We have purchased Sql Server 2012 “Standard” edition license. Looking for the link to download of installation software for 2012 “Standard” edition. Have tried
a lot but could only found - the “enterprise” evaluation copy.

1.Do you have MSDN subscription ? You can download from MS link directly if you have one. Please ask the vendor who provided you with License he would be best person to call.
2. On license page you just have to enter license key that's it , after that SQL Server just knows what it has to do. It does not asks you anything about license it just proceeds

I have recently bought a Virtual Machine from a data center and installed a Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition on it. As I tried to install the SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition, the data center administrator denied me to do this telling me it is not possible
to install any licensed Microsoft software on a Windows installed on virtual machine created by Hyper-V. It was really strange for me! I wanna know if this is true.

SharePoint 2013 Enterprise and SQL Server 2012 Standard edition vs. Enterprise - feature question

I can't seem to find any clear answers to the implications of installing SQL Server 2012 standard edition vs. enterprise in regards to SharePoint 2013.
I understand that to get many of the features you need Enterprise edition of SQL 2012; but, what I can't figure out is if the backend SharePoint SQL 2012 is standard; but, the PowerPivot/SSRS server is Enterprise will we still get the features?
If we have 3 tier SharePoint farm, one of those tiers is for the SQL Server database backend. If that SQL instance is 2012 standard and we add another server to the farm w/ SQL 2012 Enterprise to handle the tabular models, PowerPivot, and SSRS in integrated
mode will we still get the features?
Or, can we (should we) install Enterprise 2012 as the SharePoint database backend and let that instance triple down as also the PowerPivot and SSRS instance?

SQL Server 2012 Standard is not supported PowePivot for SharePoint . In addition, SQL Server 2012 Standard is also not support some Reporting Services Features.

Is Cross Subnet Failover supported in SQL Server 2012 Standard edition?

I'm trying to find out if Cross Subnet Failover is support in SQL Server 2012 Standard edition? From the documentation I can find it appears that AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances is supported for two nodes but there is no definitive answer regarding Cross
Subnet failover. Just trying to figure out if it is possible or if I need enterprise or move my replication nodes on the same subnet.

What licenses and how many should be taken for SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition

Hi,
Could you help me please with my problem: what licenses (per core or Server + CAL) should I take for SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition for the following environment:
SQl Server will be installed on VM with 1 core.
Physical processor is Intel Xeon CPU E7-4830, 2.13 GHz, 2131 Mhz.
Few people will have an access to the VM but SQL server is used for a web-application for about 200 users from Active Directory.

You can download
SQL Server 2012 enterprise evaluation edition.
After download is finished locate setup file and right click on it and select run as administrator when you reach page where you have to select Evaluation edition or enter Key for licensed edition please enter the license key and continue with installation.
After installation completes you would get standard edition

How to download SQL Server 2012 Standard Trial Version?

I would like to try Standard Edition of SQL Server 2012. Where I can download it?
I followed this link www.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/get-sql-server/try-it.aspx and downloaded and installed. But when I check in SQL Server Management Studio (Mangement Studio->Server->Properties->Generals->Product), it shows "Microsoft

As I don't need Enterprise Edition for my project, I would like to test with Standard Edition for few days before purchasing.

There is no edition specific to evaluation edition.Its same as enterprise but you can use it maximum for 6 months and you cnanot use it in production.Use below link for Eval edtn

Now there is no standard evaluation edition.If you want to specifically test on Stand. edition you need to buy a license copy.But i guess you want to test some non enterprise features so you need to by stand for it.

SQL Server 2012 standard edition on 2 node cluster

I have an environment with three SQL instances running an application. Two of the instances are enterprise edition and one is standard. I am looking to move all instances up to SQL Server 2012 and hoping to put them on a 3 node Windows Failover Cluster.
I understand that standard edition is limited to two nodes. What I want to know is what my options are?
Can install standard edition on the cluster but only on two of the three nodes?
Do I need to create a second Windows Cluster? Is this even possible?

Yes. That's possible. SQL Setup would block you to add third node. It doesn't check how many nodes we have in windows cluster.

Role based Measures in SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition

my use case: user 1 should have access only to Unit/Qty Measures and user 2 should have access to both - Qty AND $$ Amt measures. I CANT use Perspectives since im on Standard Edition.
Is there a workaround to hide a Measure based a user Role?

Step1 - Create new role for User 1
Step2 - Check then enable read permission box on the Cell Data tab in the role editor
Step3 - Enter the following expression into the Allow Reading of Cube Content box
[Measures].CurrentMember IS [Measures].[Unit/Qty]

I am trying to install sql server 2012 standard edition on windows server 2008R2 but at the end of the installation it is giving me the following error message:

Hi,
This 3rd time I followed this link. But nothing new, same error.
Can you please tell me how to do follow, I cannt do the 1st step, how to change the local system to windows level account, vice-versa. It is shown mine as
Server Configuration Manager(Local)
From here I folllowed the steps ---[I cannt insert link/image :-(]

If I right clicked on SQL Server Service, there is no option to change the account.

To resolve it, follow these steps:-
When the installation throws this error, click on OK and allow it to proceed. It will fail for Database Engine, but the SQL Server service should have
been created. Check the Services console.
If the service is present, perform the following steps:-
1. Go to SQL Server Configuration manager, right click on the SQL Server service, and change the service account (if it is local system, give
it a windows level account, and vice-versa). It might throw a WMI error but you will see the account getting updated anyway. If not, then use the Services console. Change the account for SQL Agent as well.

2. Next, try to start the service. It should come online.
3. However, you will not be able to log in to the SQL Server
4. Now stop the service and start it from the command prompt using -m -c -T3608 parameters.
5. Now try logging in to the server using admin connection from sqlcmd (sqlcmd admin:<server name>\<instance name> ...)
6. Once logged in, use the sp_addsrvrolemember '<domain\username>','sysadmin'.
Also add the builtin/administrators to the sysadmin role
7. Now stop the service from the command prompt and start it from SQL Server configuration manager
You should be able to log in to the server now.

Upgrade SQL Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition to SQL server 2012 slandered edition

Hi everyone,
Need help on below concern.
I have SQL Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition installed. Which contains SSAS cubes, SSIS packages and SSRS Reports.
I need to upgrade it to SQL Server 2012 Standard edition.
How can I achieve this ??
And I don't have much idea in SSIS package migrations.
Please help me to achieve this.

Please follow side by side approach for upgrade.Get a new windows box and install SQL server 2012 on it
Move databases from SS2008 R2 to SS 2012 by backup restore mechanism.
Move
jobs and logins by Scripting out and running it on SQL SS 2012.See links as well

SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition may not allow to create a linked server, but the workaround is to use the T-SQL. You can use sp_addlinkedserver and sp_addlinkedsrvlogin.
