Layer/Image Opacity...Achievable ???

People...
I had an idea for a background to our band's MySpace page (we
just released our debut CD); & that was to link to a web page
on my test server that displayed numerous photos & images of
the band…at a very light opacity...to make them appear veiled
& washed out.
I know that, for example...I can place a photo or image in an
Illustrator or Photoshop layer; & then scale back the opacity.
But can this be accomplished in Dreamweaver?
If not...can it be achieved thru any sort of html
manipulation?
Thanks very much,
mark4man

BTW - Please forgive me for past posts in which I have not
responded or came back & thanked a respondent. I am very
appreciative of all the help I have received here...& want
everyone to know it. Thanks again.

Nope. If that's what you used, it wouldn't. ;-) Try placing
this in the
<head>:
<style type="text/css">
.translucent {
/* the filter attribute is recognized in
Internet Explorer and should be a percentage */
filter: Alpha(opacity=50);
/* the -moz-opacity attribute is recognized by
Gecko browsers and should be a decimal */
-moz-opacity: .5;
/* opacity is the proposed CSS3 method, supported
in recent Gecko browsers and Opera 9 */
opacity: .5;
</style>
Then, make the image(s) you want translucent
class="translucent":
<img src="whatever" class="translucent" ...

    OK, kinda slooow here, I hope I'm not trying your patience!? If I understand you correctly, install dummy drivers and then the drivers that came with my printer, Designating NO default printer! Then when I need to use the printer I will have to declare which one each and every time?
    Or, just intall by new printer but do not Delcare it as the Default printer, I guess in this instance there would be NO default printer?
    You may not even have the problem!
    Have you installed the new printer yet?
    There are many more people who don't see it happen than those who do.

  • Question - how to layer images into one

    I've been looking for the "how to steps" to layer images into one. All the sites talk about "photoshop" but none actually brake down as which version etc...if you know the steps please post it up so I can stop looking. Thank you!!

    I'm creating a new website and wanted to have 5 pictures layered onto one another on our company logo. Like on this web page at the top. I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended

  • Can we change the layer's opacity?

    Can we change the layer's opacity in flash CS4? Such as change the photoshop's layer's opactiy.

    No and yes.
    No. A layer is just for stacking things and organizing your artwork. So there is no way to change a whole layer.
    Yes. Movie clip, graphic, and button symbols are the main paradigms in Flash and each of them can have their transparency altered. (In Flash is is called alpha.) So convert your artwork into a movieclip or graphic and then from the properties panel look for the color effects drop down and change the alpha.
    Or you can draw your art with colors that already have an alpha value set.

    I really had to look this one up before answering because I had never heard of that code and it is proprietary to Dreamweaver.  The "tracing*" options are only for DW's design view to help you out when you code moving from graphics applications such as Photoshop, Fireworks, etc to DW.  The code is not valid HTML so no browser will display this for you.  You can find out more here:

  • Image Opacity (Transparency)?

    I don't know where to post this question but I put it here because iPhoto is at least a place of images.
    Is there a way to control image opacity (or transparency) on my Mac?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Joe Aldrich

    Leonie,
    Thanks for the timely and helpful response to my question. As I was working with this area of Preview I saw the tool labeled Instant Alpha but I had no idea what Instant Alpha was about and could not get any help from Preview Help. I played with the Instant Alpha tool for a bit but I still don't understand its function. Adjust Color got me mostly what I was looking for as I was able to vary the color intensity of the image I was working with. I still didn't find a way to vary the opacity of the image so that I could be able to see through the image to what was behind it. At one time I was working with a drawing application that offered this feature. I am currently working with EasyDraw 7 for Mac.
    Anyway, thanks for the help.

  • Combining multiple layers into one "final image" then working on each layer's opacity to affect what the final image looks like

    Ideally the "final" image would be displayed.  I'd go over to the layers panel and work on each layer, dialing up and down the opacity and see the effects on the "final" image.  This is in regards to interior real estate.  Normally I combine my images in Photomatix (different exposures) and have that method down.  But what I'd like to be able to do is to, say, strobe different areas of the scene while shooting maybe six images (same exposure), load those six into CS5 (File>Scripts>Load Files Into Stack) then proceed.
    I've looked at a ton of videos on Youtube and searched CS5 Help and just can't find the answer to what exactly what I'm trying to do.  I can choose Edit>Auto-Blend Layers and that does indeed give me a final image (like in Enfuse or Photomatix) but I haven't found a way to then adjust each individual layer to affect that final image.  And I know there's a way, maybe coming at this from a completely different direction.  Thanks.

    Ok I will take the last question first, since that is probably the easiest.end
    A merged file or a flattened file is the same thing as a composite.
    A merged file still has its transparency and data that is outside the canvas area.
    A flattened file is a merged file that is converted to a background layer that does not support transparency or data outside the canvas.
    A composite can be a merged copy of the existing layers if you use the multiple key strokes I mentioned above. Whereas a merged file is a composite of the original layers. So I personally use the term composite to mean a copy as merged and flatten already explain that process, no need to give them an additional term to mean the same thing.
    Generally blend modes work by selecting individual layers before changing the blend mode. However you can group the layers or convert them to a smart object and apply a blend to that group or object.
    Normally you set the blend mode as you work on each layer. But you could set all of them to overlay or reduce the opacity to 30 or 50 percent to see through all the layers, then adjust them later on.
    I am not sure how it works on the mac, but on windows you can select the blend text box then use the up and down arrow keys to change the blend mode to see how it looks.
    I recommend that you go through the free videos on layers, masks, opacity, and layer styles. This will help you dramatically. Also a few books on the subject will help has well.

  • When & why to create a "master layer" in CS6 for multi-layer image?

    I would appreciate a link or a brief explanation of"when & why" and "how to use" a master layer when working with a multi-layered image (psd or psb) file in CS6.
    I've done a google search and haven't found anything useful.
    I've seen a couple of tutorials that make use of a "master layer" but I don't understand the "when & why."
    Thanks, Chris Bernhardt

    Yes a composit layer isoften a good work layer.  When creatring them in action particulary if you give the actions to others to use thing can go badly if you just use Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E to create them for actions have no idea as to what the current Photoshop is when they start to play. Some targets will cause Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E  not to work. The action also has not idea where in the stack the current target is. So its best to use three steps to create your composir work layer in actions. Shift+Ctrl+Alt+N Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E Shift+Ctrl+] can be shorten to Shift+Ctrl+Alt+N+E Shift+Ctrl+].
    Shift+Ctrl+Alt+N  Adds new enpth layer above current target without a prompt and becones the current target
    Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E Stamps visible layers into the empty layer just added
    Shift+Ctrl+]      moes the stamped layer to the top of the stack.
    The is a good work layer to doing many things Adding a Layers mask can isolate areas of intrest converting it to a smart object lets you use smart filters on it and also have a filter mask. Smert filtere can be re adjusted later.
    Changing the layr blending mond, opacity, fill and blend if gray can help adjust the effect you creating.
    Taking Noel sharpening adjustment layer few more steps
    Create composit later on top add revail all layer mask convert to smart object layer
    create a edge mask using a channel like a luminous selection that look like a blaack and white version of the image use the find edges filter on thet channel and add a levels adjustment to intensift the edges and load it as a selection usint the invert option.
    Target the smart object layer and use one of the sharpening fiters on it. The edge selection will be added as a filter mask for the smart filter used for sharpening.
    Change the smart object layer blending mode to luminosity so clors are not effected just the intensity and then adjust the blend if gary sliders split the black and white sliders to protect the images deepshadows ahd hightlights.  Paint with Black in the layer to remove ant sharpening not desired.
    to tweak the sharpen adjustment layer

  • Shadow layer - Image sequence

    Hello,
    i have a little image sequence of a dvd player opening its drive.
    I didn't create the animation myself, I've just received the png sequence and a shadow layer png sequence extracted from Lightwave.
    After importing both sequences into After Effects, I'm not quite sure what to do with the shadow layer. It doesn't seem like a normal black/white alpha layer, notice the sand-colored background.
    I need to put a custom background image in the background, so how do I properly apply this shadow layer in my composition.
    Thanks!

    If you are unable to get a new shadow render you might be able to do something like this:

  • Bottom layer (image) protrudes from underneath top layer (Indesign shape) after export to PDF

    I have layered Indesign shapes (with 95% opacity) atop a black and white JPG (100% opacity). When I export the file as a PDF and open it in Acrobat, the background image bleeds under the shapes. The amount of bleed varies depending on the zoom level in Acrobat. In Indesign, the background image does not bleed under the shape (they are both the same size in pixels). How do I keep this problem from appearing when I export?
    In the images below, you can see a thin gray strip from the JPG protruding from the bottom of the light blue.

    This might be a result of jpeg compression. Does it happen if you switch to zip?

  • How to save layer image

    Hi, I'm a newbe
    I need to save the image of a layer, but my asset is a psd file, how do I get the image from it?
    Thx

    hi nnzz! welcome to the forum!
    a layer's image pixels are gotten in the same way regardless of the source.
    if your effect is applied to it, you'll have the pixels handed to you from AE automatically.
    in any case you can get the layer's source item and render it through the render suite.
    once you have the pixel datayou can process it and save it in any way you like.

  • Layer image size independent of Background?

    Is it possible to change the image size in Layer 1 independently of the Background image?

    If simply scaling a Layer with Edit > Transform > … is not enough then maybe you should explain what you mean in more detail.

  • Displaying the layer image in a Flex panel

    Hi,
    I need to display the contents (image) of the active layer in a Flex panel. Was thinking along the lines of saving the layer as a temporary image and then loading it into an Image control. But is there a better/less messy way than this?

    I want to know this too.

  • PS Elements 3 Merging Layer Images

    I have PS Elements 3 which I am enjoying. I bought Photoshop Elements for Dummies. In Book 5 Chapter 1 I am attempting to merge two TIF files supplied as examples.As I read the book, it indicates that I should be able to open two files (i.e. The Layers palette will show both file images). I've tried everything and it would appear that only one file image can be opened at a time. Am I missing something? Is this a feature of PS Elements 4 or 5? I can't seem to find out this information. I would appreciate any suggestions.

    The Photo Bin is for "storing" images only, and it cannot be used to accomplish what you want; both images have to be open on the desktop. Only one at a time will show as active in the Layer Palette, but don't worry about that for now. Once you've accomplished the move, both will be visible and you can continue with the instructions Pete posted.
    Pete D.'s instructions might be a bit confusing for a beginner, though. Ignore for right now his suggestion to drag from the Layer Palette; that method will work, but you're currently stumped at an earlier stage. Try this:
    Choose either Tile or Cascade.
    Open both images and have them visible on the desktop. Having them side by side would be helpful but not necessary.
    Make sure the Layer Palette is open.
    Do one of the following:
    A. Control>A on the image you want to move, then Copy it. When that's done, put your mouse on the second image and click on it just so it's active and shows in the Layer Palette. Now do a Paste.
    or
    B. Select the Move tool from the Toolbar. Click on the image you want to move and hold the mouse button down. Drag in onto the second image.

  • Check box or radio button to control image opacity and text field. javascript

    This is a little over head and skill set so I am reaching out to you fine people.
    I am using Adobe acrobat pro x
    I have radio buttons now but I can switch to check box if needed.
    What I need the Java script to do is...
    If Yes is checked then a text field labeled comments appears and an image labeled box changes the opacity to 100%.
    If No is checked then it does the opposite. Text field disappears and image goes to 0% opacity.

    This is the Adobe Reader forum.  You are more likely to receive a helpful answer if you ask in the appropriate Acrobat forum (e.g. Acrobat SDK).
