Just upgraded my iMac to OS x snow leopard. trouble now with my printer. I've disconnected and reconnected. Does not seem to recognize printer. It is listed as the default printer
just upgraded my iMac to OS x snow leopard. Now I have another problem. Printer not working. I've unplugged and replugged, nothing happens
HELP
thanks in advance
Go to the website for your printer manufacturer and check if there are SL compatible drivers available for your model. This is not an unusual issue, and if the printer's not too old, the updated drivers should be there.
If you can't find one on the manufacturer's site, try Apple Support Downloads and look back through the updates in there; Apple has issued generic updates for a number of printers since SL's release, so you may find one that way.
After installing the new drivers you'll need to setup the printer again.

I have upgraded my software to OS X Snow Leopard. Now I want to update that to Lion. How do I do that? When I look at the Lion software available for download on the apple site it all seems to be update software for people already a version of Lion.
It has to be 10.6.8 I believe, before you can upgrade to Lion. I found some more info, please check out: http://www.informationweek.com/byte/howto/personal-tech/desktop-os/231001728
Be sure all your programms will work on Lion. Power PC programms do not work anymore (eg Nikon Scan 4 will not work from now on on Mac OS X). Some versions of Canon utilities for camera's do not work, Canon still have to upgrade. For an App Compatibility Table: http://roaringapps.com/apps:table -

I just upgraded my mac book pro to snow leopard, now my I photo library dissappeared
I am a novice in all things technical and I need some help figuring out my I photo library. I bought my Mac Book Pro in 2009 and shared/transferred all information from my G5 (2004) to my laptop. I Photo was also transferred and I have started to add more photos to this laptop.
I just upgraded my mac Book Pro to Snow Leopard and now when I open my Iphoto library it shows some of the library but now all. My husband said it is still there but the system is not able to look in the right place due to the sharing...so I am totaly confused?????
WHen I go to the Information it syas it is Where: /users/shared
Under sharing and permission it says: You have custom access
vivianlie read and Write (but this is in light gray)
Everyone (also in light gray)
NOW: My old and faithful G5 all of a sudden is telling me this morning that in order to open I photo I
need to upgrade to work with this verion of I photo
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of I photo after the upgrade.
What should I do now?
Thanks so much for any tips and ideas...On you MBP try the three fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
On your G5 make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and run the same 3 fixes.

If you are using English as your language, then Siri should be available.
Have you registered your iPhone with Apple? If not, please do to confirm that you in FACT have an iPhone 4S.
You can do so here:

Help: Just finished shooting a wedding and Aperture crashes constantly during editing. All pic's in RAW and even after making sure I have the latest Aperture update, I have had to rebuild my library twice and "repair" does not seem to fix the issue. Help?
Well!
If you have ThunderBolt, I would go with such for an External Working Drive, spinning platter or SSD depending on your budget
This does not have to be huge just big enough to house your most current Jobs
Once the Current Job is put to rest I would move it to a larger multi bay hard drive unit, USB or FireWire nothing fancy, no RAID, set up as one single Disk
This would only be accessed when something is needed from a past Job so the connection does not have to be speedy
The Drobo would be relegated to Vaults and backups
You can set up a Vault on the Drobo to back up the External Working Library and then Reconnect it when you have moved the Library over to the other Enclosure
This has worked for me pretty smoothly for a long while, but I have found over the years that one can not assume all people work in the same manner! :-) -
With Windows 7 I upgraded itunes to 11. Now in my itunes library, when I click on a song "original file could not be found" comes up. This happens with over 2000 songs, but it seems to be ones I recorded from cd's. Locate does not seem to work. Has anyone else had this problem?
Highlight a song that is supposedly missing, press CTRL+I to Get Info, say no when asked to locate the file, then look at the summary tab. Where does iTunes "think" the file should be? Where is it really? You may need to give a configuration file a minor tweak.

I just bought a new MacBook Pro this summer and was all excited. But I'm very frustrated right now because I can't connect to any external monitors through VGA. My thunderbolt (DisplayPort Mini) to HDMI works just fine, but when I try with my other connector to go from Thunderbolt (DisplayPort Mini) to VGA, Nothing works. my screen goes blue and changes size like it recognized something but nothing is ever detected on the external moniter or projector. I'm not sure what is wrong but it's very frustrating. I'm just very depressed that it worked just fine with my 2-year-old MacBook Pro but isn't working now. I'm running OS X 10.8.2. I just upgraded yesterday from 10.8.1 but that upgrade did nothing to fix my problem. Can anyone help? Thanks
I am haveing this exact same issue. I have plugging in 3 monitors and tried two different VGA to mini displayport and nothing is working. I recently bought a Acer monitor and it work for an hour and now it back to doing the same thing.
When I plug the VGA adapter in to the monitor the monitor think its not connected to a computer then when disconnecting the VGA adapter the monitor thinks it is connected to a computer.
NEED SOME HELP!!! at the point of all my hair is pulled out.

that is the same problem i am having! if anyone can help that would be great i'm losing my mind over here -

I've discovered that all of these applications (programs) are PowerPC and are not supported within OS X Lion. Is there a Rosetta plug-in that one can get? Any news about Apple updated Lion to include one? Any other things I can try?
There is now and will never be any way for PowerPC apps to run on Lion.
You'll need to go back to Snow Leopard.
Call Apple and ask for a refund on your Lion Purchase -
Hello, I upgraded my laptop from Snow Leopard to lion, unfortunately I have a 2 music programs that no longer work. one is called the Music PadPro, which is now gone bankrupt, can anyone help?. I was talking to the Apple Store earlier and they said if I upgrade to the mountain lion it may help but I'm not so sure,
kind regards
NigelThere's no reason that upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion would make this application work. I've looked up Music PadPro. I don't know much about it, but it looks pretty old. Here are the requirements:
Macintosh G4 or higher processor running Mac OS X Version 10.2.6 (minimum),
Mac OS X Version 10.3.2 (recommended), or Mac OS X Version 10.4.2.
Looking at that, I would guess that the application would require a PowerPC processor. After the release of the Intel machines back in 2006, Apple included something called Rosetta within OS X. This allowed programs developed for the older architecture (PowerPC) to run on the newer Intel machines. The reason for this was to give developers some time to upgrade their applications to run natively on Intel processors. It was only with the introduction of Lion that Apple pulled Rosetta from their OS. They had basically given developers about five years to upgrade their applications. Unfortunately, in your case, the developer went belly up. You can always install an older version of the OS on either a separate partition or an external drive and you can run your program from there. -
iMac 7,1. SnowLeopard. 2 printers that printed nothing, or more than ±1/4 from page top.Reinstalled OS. Time Machine BU now allows only latest (faulty) files. ±4series shown, each taking +8 hours to complete. How to reinstall from ‘DEVICES’in ‘iMac’?
You need to get rid of MacKeeper (Zeobit). Do not use their uninstaller, follow the instructions here ...

When that is done there does not appear to be a lot wrong if you correct the red ink entries.
The 4Gb is sufficient for Yosemite though 6 or 8 Gb would be better. You may find the download slow so be prepared. -
question
Could you quote the entire error message, word-for-word, verbatim? What Import settings are you using ... Copy, Move, Add?
Most likely you have a permissions issue, but it will be much more clear to me if I can see the entire message.
