LabVIEW 8.2: Running VI as Application via Runtime creates two "windows" in taskbar

Hello,
I am running a VI as a compiled application in the runtime engine with windows xp. Why does it generate two "windows" in my taskbar (see attached picture) while both of them are the same?
Thanks a lot and best regards.

Hi MichaGue_01,
This is a LV7.1 Vi that does exactly what you want....  Just uncheck all "Allow user..." options under "VI Properties >> Customize..." and your .EXE will show only one window at the task bar.
Hope this helps

  • Can we run a java application using Runtime.exec()?

Can we run a java application using Runtime.exec()?
If yes what should i use "java" or "javaw", and which way?
    r.exec("java","xyz.class");

The best way to run the java application would be to dynamiically load it within the same JVM. Look thru the class "ClassLoader" and the "Class", "Method" etc...clases.
The problem with exec is that it starts another JVM and moreover you dont have the interface where you can throw the Output directly.(indirectly it can be done by openong InputStreams bala blah............). I found this convenient. I am attaching part of my code for easy refernce.

  • How to run a .jar application via the web

I have a java application called up.jar which runs a gui application when run via the command line:
    javaw com.vignette.integrate.runtime.ZipFileRuntime up.jar
I want to run this in a web browser but am just starting to learn html and java. Can anyone please knock a quick script together that I can use to get this to run!!!?
    Thanks
    Ian

The short answer is, it doesn't work like that.
A longer answer: Something that runs as an application doesn't necessarily work as an applet (i.e., in a browser) and making it run as an applet usually can't be done without knowing the details about the code in question.
However it's possible that the jar already contains code that allows it to be invoked as an applet. Did you check vignette.com to see if they have any documentation on this?

Not AIR, but you can, I believe, integrate the Flash Player itself in this way.

    Hi,
How can I run a .sh file via a web application? I want to start and stop a service in linux via a web app.

a service in linux In Unix (including Linux) they are called rather daemons.
Anyway, usually appropriate (root) privileges are needed to start/stop a dameon and a web application should not run as root.
So be prepared that ome "sudo" magic might be needed.

LabVIEW source code from one OS can be ported to another OS (except for OS specific things like ActiveX) but executables cannot. You would need the unix version of LabVIEW and it's app builder to create an new exe.

  • Call a ABAP Web-Dynpro-application via a BSP-Application

We have a BSP-Framework, that call several applications among other things other BSP-Applications, ITS-Application and other systems. Now I want to integrate a ABAP Web Dynpro-Application.
For the moment I can call the ABAP Web Dynpro-Application from our application.
This application runs in the same session as the Framework (verify in transaction sm04).
When I want to call another application in the Framework, the session will be killed (no more sessions in sm04). This happens also, when I want to call the ABAP Web Dynpro-Application a second time.
I guess, that the ABAP-Framework thinks I want to go outside the system (for example www.google.de) and close the session. I found out, that this wouldn't happen, if the application were suspended. But I found no way to tell the application via a url-parameter to suspend.
    Can someone help me?

    Thx for the tip,
but I can't firea suspend plug. Because I'm in BSP. I understand the docu so, that you have the option to call a other apllication like BSP from a ABAP Web Dynpro.
I want to call the ABAP Web Dynpro form BSP like this way.
    1. Start BSP-Framework
    2. Call ABAP Web-Dynpro-Application from BSP
    3. Call another Application from BSP without automatically logout by unload ABAP Web Dynpro. (I have a chance to call the ABAP Web Dynpro again via url to suspend before I call the other app.)

  • Since I installed Mavericks, the system says it run out of applications memory

I only have opened Finder (no any other app) but my Mac says "the system has run out of application memory". I don't know what the problem is.
I have a Late-2011 Macbook Pro with 8 GB of RAM. When I enter to "Activity Monitor" I can see that a process called "mds" use a lot of GB of RAM and 100% of my CPU and also kernel_task uses like 5 to 6 GB of my 8 GB of RAM. I reinstalled the OS and still have the problem.
If someone can help me, I will be very grateful.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

I have a brand new MacBook Pro.  I downloaded Mavericks, and I'm moving my information from my old MacBook Pro via Carbonite to my 2 day old MacBook Pro..  Carbonite tells me to continue to use my system...When I open Safari after a short period of time I get the Out of application memory dialog box.  I also use a Brand New IMac which is not having any problems but am I not using Carbonite until I figure out what the problem is.  So I went to the Activity Monitor and I see Safari using 8.5 GB of memory.  What do I need to do to fix this problem of  Out of application memory. As soon as I "Quit Process" for safari  in the Activity Monitor everything drops back to normal...example kenel_task went to 1.1 GB.  Note Mozella only uses 126 MB of memory.  IS the Issue Safari or something else?

  • Running any wine application instantly crashes entire X server

I'm not really sure how to debug this issue. Suddenly, without performing any pacman update or other major changes, running any wine application (even winecfg) crashes X.
Looking at strace, it appears to be a GPU related issue, and temporarily removing lib32/libXxf86vm (the last module loaded according to strace) fixes the issue. However it breaks the 3d application I want to use under Wine.
On the other hand, glxgears for example works perfectly.

I should add that wine works correctly under the same X environment (well, same configs but not same Xorg.conf) running through 'vncserver' - it's just the GPU-accelerated environment started via 'startx' that I'm having trouble with

  • LabVIEW 8.0 Run Time Engine

    Hi,
I've a question about LabVIEW 8.0 run time engine.
I installed "LabVIEW_8.0_Runtime_Engine" from the NI website, but NI software in Add/Remove Programs does not list LabVIEW 8.0 Runtime Engine. However, LV 7.0 and 7.1.1 run time engines are listed in there.
    Did anyone notice this?
I also have installed TestStand 3.5 on the same computer.
When I run an executable created in LabVIEW 8.0, I get the error message:
"VI version is too early to convert to the current LabVIEW version"
    Comments/suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks.

The first thing that I would check is to go into Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and click on the Software Tab. I would then check to see which version of the LabVIEW RTE shows up (if any). In theory, if the RTE shows up in MAX, then it should show up in Add or Remove Programs under National Instruments Software (highlight this and click Change....this should pull up a list of all NI products on your computer).
    It's in MAX, but not Add/Remove Programs>NI

If it doesn't show up there, then there are two other things that can be done. The first one involves modifying the Windows Registry. There are a great KnowledgeBase article that discusses how to do this in order to remove the driver.
Nope - there's nothing to do with the RTE there either.
    CarlaU wrote:
The second idea is to use a utility we have that I cannot post on the forum. If you create a service request via email or phone then we would be able to help you get the older versions fully uninstalled. You can create a service request at www.ni.com/ask. I hope this helps!
Thanks Carla - I'll try that avenue.

  • LabVIEW 8.0 Run-Time engine & shared variables

Has LabVIEW 8.0 Run-Time Engine the shared variable's support, I wonder?
The thing is that .exe with globals/locals runs alright, but beeing replaced with shared variables it refuses to run.
What's wrong? May be need in library(s) absend?
    Thanks.

You can use the Shared Variable in the Run-Time Engine (you do not need DSC).
Can you be more specific about what happens when it refuses to run? Are you seeing an error message?
If you are using Network-Published shared variables, they need to be deployed before you run the application.  You can either deploy them manually with the project, or your application can programmatically deploy them.  You can find some more information about this in the LabVIEW Help under "Shared Variables and Stand-Alone Applications or Shared Libraries" (follow this link and scroll down to the bottom):

  • I have a problem in the distribution of an application via GPO.

    Hi all,
I have a problem in the distribution of an application via GPO.
Actually the problem is due to non-implementation of the changes of the MST transformation file.
I have an installer in .MSI format, during installation the program requires the following parameters:
    - DatabaseInstance "SRVAPPXXXX"
    - DatabaseName "AAAAA_BBBBB"
    - DatabaseUser "dbuser"
     - DatabasePassword "password"
     - SharedComponentsPath "\\SRVAPPXXXX\PATH"
Then through ORCA I prepared a .MST tranform file  that in the Property section corroborates the above parameters
The installation is successful, but when the program is launched it faults as if the parameters supplied were empty.
So I made a further step, I tried to run the installer from the command line:
    msiexec /qn /l*v c:\log.txt /i "\\SrvappXXXX\Share\Setup.msi" TRANSFORMS=\\SrvappXXXX\Share\Setup.mst
    and also:
    msiexec /qn /l*v c:\log.txt /i "\\SrvappXXXX\Share\Setup.msi" DatabaseInstance="SRVAPPXXXX"  DatabaseName="AAAAA_BBBBB" DatabaseUser="dbuser" DatabasePassword="password" SharedComponentsPath=\\SRVAPPXXXX\PATH
In both case installations ends without any error.
In the first case it does not work, in the second one it does
Before relaunching the installation I have always previously totally  removed the program.
    Any suggestion is very welcome

That's the strange thing, in the log fiile everything seems to have worked fine.
By the way it is a 18k lines file, however:
MSI (s) (D8:BC) [18:21:17:034]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Modifying TRANSFORMS property. Its current value is '\\Srvappxxxx\path\Bravo.mst'. Its new value: '@Bravo.mst'
    Property(S): DatabaseUser = dbuser
    Property(S): DatabaseName =  AAAAA_BBBBB
    Property(S): DatabaseInstance = SRVAPPXXX
    Property(S): SharedComponentsPath = \\SRVAPPXXXX\PATH

  • Can we run a servlet application on mobile?

    Hi,
I'm new to servlets and mobile web as well.
I want to design an application which user can access through mobile and as well as dekstop.
1.) Can we access a web application designed through servlets and JSP via mobile device (e.g, PDA and mobile handphone)?
2.) Do we require to create two "copies" of an application, one for computer based and one for mobile device based?
    3) Do we follow some other architecture to design for a mobile enabled web site?
Please share some examples or papers.
    Thanks in Advance

Servlet and other stuff were developed for a purpose of viewing web pages on any devices etc. Problem with javascript for example is that it is client-runnable. On the other hand, servlets and JSP run on a server. Users (clients) only get a HTML and nothing more (ok maybe XML and other formats), but they don't run code.
That means that you can view a web app on any device that supports HTML. Of course formating can be set for each device (PC, PDA, mobile, etc).
"U want to say that we can access an web application developed using JSP and servlets for the use of dekstops on Mobile or PDA also.": YES
"Or we have to do the WAP programming for the same.": WAP programming is dead for a few years now :)
