Library all messed up (itunes match?)

Hello,
My library seems to have been totally re(dis)organised by itunes match. Albums have been split into several albums - often by artist. Audio books seem to be in pieces all over the place and never in order. I have no idea where to start. It's across all my devices. Can anyone offer help- I can't find a thread that seems to be quite the same on here. and cant help thinking it's something simple. Many thanks.

This also happened to me earlier this month. I wasn't quite sure how or what happened as I was doing a lot of updating all at once between my PC and my macbook, but essentially my library became entirely screwed on both computers when all was said and done. I tried to just redownload everything from the cloud, and it was all completely wrong. The audio files were still there, but they were all labeled incorrectly. After a few hours in the store and then on the phone I gave up since they couldn't fix it in the store and couldn't even comprehend what I was saying on the phone. Luckily it was only my oldest music that was messed up (ironically all the music I physically owned on CD), so I pulled an older backup and manually reloaded the newer stuff and got everything back the way it should be.
Since I actually wanted to use match for my macbook and iphone I decided to make a new backup and then give match another shot. Aaaaaaaand it completely rewrote my entire library again. 2901 of ~15000 songs were aimlessly relabled as different songs and thrown into different folders. So now I'm restoring it from backup yet again and trying my hardest to purge any possible connection with this awful service. Side note: I used match for a year when it first came out and it worked fairly well.
Just to complete the experience, I was told that I could just use the "report a problem" button to get a refund. That of course doesn't work, it only appears to work for actual content purchases. It gave me an error when I tried it on my match purchase and I just had to spend 30 minutes on the phone (and apple tries really hard to prevent you from actually talking to a person) to get a refund/cancel my subscription.
Been using a mac and itunes since 2004 and this has me seriously considering moving away from apple.

  • I recently downloaded lots of CD's to my itunes library. I have itunes match. None of the downloads are appearing on my ipad or iphone. All settings are correct. Anything I purchase on itunes shows up in the cloud on all the devices.

I downloaded CD's to my itunes library. I have itunes match. All my itunes purchased music is on my ipad and iphone cloud. For some reason, while the cloud appears in my library, the CD's that I downloaded (popular ones that itunes recognize) are not showing up on my ipad2 and my iphone4s. When I purchase songs from itunes directly they show up on all i devices (with the cloud icon). In my itunes library all the new downloads from CD's have the icloud icon. However, none of these downloads are showing up on my ipad and iphone as stated above. All my settings are correct. I am sure I am missing something, but not sure what....if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. thanks.

  • Can you download all of your iTunes match account onto your computer?  I screwed up my iPod that had the entire library on it and the computer that had the hard copies of the files on it blew a hard drive.  I need to get the files back from iTunes Match.

Can you recover/download all of your iTunes Match account onto your computer?  I synced the iPod that I had the entire library on to a new computer and lost almost all of my music.  The old computer that had the library on it blew a hard drive and I can't sync the iPod back to the old computer.  Everything is in iTunes Match, but can I load it onto my computer, so I can get it back on my classic iPod?

If you had iTunes Match before all this happened, yes. Just log in, activate iTM and download the music. If you did not have iTunes Match prior to these incidents, no, it can not help you.
You should also be doing regular backups of your personal data to an extnal HDD. If you had a backup hue could simply restore it.

  • 2 icloud ids, 2 apple id, 1 library-- how to use iTunes match?

My wife and I have different ITunes accounts, different Icloud accounts---  on our iPhones, but share the same music library (same iMac).  Can we use the same iTunes match account with both iPhones while still maintaining separate ID's?
I would even be willing to pay for two accounts, if I had to, but that doesn't seem like that's an option, either, with one library.
My all music content is working perfectly on my devices but my wife have not access to the benefits of ITunes Match.
We are all figuring this out as we go, if anyone is trying to do what I'm doing, please let me know what solutions you have come up with.
    Thank you,

I am struggling with this, as well.  Near as I can tell, the only way to get iTunes Match to work on both devices is to sign in with the Apple ID that purchased the subscription to iTunes Match.  You can have separate iCloud IDs, but for iTunes Match, it appears that you must share an Apple ID.

  • I want to save my music library in the cloud /iTunes Match, but want both my wife's devices and mine to have access. Is this possible, and what's the best way to do this?

    Hi all,
Can I store my iTunes file in the cloud, so that my wife and I can access it from various devices.
Devices would include 2 iPhone 6S, 2 iPad2s, couple of iPods and a MacBook Air.
We can't save all the music to a hard drive due to storage size.
If we save it to the Cloud, can we create playlists and only download these as /when we need them?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

    Hi,
Your music needs to be in your iTunes library on your computer or on an external drive. Read this user topic Make and keep a backup of your iTunes library, and only stream from the cloud.
You can only use one Apple ID with match. For your wife to get access to your music in the cloud, you will need to use your Apple ID

  • I successfully added a new computer to itunes match, but I can't import the library from this computer: itunes match still wants me to pay ! What can I do ?

    Hi,
Everything is in the title... I just "successfully" added my old PC to itunes match in order to listen to my old library on my mac, but itunes won't associate my music to anything : when I go to itunes match in itunes, all I can do is pay... And I'm already paying, and itunes just told me that this was the second computer (out of 5) that I had added...
So I don't know what to do...
I tried to close itunes and open it again, tryed to activate itunes match again, but nothing works...
I also restarted the computer... Still won't work...
    Any ideas ?
    Thank you !!!!!
    Yohann.

You need to transfer your iTunes Library from the old computer to the new one - then you can carry on syncing as normal. You can't move non-purchased music from an iPod to iTunes using iTunes. For purchased music, choose iTunes > File > Transfer purchases...

  • Library corruption on initial iTunes Match upload?

Has anyone else seen this behavior? I just subscribed to iTunes Match. It went through the whole parsing of the library and uploaded. But now the library is messed up - some movies were marked as music, music as movies, some song files appear to have been overwritten in the library (the Avengers movie actually replaced "Sing" by the Carpenters - it shows up listed as track 12 of 14, with a mix of entries from the movie and the original song). The original files appear to be untouched (thankfully), so I can probably rebuild the library without too much loss of data.
Is this a known "feature"? I think the convenience would be wonderful if the music didn't end up scrambled in translation...
    Thanks for any feedback!

In iTunes turn off iTunes Match and quit iTunes. Then restore the iTunes Library.itl file from your backup that is from before you first turned on iTunes Match.

  • View list of all songs in itunes match

    Hello,
Is there any way to see a list or even create a document with all the songs I have uploaded to Itunes Match, besides just seeing them displayed in Itunes?
    Thanks

Open iTunes, click on the Music icon (Library in iTunes 6) in the source list, go to File>Print>Song Listing

  • Why isn't entire iTunes library showing up with iTunes Match activated?

    Hi all,
I'm just getting started with Apple TV 3rd generation (running iTunes 11.1.2 on a 2-year old MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.5), and I'm very, very frustrated with how difficult it is to get my enitre iTunes library to show up on Apple TV. I thought it was possible to sync my library to the device, and wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how to do it before coming to the realization that this feature seems only to have been available in earlier generations of Apple TV. So last night I subscribed to iTunes Match and *finally* had access to my entire music library through Apple TV. But this afternoon when I turned on Apple TV, lo and behold it was back to displaying only my purchased music. I only briefly saw the "Turn on iTunes Match" message, and it was indeed turned on, but now I'm not even seeing that prompt. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on, and how I can get Apple TV to display my entire iTunes library EVERY time I turn it on? Thanks much!

This may or may not work. But have you tried setting your home country as the US? Another possibility - go to Settings --> General --> Parental Controls - make sure Netflix is set to show.
If neither of those works. Sorry not sure why its not coming up.

  • Can you Download all Songs from ITunes Match onto Computer without having to click every cloud

I am preparing to cancel my iTunes match service as I have moved from Australia to the UK and want the UK iTunes store but I cannot transfer over untill ITunes Match is canceled and before I do this I want to put all cloud music onto my ITunes and wondered if there was a quick way to do this. I don't want to click on every cloud icon.
    iTunes is the PC version

Go to Edit > Select All. This will select all the songs in your library. Then right-click and select "Download."

  • How to upload all songs from iTunes Match to the mac in one step

how to upload all songs from Match to the Mac in one step?

You have to subscribe to iTunes Match to do that.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/.

  • After clean install Mac,half of my iTunes library is misging from iTunes Match

I did  a clean install on my Mac ; wanted to download all my music from iCloud, but half of all the songs are missing.......
    How is that possible ?

    Hi,
Did you make a backup of your music? If so, you should restore from back up.

  • HT201323 Delete all music in iTunes Match except Purchased items

How can I delete all of my uploaded music in iTunes Match (cloud) EXCEPT for my iTunes purchased music?

    HI
Make a smart playlist based on iCloud status not purchased. Select all tracks in list (cmd + A) then delete tracks (option + delete). As tracks have already been deleted from your hard drive, you will not get message to keep or move files to trash but you will get message telling you that the tracks will be moved from the cloud and will no longer be available in the cloud.
Doing this will clear iTunes match. Do you have a back up of your music on an external drive?

  • Post Restore, how to recover all music from iTunes Match?

    Hello,
I recently restored my iPhone 4S, and the back up went smooth. I restored the phone from a back up on iTunes instead of from iCloud (since it would be faster), and now I'm stuck - for my music, it won't restore it from my iTunes back up or iTunes Match. The music is visible with the cloud icons next to all my songs and albums.
I know that iTunes Match handles the music, and thus I can't control anything from the tab on my iPhone in iTunes, but is there any way to push all the music I have with iTunes Match back to my device?
Or do I have to tell my phone to download every album?
I feel like I'm missing some setting here, or some "Download All" option but I can't find anything.
    Thanks!

So... I figured I should try to turn off iTunes Match in iTunes, and on my phone. Tried that, synced again, and I can push my music from iTunes to my phone the old fashioned way.
Phew. I'll reenable Match after this is all sorted out!
Hope this helps someone else out in the future.

  • Difference between "Show All Music" and Itunes Match

    iOS 7.0.2
I can't tell the difference.  Nothing seems to change if I have only "Show All Music" selected as opposed to selecting iTunes Match.  All I want to do is have access to songs not downloaded to my phone  in iCloud.

I've since had confirmed from iTunes Store Support that-
"The answer to you question is, Yes. The music that you did not purchase form the iTunes Store will automatically be available to your devices as long as it matches with the songs available from the store. For you to understand better, I provided some articles that will confirm my answer.
If you want the benefits of iTunes in the Cloud for music you haven’t purchased from iTunes, iTunes Match is the perfect solution. It’s built right into the iTunes app on your Mac or PC and the Music app on your iOS devices. And it lets you store your entire collection, including music you’ve imported from CDs or purchased somewhere other than iTunes. For just $24.99 a year."
On the strength of that I am willing to give iTunes Match a try, I guess.
