LDAP - Weblogic 8.1 issue

Using weblogic 8.1 - I have configured a OpenLDAP server. How can I programmatically
use LDAP for user authentication.
I dont need application level user authentication I just need to do it within
the application programmatically for certain features. I also dont have knowledge
of the LDAP configurations as they are set up at a client site and vary per installation.
What is the best way to approach this situation.

So if I use the weblogic.security.services.Authentication.login() API will i always
be able to authenticate based upon how the client configures it for eg: if a client
chooses Novell Ldap. Also I dont need to authenticate at the web page level since
that is handled differenty. I only need to be able to programmatically authenticate
within my application to provide access to certain features in my app. Sounds
like what you said would work. So does this mean that the realm configured should
be "optional" I guess and i can check for the credentials within my app and verify
the users?

Once WLS 8.1 is configured to use Open LDAP for user authentication it
would be
possible to have programmatic authentication from within a server application
by using the weblogic.security.services.Authentication.login() API.

Is this what you are looking for? Can you describe in more detail what
you would
like to accomplish?

• OBIEE 11G 64-Bit Windows LDAP Admin Server Startup Issue

All,
I have OBIEE 11G installed on 64-bit Windows, and can see all my LDAP users inside Admin Console just fine. When I reorder my LDAP above the DefaultAuthenticator, and make them both 'SUFFICIENT', my Admin Server no longer starts. It hangs on a line in the AdminServer.log that roughly says '<Security initializing using security realm myrealm.>'. Has anyone ran into this? If so, how do you get the Admin Server to start with a non default LDAP authenticator? I've tried re-ordering numerous ways with the DefaultIdentityAsserter in the middle and at the bottom; I've also tried switching the Control Flags on both with REQUIRED and OPTIONAL, all to no avail. Finally, I tried deleting out the DefaultAuthenticator all together, and it still won't start. At this point, I'm assuming this is another 64-bit issue that was not tested properly. Any thoughts/help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Josh

Paul,
Unfortunately that made no difference. I have pasted in the startup log below. Perhaps someone has some insight into what's happening?

• Changelog.data size growing too big in embedded LDAP /weblogic

Hi Team,
We have embedded LDAP.
We are having issues in setting the no of entries for changelog.data.
Could anyone of you help as how could we set the treshold for changelog.data .
we are using Linux server and weblogic as app server.
Thanks In Advance..

Thanks..
But that doesnt seemed to be working.
I have set following parameter in startup
-javaagent:/app/platform/wily/current//Agent.jar -Dcom.wily.introscope.agentProfile=/app/platform/wily/current/IntroscopeAgent.profile - Dcom.wily.introscope.agent.agentName=Cramer-Dev0-RM-Admin -Dweblogic.security.ldap.changeLogThreshold=10 -Dweblogic.security.ldap.maxSize=1048576
Now prior to setting 10 ,I had set it to 30 cleared changelog.data and restarted .It got generated with 28mb size.
After setting 10 also its the same size of changelog that i could see.
could you tell me what went wrong..
Thanks

• Migration from Oracle App Server 10.1.3.5 to WebLogic 12 - Expected issues?

Hi all,
the company I work for wants to migrate its Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 (with JRE 1.6) to WebLogic 12 and we need to guess which kind of remediation could be needed to have all web-apps still working.
The concerned applications are using dated technologies:
direct JDBC connections to db
JPA 1.0
connection pools with Oracle JDBC drivers
some apps are compiled with Java 1.4, some others with Java 1.6
servlet 2.3
JSP 2.0
We do not expect to come accross big issues but I'm not skilled on this kind of matters so I would like to receive seggestions or alerts from experts. Any remark will be appreciated.
Thank you all.
Regards,
Luca

Hi Luca,
It would be better if you asked this question in the Application Server forum which should be at this URL -

One thing I have noticed is that the web.xml for the WAR file had the following XSD:
<web-app version="2.5" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"

I also changed the version to 2.4 and checked. It was not working.
I am not sure about the problem with deployment. If someone could help me out in this issue, it will be a great help to me.
Thanks,
Hari.

Restart the server and see if you get any deployment error in log files. Do you see proper deployment msg in the logs? May be there is some issue in weblogic.xml which is not allowing app to deploy properly. How does the app appear in Admin console under deployments?

• Weblogic Foreign Server issue

Hi,
We were trying to integrate Tibco EMS with WLS 10.3 (using Foreign JMS Server). We are using Spring as our app container (the one which basically creates/manages connections, sessions etc)
I am able to listen to the topics both durably and non-durable mode by hardcoding the username/passwords in the spring config directly.
We didnt want this hardcoding of credentials, so moved to using the Foreign JMS Provider implementation from Weblogic. To access the ConnectionFactories I now use resource-ref in the web.xml and have wired spring to use the JNDI lookup using these resource-refs to lookup the topic and connection factories. This works fine for non-durable subscription.
Issue: For durable subscriptions, using Foreign JMS Providers (like mentioned above) I get this error
java.lang.ClassCastException: com.tibco.tibjms.TibjmsXASession cannot be cast to javax.jms.TopicSession
at weblogic.deployment.jms.PooledSession.createDurableSubscriber(PooledSession.java:348)
at org.springframework.jms.listener.AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.createConsumer(AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.java:469)
at org.springframework.jms.listener.AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.createListenerConsumer(AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.java:221)
at org.springframework.jms.listener.AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.doReceiveAndExecute(AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.java:305)
at org.springframework.jms.listener.AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.receiveAndExecute(AbstractPollingMessageListenerContainer.java:261)
at org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer$AsyncMessageListenerInvoker.invokeListener(DefaultMessageListenerContainer.java:1002)
at org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer$AsyncMessageListenerInvoker.executeOngoingLoop(DefaultMessageListenerContainer.java:994)
at org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer$AsyncMessageListenerInvoker.run(DefaultMessageListenerContainer.java:896)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)
The issue isnt with non-XA or XA connectionFactories either. When I tried using a non-XA conn factory I get a similar error but the cast exception is between TopicSessionImpl and TopicSession.
My spring config is -
<jms:listener-container container-type="default"
connection-factory="jmsTopicConnectionFactory"
cache="none"
acknowledge="auto"
destination-resolver="gadgetDestinationResolver" destination-type="durableTopic" client-id="testClientId" >
<jms:listener destination="jms/GL.GADGET.IN" ref="publishThumbnailListener" subscription="localhost7001durable" />
</jms:listener-container>
Not sure if I need to set anything other than client-id, durableSubscriptionName while subscribing.
Any idea what might be wrong or if theres anything else I need setting up?
Thanks
Pdk

The stack trace seems to indicate that the TIBCO client library that you are using supports JMS 1.1 only, although JMS 1.1 Spec requires JMS providers to support both 1.0.2 and 1.1 APIs. You can check and see if there is a client library from TIBCO that supports JMS 1.0.2 as well.
Meanwhile, Weblogic JMS pooling code is supposed to support both JMS 1.0.2 and 1.1. It looks like it doe not support 1.1 for creating a durable subscriber on a javax.jms.Sessiom. You can contact Oracle support for a fix.

• Weblogic Portal Application Issue | Previous Page getting rendered

Problem:
A (Login) --> B (Reset Password) --> A (Login)
Submitting details on Page A takes to Page B. Clicking a link on Page B takes back to Page A. Making a selection in the header of Page A refreshes the page to change the locale of the page.
What must happen?
Page A should be refreshed. Since the refresh action of the page is set as begin, so begin of all the portlets on the page should be called. Page A i.e. login page with changed locale should be displayed.
What is happening?
Begin of Page B (which is a previous page) is getting called up. Result: Reset Password page is getting rendered and displayed.
Possible Actions:
I checked the render Cacheable property of the portlets to check if it is set to true. I was of the impression due to portlet caching mechanism; the previous portlet is called again.
When I click the back link on Page B (taking me to page), I have modified the URL as follows:
Assuming that _nfls will reset the page on which action is done.
Yet the previous page is getting rendered. I am not getting any clue on what can be other possible issue. May be some property of portlet is required to be set. If anyone has faced such issue, please let me know.
Note:
The application is developed using Weblogic Portal 9.2 with AndroMDA.

[b]Analysis:
Migrating J2EE Application from Oracle 10g Application Server to Oracle 11g Weblogic Server. I am stuck with above two issues. This issue not present while running in Oracle 10g Application Server
1) I was thinking it is something to do with JSTL versions and the below command is executed to make the JSTL version to jstl 1.1.2
java weblogic.Deployer -adminurl t3://localhost:7001 -user weblogic -password weblogic -deploy -library D:/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/deployable-libraries/jstl-1.1.2.war
The problem remains same.
2) Now <wls:prefer-web-inf-classes>true</wls:prefer-web-inf-classes> is added to weblogic.xml to make the Web application to load application specific libraries from WEB-INF/lib directory.
The problem remains same.
3) I checked Class Loader Analysis Tool and found conflicting classes and based on CAT recommendation the below list is added to weblogic.xml and <wls:prefer-web-inf-classes>true</wls:prefer-web-inf-classes> is removed since both cannot co-exist.

• HELP URGENT : Schema of the LDAP WebLogic 8.1 sp 3

Hi,
I need to get schema of the LDAP of Weblogic 8,1 sp 3, therefore I go to migrate the control of access for openLdap.
Thanks

Even if it is a very naive question but I just cannot get it worked, what do you mean by using jdk 1.5 on client side?
I guess client side is completely out of WLS so the jdk to be used on the client side is not set in the environment.
However, the Exception Im getting is on the server side, when it tries to run the code automatically generated from Kapow Mashup Server 6.3. That code is embedded in a jar file, but it seems it makes a call to the java.lang.StringBuilder class which as said before, it is only available from jdk 1.5 onwards.
Should I contact Kapow Mashup Server support to see how the sample code is generated or I am missing something?
Regards.

• OSB: WebLogic lo4j performance issue

Hi
I have configured log4j on WebLogic server 11g.
Oracle Service Bus (OSB) uses this log4j file and writes log in AdminServer/logs/ApplicationLogs directory.
Log level is 'DEBUG' and quite a lot data is being logged.
lately i have noticed that server is running very slow.
any guidelines/links?
Thanks

If you feel that that excessive logging is the issue, then you can start by tune the WLS logging and compare the performance.
Go to WLS console > Servers > Servername > Logging > Advanced and set the following severity levels
‘Warning’ for “Log File” section;
‘Notice’ for “Standard out” section;
‘Warning’ for “Domain log broadcaster” section;
‘Error’ for “Memory buffer’’ section;
Then click on ‘HTTP’ tab in ‘Logging’ section. Uncheck the box “HTTP access log file enabled” if it is checked.If you still face issues, then please give more details of the domain and the services deployed.
Thanks,
Patrick

• Exception when using TIBCO EMS for a WebLogic MDB - intermittent issue

We have a weblogic app that uses an MDB to retreive messages from TIB EMS.
There are no exceptions at first - the messages are retreived and everything works well.
But after a few days and then we see the following exception:

We do not know why this comes up after a few days.
Any help in tracking this down will be greatly appreciated.
We are using Weblogic Server 10.0

Hi,
This might be happening when the MDB tries to reconnect to the foreign destination.
Have you configured the TIB EMS as Foreign JMS provider in WLS ?
Do you know whether this issue happens only when
1) the MDB gets redeployed ?
2) the server instance that hosts the foreign dest gets bounced?
3) the JMS module that defines the foreign JMS server gets redeployed ?
Anyway, based on a quick search in support cases, looks like this issue has been already fixed.
Please contact the customer support to get the appropriate patch.
Thanks

• LDAP Weblogic problem!!! Please Help

Hi,
We are trying implement LDAP authentication for our web application on
Weblogic 6.1. We are using iPlanet Directory server 5.1. We are badly
struck, as we don't have enough information.
Please advise and clarify on the following:
1. We have configured an LDAP ream and the caching realm on weblogic.
We have used LDAP realm as authenticating realm for our application.
We are getting the users created on LDAP in weblogic. But HTTP simple
authentication is not recognizing users on LDAP!! Weblogic users are
being recognized!!! We have given LDAP realm in <login-config> in
web.xml, What could be wrong !!?
2. We undestand from the docs that the LDAP as an alternate security
realm can do only authentication, but file realm will continue to do
authorization. If it is so, where and how do we specify roles and ACLs
while using LDAP realm for authentication?
Please provide us if there are any URLs having information or samples
on LDAP implementation with Weblogic.
Thanks in advance.

Gokul,
Attached are the sample web.xml(webapp deployment desc) and
weblogic.xml(weblogic specific dep desc for webapp). Try adding a user
"ldapUser" and group "ldapGroup" in ldap and see if you still can't get
authenticated.
Also turn on the debug for security realm DebugSecurityRealm="true", this is
an attribute of <ServerDebug> element in config.xml.
