Link of PDF using bookmark, page

Hi all,
I would like to create links of PDF using bookmark, page, as below.
http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/acrobat/PDFOpenParameters.pdf#page=3
I created the link (HTMLResources/doc.pdf#page=3), but it opens 1st page of PDF.
Is it possible for using something like #page=3 or #nameddest=Chapter6?

Hi Recardo,
Thanks for response.
Earlier we faced issue of 'NPE', while adding markups and it was show stopper for that we had to give this fix and now few markups are missing.
With the reference to the SR, SR 3-10406750311 : During creating Annotation dimensions getting Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullP we were asked to implement Listeners.
Please let us know if we can have any further fix to our current code.
Current SR:
SR 3-10549887951 : Annotation are printing randomly on 2nd page of PDF using Autovue 20.2.3 version
We have uploaded Markups and log files that have requested by Michel.
Thanks
Siva

  • Linking a PDF or website page

We are trying to link a PDF document as a resource in our
project. Where can we store the PDF document to be pulled into the
course. We will most likely be putting our course on our intranet.
Also, I have inserted several of our intranet links in my
project. I can always click to the link during a preview. However,
when I e-mail the project to my peers for reviewing the links do
not work. It appears that they are previewing through the web, but
    we are not sure.
Sorry for the confusion, but we are trainers, and not web
    developers

    Fluffy11,
Are you related to the Fluffy in Harry Potter? :) Never mind.
I am a trainer as well and that is why I like Captivate.
Put your PDF document in the same folder as the .swf file of
your published project on the server. You will also want to set the
click box you are using for the link to pause while the document is
    open.
You have to opent he click box properties and click the down
arrow next to the field that has the document name. You will see at
the bottom of a menu the words continue playing project and it will
have a check mark. Take off the check mark. I also set it to New
Window so the document opens in a new window and does not replace
your project. That way, when the learner closes the document, the
project is there for them to continue.
You will also want to have some type of Next or Continue
button for the slide and let the learner proceed when they are
ready. I am not sure about the link issue. Where does your project
launch from and how are they viewing it?
If you want to discuss this, e-mail me at
[email protected] and I can go over it on the phone.

  • Can't download or open PDFs via links on web pages? Clicking links to PDFs in web pages only results in blank "new" tabs opening in Firefox...WHY?

Links to PDFs on webpages only opens a "new" tab which is blank. I cannot download or open PDFs. This started a couple of weeks ago.

  • Extract pdfs using bookmark names

Is there a way to extract a multi-page PDF file into individual PDF files and use the bookmark names as the file names?
Currently the only way i see it is by page number. Then you have to go and rename all your new files.

Thank you for the reply. I MAY have to go that route if there is not a free way of doing it. I am doing this investigation for my boss and of course they want a free way out to save some $. We are already going to have to purchase another program to do another conversion after this initial PDF extraction.

  • Mailto link in PDF uses wrong App on Windows 2008R2

    Hello,
I have Adobe Reader X installed on Windows 2008R2 Terminal Server. Our Standard Mail App is Lotus Notes. This is configured as system wide mail app and IExplorer uses it if I click on a mailto-Link.
If I click on a mailto-Link in Adobe Reader our old Mail App is started. But this app is surely not configured as app for mailto in the whole system.
How can I change the behaviour of Adobe Reader and force it to use systems default Mail App?
    Regards, Torsten

It has to be MAPI enabled. I googled "Lotus Notes mapi enabled" and this was the first result:

  • How to insert a specific picture to an existing pdf using Insert Pages

I have created a plugin button which I want to call the "Insert page from another file" behaviour method when pressed. Passing in a specific image file which is stored on my local machine.
So the user pressed this button and they are immediately confronted with the following dialog.
My problem is trying to get this file from c:\Sunset.jpg and pass it into the Insert Pages Dialog.
Could anybody explain how I would go about doing this.
    Thanks

Thanks @Ironsenth At least I know not to go down this route.
I am not wanting to add a Watermark, but was confused as to exactly what I have to send to this method as arguments. I asked very similar questions on other discussions but kept getting given solutions which were too broad when all I wanted was to know a few tiny details.

  • Can't open same pdf to different page...

I am creating a pdf document that contains hyperlinks to open other pdf files to specific pages by adding #page=pagenumber to the end of the url.  The problem arises when I've opened a pdf with one link, then click a link to the same pdf, but with a different page number specified.  Because that pdf is already open, it will not re-open and go to the second page.  It just sits there on the first page opened in that pdf and does nothing.
I have found ond kludgey work around - adding additional forward slashes in one of the the urls will fool the system into thinking the urls are different and the same pdf can be opened to different pages one after the other, no problem.  I'm hoping someone has a more elegent solution.  Thanks for any advice you can give.

I tried named destinations as you suggested, but didn't work.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.  I may have found a partial fix.  I'm creating my pdf in InDesign CS5 and, on a hunch, I tried setting two button actions: Go To Next View before Go To Url.  For some reason, when I export the document to a pdf, the links will now work as I wanted.  I'm not sure why this works since, from what I read, Go To Next View should only do something if you've gone to a previous view, giving it somewhere to return to.  I'll take it, though.
To answer your first question, the reason I want to link one pdf to multiple pages in a second pdf is that we have many large pdfs containing our company's procedures - yes, they're so large that putting them all in one file is not practical.  So, when I need to refer readers to something in another pdf, I want to have them click a link or button and the second pdf will open in a new window to the page I specified.  One link on one page might take them to the Glossary clear at the back of the other pdf, and another link might take them to the Introduction at the start of the pdf.  I'm amazed from my searching that there isn't more about this issue online.  I have found a few people who experienced the same thing, but none of them have ever solved it.  It's not just limited to buttons in pdfs, either - creating links in an HTML document has the same problem of not being able to open the same document to two different pages successively using two links.

  • Dead links in PDF -- any further updates?

I started an lovely ebook in Pages and tested it to see how it would look in PDF, but to my dismay I found that the hyperlinks were no longer live. After searching these forums, I see this topic was discussed last September, and that Apple simply didn't put the capability of making live links in PDF exports into Pages.
Have there been an further updates on this issue? I would really hate to have to resort to using Acrobat. I've used it before and really, I'd much rather use something neat and clean such as Pages.
The iLife suite has this same problem across the board. Lovely to look at, makes beautiful documents, but severely handicapped in what you can do with it. I wish the documentation had said something in the "how to export to PDF" about this omission before I went to all that work.

You can indeed export a PDF file with hyperlinks and retain those active links in the PDF document.
I'm not sure how this does or even can answer your question, and all of your subsequent updates aren't adding much understanding or clarity to the mix. Instead of reporting repeated failures, could you try listing out:
    a. what exactly you are trying to do, and
    b. how exactly you are trying to do that, and
    c. what you expect to see happen when you do it that way, and finally
    d. what you see instead, including the text of any error messages.

  • Question about linking to pdf and doc documents

When I link to pdf or doc pages in my web page they always down load to the down load folder and then I have to go find them and then double click on them before they open. Is there anyway to get these type documents to open automatically when they are selected in my web page?
    thanks

Word documents should always download and.  There is no Mac option to just "Open" those files.  With regards to the PDF format that is a little different.
If you have a Mac with a Core Solo or if you are running Safari in 32-bit mode or Camino then then Acrobat should be set to open the files in a browser.  In the preferences for Acrobat make sure Fast Web View is selected and make sure you have Acrobat set to open up the PDFs.
If you are have a Core 2 Duo/Core ix Mac then you are by default in 64-bit mode with Safari.  If this is the case unfortunately Adobe has not released a patch to make the PDF reader plugin work in 64-bit mode.  Adobe's "fix" is to run Safari in 32-bit mode which isn't a fix and Acrobat is long overdue for an update.  But that aside, Preview should open up the PDF documents.  If that is not opening up the PDF in the browser I would have to look into it a little more.  Probably a corrupted plugin but I would even know where to replace it off the top of my head.

  • Using add-ins in Word and Excel, I want to create pdfs to display page fit and with bookmark panel displayed. I cannot find how to do this.

I am trying to create pdfs using add-ins in Word and Excel through Acrobat Pro XI. I cannot set defaults for page size or bookmark display. Does anyone know how to do this?

Page size is dictated by what is configured for the authoring file. For custom pages sizes you'd make a matching custom page size for Acrobat (see Acrobat's Help).
For PDF Bookmarks you use Acrobat's PDFMaker with a supported version of Word or Excel.
You configure the PDFMaker's Preferences such that PDF Bookmarks can be made.
Coming from Word the default Word Headings are used. You can also configure to used the default Word Styles.
Coming from Excel you can only use the names of the worksheets within a work book.
Alternatively you can create Bookmarks for a PDF manually using Acrobat XI (and earlier versions).
Note that Word "Bookmarks" are in no way the same as PDF "Bookmarks".

  • Create PDF from Web page using Acrobat X - Page Order

I have a structured web site that is in fact Program Help The web pages are structured as follows:
index.html - Main Topic Index page with links to all topic subject index pages
topic/index.html - Topic Subject Index Page with links to all subject pages
    topic/subject.html - Subject page
    .....etc
Using Acrobat 5 "Create PDF from Web Page" created a perfect logical PDF  page structure in the page order of of the web site. In Acrobat 5 page 1  was the Main Topic Index Page, page 2 was the 1st Topic Subject Index  Page, page 3 was the 1st Subject Page, then the 2nd subject of the 1st  Topic, etc. until the Topic Subjects were exhausted after which the 2nd  Topic Subject Index Page and so it went on. As a result the bookmark  structure was sensible. The page order was as follows:
    Main Topic Contents
    Topic 1 Contents
    Subject 1 of Topic 1
    Subject 2 of Topic 1
    Topic N Contents
    Subject 1 of Topic N
    Subject 2 of Topic N
Acrobat X (just purchased) produces a differently structured PDF from the same HTML pages. The order is:
    Main Topic Contents
    Topic 1 Contents
    Topic 2 Contents
    Topic N Contents
Main Topic Contents (a second time)
    Subject 1 of Topic 1
    Subject 2 of Topic 1
    Subject N of Topic 1
    Subject 1 of Topic 2
    Subject 2 of Topic 2
    Subject N of Topic N
Question: Is there any way I can get back with Acrobat X the same page order I got with Acrobat 5?
Any help appreciated. The website is www.caliach.com/caliach/vision/help/index.html
    Chris

Acrobat is using the underlying mark up of the rendered HTML page.
This may or may not provide an adequate input to Acrobat when it is noodling out how and what to tag.
I suspect you may find that, to obtain an adequately tagged PDF, you may have to capture the web page content with the create bookmarks and create tags options off.
Once you have the PDF make working copies.
Try letting Acrobat tag this already created PDF to see what happens.
You may have to manually tag the PDF.
n.b., The default read order for western language can be altered by user selections in the accesibility setup or by selection in the PDF page(s) Page Properties.

  • Moving pages using bookmarks

Was hoping to receive some assistance with regard to this question, as I am having difficulty finding an answer online.  I know how to move pages in a pdf using drag & drop in the page navigation tab at the left side of the pdf.  But in a large document this may be cumbersome.  Is there a way to use bookmarks to move pages?  In other words, by dragging and dropping bookmarks (or headers) can I change the order of the pdf?  If not, is there any other way to easily move groups of pages in a large pdf?  thanks in advance for any assistance.

I am using Adobe Acrobate Pro 7.0.
