Keep pie chart from shrinking due to long labels outside of chart

I was wondering is there a way to keep my pie chart from shrinking when I have labels outside of the chart that are long?  Is there an option to wrap the labels, or dynamically shrink the font size of the labels, or both, so that my pie chart doesn't
have to be shrunk?
Please provide details on how this is done if you know how.  Thanks.

Hi jiwalkersm,
According to your description, you want to avoid your pie chart shrinking when the label outside is too long. Right?
In Reporting Service, if we want to always keep the pie chart size, we can set Docks into Default in Legend Properties, and let the legend not to show outside of chart. This will keep the position and size of the chart, but the legend will stay above the
chart which is not good for view. So we try to use expression to set font size in Legend Properties. However, we don’t have any function which can make the label wrapped. So we can only set font size based on the length of the label (For example: =IIF(Len(Field!Name.Value)>10,”5pt”,”8pt”)).
If this workaround still can’t be effective, we suggest you delete the legend, and create a tablix next to the chart, put the data into it.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
Best Regards,
Simon Hou

  • Problems pasting pie chart from Numbers into Pages table

    Hello,
I'm trying to paste a pie chart from Numbers into a table cell in Pages 09 but it doesn't allow me. Would you know why?
    Thanks,
    Pedro

Probably because it is a smart object connected back to the Numbers document.
If you want it purely as a graphic, try copying the chart in Numbers switching to Preview.app and going command n which will make it a pdf file, then copy that and paste that into Pages. But it will no longer be a live chart.

  • When copying a Pie Chart from one Excel tab to a new Excel tab, the chart data is still referring to the original table

    Hi,
In Excel 2007, I have a pie chart on sheet 1. I want to make a copy of the pie chart from sheet 1 and past into sheet 2, and change the table data in sheet 2 to get new chart recalculated based on new table values in sheet 2.
However, the chart in sheet 2 is still pointing to the table data in sheet 1.
All the cells in sheet 1 have relative cells.
    Please advise.
    Thanks - Bijan

    Hello Wind,
    As teylyn suggested:
"An Excel chart is hard-wired to its data source. You can copy and paste a chart to a different sheet and it will still refer to the initial source data."
So I did create the template and used in my 2nd tab which worked perfectly. However, I had an issue with merged cells which I am using for my data, and tylyn suggested that I provide the excel file that I am working with, and I did.
So now I need help as how to make merged cells work when I try to create a pie chart from template based on new data (which reside in mergerd cells).
P.S. I cannot resize my cells to make the data and labels fit into one call, so I have to have merged cells.
    Thanks

  • Creating a pie chart from a list of indicators

    Hello:
I'm working with WebIntelligence XI R2 and I have created a table that displays a list of indicators:
    Indicator 1   15
    Indicator 2   35
    Indicator 3   40
    Indicator 4   10
The problem is that I want to create a pie chart from this table but it seems that Webi is unable to convert a list of numbers in a pie chart.
Is there any workaround to make this chart, without having to change the universe? ( I suppose that if I convert the four indicators into a single dimension it will be possible, but I would like to avoid that).
    Thanks in advance and regards,
    Joaquín Castellano

Please disregard. i went back to the original blog code and started over, and figured this out.

  • 3D Pie chart from Excel to labview

    Hi every one,
How can I Import a 3D pie chart from Excel to labview ?
    Thx

There is no direct import mechanism for that. You would need to re-create the pie chart in LabVIEW, as LabVIEW has different 3D graphs than Excel. You would need to get the data out of Excel and use the 3D graphs to draw it. As for getting the data out of Excel, there have been numerous posts on reading data from Excel using ActiveX - just search for "read excel labview". You can also find many links to lots of other examples in the Excel thread. Please note: the Excel thread is a repository of links. Do not post a question in that thread.

  • How to keep a web page from expiring due to inactivity

i am doing an online school and taking a final exam but do not have time to finish it and i can not close it because i only get one submission, is there anyway i can keep the page from expiring while i am at work so i can finish it when i get home

I'm not sure I would trust it without testing first, but you could try using an add-on that stores your form input and can restore it if you lose the page and come back to it.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/lazarus-form-recovery/
There seems to be a problem with the extension based on recent reviews. Hopefully that will get cleared up?

  • I have the iCloud Photo Library (Beta) turned on. The photos from my iPhone do get uploaded to the iCloud. The photos are then downloaded to my wife's iPhone (we share the iCloud account). How do I keep the photos from downloading to my wife's iPhone

I do not want all the photos from my iPhone downloading to my wife's iPhone from iCloud? We share an iCloud account. How can I prevent the download to my wife's iPhone from iCloud. .The "Upload to My Photo Stream" is turned off on my iPhone. . I am running 8.1.3.
I have a related question. In order to same space on my iPhone is there a way to upload the photos to the iCloud and then delete them from my iPhone.

The way to keep the photos from downloading to your wife's phone would be for her to go to Settings > iCloud > Photos > and turn off iCloud Photo Library. If that isn't an option, the other option would be for her to have her own Apple ID ( and possibly explore the new family sharing options https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/ )
Regarding the "related question" see the quotes below from iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
Deleting a photo or video from your Photos app will also remove the item from iCloud Photo Library and from your iCloud storage allocation. Photos and videos you remove can be recovered from the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After 30 days, your content will be removed from the Recently Deleted album.
If you want to reduce the space used by photos on your phone, rather than deleting them see the following:
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

  • Not able to access javaFx charts from a remote system after using ext. jars

We are facing following issue. Any recommendations to resolve these issues are highly appreciated.
    1. Not able to access javaFx charts from a remote system (More details at the end of mail). This is high priority requirement as we have a web based reporting application and users access it over our static IP address.
We are using Java Fx charts in our web application where we built jnlp and jar files in a separate fx project and kept jar and jnlp’s inside our web project.
It is working fine when we did not used any external jar files and remotely it is accessible. But when we used external jars our project is running on local
system but remotely it is not working due to some path settings. We modified jnlp files where entry of jar files exists and modified the jar path as per our
project. But still it did not work.
Before using external jars inside our java fx project my jnlp looks like:

I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
    - Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.   This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • JDBC initialize failed due to long idling time

    Hi gurus
Anyone having similar problem and would like to share their solution for the problem stated below.
Normally the integration for IDOC-XI-JDBC scenarios is working fine, but when the R3 halt sending IDOC to XI, the JDBC connection to MS SQL 2000 server failed to process and initialise due to long idling time. Currently the temporary solution is to go to XI change the Integration Directory : Communication Channel for the JDBC - Activate - Clear Cache. Then go to R3, retrigger the IDOC again. And the above problem will be resolved. But after a while (long idling time again), this problem arise once again.

In the JDBC adapter , select option Disconnect From Database after Each message processing.
This will solve the process as your JDBC Database seems to be closing the connection after a particular idle time.

  • Chart from SQL Colour

I am creating reports in information publisher and wish to include charts from SQL to summarise the data. As some of these reports will include job execution status and similar status fields it would be useful to show Failures in Red and Successes in Green like the "All Targets Status" region on the Enterprise Manager Grid Control home page.
Is there any way I can influence the colour that items are plotted in Pie and other Charts? I am using release Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 10.2.0.1.0.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
    Regards,
    Matthew

    Hi Siegwin,
Although the data section of your generated chart XML contains references to styles, such as CadetBlue2, yellow, etc, you haven't actually defined those styles within the <period_styles> tags of the XML. Therefore, the chart will apply the default blue colour to each timeline of the chart. You'll see that there's a default style called defaultStyle already generated for you in the XML i.e. <period_style name="defaultStyle"> What you need to do is create your own styles, mirroring the defaultStyle example, in order to apply other colours to your gantt chart. I've updated your XML to include a new yellow style, so you can see that one of the elements of the chart now picks up that colour.
My sample chart, Resource Gantt with Custom Styles, should hopefully help to explain what you need to do in order to apply custom colours to your chart: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:60
    I hope this helps.

  • Re: How do I keep an application from being started morethan once?

Here are some quick ideas. None of them should be too hard to implement,
    although each has some drawbacks.
    1. Have a login server track who is logged on, and if there is already a
logon for a given user or a given machine, then deny the application
startup. The nice thing about this is that a user will not be able to have
multiple logins even by going to another machine. Then again, this may not
be so nice, and you also get a possible single point of failure on the
login server for which you will have to prepare.
    2. Drop to the operating system, and get a list of processes for the client
machine. If the name of one of them matches the name of application that
is being run, then deny startup. This avoids a network hit, but requires
some OS specific code. Also, a clever user could change the name of an
executable to get around this. Note that a user could have another login
    on another machine.
    3. Write to a file on the local machine. You can hide the file in some
suitable place, and can also scramble some information so that a user
cannot get around having this file present by reading from the file at
startup and then writing to it. Based on the state of your application,
the file will have some scrambled information indicating if an instance of
an application can be started. If you retain the write lock (i.e. do not
close) the file for the duration of the application, you increase your
security at the risk of a confused user if the application gets terminated
without releasing the lock. Depending on the OS where the client will run,
this could be an issue. If you like this option, perform some experiments
first on all configurations of an example client machine to determine the
behavior. Again, this only works to prevent an extra login on a single
    machine, not system wide.
If you are not concerned about your users hacking around too much and don't
care about a login on another machine, I would opt for some version of
number 3. Otherwise, I would venture number 1.

Yet another quick and dirty solution is to use local ExternalConnections.
This is a single instance per machine solution.
    Example is attached.

Subject: Re: How do I keep an application from being started more than
    once?
    Martin,
there are two ways to read your question
    (a) no more than one instance of an application per machine
    (b) no more than one instance of an application per "user"
now if a user has only one machine, and your system has "userids" and you
    only want
one active "session" per "user" then the distinction is irrelevant.
    However, many systems
let people share logins, so a token based thing enforcing one login will be
    problematic.
The downside of #1 approach suggested by Curtis happens when a machine gets
hosed without "logging" the user off the security system, then they can't
get in until their ticket expires or a sysadmin gets involved. Should be
manageable, however. But this enforces one application
instance per user, unless you check both for the presence of an active
token for that user as well as the presence of a token tied to that
particular node name. Otherwise there is nothing to prevent the same user
from launching the app again and logging in as a different user. This is
definitely the best approach of the bunch, and can be adapted for either
    (a) or (b).
Suggestion # 2 won't work unless the application is built as a compiled
    client,
since the process name will be 'ftexec' and not the "name" of the
    application. And it doesn't
prevent a user from launching the app from a different machine (or people
sharing logins). So again it depends on what you are trying to achieve.
#3 also only prevents multiple instances per machine, not necessarily by
    user. Of course
most people don't have multiple machines. The point is that you may be
    trying to
prevent your users from sharing logins. In which case the file thing won't
    do it.
    Some other ideas:
    1. You could, however, enforce one application per machine using the
installed partition agent's ExecutingPartition instrument name. As long as
the user doesn't run the app in a different environment, you can have the
app check at startup time if there is another
ActivePartition running under the same InstalledPartition name.
    (ActivePartitions are child agents
    of InstalledPartitions).
    2. use the ObjectLocationManager and bind a simple object into the naming
system using a naming scheme such as
    /MyApplication/MyNode or
    /MyApplication/MyUserId
the presence of either one would indicate that another instance of that
application is running on either that machine or that user. Of course
these have to be cleaned out, and subject to similar downside as
alternative #1. So you'd essentially be using the forte naming system as a
    distributed lock manager (ouch).
    3. Have the application remove the shortcut to launch it upon startup, and
recreate it when it is finished, or move it to a hidden place. There it
is - the worst idea I've ever come up with. Don't
    do this!

  • Create Dynamic Chart from sql / plsql

Hi can anybody help with this problem. I need to know the process I can use to create a dynamic pie chart from plsql.
i.e. the functionality is -> user selects a table, then selects a subset of columns and then generates a pie chart of these columns.
I cannot find a way of generating the pie chart sql syntax on the fly. Can anybody do this?

        Hello goldeeneyes!
I'd love to tell you how to adjust your screen settings. Keep in mind that a longer screen timeout may drain your battery significantly, so you may wish to change it back when you are not using your knitting application.
Please go to Settings>Display and change the Sleep to a longer period of time. Happy creating!
