Linking PL\SQL procedure as Concurrent Process

Hi.
I'm link PL-proc as concurrent process, and it runs without any
errors.
Now I need also run it as standart report, but can't generate
output file to store any words to.
help.
mailto: [email protected]

Thanks for your response.
I am writing a BPEL PM process for inserting AP Invoices by inserting data into the interface tables, and then executing the corresponding concurrent program (APXIIMPT). I would like to trap any errors and send them back to the BPEL process.
One suggestion on how to do this is to write a pl/sql procedure which inserts the data, executes the concurrent program, collects any error messages, and passes them back via OUT parameters. Such a procedure could be called using an adapter from BPEL PM.
So the issue for this forum is how to make the single pl/sql procedure wait for completion of the concurrent process.
Alternatively, is there a business event raised when the concurrent process completes?

    I have a queue that I need to have the processing done concurrently no matter how many messages are in the queue.  Currently one 1 message is processed at a time, but I need at least 10 processed at once.  Each message could take up to 3 minutes to process so doing one at a time is taking too long when the number of messages grows to more than 5 or 10.  How can this be done?

  • Link to PL/SQL procedure using a Template Manager template.

    Hi,
    I need to link a portal application report (report from SQL query) to a SQL procedure that uses a template manager template. The PL/SQL procedure requires parameters. I'm not be able to create a link based on a PL/SQL procedure. The only solution I found is to setup a link to a Form based on that procedure. But the form is only used to call the PL/SQL procedure by clicking the submit button and redirect to the template.
    Another question:
    Is it planed to support dynamic links based on column conditions?
    I'm using Portal release 3.0.7.6.2.
    thanks in advance

    Jens,
    You may want to search the Oracle9iAS Portal Applications forum. It may have the answer you are looking for. This forum is for questions related to the Portal Development Kit.

    Hi,
    1- Create a hidden item P27_USER_ID on page 27
    2- Change your code :
    SELECT ID, NAME, akt,
           CASE
              WHEN akt IS NULL
                 THEN    '< a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:27:&SESSION.:START_PROCESS:NO::P27_USER_ID:'
                      || ID
                      || '" name="test_link" >set< /a >'
           -- refer to f?p=App:Page:Session:Request:Debug:ClearCache:itemNames:itemValues:PrinterFriendly
           END choice
      FROM users;
       And then
    DECLARE
       v_user_id   NUMBER (10);
    BEGIN
       --I want to read this value from the url
       IF :request = 'START_PROCESS'
       THEN
          v_user_id := :p27_user_id;
           --your code
       END IF;
    END;Hope this helps,

  • How to bind/pass multiple input parameters to sql query in BPEL Process

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to invoke a query on a database table to fetch the records based on the few input values or bind variables?
    I have created a Partner link using the DBAdapter service and have used custom SQL, how can i bind and pass multiple bind/input parameters for these queries.
    foreg: if i have to query employee records based on name , desgination and age, these three params would be my input parameter that i will pass when i invoke the BPEL process, bow how can i pass these parameters to the partner link using DBADAPTER service.
    Please help
    Regards

    If the parameter-value is not known beforehand and cannot be determined based on the process instance data at that time, there are 2 options. Either invoke the PL/SQL procedure you named using a DB adapter service to get the value and pass it to the other DB adapter service. Or create a single service (e.g. PL/SQL procedure) that determines the parameter value, executes the query and returns the result. However, this is more a design issue. Does it makes sense to combine these actions in a separate service and use it or are these actions not related? You furthermore state that additional (DB adapter) services make the process heavier. Do you have strict requirements on the time process-instances may run or other such requirements? If not, I think the design-choice on whether combining these actions in a single service should have more priority.

  • PL/SQL procedure "Not Defined"

    I have created a PL/SQL procedure, compiled it successfully, and am trying to call it from
    an "onmouseover=" construction in the Link Attributes for a report column.
    I have created an application process entry for this procedure in Shared Components/Application Processes.
    When I place the mouse pointer over the column in the report I get an error stating
    the procedure is "Not Defined".
    I am trying to implement this onmouseover event in a manner similar to how it is implemented in the "Aria People, 0.92" packaged application I have downloaded from the Oracle/APEX web site. In the downloaded "Aria People, 0.92" application I have installed the onmouseover="ARIA_DETAIL(this,'#PERSON_ID#")" call works fine (on page 1 of the app).
    Interestingly, if I take the exact same call to the ARIA_DETAIL() procedure and place it in my application I also get a 'Not Defined' error on the ARIA_DETAIL() procedure.
    Clearly I am failing to do what is needed to have a PL/SQL procedure "Defined" for an APEX application. Can some kind soul please tell me what I have failed to do here?
    Thank you in advance.
    Jim Lewis

    Jim,
    Sorry to go to the basics but am I correct about the following?
    1. You created the pl/sql process as an ondemand process.
    2. You added the ARIA_DETAIL javascript function to the page on which your calling it.
    I'm just guessing but it sounds like you missed the second step there. Take a look at the application you got the code from and look at the Page Attributes. You should see some code in the HTML Header. That's what you need to add to your app.

  • XML Data from PL/SQL procedure -- special character issue (eBS)

    Hi All,
    I am developing a report, where the XML data is created by a PL/SQL procedure. I chose this approach over a data template, since there is a lot of processing involved in producing the actual data, and it cannot be done by select-statements alone. The report is run as a regular concurrent request.
    So far so good. There is a problem though. Every time the data contains special characters (ä, ö, umlauts), the concurrent request is completed with a warning, the log confirms that "One or more post-processing actions failed.", also there is no output file. The XML structure is valid as such. The report runs smoothly and produces the output when the XML data does not contain special characters.
    I am producing the XML lines by using the standard FND_FILE.PUT_LINE procedure: Fnd_File.put_line(Fnd_File.output, '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>'); This seems like a character encoding issue, but declaring the UTF-8 encoding in this way does not solve the problem.
    Any ideas what can be done to fix this? I have been searching Metalink but cannot find an answer. Many thanks for your kind help.
    Best Regards, Matilda

    Hi Rajesh,
    One idea I have, is that it might be possible to modify the PL/SQL code into a "before report" type trigger, attached to a data template. The code would process the data and write the lines into a temporary table, from which the data template could retrieve them in a simple select-query. However, it would be neat to be able to solve this without adding an extra layer of processing, since BI Publisher supposedly supports PL/SQL procedures as the data source.
    The data in this case is all correct, special characters are an intrinsic feature of the Finnish language. :)

  • How to poll a PL/SQL procedure in BPEL?

    Hi,
    Normally in BPEL your start your process flows by receiving an event. You can only create a BPEL instance via a Receive or Pick activity. I have a couple of integrations where I have to continually call a PL/SQL procedure and then call another PL/SQL procedure with the output from the first procedure. This is done by invoking 2 partner links and a While activity. I got this working fine. The problem is how to create the instance. At the moment I start the flow by reading in a dummy file with a Receive event. This works for now but if the process has to be restarted it will not work since BPEL know that it has already read the file.
    I have tried to start the flow with a receive activity that calls a PL/SQL procedure but I get the error “Operation is not specified” (http://theheat.dk/bpelDb1.jpg). Normally you would use a Invoke activity when calling a PL/SQL procedure, but when I try that I get an error because I don’t have a receive activity first (http://theheat.dk/bpelDb2.jpg)
    So basically I need a way to have a receive activity call a PL/SQL procedure.
    I have the exact same problem when I need to continually call a Web Service and send the output to a PL/SQL procedure. Here I need an Invoke activity that calls the Web Service and an Invoke that calls the PL/SQL procedure but to get the flow initiated BPEL wants a receive activity.
    Regards Pete

    I found a simple solution that works but I would like to hear if anybody can see any problems with this approach:
    I create a dummy table with one row. I create a partner link that polls the dummy table every 5 minutes. The operation on the table is an update, but the Read value and Unread value are the same!
    Every 5 minutes BPEL kicks of a process that calls a PL/SQL procedure etc. There will always be a row in the dummy table and as long as my polling interval is longer than the processing time of the flow I will never have more than one process in-flight at a time. This should ensure that the solution is robust.
    Regards Pete

  • Custom PL/SQL procedures in Oracle 11.5 10

    Hello,
    How to create Custom PL/SQL procedures in Oracle 11.5 10. I want to create a Stored procedure in oracle 11.5 10 that can be called from any other 3rd party sofware. Please help me out.. if there is any document which will be helpful to me please give me the link.... waiting for responses.....

  • DB Adapter calling PL/SQL Procedure gives error

    Created partner link, calling pl/sql procedure with one in variable and one out variable. Invoke works fine. Assigning pl/sql return value to output is causing run time error. "Rebuild" and "Deploy" works file.
    Here is the error:
    Assign_2
    [2007/08/03 14:18:06]
    Error in evaluate <from> expression at line "93". The result is empty for the XPath expression : "/ns3:OutputParameters/ns3:OUT_STATUS_CODE".

    </summary>
    </part>
    </selectionFailure>
    Any input would be appreciated..
    Thanks.

    Thanks, it works.
    In the “Assign Variables”
    Changed from:
    <copy>
    <from variable="Invoke_1_ASNDBTest103_OutputVariable"
    part="OutputParameters" query="/ns3:OutputParameters/ns3:OUT_STATUS_CODE"/>
    <to variable="outputVariable" part="payload"
    query="/ns2:ASNReturnStatus102"/>
    </copy>
    Changed to:
    <copy>
    <from variable="Invoke_1_ASNDBTest103_OutputVariable"
    part="OutputParameters" query="/ns3:OutputParameters"/>
    <to variable="outputVariable" part="payload"
    query="/ns2:ASNReturnStatus102"/>
    </copy>
    So far so good, but one question, compiler gives warning…but everything works well.
    Warning(97):
    [Error ORABPEL-10041]: Trying to assign incompatible types
    [Description]: in line 97 of "C:\HOME\jdevOAExt3\jdevhome\jdev\mywork\ASNTest101\BPELProcess1\bpel\BPELProcess1.bpel", <from> value type "{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/APPS/XRX_BPEL_INSERT_ASN_TMP102/}OutputParameters anonymous type" is not compatible with <to> value type "{http://www.thiscompany.com/ns/sales}ASNReturnStatus102".
    [Potential fix]: Please make sure that the return value of from-spec query is compatible with the to-spec query.
    Also, instead of direct variable to variable copy, used expression to variable copy and it works. You can avoid the warning from the compiler.
    Does not work ==> bpws:getVariableData('Invoke_1_ASNDBTest103_OutputVariable','payload','/ns3:OutputParameters/ns3:OUT_STATUS_CODE')
    Works ==> bpws:getVariableData('Invoke_1_ASNDBTest103_OutputVariable','payload','/ns3:OutputParameters’)
    So, why the compiler warning?

  • URL Syntax for PL/SQL procedure

    I am trying to call a PL/SQL procedure to delete a file attachment (from How To). I have modified the procedure to accept three other arguments (app, page, session). My delete-column link is:
    #OWNER#.delete_my_file?p_file=#ID#,p_app=&APP_ID.,p_page=&APP_PAGE_ID.,&SESSION.
    My procedure source is:
    PROCEDURE DELETE_MY_FILE(p_file in number,p_app in number,p_page in number,
    p_session in number) as
    varLocation varchar(100);
    BEGIN
         DELETE FROM hr.file_subjects f
         WHERE f.id = p_file;
         --print the redirect back to the web browser, return to paqe
    varLocation := '<script>window.location="f?p='||p_app||':'||
    p_page||':'||p_session||'";</script>';
    htp.p(varLocation);
    END delete_my_file;
    I assume that I can call a PL/SQL function or SPROC with multiple arguments, do I simply have the URL wrong?
    I get the "...URL not found on server..." error.

    I already granted execute to public. I can run this SPROC from SQL*Plus with no issues. I was simply trying to expand upon the How TO example and pass multiple args to a SPROC that is called from a query region column link. If I put it at the page level process, then I have to use checkboxes (or something else) to indicate which files I want to delete and then call a page submit.
    Is it not possible to call a PL/SQL SPROC with multiple args from a web link in HTMLDB?
