Line Chart in Infoview Dates out of order

Hi,
I have a report that works fine on the desktop but when it is run from within Infoview, the date range in the X axis of the line chart are no longer in order.
Any ideas how I can correct this?
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
What are the versions  (along with any fix packs if any) of the following:
1) Crystal Reports designer
2) BusinessObjects Enterprise
Also, could you try changing the Viewer Type for Crystal Reports? If it is set to Web (No downloading), try changing that to ActiveX.

  • Chart date out fo order

    Upgraded 10g to 11g. Most graphs are displaying correctly however have 1 chart that the dates are out fo order, though there is a sort on the calendar ID. I have a field called calendar ID with data such as 201101 = 2011 Jan and 201102 = 2011 Feb. If I view this in table view it shows correctly, but as a chart starts at like Jun 2001 then Aug 2011, etc. Is this a know bug or a easy fix?

    Right click the chart > select "Chart Expert" > "Data" Tab > Select the "On Change Of" field > Click "Order" button > select "in original order". Your group will be in right order now.

  • Gmail dates out of order

    I recented moved from an exchange server to Gmail utilizing IMAP. The problem is that my emails are not in date order on my iphone 5s 7.1 (problem still existed under 7.0.6), but they appear perfectly in Gmail via web, Outlook, and Apple Mail. I can't seem to figure out what order they are actually in. I have exposed the date fields in outlook like date create, modified, received, sent, etc, but even ordering on any of those doesn't explain the sort order on the iPhone.
    Thanks for any input!

    Hello Omar12345
    Have you tried removing your email account and then add it back in to Mail. Also have you tried using the Gmail app to see if it works there?

  • SVG chart x axis values out of order

    Hi
    I have an application built in apex 3.0 that is running from apex 3.1.
    It has an SVG chart with an x axis that displays the dates as
    01-JUN-2008
    01-MAY-2008
    02-JUN-2008
    02-MAY-2008
    03-JUN-2008 etc.
    what is wanted is that it displays the dates as
    01-MAY-2008
    02-MAY-2008
    01-JUN-2008
    02-JUN-2008
    03-JUN-2008 etc.
    I did not build this application so how do I start to debug this chart and get it to display the dates in sequential order.
    Sorry, I know I have probably not given you much info but hopefully you can give me some pointers.
    regards
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
    Did you find your answer?
    Try looking at this post.
    order x-axis in svg-graph by date
    you will need to create a subqueary
    something like
    SELECT DATE, OTHER1
    FROM (SELECT DATE, sum(OTHER) as OTHER1
    FROM MY_TABLE
    group by DATE)
    order by DATE
    This worked for me.

  • Problem creating line chart with character data

    CR Developer v. 11.5.0.313
    I want to create a line chart with data from a SQL2K table to show how much server time each application uses per day. All data is defined a character.
    HWA,4/24/2007,01:44.6HWA,4/25/2007,12.28HWB,4/24/2007,4.6HWC,4/24/2007,55.55HWC,4/25/2007,01:22.3HWE,4/24/2007,01:16.1HWE,4/25/2007,0.59
    I want one horizontal line per application where the X-axis represents the date and the Y-axis represents the server time. I have tried all column combinations for "On Change Of" and "Show Value(s)". What confuses me is why are Count and Discount the only Summary Options for the "Show Value(s)" data?
    Thank you,

    I created a group based on date, day, then created the chart and put it in the group footer, on change of server, show sum of time, you will get a seperate chart for each day.  I am not sure if this will help, or will just do.  Since you have CR XI, you may want to look at the gauge chart also....

  • Creating a multi series line chart with different data providers

    I have 3 data providers of the same structure i.e ArrayCollection of DataElement and want to use them to create a multiseries line chart. I do not have just 1 dataProvider that can be used but 3 different data providers of the same structure that i want to use each for different series.

    Please help!

    Sorry for the confusion. Actually I must be doing some thing wrong like using ColumnChart to display a line chart or something like that.
    I have now realized that a multi series line chart can be built by having a different data provider for each of the LineSeries object.
    So the code below would create a multi series line graph :
    [Bindable] private var orangeSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 101000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },

                            { sales: 425000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
                [Bindable] private var appleSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 991000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },

  • Chart date out of order

    Post Author: [email protected]
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
    I have a chart that is grouped on the date by month.  The data in the main crosstab report is in the correct order but the dates are grouped incorrectly in the graph.  The graph is listing in this order:
    1/2007, 10/2007,11/2007, 2/2007,3/2007....
    It's picking up the first number as the sort order instead of the date.  I've checked by date format and everything is correct in my report.  What can I change to get the chart date order correct?

    Right click the chart > select "Chart Expert" > "Data" Tab > Select the "On Change Of" field > Click "Order" button > select "in original order". Your group will be in right order now.

  • Tree Issue--Data out of order?

    All,
    I suspect this is more of a generic SQL question, but, anyhow, I'm trying to create a tree report of the items in our bills of materials. When I run the page, the tree is empty (not even a root). Trying to figure out what the problem is, I've copied the SQL into Toad and run it; the results seem to be scrambled, which I suspect is why the tree is failing. Here's the query:
    select case when connect_by_isleaf = 1 then 0
                when level = 1             then 1
                else                           -1
           end as status,
           level,
           comp_item_number as title,
           null as icon,
           comp_inventory_item_id as value,
           null as tooltip,
           null as link
    from apex.bom_tree_v
    where organization_id = 126
    start with comp_item_number = 'C70-1039'
    connect by prior comp_inventory_item_id = parent_item_id
    order siblings by comp_item_numberThe query returns 64 rows for my test item, which is correct, but the top-level item (level = 1) is returned as the 10th row (consistently), rather than the first. All of the documentation I've been able to find indicates that the rows should be returned in hierarchical order.
    Anyone have any idea what I'm missing?
    -David

    Good afternoon David,
    Trees in APEX are not even closely populated the same as in Forms. What I did was this:
    <li>Query the top of your tree...
    <li>Do a UNION ALL SELECT for the next level of your tree
    <li> and repeat the UNION ALL SELECT for each indented level of your tree.
    Mine looks something like this:
    select 'A' id,
            null as pid,
            'Table Of Contents' name,
            NULL link,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:CONTRACT,A' A1,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:EXPAND,A' A2
       from dual
      union all
    select ltrim(rtrim(to_char(toc_seq_id))) id,
            'A' pid,
            toc_description name,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:::RP:TOCP:' || toc_seq_id link,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:CONTRACT,' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) ||'::RP:TOCP:' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) A1,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:EXPAND,' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) ||'::RP:TOCP:' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) A2
       from my_toc
      where state_id = :P1_STATE
        and toc_level = 1
        and (toc_seq_id < 9
          or  (toc_seq_id < 10 and :P1_User_Type = 2)
          or  (toc_seq_id < 10 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER = 'Y')
          or  (toc_seq_id < 15 and :P1_User_Type > 2 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER != 'Y'))
    union all
    select ltrim(rtrim(toc_seq_id)) id,
            ltrim(rtrim(toc_parent)) pid,
            toc_description name,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:' || ltrim(rtrim(to_char((toc_parent+2)))) || ':&APP_SESSION.:::RP:P1_ENTRY_ID:' || toc_entry_id link,
            null a1,
            null a2
       from my_toc
      where state_id = :P1_STATE
        and toc_level = 2
        and (toc_parent < 9
          or (toc_parent = 9 and :P1_User_Type = 2)
          or  (toc_seq_id < 10 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER = 'Y')
          or  (toc_seq_id < 15 and :P1_User_Type > 2 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER != 'Y'))
    order by 3,1The code that looks like this:
    'f?p=&APP_ID.:' || ltrim(rtrim(to_char((toc_parent+2)))) || ':&APP_SESSION.:::RP:P1_ENTRY_ID:' || toc_entry_id link,is building a link to a page based on the value of the entry (:P1_ENTRY_ID) so the user can click on an entry and jump to that item.
    My tree looks like this: (I can't paste an image, so I'll wing it with text - notice my tree started out with
    entry zero [0] because I had to add it after the tree was built)
    - Table of Contents
      + 0. First branch of my tree
      + 1. Second branch of my tree
      -  2. Third branch - expanded
         +  Entry 1 for third level
         +  Entry 2 for third level
      + 3. Fourth branch of my tree
      + 4. Fifth branch of my treeIt took me awhile to figure all of this out, but once I did, it began to make sense.
    The whole idea is that each SELECT will select the next indented level in the tree. Then in the end, use ORDER BY 3,1 to order your tree properly by the parent and then the child within the parent.
    I hope this makes sense and that it helps.
    Good luck,
    Don.

  • Line chart with more than 15 data series - color problem

    Hi all,
    I've built a line chart with 32 data series (user can control, which of them are displayed at a time). For series 16 to 32 I did manipulate the URL in the browser directly, because Application Express does only display parametrs for up to 15 series. This works fine so far except of displaying the colors. For each sieries I defined a different color. 29 of my 32 series are displayed in the desired color. But series 29, 31 and 32 are displayed in a default-color (#0099CC). It seems that this is a SVG-problem. In the SVG-source I find the wrong color. When I export my application, I see the right color.
    Thanks for help,
    Chris

    Hello,
    Which version of APEX are you using?
    Go to your Flash Chart attributes - get into your series (click the icon) in the section of Series Query you'll find the maximum rows.

  • Can Numbers put the dates (in a column) in order if I enter out of order

    I am a procrastinator and I have lots of receipts to enter.  If I enter with the dates out of order is there a way numbers can put in order for me.
    Thank you

    Robin,
    When you hover your mouse over the column Label area of an active Table, a disclosure triangle appears. Clicking the triangle gives you a menu of column actions, including Sorting the column, either ascending or descending.
    Sorting will put your dates in order. The prerequisite is that the dates you enter must be recognized as Date/Time values, not as Text. If you input your dates in a standard way for you region/language, they will normally be properly recognized. One way to test for this is to Select the Dates column and change the date format in the Cell Inspector. If you can freely change the format, for example from "1/1/15" to "January 1, 2015", the sort will be successful.

  • Line Chart - getting data from two table to behave as 1 data series

    I'm using the 'Personal Budget' template, and have two tables titled 'Annual Budget by Month: 2009' and 'Annual Budget by Month: 2010'. These tables show, as their last row, my total savings. I want to set up a line chart to display the (downward) trajectory of my savings in one continuous line.
    However, if I create a line chart, the two data sets from the two tables are displayed as two lines, one below the other. If I convert it to a column chart, and then switch to columns instead of rows as the Plotting Orientation (data series button in the upper left of the table), the columns do display correctly. Can anyone tell me how I can get the line version to work?

    spiff,
    I think the solution to your problem is to create a summary table that gathers the data from all your month tables, then plot the summary. Remember to put the category names into a Header row or column so they will automatically show up on the chart axes.

  • Flash 2D Line chart

    I have a chart region - Flash 2D Line chart with two series based on different tables, both with dates along the X axis
    and a figure that represents hours up the Y axis. The idea is for two lines to be displayed on the same graph so they can be
    easily compared.
    series 1
    select null link, END_DATE label, PROJECTED_HOURS Projected_hours
    from "E_LOGBOOK"."TEST_PROJECTED"
    30/07/2009 700
    09/08/2009 800
    27/08/2009 9000
    series 2
    select null link, LIFING_DATE label, ACTUAL_HOURS Current_Hours
    from "E_LOGBOOK"."TEST_ACTUAL"
    30/07/2009 800
    09/08/2009 1000
    27/08/2009 12000
    When I run the chart with the data above it displays as I would expect, the dates label in chronological order along the bottom with the Correct value plotted for each series.
    However if I insert a row into the LIFING_DATE table (second series) so it contains additional data for the 14/08/2009
    30/07/2009 800
    09/08/2009 1000
    14/08/2009 1201
    27/08/2009 12000
    And then re run the chart this last date and value displays to the right of the existing dates so we have 30/07/2009 09/08/2009 27/08/2009 then 14/08/2009 along the X axis.
    I would have expected the new data to fit in the existing range so that 30/07/2009 09/08/2009 14/08/2009 27/08/2009 would display along the bottom.
    I am an oracle forms programmer new to APEX (and html, javascript,XML etc) trying to prepare a demo to my manager of what we can do with apex so any help appreciated.
    If possible is there a solution without using Third party apps or bi publisher.
    Thanks Pete

    Hi Andy,
    Thanks for your quick response. If I'm correct in understanding what your saying is that with 2D Line charts that have two series in order for them to display togethor then the label must appear in both series.
    I've had a bash using your sql for the 1st series and modifying the second series.
    Series 1
    SELECT NULL LINK,
    X.THE_DATE LABEL,
    Y.PROJECTED_HOURS VALUE
    FROM
    (SELECT END_DATE THE_DATE FROM TEST_PROJECTED
    UNION
    SELECT LIFING_DATE THE_DATE FROM TEST_ACTUAL
    ) X
    LEFT OUTER JOIN TEST_PROJECTED Y ON X.THE_DATE = Y.END_DATE
    ORDER BY X.THE_DATE
    07/30/2009 700
    08/09/2009 800
    08/14/2009
    08/27/2009 9000
    Series 2
    SELECT NULL LINK,
    X.THE_DATE LABEL,
    Y.ACTUAL_HOURS VALUE
    FROM
    (SELECT END_DATE THE_DATE FROM TEST_PROJECTED
    UNION
    SELECT LIFING_DATE THE_DATE FROM TEST_ACTUAL
    ) X
    LEFT OUTER JOIN TEST_ACTUAL Y ON X.THE_DATE = Y.LIFING_DATE
    ORDER BY X.THE_DATE
    07/30/2009 800
    08/09/2009 1000
    08/14/2009 1201
    08/27/2009 12000
    This is a great improvement the series 2 now displays fine and all the points for series 1 are plotted correctly but it seems like the null value prevents the joining of the coordinates in this series. All the points 700,800 and 9000 are displayed correctly but the graph line only joins 700 and 800.
    Any further ideas? Thanks Pete

  • Simple Line Chart - Values over time

    A simple line chart displaying a set of values over time would seem to be a very easy report to design. I'll be darned if I can see how to design it. Can anyone shed some light?
    I have provided links to a report and a spreadsheet which is the report datasource. My actual report will use SQL Server as its datasource. I am providing ths excel based example for the sake of protability.You will need to set the datasource location after saving the files to your hard drive.
    I can get the lines to draw properly, what I cannot figure out is how to specify the datetime values for the x axis. The column I would like to use on the x-axis is called DerivedLoggingTime.
    I'd also like to get control of the logarithmic algorithm used to formulate the y-axis values. I am not always happy with the values that the log algorithm comes up with.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    [Link to report|http://www.usol.com/~joe/linechart.rpt]
    [Link to spreadsheet|http://www.usol.com/~joe/AnalysisResults.xls]
    Another discovery while working on this report - our database will be SQL 2008 and  we are making use of the datetime2 datatype. CR appears to be treating this datatype as text. So when working with the SQL based datasource, I had to cast datetime2 columns as datetime in order for CR to see the columns as datetime instead of text. This is fine in this instance because the granularity of the datetime values for this particular report does not require datetime2, but that will not always be the case. CR will need to recognize the new datatype.

    Hi Joe,
    The Date Axis Line Chart of the Numeric Axis Type Chart, can be used to display data on a regular interval of days, Months and Years. The information displayed can unfortunately not be more granular that days.
    This type of chart is generally used when the data is recorded on irregular intervals in the database, and to make sense of the information stored it needs to be displayed at regular intervals.
    Since the data stored in your data source seems to be stored every 4 minutes, it will not be necessary to use this type of chart. I will suggest to use the regular line chart instead.
    To create a line chart using your date time field and value:
    1. Select "Chart" under the menu "Insert"
    2. Insert the chart on your report in the desired section.
        ( Group Header # 3 in your case. )
    3. In the "Chart Expert" window, under the tab "Type",
        change the chart type to a line chart by selecting "Line" in
        the "Chart Type" list.
    4. Under the tab "Data", add the database field that contains the Date Time information under the "On change of" list.
    (In your case, add the "DerivedLoggingTime" database field)
    5. To display the data for each minute, select the database fields you just added under the "On Change of" list, and
    click on the button "Order". In the "Chart Sort Order" window,
    select "For each minutes" in the "Section will be printed" drop down list, then click "OK"
    6. Add the field you want to display the value in the "Show Value List", then click "OK"
    Now it will display a line chart as desired, but since there is a lots of data point on your chart, the x axis date time labels will overlap each other. To avoid  this situation, I will suggest to skip labels.
    To format a chart to skip labels:
    1. In the "Preview" tab of the report, select one of the x axis label, and right click on it. In the contextual menu, select "Group (X) Axis Options..."
    2. In the "Group (X) Axis Settings" window, under the tab "Layout", check the option "Skip Group Labels" and set the value to 15 for example.
    Now, it will display the date time label at every 15 data point.
    As for your question on how get control of the logarithmic algorithm used to formulate the y-axis values, we unfortunately do not have much control over it other than:
    - Entering static values, or
    - Checking or Unchecking the option "Use Logarithmic scales"
    The above options are available on the y axis. To change those options:
    1. In the "Preview" tab of the report, select one of the y axis label, and right click on it. In the contextual menu, select "Group (Y) Axis Options..."
    2. In the "Group (Y) Axis Settings" window, under the tab "Scales", you will see the following options:
    - Minimum Values
    - Maximum Values
    - Use Logarithmic scales
    I will suggest to check the option "Use Logarithmic scales"
    Finally, as for the issue you discovered where SQL Server 2008 data type DateTime2 is converted to a string in Crystal Reports 2008, it is important to note that SQL Server 2008 hasn't been released yet, therefore it has not been tested in Crystal Reports 2008. Once SQL Server 2008 is released, I will suggest to test it again using the ODBC driver provided with this new version.
    At this point I am assuming that this is happening because it is a new data type and an unknown data type get converted to string.

  • Line Chart Problem, multiple point in X axis

    I need to create a line chart , with many data points between two points in the X-Axis.
    For example,
    for month january my reading is 4,3,5,2,8
    for month feb my reading is 1,5,3,5,2
    I need only two points in X axis, which are january and feb and all the reading should come in gaph.
    I am attaching a picture of the graph i required. Can any one help me how should i fill the arraycollection or XML in order to get the graph.

    Here is a script which will illustrate how to conditionally display the X-axis label on a line chart:
    DROP TABLE tmp_test_data;
    CREATE TABLE tmp_test_data
    (date_stamp DATE,
      value      NUMBER);
    BEGIN
      dbms_random.seed(1234535678);
      FOR i IN 1 .. 233 LOOP
        -- get a random integer between 1 and 100
        INSERT INTO tmp_test_data
         (date_stamp, value)
        VALUES (TRUNC(SYSDATE)-i, dbms_random.VALUE(1,100));
      END LOOP;
    END;
    SELECT NULL link, CASE WHEN MOD(day,7) = 0 THEN day ELSE NULL END label, value
      FROM (SELECT date_stamp, value, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY date_stamp) day
             FROM tmp_test_data a
             WHERE date_stamp >= TRUNC(SYSDATE)-90
             ORDER BY date_stamp) b
    ;There may be a better way to do this. I know this will work.

    Hello there. So I hope I can explain this sufficiently:
    OUT OF THE WAY: 11g 4.1.1
    I'm going to simplify my data so that it is clear what I'm looking to do.
    I want to have a line chart grouped by date. Let's say monthly...this is easy to do if you are dealing with one specific date and some value you can build the series against with case statements. I've done that a million times.
    The columns of data I'm dealing with are as follows:
    CREATE_DT(create date)
    RETIRE_DT(retire date)
    MACHINE_TYPE(type of machine)
    So lets say I want to see a line chart where each line(data point) is a MACHINE_TYPE and each bin is a month. That month should be any machine with a CREATE_DT below then end of the month and a RETIRE_DT which is either Greater then the end of the month or is NULL(ala hasn't been retired yet).
    In the query for a chart which is
    SELECT LINK,LABEL,CASE()"",CASE()"",CASE()"" from TABLE GROUP BY ROLLUP(VALUE)I guess I'm not seeing how to be able to put these values together so that it walks month by month and figures out the values and puts them in the correct "bin" of time along the X axis of the chart.
    I hope I'm being semi clear as it is hard to explain this scenario. Nope. Clear as mud.
    If time is plotted against the X axis, what measure is plotted on the Y?

    on another note I built this table from the data:

    end_date DATE:= to_Date('08-JAN-2013','DD-MON-YYYY');
    new_start_date DATE;
    BEGIN
    new_start_date:=trunc(start_date,'MONTH');
    var1 := q'!SELECT !';
    while(new_start_date<end_date)
    LOOP
    var1 := var1 || q'! count(case when create_dt<'!'||to_char(new_start_date,'DD-MON-YY')||q'!' and (retire_dt IS NULL or retire_dt>'!'||to_char(new_start_date,'DD-MON-YY')||q'!') then 1 end) "!' ||to_char(new_start_date,'DD-MON-YY')||q'!",!';
    new_start_date:= add_months(new_start_date,1);
    END LOOP;
    var1 := var1 || q'! CMS_NODE_OS.OS_TYPE||' '||node_env as envos from CMS.CMS_NODE LEFT join CMS.CMS_NODE_OS on CMS.CMS_NODE.NODE_NAME=CMS.CMS_NODE_OS.NODE_NAME where retire_dt is NULL group by rollup(CMS_NODE_OS.OS_TYPE||' '||node_env)!';
    RETURN var1;
    END;
    Instead of inadequate attempts to explain this here with fragments of code that we can't do anything with because we don't possess the objects and data they're based on, show us something. Create the objects and some sample data in a workspace on apex.oracle.com and post guest developer credentials. Sketch the required chart or mock it up in a spreadsheet and upload it as an image or PDF so we can see what you're aiming for.
