is this cpu supported and going to work?
cheers
PS: do i need to upgrade my 300w psu to 350w too?

First Excuse my english, ok...
Excuse all, it's only my opinion, but I think that the S3 video integrated or the chipset in KM4M have a fault in design or in build.
I read a lot about the PSU issue, ok...That's right all theorics, but when we do all test, interchange PSU, memory, etc,etc...The KM4M always are faulting...
My system is

+5V & +3.3V Combined Load 250W
+5V & +3.3V & +12V Combined Load 452W
My friend system is
The fault KM4M have a PSU with +5/25A *** +3.3/20 *** +12/15A
with only 256Mb-DDR 333 and HD WD 40Gb. 7200. Windows XP-Pro
I disconnect CDRW and Floppy,ok...but the fault is always in 3D Applications...
I update Win XP, S3 Drivers. Bios 1.3. Via 4.51...ALL IS UPDATE,ok...
I test my PSU in my friends KM4M, and the errors are always present
I test the PSU of my friend in my system and ALL is OK...
We interchange memory, Cables, AND ALWAYS THE ERROR IN 3D APPLICATIONS ARE PRESENT...
The fault come from the MSI HQ...

• KM4M-V and Installing Windows XP SP2 on WD 80GB SATA

Here is my situation...
My wifes computer had been having problems. Her older Asus Mainboard had some capacitor corrosion and we had ordered an MSI KM4M-V a while back, but we'd never used it. At the same time we decided we'd upgrade her hard drive. So, I have a brand new KM4M-V and Western Digital Caviar 80GB 7200RPM 8MB. I treated it like a new build using her old case and video card. Nothing wrong with them.
Upon boot, POST goes nicely, recognizes her AMD XP 2000+, I hit F6 when prompted and it continues to set up fine. It asks for the disk supplying the driver for the 3rd Party Driver for SATA. Fine, pick the proper ATA driver from the disk. Next step, asks me to hit F8 to agree to windows terms. Bingo. Done. Then select hard drive to install Windows XP on...
Wait, it says Unknown Disk, and There is no disk installed. Hit C and it says something like you can't install on this drive unless it is an I64 or X86 system... Ummm it lost me. isn't this where its supposed to say create a partition? x amount of space out of x amount available? I can get it to call that up with a bit of monkeying with the up arrow and C or D (create or delete partitions) but mostly it likes to Bluescreen.
Long and short, I can't get it to format this brand new SATA WD Drive, nor install WinXP. I have her older IDE HDD which apparently is fine because we noted her Capacitors on the old mainboard were corroding. I hate use the old drive, 40GB Western Digital 5400RPM (was also a Refurb as the computer was my mothers in the first place - hard drive crashed, RMA'd to WD about 5 years ago came back refurb been using it ever since). Now that we've identified the Asus board as on its last leg, swapped mainboards out with this one that sat new in box for a couple years, put in the brand spankin' new 80GB SATA and having so much of a problem with it thought maybe someone here could give me some insight.
Please, if you can help me figure this out, I thank you in advance.

Ok. I've set a jumper between Pins 5-6, still same problem. Not detecting the SATA drive. Bluescreen Error information following.
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS Memory Options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF77C0C13, 0xF739A7E4, 0x00000000)
*** setupdd.sys - Address F77C0C13 base at F7794000, DateStamp 41107c8f
<end error message> Hope that helps because simply putting a jumper on the HDD hasn't made it detect. I can say that the SATA Hard Drive does not detect on POST. The screen after POST that I am used to seeing, "raid utility", from my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe is not there. I do believe I will check the other setting now. I was hoping that just the jumper would have fixed the issue. Trying the suggestion made after yours.
******** EDIT Please note I am editing this post after rechecking the computers BIOS ********
YES! I get the option to TAB into the VIA Tech VT8237 SATA RAID BIOS Ver 4.50
It shows the hard drive there and there is a RED Flashing Warning that says:
NOTICE:
The number of disks is not adequate to create a RAID!!!
Since I am not seeking to create a RAID array, this should work. I'm going to give it one more pass through in an attempt to install windows. I do believe now I don't need the driver from the disk?
******** 2nd EDIT again editing after trying an install ********
Still same exact Bluescreen and Error Code
Any thoughts?

Could it be this?
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:

Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

• KM4M-L and GeForce2 MX400

Okay, I have a KM4M-L and a GeForce2 MX400 AGP gfx card. I'm *pretty sure* I got them to work together the first time I booted the system. But then I took out the GeForce2 because I was curious and wanted to try out the onboard gfx...
...well, it's not really all that good, is it?
So, I put the GeForce back in. Nope, the system still boots with the onboard. Did I accidentally kill the GeForce somehow? Nope, put it in a friend's computer and it works fine. Return it to the KM4M-L, but it still doesn't want to know.
Check the BIOS settings, everything seems okay (er, as far as I can tell at least).
I hear it should automatically use the AGP card if it's in there.
So why doesn't it?

Didn't work. I even tried plugging the monitor cable into the GeForce card, unplugging the machine, removing the MB battery, replacing the battery and then booting up. (well, I wanted to be sure...)
Dammit, this MB just doesn not seem to understand that there is an AGP card installed. If only I could set it with a dipswitch instead... heck I wish it didn't have an onboard graphics card at all!
So I'm thinking that probably either the AGP port isn't working right, the mechanism that decides which card to initialise isn't working right, or there's some setting I need to change in the CMOS that I'm not aware of. But I did restore the defaults.

• MSI K8N NEO platinum and MOBILE chips

I just found out a problem with MSI K8N NEO Platinum.
I recently upgraded my cpu from Clawhammer DTR 3200+ 1.5V to Clawhammer Mobile 3400+ 1.4V (hoping for better overclocking). To my surprise the mainboard can no longer raise the VCore voltage over 1.45V (it doesn’t matter if I select in the bios 1.5 or 1.55V). The only working option is raising de VCore by 3.3% 5% 8.3% 10%, resulting in a maximum VCore of 1.45 + 1.45 x 10% = 1.6V
I did some googeling and found there is a VCore issue with the K8N NEO and mobile chips, although DTR chips are fully supported (working VCore and multiplier adjustments).
I am using the latest beta bios 1.56B (moded by Pinochio)
Did any of you found a way to resolve this problem? IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE!!!

Bad post...

• KM4M-L and SDRAM PC133; upgrade without OS installation CD

Hi, I am sure that I'll ask you very elementary questions, but I am an absolute beginner.
To upgrade my Duron 800 in a Sempron 2400, I must to change also my mainboard.
In the description of KM4M-L (and the same for the other mainboards) I read about the compatibility with memories pc 1600/2100/2700
... but what about for the compatibility with SDRAM PC 133?
Moreover, I bought my OEM pc with pre-installed Windows ME, in the way that I have the recovery CD, but not the installation one:
my upgrade can give problems to the O.S.?
Thank you all.

thats a combo board ...
Thanks
I have that board in my system, and it works great.
I used another Combo board to build a system for my mom, and it also has been a great system. The board I used for mom's is http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=411
Either of those boards will take PC133 or DDR, along with any Athlon or Duron 266FSB (up to the 2600 266FSB or the Duron 1.8).

• Codec and DPS chips

Hi everybody.
Ip telephone uses the codec. My question is : Is DPS  a part of codec or It is totaly distinct object?
thanks

DSPs are the electronic hardware chips used to codify and decodify (CODEC) a circuit switched audio stream (TDM) in to packet switched audio stream (RTP) and more. RTP-RTP, transcoding, conferencing, etc.

• Linux support and cheap chips

I know Sun is wroking hard to bring Red Hat support ATM. How is that working? How can these new chips be used cheaply for the desktop.

The beauty of Niagara is for applications which are thread-rich and can get the benefit from the low power & high performance for many threads acting upon a problem. In the desktop you might envision Niagara derivatives which use smaller die size and hit a design point which maximizes a performance design point for desktop apps while simultaneously minimizing the cost . You could also envision looking at the appropriate IO for the desktop and integrating it onto this new SOC. There are lots of possibilities here.

• Help with USB ciruit and MAX1555 chip simulation

Hey
So I was designing a circuit to test out with a MAX1555 chip to recharge a circuit. The circuit uses a USB port to get the charge. I cannot how to make the USB port work, also I was wondering if you could help me make a simulation of the MAX1555 chip, I got the layout done. The circuit is attached in the files. I was also wondering if there is any sort of memory chip already in the database so that I would not have to create one.
Thanks

Hello,
The USB components are Layout Only components which means they cannot be simulated. If what you need is to simulate the voltage it will provide you can use a 5 VDC power supply instead of the USB connector and after the simulation, you can replace it by the USB connector.
About the MAX1555, in order to simulate it you are going to need to find the SPICE model from the component. I already looked for it here but I could not find it. Maybe you can try to look for it from other source and even try to get in contact with the manufacturer to see if the SPICE model is available at all.
If you find the SPICE model, you are going to need to create a custom component in Multisim and then import the SPICE model. Then, you will be able to simulate the component.
This article has some information about the Layout Only components and Simulatable components.
There are several memory chips including EPROM, Ram and Sector Flash Memory chips. To find them press Ctrl + w in Multisim to open the "Select a Component" window, select the Master Database, "all groups" and in the Family list, select MEMORY.

That is a really poor PSU. I doubt it will last very long in that system. The risk in using a weak PSU like that comes from what it can damage from failing after being overloaded. When a PSU goes out from being overloaded, it can damage anything, or everything connected to it.

• What to do if you need a new battery and wifi chip for iPhone 4S

I brought my IPhone 4S last year when I was in Brisbane from Dicks smith and i lost the receipt. My phone is starting to play up now the battery runs out in an hour and the wifi doesn't turn on it's greyed out. I live in New Zealand now so where do I send my phone to get fixed ? And how Much will it cost me ?

The warranty is only valid in the country where you bought the phone. You'll have to bring it back Australia to get it serviced. Apple Support does not ship to foreign countries.
