Link from Office Document to specific point in a PDF?

I am having difficulty creating a link from an MS Office document (ie Word) to a specific paragraph or page within a PDF.
I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro.
Can anybody help me?

Hi,
Just a suggestion -
Convert the MS Word file to PDF.
Then, use Acrobat's Link Tool.
You can link to a specific page.
If you first insert a "Destination" at some location in a PDF's page you can use the Link tool to go from a PDF to this other PDF and on to the "Destination".
Just two of the options provided by Acrobat's Link tool.
Be well...

    Hi,
    Have you tried the hyperlinks in other Office programs like Outlook and PowerPoint? Do they work well?
    You may need to run the Fix it in this kb below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049/en-us
    You can also try the steps in the section "Let me fix it myself". Although this kb is written for Outlook, it may help in your scenario as well.
    I hope this is useful.

  • Extract Created-Property from Office Documents

    Hello,
    i want to show the created-property of Office Documents in the search result list.
    KM only extracts Title, modified, modifiedby.
    So i followed the document "How to extract DC metadata from office documents for indexing and searching.pdf". But here only the following metadata are extracted:
    title, personalname, description, subject, keyword.
    How can i extract "created"?
    thanks in advance!
    Kind regards
    Sven

    Hi Sven,
    I'm confused. The Properties "title","modified" and "modified" by you see in the KM-Explorer are normally the KM-properties (who uploaded the file and when), not internal MSOffice information.
    To extend the list of properties displayed,
    go to SyAdm->SysConf->KM->CM->UI->Settings->LayoutSet look for your LayoutSet (probably its AdminExplorer). Select the CollectionListRenderer and edit the String in "Displayed Properties:". Add ",created" at the end for example.
    Is this what you need?
    When it comes to read MSOffice metadata from the binary, I have no idea, sorry.

  • Can you link from Word to a specific page in PDF without a webserver?

    I am trying to add a link within Word that opens a specific PDF file and goes to a particular page within the PDF.  Is there a way to do this without a webserver?

    I have a similar problem I would like to solve. I am also running Word 2003, Windows XP and Acrobat Professional 7.0.
    I can create a hyperlink in a word document to open a separate PDF file.
    I can then use PDF Maker to convert the word document to PDF.
    No problem.
    When I click on the new link in the PDF document it opens the separate file in the same window and the original PDF file is closed.
    I do not want the original file to close.
    When I set up a new link from within Acrobat then I get the option to "Open in new window". This link works the way that I want.
    As there are multiple hyperlinks in the word document, I will need to recreate new links everytime I modify the Word document. This is very time consuming
    Question - how do I get the automatically created link to open in a new window?
    Thanks in advance

  • Link from Account record to specific report

    Hi,
    I have created a single account overview report. Now I want to link from specific account records to that report (embedded analytics).
    I have set up the web link but need to change either the link or the report so that it is generated only for the specific account record from where I have clicked the link.
    Ideas are highly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Søren

    Søren,
    I have a document that details how to link a report to a webapplet so for each account record you get a report based upon that account. I'm happy to send it to you, but do not want to be spammed, so email me at alex.neill@ (use Homepage details on my profile)

  • Error message when clicking on links from thunderbird: Firefox.exe – Entry Point Not found

    When I click on any link in a Thunderbird email message I get the error message:
    Firefox.exe – Entry Point Not found
    The procedure entry point ?DllBlocklist_Initialize@@YAXXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library T:\PQligP sFuvy (X86)\pJPpSox HneiCFv\GwCMqTQ.Oqt.
    I tried uninstalling Firefox 27 completely and reinstalling it, and the error is still there. When I uninstall V27 and install the older V26 the error disappears. Id there an issue with V27 trying to work with links from Thunderbird?
    I am on a laptop running Windows 8.1 with all current downloads.

    Thanks for the reply - as best as I can tell it seems to be some kind of incompatibility between Thunderbird V24.3.0 and Firefox V27. If I install Firefox V26 then everything works as it should. I haven't tried installing a previous version of Thunderbird to see if that makes a difference.

  • Named Anchor linking from another document

    I made a Named Anchor and linked from some text in another document.  Great.  Worked just fine.  The only thing is it doesn't display the named anchor at the top of the page.
    In other words the footer is at the bottom of the page and the named anchor in the middle of the page...  not at the top.  Like a #top would be.
    Anyway to get it to the top of the page?  Do I just need more content under it?
    Much appreciated!

    Thanks for the help.  I had no luck trying it out.
    If possible, at:  artdesignsneed.com/joeldoctor
    Under menu choice "Treatment" then choose "TFP"....  the first sentence has  ..."Borderline PD developed..."
    I wanted to link Borderline PD to:
    Menu choice: Disorders...  choose Personality...  go down to "Cluster B" and there's Borderline PD.
    The link worked but the named anchor "Borderline PD" is in the middle of the page.
    Cheers if you can help.
    If not, I'm going in the right direction.
    Much appreciated.

  • Printing Word documents to PDF from Office Web Apps Server 2013 yields inaccessible PDF files

    I have Office Web Apps Server 2013 SP1 with March 2015 CU applied. The version shows up as "15.0.4569.1506" using Todd Klindt's
    method. When anonymous users view the Word documents online through the Office Web Apps, they have an option to print them to PDF. The PDF file that gets generated as a result isn't accessible
    (i.e. it isn't WCAG-compliant). using Adobe Acrobat Pro to check it I can see that it is missing tags, for example. The source Word document was made fully accessible from the point of view of Microsoft Office accessibility tools.
    When viewing the same document in Word Online in Office 365, I get an extra option  "Download as PDF". The PDF document produced is accessible. If I save a Word 2013 document as a PDF from within the Word editor, it also generates accessible
    PDF.
    I was wondering if the reason for the accessibility problem that I have misconfigured my on-premises Office Web Apps,  or perhaps the accessibility compliance isn't built in yet. If the latter is true, I was wondering if someone could indicate whether
    or not this is on the list of upcoming CUs.
    thanks in advance.

    Just check my WAC install, no this is likely an Office online only feature, at least at this point in time.

  • Error when checkin a major version from office document

    Hi,
    We havea document library set up to automatically start a workflow when a major version is published. From sharepoint this is working fine. However if we checkin from any MS Office application we are getting the error below and the workflow is not started.

    Hi,
    I tried to reproduce the issue like this:
    1. Create a new Document Library and add an Approval workflow for it using the OOTB workflow template “Approval – SharePoint 2010" as the documentation below suggests:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/sharepoint-server-help/use-a-workflow-to-manage-content-approval-for-a-library-HA010172010.aspx
    2. Then upload a Word document to this library, check out, edit in the client Office 2010 application;
    3. After editing, check in as a major version and close the document;
    4. Back to the Document Library, refresh the page, the workflow status column shows “In Progress”;
    I suggest you do a test with the steps above in another machine to see whether the issue still exists.
    Feel free to reply if there are any progress.
    Thanks

  • Links from powerpoint document

    I created a document in powerpoint with links to different pages within in the same document.
    When I then convert this to a pdf file the links work fine when the document is being viewed in full screen mode, but if the document isn't being viewed in full screen mode, the links take you to the page AFTER the one they should do.
    Is there a way to fix this?

    Do you know what PDF viewer is being used when the links don't work?

  • Link from Document Library to UNC Path

    Can anyone tell me if it is possible to create a link from a document library to a UNC path?
    I need to establish links to resources in an existing document repository, but Sharepoint presents the following message when attempting to add the link "Enter a valid document name and URL. Valid URLs must begin with 'http:' or 'https:'"
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

    Following are the steps to achieve this.
    1) Create a site content type of type "link to a document" with "Document" as a parent content type.
    2) Add the same to the document library.
    3) Go in the layouts folder open newlink.aspx in Visual Studio IDE
    4) add the following function to the script tag
    Code Snippetfunction HasValidUrlPrefix_Override(url)
                var urlLower=url.toLowerCase();
                if (-1==urlLower.search("^http://") &&
                -1==urlLower.search("^https://") && -1==urlLower.search("^file://"))
                return false;
                return true;
     5) Replace "HasValidUrlPrefix" to "HasValidUrlPrefix_Override" in the newlink.aspx
    6) IISReset and when adding a link to a file share. It shoudl be done in the following format "file://\\{ComputerName}\\}FileName}" it should work
    7) Change the wss resource file present in app_globalresources to show the following message "Enter a valid document name and URL.  Valid URLs must begin with 'http:' or 'https:' or 'file://'"
    Hope this should help.

  • Acrobat - Convert Office documents to PDF so that it is crawled/indexed by SharePoint search

    Hi there,
    This is a hybrid question between Acrobat and SharePoint and I'll post on both forums....
    Background:
    In a fairly complex application we have a publishing server that utilizes Acrobat to convert Office documents to PDF using the Convert to PDF functionality.
    We then publish that PDF to a library in SharePoint.  We would like to have those published PDFs searchable by SharePoint search.  Unfortunately there is something about these PDFs where SharePoint cannot crawl the content.
    Note:  I do realize that PDFs are not indexable by SharePoint out of the box and I have installed and configured the iFilter utility.  I have been able to index and search for other PDFs, so I know the mechanism works.  It just seems to be these
    particular PDFs.
    I have also manually "Saved as PDF" directly from Word/Excel and those PDFs are crawled by SharePoint....it just seems to be when Acrobat does its conversion.  I'm sure it's just a simple configuration somewhere... I just don't know what I'm
    looking for.
    Another note:  When I open the published PDFs, I am able to use Acrobat's search to find the text.... and the text is selectable; so it's not as if the conversion changed it to an image.
    So....would anyone happen to have encountered this issue?  Or does anyone know what makes a PDF indexable by SharePoint search?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the PDFs which are converted from Office documents by Acrobat cannot be crawled in your SharePoint 2010.
    For your issue, please make sure these PDFs version is 1.5(Acrobat 6.x) or above.
    You can take steps as below for verifying:
    Open your PDF using Adobe Reader.
    Go to File -> Properties.
    Check the PDF Version under Advanced section.
