Ld segmentation fault generating output file

I have a fairly large executable that is being compiled on Solaris 8 with gcc 3.2.3 configured with the Solaris 64 bit ld. ld is failing with a segmentation fault during the output file generation phase.
A stack track of ld at the time of the seg fault look like the following:
update_osym
update_outfile
ld_main
main
One of the registers referenced in the affending assembly instruction is suspiciously close
to 64K.
The .o's have been compiled with the -g option which generates quite a bit of debug information.
Has anyone seen this problem and is there any workaround other than not compiling with -g ?

A few (sort of obvious) things to check:
1) Are you running the latest linker patch? It seems to be updated fairly often. For solaris 8, the current revision is 109147-26
2) Are you invoking ld directly, or letting gcc invoke it for you? In general it is much better to let the compiler binary drive ld.

  • In RoboHelp 11 Responsive HTML5, is it possible to have 2 different language outputs in one generated output file?

    In RoboHelp 11 Responsive HTML5, is it possible to have 2 different language outputs in one generated output file, similar to WebHelp where the use can select the language from a drop-down list? In Webhelp output you could create multiple Content categories. Is there something similar with the responsive output, or am I forced to have a completely separate set of output files for each language (for example, English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Arabic)?

    As Rick, mentions, there's no default way.
    Having said that, there's nothing stopping you from doing it yourself. You can add a kind of language selector to the layout and set that for every html5 output. With some JavaScript, you can have the user switch between your outputs. It would look like content categories, but you'll have build it yourself.

    how do i attain this?

    Hello,
    One alternate solution can be :
    Execute your report in background and then send the data to Spool .
    From this spool , you can download the data in excel file.

  • Diplaying segment name in output file using receiver FCC

    Hi,
    we have a idoc to file scenario. we are using FCC at the receiver. the flat file generated should have the segment names before the values .
    for example, if the structure is  something like this
    <root tag>
       <serment1>
          field1
          field2
       <segment2>
            field1
            field2
       <segment2>
               field1
               field2
    the output should be in the below format
    segment1   field1value,field2value
    segment2   field1value,field2value
    segment2   field1value,field2value
    can some one guide me how to achieve the same. Also if the segment repeats, in the output also it shoukld appear
    Best Regards
    Deepika

    In mapping, output structure, create an extra field at the beginning and
    map that field to a constant value same as the source segment name.
    In Receiver FCC, use following configuration.
       Recordset Structure:      segment1,segment2(specify all segments seperated by comma)
      segment1.fieldSeparator :   , (it is comma)
      segment1.endSeparator :'nl'
      segment2.fieldSeparator :   ,
      segment2.endSeparator :'nl'
    specify the same fieldSeparator and endSeperator for the other segments also

  • Timestap in Output File

    Hi All,
    I am using Oracle Developers Suite 10g. I want to generate output file of the Report Developer with time stamp like report01_19-03-2007_17-45-20.rtf
    What to do? I am using the following script to generate the report but its generating only like report01.rtf file. Please help so that instead of report01.rtf I can have report01_19-03-2007_17-45-20.rtf file (this is with current date+time).
    At desname I have put ?????? if I don't put any thing it generates report01.rtf file.
    C:\DevSuiteHome_1\bin\rwrun.exe userid=username/password@DB
    report=C:\scm\reports\repfiles\oracle\report01.rep
    distribute=no

    Improve script
    Let include dinamic desname in
    desname=
    Or use/rename somehow (by script)
    report01.rtf
    filename with accordance to file timestamp...
    ( if report01.rtf is not overwritten )

  • Generate XML Files

    I have an Oracle database and need to generate output files that contain the results of queries. The output files must be in xml format. I have the dtd's and I need to ensure that the xml files are in the defined format. I have limited experience of using xml. How should I go about this?

    I am looking into using the XSQL utility to produce xml pages. I have looked at the documentation but I still have some questions as follows:
    I have dtd's already and I am wondering
    - how the format of the xml pages is determined?
    - will XSQL use the dtd's for the purpose of formatting?
    - with what versions of the oracle database is this feature available?

  • Segmentation fault when calling gpctr function from matlab mex file

    I am trying to write a simple mex file for square wave generation using counter1 of PCI-6035E. I am using matlab's native compiler to compile and link with the nidaq32 library, ver.6.9.3, with no errors. When the mex function is called from a matlab script, however, the program crashes at the first call, to reset the counter. (I can generate a square wave with the test panel.)

    Sorry for the delay in responding. I got caught up in other stuff. I am attaching my little program as requested. As you can see, I have just wrapped a mexFunction call round the example code for square wave generation. After I posted this, I tracked down a copy of BorlandC++, installed it on my computer and recompiled using that compiler and *b.* libraries. And would you know it, the program works. The question remains, though, why it doesn't work with Matlab's native lcc compiler. Plus, I have limited disk space, so if I can do without BorlandC, I can use the extra room. The runtime error was a Segmentation fault that I traced to the first call to GPCTR_Control.
