Judge testing result pass or fail

I use teststand to call dll(writen by CVI),my question is I get a result from instrument by dll ,how judge the result pass or fail by teststand, the limits is defined by user .
thank you!

Hey Sean,
I think I may be confused by your question so can you answer the following-
When you say "judge" do you mean that you want the step to determine if the result lies within the limits defined by the user?  Is the result numeric?  String? Boolean?  How is the user inputting the limits?
Most of the time people use the Numeric Limit Test step to determine limits on measurements.  This determination is accomplished by the Status Expression of the step combined with the limits set for that step.  How that is setup defines whether the step passes or fails.  If you let me know how the user is inputting the limits I can help you dynamically set the limits.  Which is most likely what you'll have to do.

How can I copy test plan WITH ITS RESULTS (PASS/FAIL) to other project in MTM??

    Hi odedn,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Based on your issue, you mean that you want to copy the test plan with test results from the current team project
to other team project, am I right?
If yes, as far as I know that when we copy test plan with test results to other team proejcts. It is default that
there just will not copy the test plan with test results (pass/fail) to other team project in MTM.
You can refer the following MSDN document’s
what gets cloned, it explained that which objects are copied from the source test plan to the destination test plan.

  • TestStand Lookup String for UUT Result Passed/Failed

When I am in CleanUp group, what is the lookup string for UUT Result=Passed or Failed. That is all steps in main group passed = UUT Result=Passed. I am using Labview.

Using RunState.SequenceFailed called from Cleanup step in TestStand sequence seems to work reliably for me but using RunState. ErrorReported does not. It seems as though the sequence context becomes invalid or something (although I get no error when accessing this property). It does not always come back true when a runtime error has occurred. Any ideas?

  • I want to write a program in LabView then pass the test results to teststand to check if it pass or fail without displaying the test stand program,

I want to write a program in LabView and create an execute but I want to be able to pass test results to test stand to find it the unit pass ar fail the test then save the data to a database. How would i go about it.

What's confusing is your statement that you want to do this "without display the test stand program". You can minimize the TestStand UI to the task bar but if you don't want TestStand to be running, how can TestStand evaluate the result. Explain a little more please.
In the message body of your post, you just say you want to create a LabVIEW exe and pass the results to TestStand. What I would recomend is that instead of an exe, you create a dll and use TestStand's DLL adapter to call it and return the results. TestStand will evaluate it and do the logging.

  • How to change the result status "Failed" after the test to "Passed"

We make a picture of a LCD screen and look if its all working. Sometimes the LCD screen is working propper but the Step Failed. In case automatic LCD test fails we show the picture from the camera to the user and he can decide if the LCD screen passed or failed. So when the user decide that the screen is working propper we should overwrite the status of the automatic test that in the report and database shows lcd screen test passed. I tried with
    RunState.SequenceFile.Data.Seq["Check_LCD_V3-0"].Main["154 Execute - All Horizontal Segments On"].Result.Status="Passed",
    RunState.SequenceFile.Data.Seq["Check_LCD_V3-0"].Main["154 Execute - All Horizontal Segments On"].Result.PassFail="True",
But in the database the Status of this step is still "Failed"
    What i do wrong?
    Thanks

    I recommend the following:
    1) Make the automated LCD test an Action step rather than a Pass/Fail step and instead set a local variable to whether the automatic LCD test failed (e.g. Locals.AutomatedLCDFailed).
    2) Create a new Pass/Fail test (using the none adapter) that takes both the local variable and the user's input into account to determine it's pass/fail status (e.g. Set the step's data source to an expression like: !(Locals.AutomatedLCDTestFailed && Locals.UserLCDTestFailed)
As an alternative to making 1) an Action step you could leave it a pass/fail step and uncheck the step setting on it for "Step failure causes sequence failure". Then you could use the status of that step instead of Locals.AutomatedLCDTestFailed. The one difference is that the automated test will still show up as failed in your report even though the sequence can still be passed. It's somewhat a matter of preference.
    Hope this helps,

  • DIO Pass or Fail Tests: LabVIEW would have to determine the expected result or results (1 or 2 of a possible 25) based on the output pattern send out (1 of 65K).

I am trying to come up with a plan to write a LabVIEW VI to do the following test. Can you give me a few ideas how to do this in LabVIEW. I am a new to LabView. I think I how to read and write I/O ports and do comparisons. I need a little guidance on the error checking. In simple terms the test will go like this:
I have 16 digital inputs and 16 outputs.
The 16 outputs are turned on in a specific pattern (i.e. 1001000101011101) and then the 16 inputs (i.e. 1000101111111111) are read in after a time delay. The inputs are checked to see if they match the expected results. If they do it's a pass if not it's a f
ailure. This seems pretty straightforward. And I think I have an idea how to do it. Here's the problem. The inputs are changed sequentially so that all possible combinations are tried. The test needs to determine if the resulting input pattern is correct based on the outputs that were sent out. 16 outputs give 65K possible tests. For each tests there would be 1 or 2 possible results with a total of 25 results for the entire 65K possible tests. LabVIEW would have to determine the expected result or results (1 or 2 of the 25) based on the output pattern send out (1 of 65K). Then it would have to compare the actual input pattern received to see if it's a pass or fail?
Any ideas how I can approach this?

The 16 outputs are simulating inputs to the device under test, (simulating remote switches and contacts). The object of the test is to test every possible combination to ensure that nothing unexpected happens at the output. The device under test is a logic motor control system and we want to make sure (among other things) that we don’t start or stop the motor when its not suppose to. How can only two tests do that?
I think you are describing how to create an array with the results. But I still don’t know how to determine what the result should be and if it is correct.
I’ve identified 25 possible valid states the motor controller can be in.
I’ve also identified the correct outputs that determine each of the 25 states.
    I’ve also
identified the possible valid states you can go to from each (previous) state, You can only get to a valid new state from a previous state if the right combination of inputs is applied (we hope).
If you know what state you are in when start and you know the valid states you can go to and the inputs required to get there, you should be able test the system against that. You verify this by checking the outputs against what they should be. With 65K possible inputs combination, checking them all manually would be quite is a task. Putting this into LabView is my task.

  • How to summarize all the DUT test results such as Serialnumber, high limit, test result, low limit ,pass or fail to save to one excel table file? So i just open the excel file to see all the DUT report. For your help! any example.

Here is an example of a sequence opening an excel document and creating a table. You have to slightly modify it, to save Serialnumber, high limit, test result etc. But this will be a good start.

  • Output pass or fail result to printer

    Hello,
I need to add a printer to our existing test system fixture and write a VI that would print the either pass or fail result once the product has been tested.  But I don't know what kind of printer I need and where to start writing VI.  Do I need one of receipt printer or any kind of printer would work?  Any ideas.
    Thank  you in advance.

Any printer will work.  Like crossrulz said, the Report Generation Toolkit will print to the default printer.
    Here's a cheap-and-easy method Ive used:
This may work if you don't have the Report toolkit:
I switched to the first method when I found that the second doesn't work well in Windows 7, but I haven't tried it in LabVIEW 2013 (it's a bug that may have been fixed).
With either method, simply make the Front Panel of your VI look like the report you want.  I'll usually hide any controls (Print, Exit) before printing then re-show them when it's done.

Applies to all worksheets that utilise a PQ connection registered in the gateway. (my gateway is on an azure VM)
Existing worksheets receive this warning. New workbooks that utilise these connections also receive this warning
Adding a new PQ to the gateway and a new workbook that uses the new connection also receives this warning.
Every PQ connection I have receives this warning. My PQ connections are all to web resources. Most are to the workflowmax.com API, and one is to the Azure Marketplace to retrieve data for a date dimension.
Note: this does not prevent me from scheduling or triggering a refresh, and the refresh itself completes successfully. It's just a weird warning that caused confusion as it sounds like the actual refresh will fail as well seeing as the connection test failed.

  • Creating a chart in TFS showing test cases that pass and failed using lightweight chart in Team Web Access

How to you build a chart in TFS that show test cases results.
I'm using lightweight charts in Team Web Access.
In Team Web Access I go into my project, then I create test cases under the TEST tab and then run my test manually.  Now I want to create a testing progress result chart.  I go into the TEST tab, then click on test plan and notice that
    there is no Chart tab.
Is this tab configurable or am I missing something?

To my knowledge, charts are only available for work item queries in TFS web access. If you want to generate test result charts, you can do that using the TFS reporting data in the data warehouse (if your administrator configured it when setting up TFS).

  • Reporting results: Pass/Fail AND Incomplete

Some of our students may not complete a quiz and we want to
identify them so we can contact them. For those who do complete the
quiz, we need to report Pass or Fail. It doesn't look like we can
do both of these. Is that true? The settings seem to be radio
buttons that make you choose either/or.

I'd check into what you can do with LMS software. All of the
reporting needs above should be possible with the right Learning
Management System - which can be used to "plug in" your Captivate
SWF files. Or am I missing something here?

  • Generating a test result without a module

I have a basic question about generating a test result without calling a module in TestStand.
For example, I do a pair of read operations from a product and return the results to a pair of numeric local variables. Now I want to do a sequence pass/fail or numeric limit test based on these two values. The results are already available and I can do a function step to test a result, say from a basic math operation. But I can't create a pass/fail result from a function step. I've gotten around the issue by creating a dummy module that has no function other than to allow me use the expression builder to assign a result to one of the step result items, but this sure seems stupid.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Dave
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Do it in the Pre-expression.
Use the <none> adapter as suggested and place down a Numeric Limit Test step.  Then in the Pre-Expression put something like this:
    Step.Result.Numeric = Locals.A - Locals.B
If you look at the Data Source tab you will see the variable which gets evaluated and compared against the limits.
In fact if you wanted to you could avoid the Pre-Expression and just put your calculation in the Data Source Expression:
    Locals.A - Locals.B
You can set up the Limits on the Limits tab for that step.

  • Report Tab showing Cleanup Test results

We're running with TS 4.0 (VIs in LV 8.5).  We've customized the Operator Interface so that the Execution View and Report View are contained in the same tab.  Before now, we really didn't use the Cleanup section of the sequence file.  However, as our test evolved, we realized the need to guarantee certain predictable shutdown.  Anyway, when we run our tests (we have the report set to on-the-fly) the tests in Main show up in the execution tab and display pass/fail.  When a subsequence is called, the execution tab lists those (sub)tests and their results, as expected.  The problem is that we have a couple of things we do in Cleanup, and when the test ends, the execution tab displays the results of the things that were done in Cleanup.  We'd like the test results from Main to show up at the end so that the user can see what passed/failed without having to scroll through the report.  Is there a way to do this?

    Hello mrbean,
I am not seeing the same behavior that you describe.  The execution pointer should always follow the steps in the currently executing sequence.  If your MainSequence cleanup step group does not call any subsequences, then the execution pointer should not leave the MainSequence.  Furthermore, when I do place a subsequence in my cleanup step group, the execution pointer still returns to the MainSequence from which the subsequence was called once it is finished executing.  So I have been unable to reproduce this issue.
However, if you simply want to disable tracing into the Cleanup step group, you can go to Configure > Station Options and uncheck the "Allow Tracing into Setup/Cleanup" option.  I hope that helps.
