Layouts in JSP?

As a newbie question, Would appreciate to let me know the Layouts which are available in JSP pages (like project swing layouts).

As a newbie question, Would appreciate to let me know
the Layouts which are available in JSP pages (like
project swing layouts).JSP isn't Java and so there are no LayoutManager's. You'll need to look at an HTML reference.

  • Web layout of jsp report

    Hi All:
    Please let me know how can i run web layout of jsp report and publish it as portlet?
    I have successfully deployed my jsp report(web layout),namely my_rpt.jsp, as a J2EE application and when i write URL direlctly in address bar of browser it runs successfully.
    I have also published (as portlet) successfully my_rpt.jsp, with "execute" type "servlet", and it runs paper layout of report.
    But i m unable to run the web layout of this report,with "execute" type "JSP"
    i have provided "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for JSP reports " = http://webserver.domain_name:port/
    Please help me out whats the problem and how can i run my jsp report with web layout?.One thing more its not the problem with only my_rpt.jsp
    but other reports also shows the same behaviour.
    Any suggestion/solution would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Sam,
    When you register a report with Portal, you can either register it to be run via servlet or as JSP. If you would like to run the same report via servlet as well as a JSP, you will have to register it twice with Portal.
    If you want to run the report as JSP, keep these steps in mind:
    1. While registering the report, select "Execute as JSP" in step 2 of the registration process.
    2. When you write the "Oracle Reports File Name", provide the virtual path to the JSP. As an example, suppose you have written the following as "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for JSP reports "
    http://webserver.domain_name:port/
    And suppose when you run the JSP report successfully outside of Portal, you use the following URL:
    http://webserver.domain_name:port/mycontext_root/my_rpt.jsp
    In this case, you will have to provide the following as the value for "Oracle Reports File Name"
    mycontext_root/my_rpt.jsp
    Notice that the file name is actually not just the file name, but it is qualified by the virtual path to the JSP report (where you have deployed the report).
    If you keep the above 2 steps in mind, you should be able to run the report as JSP from Portal.
    Navneet.

  • Displaying Netui RadioButtonGroup in grid layout in JSP

    Hi All,
    I am trying to display a hashmap as NETUI radiobuttongroup in jsp in a matrix format as below.
    Say map contains 10 elements then it should display as.

    7 8 9
    10
    I am not able to get it through. Any help is appreaciated.

    No, there is nothing that you can do.  The hierarchial list is presented in that view only.

  • What is the difference between jsp :include and server side include

    what is the difference between jsp :include and server side include(request dispatcher include method)????
    i understand that both request dispatcher include method and jsp:include take dynamic data,so when would one use request dispatcher include and when jsp:include.
    Is the usage interchangeable?i believe jsp include is used only for jsp/html but include directive can be used to include servlets ,jsp and html....correct me if i m wrong and
    do suggest if u hav ny other diff in this context...

    The difference really is: in what format do you want your inclusions? If your environment has many Java developers and only a few designers that focus mainly on, say, Flash, that might push you more towards the server-side include() directive. Or, if you have a large set of pages that receive dynamic content that is displayed in a consistent fashion (such as a workflow header area on a page).
    If, on the other hand, you have more web designers, there may be a greater desire to deal in markup rather than Java code. Java developers themselves might prefer to view markup (JSP) that more resembles the eventual output than something occuring in Java code.
    Finally, there are considerations of tiering. While it is totally possible to (and I have previously) implement 'view classes' that render markup or generate layout templates, JSP's offer, IMO, a subtle, psychological advantage. By forcing a developer to work in a different format, markup versus Java source, the separation on view from controller and model becomes a bit easier. It is still possible to make mistakes, but if a developer at some point notices, "Wait, I'm in a JSP, should I be importing a java.sql class?", then the choice to use JSP includes has paid off in spades.

  • Best practice for component layout?

    Hi,can people tell me their views on best practice in this area, using JSF.
    Eg, say I want this:
        LabelSml    InputField
        LabelLarge  InputField... ie 2 labels, 2 fields, vertically alligned, and with some space between the label and the field.
    and this one:
        Field                             Field... ie 2 fields with a lot of space between them.
    Finally, are there any examples on the web of UIs with many discrete fields on them (as opposed to logon/helloWorld and matrix data control), where I can look at how the design has been done.
    Marc

    I don't know if our solution is a best practice. We are not using the label property of input components because the alignment does not satisfy then. Instead we are using a <h:panelGrid> and nest <ui:label> and <ui:textField> (Studio Creator components) components in it. Multiple components in one cell are surrounded with a nested layout or grid panel. The number of columns is set by the attribute "columns" and width is controlled by the attribute "columnClasses". Example
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jsp:root version="1.2" xmlns:bp="http://java.sun.com/blueprints/ui/14" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"

  • Empty Elements: Breach with Paragraph 2.1.4 of JSP 1.1 Specificat ion?

    Hi,
              I think I found a violation of the JSP1.1 spec and I'd like to know
              opinions if I am correct or if I missed something.
              This is what the JSP spec says on empty elements:
              2.1.4 Empty Elements
              Following the XML specification, an element described using an empty tag
              is
              indistinguishable from one using a start tag, an empty body, and an end
              tag.
              Thus there should be no difference between these two custom tags:
              1. <sw:cv key="string" number="1" />
              2. <sw:cv key="string" number="1"></sw:cv>
              While the first compiles fine, the second produces the following error
              message on WebLogic 5.1 SP9:
              Parsing of JSP File '/layouts/1029128.jsp' failed:
              /layouts/1029128.jsp(-1): Error in tag library at: 'sw': The TLD
              description for tag 'cv' requires that the body be empty.
              probably occurred due to an error in /layouts/1029128.jsp line -1:
              I generate my JSPs using an XSLT transformation and the processor
              generates the tags with empty elements. I do not see a chance to change
              this behaviour. A possible workaround could be to allow a tag body, but
              I am afraid of possible side effects (performance, misuse of the tag).
              Would you agree that this behaviour is in contradiction to the
              specification?
              Thanks for your time!
              Daniel

  • JSP : Tiles Error tag.getAsString : component context is not defined

    JSP : Tiles Error tag.getAsString : component context is not defined
    Im working with Struts 1.1 and Tiles, under Tomcat 5.0.16
    My application works fine using Struts 1.1 alone, however, when attempting to run the application in a Tiles environment, I get an error:

    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Error - tag.getAsString : component context is not defined. Check tag syntax

    I have defined this in my tiles-defs.xml file, and as far as I can tell, everything else is configured properly (I have looked over the included Struts document examples, and others on the web, and I seem to have everything configured identically).
    What am I missing???
    I have created a series of mostly empty JSP files, for simplicity sake.
    JSP FILES:
    -     header.jsp
    -     footer.jsp
    -     menu.jsp
    -     rootLayout.jsp

    I found an entry in the Mail Archive for Struts. I got it working. My working code is below. You need to in the base JSP import the header and put the 'title' out to it.
    tiles:def file:
    <!DOCTYPE tiles-definitions PUBLIC
    "-//Apache Software Foundation//DTD Tiles Configuration 1.1//EN"
    "http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/dtds/tiles-config_1_1.dtd">

    <put name="message" value="/common/message.jsp"/>
    <put name="content" value="${content}"/>
    <put name="navbar" value="/common/navbar.jsp"/>
    </definition>
    <definition name="petstore.Login" extends=".petstore.Base" >
    <put name="title" value="Login Page" />
    <put name="content" value="/Logon.jsp"/>
    <put name="test1" value="test1value"/>
    </definition>
    base tile def:
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-tiles.tld" prefix="tiles"%>
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <html:html>
    <head>
    <html:base/>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
    <title>pet store common (jsp)</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <tiles:insert attribute="header">
    <%-- both of these attributes are accessible from header.jsp It works!!! --%>
    <tiles:put name="title" beanName="title" beanScope="tile" />
    <tiles:put name="test1" beanName="test1" beanScope="tile" />
    </tiles:insert>
    <%-- <tiles:get name="header" /> --%>
    <tiles:get name="message" />
    <tiles:get name="content" />
    <tiles:get name="navbar" />
    </body>
    </html:html>
    Getting access to the title value in the header.jsp file:
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld" prefix="bean"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-html.tld" prefix="html"%>

  • Oracle Reports Not working in Web Layout

    Hi,
    I am facing problem to run oracle reports in web layout working fine in paper layout. Please tell me the steps how to fix this problem?
    Regards,
    Waqar Shafique

    Hello,
    The easiest way to develop is to use the Report Builder Wizzard.Other example can be found in this note:
    How to Generate Excel output in browser using Reports9i JSP (Doc ID 240819.1)
    You can also search on google.
    For deployment check:

  • Changing layout-config.xml in custom b2c scenario

    Hi,
    I've created a cutom b2c project and am making changes to the layout. In doing this I have been forced to make a change to the WEB-INF\xcm\sap\layout-config.xml to add a navigator UIArea to the UILayout 'basketLayout' as follows:
        <UILayout name="basketLayout"  path="/appbase/layout/genericLayout.jsp"
                    titleArea="workarea">
            <UIArea name ="header"      defaultComponent="header" cssIdName="header" />
            <UIArea name ="navigator"   defaultComponent="blankSpace" cssIdName="navigator" />
            <UIArea name ="workarea"    defaultComponent="basketDisplay" cssIdName="basketEntry" />
            <UIArea name ="miniBasket"  defaultComponent="miniBasketWithoutBasket" cssIdName="miniBasket" />
        </UILayout>
    ... and the blankSpace component...
        <UIComponent name="blankSpace"            page="/b2c/blank.inc.jsp"/>
    I have of course also created the /b2c/blank.inc.jsp file.
    The problem is that my changes do not appear in the browser. I have tried deleting all the caches in the admin, restarting the app and even deleting the application and re-building it and re-deploying it.
    What I have noticed is that when syncing the application with the NWDS sync plugin, it is the file in the original b2c app and not my custom app, which gets updated.
    However, this seems somewhat irrelevant as I have also tried copying the corrected layout-config.xml to both the original and the changed version on the server, restarting the app and once again seeing no result.
    I'm obviously missing something! Can anyone tell me what it might be?
    Thanks,
    Craig

  • 9i Reports Graphic using JSP not showing in Portal

    Using Portal Rel 2, 9iAS Report Server Rel 2, Oracle 9i database and 9iDS Report Builder, SUN servers and Windows2000 (for Builder).
    I've created 2 reports very simple, using scott.emp table, one tabular (deptno,ename, salary) and one line graph (ename,salary) both created as .RDF (paper layout) and .JSP (web layout).
    The tabular reports both work fine on portal (after setting Oracle Reports Security as Servelet and as JSP).
    The graphics only work as Servlets , as .JSP it shows the little box with the red x.
    If I run the reports outside of portal, all 4 work fine.
    Any idea what might be the problem?
    Thanks in advance for all your help on this.
    Max.

    Hi Zsolt:
    Thanks for your response. May I ask you further questions regarding your solution:
    1) content SCORM compliant?? (yes/no)
    Yes, it is SCORM compliant
    2) check in / publish the content in the Authoring Environment
    I am not sure if my colleague has check-in/publish it in AE. I'll check on this one.
    3) go to the LSO back-end and create a WBT
    Do you mean creating a Course Type with Delivery Method "WBT"? if yes, I've done so. If no, then how do I do it?
    4) enclose the cheked in / published content
    Do you mean creating IT5006 - Course Type Content to link the content to the course type? if yes, I've done so. If no, then how do I do it?
    5) try to find on the portal again
    I'll ask my colleague about Step 2 and then I'll re-try again..
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi,
    As long as your layout conforms with the bighorn family of layouts you should be ok. In other words if the DISC apis work as expected dvt dnd should also work.

  • Customization Of Portal Layout error

    Hi,
    I have created 4 layouts and we have the problem with one of the layouts(defaultDynamicLayoutNoRhs.jsp).The other 3 are working fine
    The code is correct, but the iview containers are appearing in the layout the wrong way round (breadcrumb and detailed navigation).
    Breadcrumb container is in place of the Detailed Navigation Area and vice versa.Can you review the below and suggest how to move forward on this.
    Below is  the .jsp file and the Portalapp.xml that i have used.
    JSP File:

  • Portlets layout - or pushing the portlets to the limit...

    Hi! I am currently working on a projeet where we are planning in using the portlets feature of the pers. engine. The problem we have right now is the limitations related to the layout of the portlets.
    So is there anyone out there that has used the portlets without ending up with a portal that looks like myYahoo.com or myGo.com
    Any exemple, sample of code, advices would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Christian

    There are many WLPS customers that have implemented a non-yahoo style portal. Maybe they can step forward to show you how they did it. If that doesn't work, try contacting your BEA sales rep to see if
    they can set you up with our customers that have done this. Also, we recently created a marketing demo that uses WLPS in a very GUI creative way called the Mega Financial Corp demo. I don't know if we are
    giving out the JSP source for this but ask your sales rep about it.
    Since we ship you all of the JSP source in WLPS for the portal layout (portal.jsp, portalcontent.jsp, and friends) you can freely customize this layout to meet your needs.
    Hope that helps!
