerned about and see if that duplicates what you are currently getting on p. 76. If it is the same, then you are seeing a standard process by WORD.

  • ComponentView does not redraw component in JTextPane Cell Rend

    We have created a JTable implementation that uses JTextPanes as cell renderers/editors so that text styles and the like are available. We want insert a component, such as a JButton, into the JTextPane. However, the component is only visible when the cell is in an editable state. In the renderer, the ComponentView looks like it has set aside the space where the component is to be, but the component is not visible.
    I have looked at this problem for several days now, and have only determined that this seems to be occuring at a low level. What I have found is that the ButtonUI's update method is not called when the document is in the cell renderer, while it seems called continuously in the cell editor (on each caret blink).
    Does anybody have any insight as to the problem? I have submitted this as a bug to Sun but wanted to find out if anybody else has come across anything similar to this.
    Thank for any help.
    Steve Feveile
    Here is sample code to reproduce the problem:
    // Main Class
    * Main frame for the testing of the component not painting. This simplifies
    * an issue we have come across when trying to set up using a JTextPane as a
    * renderer/editor as the cells in a table.
    * Under these conditions we have found that a component inserted into the JTextPanes document
    * only appears in the editing state of the cell, whereas the rendering state leaves
    * the spacing for the component but does not make it visible.
    * Note that creating a JTextPane with the one of these documents will show the component,
    * even when not editing.

  • Java 5.0 does not recognize wrapped Class-Path in Manifest.MF of .jar file?

    Java: build 1.5.0_05-b05
    Ant: 1.6.2
    I use Ant <jar> task to create a standalone application in a .jar file. I have a very long "Class-Path" in the Manifest.MF file. The long Class-Path is wrapped at every 70th character by the <jar> task. I cannot run "java -jar <the jar file>", because Java runtime cannot find classes.
    I found the following Q&A from ANT's FAQ page,
    Q: Whenever I use the Ant jar or manifest related tasks, long lines in my manifest are wrapped at 70 characters and the resulting jar does not work in my application server. Why does Ant do this?
    A: Ant implements the Java Jar file specification. Please refer to the notes section where it discusses the maximum allowable length of a line and the concept of continuation characters.
    If a jar file produced by Ant does not work in your appserver, and that failure is due to the wrapped manifest, then you need to consult your appserver provider, as it is a bug in their appserver. Far more likely, however, is a problem in your specification of your classpath. It is not Ant's wrapping of your classpath that is the problem.
    Do not raise a bug about this issue until you have checked to ensure that the problem is not due to your classpath specification.
    Any idea?

    The extension framework makes use of the new class-loading mechanism in the JavaTM 1.2 platform. When the runtime environment needs to load a new class for an application, it looks for the class in the following locations, in order:
    1. Bootstrap classes: the runtime classes in rt.jar and internationalization classes in i18n.jar.
    2. Installed extensions: classes in JAR files in the lib/ext directory of the JRE.
    3. The class path: classes, including classes in JAR files, on paths specified by the system property java.class.path. If a JAR file on the class path has a manifest with the Class-Path attribute, JAR files specified by the Class-Path attribute will be searched also.

    Cannot find anyplace to tell a page to wrap within browser margins, so one does not have to slide it back and forth to read each line::::::::::::
    Yes, there are so many pages on-line that -- when made small enough to fit within the margins so one does no have to use a scroll bar on EVERY line, moving it back and forth, back and forth -- look like a FINE-print Bible page (!! tiny !!) if you keep reducing it to fit within the margins.
    ALL because we cannot find a place to tell it to WRAP to FIT. Could have sworn I've seen some feature like that somewhere at one time, but if it is here, I cannot find it.
    Thank you.

  • Saving in Acrobat 9 and Opening file in Acrobat 8... text wrap does not work

    I work with a client who has Acrobat 8, I use Acrobat 9. I am saving a pdf that has form fields that need to wrap text and scroll. They have the properties of "multi-line" and "scroll text" already checked, and when I test it on my computer, the text wraps and scrolls, as it should. However, when my client tries to type inside the form field, the text will not wrap, even though it is wrapping on my version of acrobat. How can I get the text to wrap on my client's version (8)?

    Do you know of any solutions to my problem? To clarify, my client uses Windows XP Professional, Adobe 8 and Internet Explorer 7
