Library of common events

I'm new to FCPX and wondering how I would make a library of common events to be used in multiple projects?

Anything in any event is available to use in any project as many times as you wish.
The same event can be used by multiple projects simultaneously.
Simply drag the clips from that event into as many projects as you wish.
You see, each project does not use the actual clips, it simply refers to them, so multiple projects can refer to the same clip.
The Event clips themselves are never altered in any way.

    I have 15000 photos in my 1Phooto library in 58 events. I have also made 27 slide shows from some of these events. When opening iPhoto, the photoscome up slmost instantly but the side bar seems to take forever to come up.  Is there s limit to the amount of photos yu can have or to the amount if items in the side bar?

    Try this basic troubleshooting technique:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - reboot
    4 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Create a Library for common code

    I want to create a library of common PHP and JavaScript code. How do I do it? The conceptional problem I am having is how can I access this code across separate sites. Dreamweaver makes avail common code, like mysql code to access a database. I want to set up a similar the library for my code.
    Thanks for you help.

    Here is an example of one Snippet I frequently use.  A double click inserts the following code.
    <!--LATEST JQUERY CORE LIBRARY-->
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.min.js"></script>
    <!--FANCYBOX plugins-->
    <link href="http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/fancybox/2.1.4/jquery.fancybox.css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen">
    <script src="http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/fancybox/2.1.4/jquery.fancybox.pack.js"></script>
    <!--invoke FANCYBOX on page load-->
    <script>
    jQuery(document).ready(function() {
    $.fancybox(
    '<h2>Hi!</h2><p>Your custom message here...</p><p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Etiam quis mi eu elit tempor facilisis et neque</p>',
    'autoDimensions'    : false,
    'width'             : 400,
    'height'            : 'auto',
    'transitionIn'    : 'elastic',
    'transitionOut'    : 'elastic',
    'overlayOpacity'    : 0.8,
    'speedIn'        :600,
    'speedOut'    :400,
    'overlayColor'    : '#FFF'
    </script>
    Or, if you prefer, you could insert those Snippets into a server-side include file.

  • How do I perform an action on a document in a library, before my Event Receiver is fired?

    My scenario:
    Currently when a document is uploaded into a document library, it gets its metadata from the document. But then there is a need to change the title property to satisfy a naming convention which basically concatenates a combination of the information in
    other columns in the document library...right now, there is already a SP designer workflow that is doing this and updating the title field (this was done previously by someone else). Now I want to add an event receiver to the library which will change
    the "name" property of the document. The name will be changed to match the title field (I think I already know how to do this part).
    Here is my problem...if I create an Event Receiver (ItemAdded), my code will not work cause the workflow needs to fire and complete its task before my code can grab the value from the title and copy it into the name. So my question is this....is there
    a way in SP that i can maybe write custom code to address the entire scenario? If so, how do I do this? I read somewhere that I cannot or should not combine a workflow and an Event Receiver...I really appreciate it if I can be pointed in the right direction.

    I think you can use ItemAdding event to update your fields. This works better for you instead of ItemAdded event.

  • Photos in library missing from Events? I have a solution

    This is a continuation from an answered question here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15830476#15830476, but with a new twist and a solution that I found myself. Hope it helps others:
    After doing a corrupt library rebuild, I noticed some photos missing from events but still existing in the library. Read the above discussion for full background then come back if you'd like.
    I found photos that I could see in "Photo" view but could not see in "Events" view. I even chose one particular photo by filename. When I searched for it while in "events" view, it appeared as the sole result but it did not have an event name above it like it should have (check this by searching for a photo by name while in "Events" view). It was just sitting there like a sad eventless orphan. So I grabbed that photo with my mouse pointer and dragged it over to the navigator bar and dropped it on "Events". And this worked! I now had a new event with only that photo in it and the event was named the same name as the photo. Now the photo was magically back in Events. Since this problem was occurring with a lot of photos we took over the last month and they were intermingled by date with other photos taken over the last month (from other cameras or imported from email attachments) that were correctly in "Events", then I went to the photo view, grabbed a whole bunch of photos, many of which were not in an event and some that were, and dragged them over to the "Events" item in the tree and dropped them on it. It gave me a warning like "These photos cannot be in two events at the same time so they will all be moved into a new event" with an option to "Cancel" or "Create". I hit create and oila, I had a new event that graciously adopted all the sad orphan photos and also kidnapped some photos from other events too. I just went in, reorganized them back to proper places (thank goodness they were all recent and there were only 250 or so and not 1000s) and I am happy. Provided this works in the long term, it was an interesting workaround for a bug that I don't know the cause and I'm glad to share with all of you.
    By the way, I'm using Snow Leopard and iPhoto 09' with all the lasted software updates on an Intel iMac Core 1 Duo.

    By the way, I was able to confirm now (I think) that all photos in the library are assigned to events by looking at the totals in "Photos" and matching it with the sum of photos and movies when "Events" is selected. Unfortunately, I didn't check to see if this was also the case before I did my fix, but if anyone is missing photos in Events that are definitely visible in the Photos view, please check these to sets of numbers and see if you can identify the discrepancy before applying my fix. That would be good proof of the bug.

  • IPhoto 11 Places discrepancy between Library -- Places and Events or Photo

    iPhoto 11 crashed and automatically rebuilt itself. Now some photos associated with some Places no longer appear under the Library --> Places map. However, if I go to the specific event or photo, the pin placement on the map is correct. This is for some photos, not all.
    Please advise. Thx

    I would restore the backup from jsut before the crash

  • I can't see Event Library - Only All Events

    I've just started using iMovie 10.0.5 and I'm stumped by its seeming inability to import video clips where I want them. I think I have worked out that you need to import video clips (from my hard drive) to Events before you start out to create a new movie. I have done this but I can't see the individual clips, only one window which seems to contain all the clips I have imported. I see this window when I click on All Events. The various instructions I have found online tell me I need to go into the Event Library, but this doesn't show up in my iMove Browser window. One instruction says if you can't see the individual events click on Event Library. But there is no Event Library in my list of libraries. I'm getting very frustrated. iMovie used to be so easy!

    Here is a screen shot of what my browser looks like:

  • GATHER_STATS_JOB is causing library cache lock events (blocking)

    Hi,
    I am running an Oracle 10g (2.0.3) RAC configuration on a Solaris 5.10 SPARC-64 box, and a couple of days ago I started to receive blocking alert due a library cache lock even caused by the scheduled GATHER_STATS_JOB. Is there any way to identify which is the table/object that is not being able to be process by the GATHER_STATS_JOB?
    Regards,
    Alberto

    I found this on metalink:
    How to find the blocker
    a. find the p1raw value of the 'library cache pin', e.g.
    select sid, event, p1raw from v$session_wait where event = 'library cache pin';
    SID EVENT P1RAW
    150 library cache pin 288822D4
    select * from dba_kgllock where kgllkreq > 0;
    KGLLKUSE KGLLKHDL KGLLKMOD KGLLKREQ KGLL
    2CB1F978 288822D4 0 3 Pin
    b. find the locked object via x$kglob, e.g.
    select kglnaown, kglnaobj from x$kglob where kglhdadr = '288822D4';
    KGLNAOWN KGLNAOBJ

  • How to create a new iMovie library from existing events?

    I have had the misfortune of loosing my Mac with all of the data on it BUT fortunately I have kept a copy of all my iMovie events backed up so I've managed to save them.
    Now I have a new iMac and 500Gb+ in the "iMovie Events" folder. I've copied this folder into my Movies folder (in "home" dir) BUT since I didn't also back up the .imovielibrary file I need to create a new library for all these events. The problem I'm facing at the moment is that I'm not sure how to "import" these events in a way that will maintain all/most of the information. I've tried doing the File > Import Media and pointing it to the Movies folder BUT it looked like it was going to import all the files into a single Event, so I chickened out.
    Any suggestions/recommendations? Am I doomed to importing the events one at a time?
    Thanks!

    Looks like I may have found a solution.
    As mentioned above I've copied the "iMovie Events" folder to the place iMovie expects it to be at. And now I've selected: File > Update Projects and Events
    It has recognized that there were a bunch of events that it needed to "process" and has started reading them all.
    It looks like all the events are back, I've not done extensive checking yet, but so far it looks very promising.

  • IPhoto library "updated" now Events appear unmerged

    This afternoon, I was working in iPhoto when there was a nanosecond power blip at the house. I wouldn't have even noticed it except my iMac shut off. When I booted up again, iPhoto opened itself and repaired the library (if I'm remembering the terminology correctly). Problem is, now many of my Events show a blank thumbnail (unless I scroll over it) and maybe more importantly, many of my merged Events seem to have unmerged or duplicated themselves. (Can't say for sure what's going on.) I have 10 years worth of photos in my Events; it took me hours get everything organized when I migrated to Apple earlier this year. I don't relish the idea of painstakingly trying to sort through thousands of events again.
    My albums all appear OK, for what it's worth. It's just the Events that are messed up.
    Is there any way to reverse the repair or update?
    Kelly

    The following will give you a new library with the same events buy no keywords, titles or other metadata or albums, slideshows, etc.
    Start over from scratch with new library
    Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1.  Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2.  Open the library package like this.
    Click to view full size
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
    Click to view full size
    This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.

  • MSExchange Common event-id 4999

    Dario Palermo

    Hi Dario,
    Thank you for your question.
    There are some reasons which caused event id 4999, for example hid resource mailboxes, the corrupt calendar item.
    We could refer to the following steps to troubleshoot:
    If there are some resource mailboxes which are hid, we could unhidden unhide them, then we could restart IIS and check if there are event id 4999
    We could refer to the following link to check if there are any the corrupt calendar item via
    Calcheck, we could remove or repair the corrupt calendar item: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webdav_101/archive/2012/02/28/how-to-check-for-calendar-corruption.aspx
    If the event id persist, I suggest we could update Exchange 2010 to CU8 v2 by the following link, because Exchange 2010 CU8 v1 has been recalled:
     http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45225
    If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

  • Export iPhoto library and retaining events?

    Is there a way to export the photos and videos from iPhoto while retaining the events? In my case, I have over 400 events, and I could do this one event at a time to export the photos, but I'd like to avoid having to do that over 400 times. Additionally, that wouldn't export the videos; I'd have to do that separately and manually put those into the right folders.
    Since iPhoto already knows which photos belong in which event, how can I have it export everything into folders divided and titled by the events already present in iPhoto?

    This is related to my other post ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2128895 ) about sharing the photos and videos with Windows 7 Media Center through a NAS. Since there doesn't seem to be a native way to do so, I was just going to do one large export of all the photos to the NAS and then just manually update it. However, to do the initial large export, I would like to avoid having to export over 400 different events. I also want to avoid having over 9,500 pictures in one giant folder, unorganized.

  • How to use common event handler for selected movie clips?

    I have a 50-state map in a flash movie. Each state is a movie
    clip.
    Goal: when mouse moves over a state or is clicked in a state,
    the state will be highlighted in a bright color and a small box
    will pop up near the state and display some information about the
    state.
    Question: I know I can add mouse event handler for each state
    movie clip. But this is simply not good since this has to be done
    50 times and codes thus scattered different places. Ideally, I only
    want to have one script that determines where the mouse position is
    when events trigged and then do right things (highlight the state
    and display info. in a pop-up). How can this be implemented?
    Thanks!

    There are a number of ways. Which way is best depends on how
    you have things set up so far.
    E.g. If they have an enumerable naming convention:
    e.g. each clip is like state_0 , state_1 etc.
    Then you can loop through them and assign them all to the
    same mouse event handler via the loop. You would need properties
    other than the name of the clip to identify the state. E.g. each
    clip could contain its own data or the index could be a pointer to
    the state data (objects with state name and info properties) in a
    separate array.
    //state clips named
    for (var i=0;i<50;i++) {
    this["state_"+i].stateindex=i;
    this["state_"+i].onPress= statePressHandler;
    var stateData:Array = [{name:"StateName,info:"this state
    Info"}, name:"StateName,info:"this state Info"}, etc...]
    function statePressHandler() {
    trace(this);
    trace(stateData[this.stateindex].name+"="+stateData[this.stateindex].info);
    Other ways are possible too but the best approach depends on
    how you have named the clips and whether you're creating them with
    code or whether they're already on stage from authoring (my guess).
    If they're already on stage and they're called "Alaska" etc, then I
    would be inclined to put them all inside a container clip that
    contains nothing else other than states. It would avoid the need
    for an array of clip names or for checking some other specific
    property of each clip to determine if its a 'state' clip and not
    something else in a for..in loop.

  • Give Us a Library of Common Codes

    It would be really handy to have a "stash" of commonly used codes available in MUSE.
    Mainly because while you can Google and find out the html code for just about anything, many of the search results are outdated and may not include code for current browsers, such as Chrome.
    Additionally, it would save us time from searching, finding one that actually works, implementing and testing it in browsers, devices, etc.
    Common and handy codes for things like "add to favorites", "previous page", etc. would be great!
    If it were to be a feature in MUSE then we would know that the codes are correct and timely based on the world we live in "today".
    Thanx! for considering this.

    Tracking cookies codes would be nice too.
    I see that it is available for BC customers. All my clients have their own hosting, so to be able to insert and enable cookies easily within MUSE -- if their hosting supports cookies -- I guess that's what it takes??? -- would be very cool!
    Adobe, you were awesome about getting non-BC sites to be able to use the forms feature, bet you could do this too! Thanx!

  • How do I add events from my iphoto library to my current iphoto backup on my external drive?

    I have backed up 80% of my current iphoto library to my external drive and continually adding to the mac hard drive with all my new photos.  Is there an easy way of updating my backup library event by event, like an overflow?  I like to keep 2-3 months of my photos for editing and mailing but need to find a way of moving older ones to my existing backup.

    Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    Now you have two full versions of the Library.
    3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
    Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
    Some Notes:
    As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
    You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
    You can keep the Library on the external updated with new imports using iPhoto Library Manager
    However:
    You do not have a back up of your Library. Let me say that again. You have no back up.
    What you have are two libraries, one on your internal disk and one on the external, and they have some material in common.
    If the external is damaged then your library is toast. The vast bulk of your photos will be gone. You need a second disk to back up the first. Remember a back up is a copy, on another disk, of the data. At this time you have no copy.

    TD
