  • Link local file with browse file dialog

    Hey guys,
    I'm looking for a solution to hyperlink to a local file (i.e. C:/test.txt). I want that the user clicks on a "browse file" button like the file browse item. after the user selected a file or just a folder the path should be shown in a display only item. this item should be clickable...
    Is it possible to create a "Browse file" dialog? I know that to link to a file is possible with some HTML tags in the "pre element text" and "post element text" fields. something like "<a href="... but I don't know how this works.
    Would be happy, if u have some tipps for me ;)
    Best regards
    Daniel

    No one an idea? Especially for the "Browse file" dialog?

  • No longer able to follow local file links.

    In previous versions of firefox ( 28 and Earlier ) I was able to follow local file links by whitelisting them in the user preferences file as shown here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_do_not_work
    This functionality has ceased to work with the update.

    You might find a similar bug already posted, but if not, sure, others are going to have the issue.
    I guess one question is implementation. What mechanism is replacing capability preferences? If there isn't something that general purpose, what kind of site-level permission could be relevant?
    And if the need is not clear, what are the use cases for http:// to file:// access that the developers need to consider? Or is it for file:// to file:// access that's most critical?

  • How can I enable links from an internet/intranet site to a local file in Firefox 4?

    I'm trying to allow links from an intranet page to a local file (e.g. "file://///server/share/file.jpg"). I found several articles and forum posts about doing this in older versions of Firefox (such as setting security.checkloaduri to false), but nothing seems to work for Firefox 4. Is there a new config option that I need to set to get this to work? Thanks.

    darren199,
    can you tell what you did to get that issue resolved ?
    I am having the same problem :
    Security Error: Content at http://intranet/group/maeva/documents may not load or link to file://///192.168.15.75/Downloads/rich.rtf.
    I created a user.js as suggested in the website (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don%27t_work) :
    user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "localfilelinks");
    user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.sites", "http://intranet");
    user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.checkloaduri.enabled", "allAccess");
    and the file is in C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hen5yfyq.default
    After restarting Firefox, I am still stuck with the same error.
    btw, the same links work in IE.
    Same results with file://server/share/file and file://localhost//server/share/file. I tried several URLs of this kind, but FF still stops with the same error message

  • Linking to local files - strange behavior

    Hi all,
    when I insert a link to a local file (using Insert > Hyperlink and then selecting "File" in the dropdown list), then Robohelp changes the absolute path to a relative path when saving the topic. Naturally this link does not work in a CHM.
    I can resolve the issue in the HTML view by changing the path back to an absolute reference such as:
    file://C:/Test/Hello_World.htm
    Such a link works in the CHM. However, I cannot get it to work in the TOC. I have checked the HHC and can verify that the path still is absolute there, yet the page does not open when clicked.
    Any ideas?
    Robert

    Hi Robert
    This is one purpose or reason you would use Baggage Files.
    Add the file you are linking to as a Baggage File and link to the baggage file.
    This may also have issues inside a CHM output though. But before we delve into the possible issues, give it a try and see if it works for you. It may work straight away. If so, that's great. But if you start seeing issues, post back for more help.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Selecting the link in local files

    Hi, I have cs5 and before  had mx2004,
    when I work I always used to click on the name of the page (the link) on the local file list,
    then automatically it was higlighted and I just clicked on copy,
    with cs5 when I click on the link its higlighted but leaves the extension out, that makes me
    past the link without the extension, this is very irritating and I dont see the reason to do so.
    Is there a way I can configure this?
    Thanks in advance

    I'm not sure I understand your question.  To add a hyperlink to your web page:
    1. Highlight some text or select an image on your page.
    2. Click inside the Link Field on the HTML properties panel (Ctrl+F3).
    3. Click on the folder (browse) icon next to the Link Field.
    4. Select a file from your local site.  Hit OK.
    Does this help?

  • How to open local file link in IE ?

    I know, this question is not APEX-related per se, but I was not able to google the fix to this problem.
    In my application, users can open a file open dialog and retrieve a complete file path that is later stored in the DB. Of course, Firefox's javascript does not allow this, but Adam Fisk's applet (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405630#c40) does the job.
    The file path links to file:///..... . In Firefox, I have managed to open these links with NoScript settings (white list for our intranet trusted addresses and "allow local links" for trusted sites).
    Also, there is a LocalLink plugin (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don%27t_work) that allows to open local file links from context menu.
    However, on Internet Explorer nothing happens and LocalLink and NoScript are only for FF.
    Has anyone here managed to open local and intranet file links in IE?

  • Acrobat 8.1- links to local files

    Hello,
    I'm having several MS-Word-files, which have to be converted to PDF. All files contain hyperlinks to web sites as well as links to files on our local file-server.
    Conversion works fine out of MS Word 2003, but links to local files do only work, if I open the created file on the file server. If I up load it to our web server and open it with a browser, the local files can not be found (links to Internet do work).
    If I edit the link properties within the created file by changing the performed action from 'open a file' to 'open a web link', starting the URL with 'file://...', the links work correct.
    Is there any possibility to tell Acrobat, that this has do be done while converting MS-Word-files?
    I even tried to change the absolute address within MS-Word, e.g. adding http:\\ to the link, but Word didn't allow this...

    Thank so much.
    But in other PCs the link works fine. It only happens in my Acrobat 9 Pro. In my mates PC the links works perfect.
    Any suggestions? Maybe this is a windows problem?
    Thanks!

  • [Desktop] Link & Unlink Local Files

    This recent update is really ruining my playlists by linking completely different files on my computer to albums that I am trying to stream.
    For instance, Babymetal's Red Night album. If you look at the picture I attached, every single one of the songs on Black Night where the artist name of Babymetal is white instead of grey has been linked to Red Night, even though they are completely different versions of the songs. When I am trying to play a Red Night track, instead of playing the Red Night track, it just says it is and plays the linked Black Night track instead as if I can't notice a difference. So, essentially, despite the fact that I am paying the premium fee, nearly the entire Red Night album is unavailable to me because I have completely different local files being linked to it. This is completely asinine. There used to be an absolutely necessary feature in which you could rightclick on a song and select an option to unlink it from a local file. This needs to be brought back immediately.

     I can't agree more to have this unlink feature installed as soon as possible.I now have to use two players (spotify for music I do not have) and poweramp (for music I have local)This is the only I know way to be able to have all the music off line.  If I download my local music (4000 songs) through spotify, my music is replaced by spotify music resulting in reaching the download limit of 3333 songs. Maybe they have to limit this feature to premium customers if that would make sense from business point of view.Major drawback of my approach - I can't shuffle all the music anymore and have to choose which collection I'm going to take before start playingSo I'm willing to tolerate this for some time, but thius has to be solved within the coming months or I will look for alternatives.

  • Using local file links like file://n:/path/filename.txt in Announcements does not work

    Hi all,
    I would like to use the SharePoint 2013 announcement web part for our company intranet. Basically this works fine. Now and then we have the need to include local file links into the body of the announcement, e.g. "Read this new Version of
    file x: link". When creating a new announcement I can insert a link like this:
    file:///n:/path/file.docx or similar.
    But as soon as I save the new announcement, the link is gone (href part is removed from the anchor).
    Is this behaviour per design? Can I change it to allow local file links inside of list columns?
    Thanks for your help,
    Nothi

    Hi Nothi,
    We can go to that particular existing announcement list(e.g. mine is Announcement1)->list settings page.
    1. then make sure the option "Allow management of content types? " is enabled from Advanced settings.
    2. then click "Annoucement" content type link (like image below).
    3. then click "Body" column link.
    4. then click "Edit column" link.
    5. then select "Rich text" option as above image showed, save the change.
    6. then you can test again in this particular announcement list, it should work.
    If you want make all announcement type lists could use link to network location in the furure, you can create a custom announcement content type with the Body column which has enabled this "Rich text" option, then use this
    custom announcement content type for those lists.
    Thanks

  • Link iCloud with Local Files

    Hi
    I recently moved from iTunes Library from from NAS to my local HD. In doing so iTunes didn't pick up some of my purchased music in the Music directory, leaving them orhpaned on the file system. The iCloud version appears in iTunes, but if I re-added the local files I will hhave duplicates with the iCloud version and the local version. Is there a way to reassocuate my iCloud version with the local file I have?
    Looking in the XML I see the iCloud versions lack the File key and Location. Could I just add this to the XML?
                                  <key>Track Type</key><string>File</string>
                                  <key>Purchased</key><true/>
                                  <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Users/XYZ/Music/iTunes/Media/Adele/Set%20Fire%20t o%20the%20Rain%20-%20EP/01%20Set%20Fire%20to%20the%20Rain.m4a</string>
    Thanks

    It works the same way as mobile me.  The change is made locally and then pushed when an internet connection is available..,

  • Open a Local file from JSP

    Hi All,
    I want to access a local file from a JSP. On click of the link the local file should open. The location of the local file is
    O:/VWS00000000000000000001/REPORT_FRAGMENTS/Title1.doc
    and the hyper link on the JSP shows
    file:///O:/VWS00000000000000000001/REPORT_FRAGMENTS/Title1.doc
    somehow the file does not open from the JSP page but it opens from the browser if I type
    'file:///O:/VWS00000000000000000001/REPORT_FRAGMENTS/Title1.doc' in the address bar.
    Can anybody please help.
    regards,
    Shardul.

    if you'd like to show the real path to the user, use simply an ftp server !
    however, if you prefer a secure solution, so use a servlet:
    example:
    import java.io.BufferedInputStream;
    import java.io.File;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import javax.servlet.ServletException;
    import javax.servlet.ServletOutputStream;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
    public class SendWord extends HttpServlet {
      public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
          throws ServletException, IOException {
        //get the 'file' parameter
        String fileName = (String) request.getParameter("file");
        if (fileName == null || fileName.equals(""))
          throw new ServletException(
              "Invalid or non-existent file parameter in SendWord servlet.");
        // add the .doc suffix if it doesn't already exist
        if (fileName.indexOf(".doc") == -1)
          fileName = fileName + ".doc";
        String wordDir = getServletContext().getInitParameter("word-dir");
        if (wordDir == null || wordDir.equals(""))
          throw new ServletException(
              "Invalid or non-existent wordDir context-param.");
        ServletOutputStream stream = null;
        BufferedInputStream buf = null;
        try {
          stream = response.getOutputStream();
          File doc = new File(wordDir + "/" + fileName);
          response.setContentType("application/msword");
          response.addHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename="
              + fileName);
          response.setContentLength((int) doc.length());
          FileInputStream input = new FileInputStream(doc);
          buf = new BufferedInputStream(input);
          int readBytes = 0;
          while ((readBytes = buf.read()) != -1)
            stream.write(readBytes);
        } catch (IOException ioe) {
          throw new ServletException(ioe.getMessage());
        } finally {
          if (stream != null)
            stream.close();
          if (buf != null)
            buf.close();

  • How Can I Get A Flash Movie to Access Local Files

    I have a customer that has created a Flash movie to run off a CD.  The movie is basically a set of menus with links to access local files in the same directory as the movie.  i.e. Main folder (to be root of CD) has the movie, a Documents folder with PDFs, a Movie folder with wmv and mov files, etc.
    The problem arrises when you click on a link to a file, a web browser is launched, and the browser tries to display the target file.  The movie was designed on a Windows system, and, mostly it works in a Windows environment, however, the links totally crap out on a Mac because the URLs are pc centric.
    He is a rookie flash programmer so I am trying to help him set up proper links to the files, so that the files will (hopefully) launch the proper local app and not a web browers.  i.e. if the link points to a PDF, the Adobe Reader is launched; if the link is to a mov file, then QuickTime is launched....
    Is there a way to do this?  All the tutorials I have found all seem to expect the flash movie to be running on a web server, and as such do not work when running the movie off a CD.
    Any help or suggestions would be grealy appreciated.
    A response ASAP would also be greatly appreciated as the customer needs to deliver 200 CDs of the project for a presentation tomorrow morning - I have to create the CDs...
    TIA

  • How can i make hyperlink to local file for dowloading

    How can I make hyperlink to a local file for downloading it, it seams that only www links work in web Ui.
    Thanks

    If we assume that you have a LabVIEW application running on your cRIO that is exposing some data through web services, there are a couple of possibilities.
    You can create a web service call that returns the log data. In order for the browser to treat this as a file, you must set the correct content type in the http header. To do this you can't use the default form of data output. Instead you must create an "httpRequestID" input to your web service VI. With this you can call "Write Response.vi" to give the log data and "Set HTTP Header.vi" to specify the type (text/text probably works for a log). You can look at "examples\comm\webservices\address book\FindContacts.vi" to see an example of calling these 2 VIs. Once you create that web service entry point, you can set that as the URL of the hyperlink control and it should work.
    Another option is to have the cRIO application write to a log file that is under the root of the web server running on the machine. (This is the same place the xap for your Web UI Builder application is put.) This file could then be served up through the web server just like any other file.
    With either of these solutions there may be concerns about the browser caching results rather than requesting new content each time. There are additional values that can be set in the http headers with the first solution that can help with this, but I think there is still some variation between browsers.
