  • Get rid of Dotted box around links with CSS

    After I click a link on my site a dotted box appears around the link/image. From looking through the forums I have learned that this is a "focus state" used by people without a mouse to tab through the site and see where they are. I have also read the way to get rid of it was to put;
    a:focus img { outline:none; }
    into the css.
    I tried that and it didnt work. If this is infact the correct way to get rid of it, where exactly in the css should i put it?

    You have 2 Spry menu systems on your site. If you want this applied to all links, put this anywhere in your layout.css file.

    Add display:block; to the CSS for the A element, as here:
    .menu A {
    color:white;
    display:block;
    background-color:#3E3E3E;
    padding:2px 3px 2px 10px;

  • Problem with Css styles not showing in live view or when i browse

    I am using Mac osx 10.6 and building website with Dreamweaver CS5.  Sometimes div tags i create not showing styles or rendering in live view or when I browse but  showing in design view. I looked in dreamwever faq and they talk about not showing in design view to toggle the display styles. That is not the problem becuase it is check marked and I tried turning off and turning on and made no difference.I am using firefox browser.
    It happened before the other day too. But all of my other pages in this site that i have created the same way building with div tags and css styles. So not sure what the problem is. Maybe someone has a suggestion here.

  • Using templates with css in mx

    Hi,
    I'm sure I'm being stupid but it's driving me insane - I'm
    weaning myself off table based layout and using css (for the first
    time) in mx. I'm (finally) happy with my stylesheet and how it's
    all looking but can't seem to use css with a template - when I save
    the page as a template and preview the style sheet does not seem to
    be attached.
    Any help MUCH appreciated,
    Katy

    Very definitely!
    Good grief - your stylesheet is ... big. Usually so many
    custom classes
    mean that the stylesheet is WAY overengineered.....
    I'll take a look though.

  • Problems with CSS in Outlook express in Vista

    Hi all,
    I am just learning Dreamweaver (CS3) and I am creating a webpage that will be viewed on email, I have created the page design with links using CSS and tables and then uploaded the files which view fine on Safari on Mac and in Explorer on PC, but when emailed as a link (command i on Mac) when viewed in Outlook on PC running Vista it doesn’t seem to recognise the formatting and all the design is pulled apart so images appear at the bottom of the email, the background is on its own and the text although they have kept their sizing and colour settings are at the top of the email although the width of the text is not set anymore, does anyone have any idea why this has happened, would it be better to create it as tables instead?
    Hope someone can help.
    Cheers SH

    If you want to use CSS in HTML emails, you will have to make it inline.  Please read this -

  • Bg color with css

    I am using a background image and color with css. My image
    looks fine but I can't get the background color I want.
    Here is the code.
    <style type="text/css" title="mystyles"
    media="all">body
    { background-color: #000000;
    background-image: url(../bgimg.jpg);
    color: #5d665b;
    margin-top: 70px;
    margin-left: 120px;
    margin-right: 50px;
    margin-bottom: 70px;
    font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size:small;
    line-height: 180% }
    p { text-indent: 3em }
    h3 {color: #966b72; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman",
    Times, serif }
    h1 {color: #966b72; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman",
    Times, serif }
    </style>
    Thanks for the help.

    Can you provide a link to the site?
    > { background-color: #000000;
    > background-image: url(../bgimg.jpg);
    Are you aware that, without a background-repeat: no-repeat
    rule in the CSS
    rule for the body tag, your background image will tile and
    fill the screen
    so your black background color won't be visible?

  • Centering a file in the browser vertically with CSS

    I remember there was an issue doing this with tables and I am
    wondering
    if this is also hard to to with CSS. I would like to center a
    flash
    file, both vertically and horizontally. I have it centered
    horizontally
    but not vertically. This is what I have so far.
    body {
    background-color: #fff;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    #container {
    width: 800px;
    margin: 0 auto;
    background-color:25231a;
    My flash file is inside of the container in the html file.
    What do I need to do, to get this centered vertically as
    well?
    I tried this, but with no luck.
    #container {
    width: 800px;
    margin: auto;
    background-color:25231a;
    Thank you for any help!
    Brian

    If I don't hear anything positive from Adobe about fixing it,
    I am going to
    be much more vocal.

  • New window with CSS

    Just wondering:
    Is there a way to style the "a" tag or other container
    elements with CSS to duplicate the inline _blank and open a new
    window? or is the _blank on every link that opens a new window the
    best/only way?...I guess a class would add the same amount of code
    anyway. Just seeking possible options for coding some links to open
    a new window and some not to.
    Thanks, Sue

    The two approaches are most likely identical if you look at
    what the
    javascript is doing. I think your questions will be answered
    if you go back
    to Thierry's tutorials and study them....

  • Change the design with css

    As in many other threads told, I try to change the color of my E-Recruiting with css.
    I copied the MIME folder with BSP_UPDATE_MIMEREPOS to my harddisk. After that I imported those files on a personal folder e.g. myroot.
    After that I changed the BSPTHEMEROOT to myroot and changed some css-files.
    But there is the problem that new css-files are not used when I start the website. Have I forgotten anything to do or why are they not used??
    Edited by: Holger Lindacher on Oct 30, 2008 12:39 PM

    I wrote my problem to SAP and they told me, it's necessary where I import my mimes. It must be directly under SAP/PUBLIC/BC/UR/themes/Z_THEME.
    Only in this directory the files will be linked with the nicf-node

  • Got myself stuck with css

    I've gotten myself really stuck with my css layout. I've
    basically followed a couple of different tutorials to get where I
    am. if you'll visit
    http://eliteportraits.com/teetest/
    you can see the effort so far. Where i'm stuck is the main content
    block. I read different things on nesting div tags and can't figure
    out how to do this with or without nested tags. I basically want a
    white background for everything under the purple menu bar (I'd also
    like that bar to extend to the edge of the top rounded white
    graphic.). I ca't seem to make it work. what am I screwing
    up/missing? is there a tutorial somewhere that can help? This is
    the last thing I've got to figure out before I can finally move
    forward. thanks so much for any help.

    of the image.
    Then you need to put that line of text in its own container,
    a <div> <p>
    <h> whatever. Lets just use another <div> for
    now. Insert the new <div>
    in your pages code, right after your logo image (see below)
    <div id="top">
    <img src="tutorial_files/logo.jpg">
    <div id="topRight">some menu links here, like shopping
    cart and
    such</div><!-- end topRight -->
    </div><!-- end top -->
    Then use some css to style/position the new <div>
    #topRight {
    float: right;
    width: 350px;
    text-align: right;
    padding-top: 65px;
    Back-tracking on what I said yesterday about
    relative/absolute
    positioning you could also make the 'top' <div> have a
    position of
    relative and then the 'topRight' <div> a position of
    absolute to place
    it in the position required.
    #top {
    position: relative;
    #topRight {
    position: absolute;
    top: 85px;
    right: 0;
    width: 350px;
    text-align: right;
    This is one of the only times you should need to use relative
    positioning on a container i.e., when you require an
    absolutely
    positioned element to sit within it. However if there is an
    alternative
    way of achieving the same results then personally I would
    always use
    that method in preference. Many beginners just use relative
    positioning
    all over the place without really understanding what they are
    doing. Not
    all, but in the majority of cases, it is not required.
    Don't be afraid to experiment with css to see what results
    can be
    achieved using various combinations. Once you grasp the
    basics then the
    rest will fall into place quite quickly.
    The key is to think boxes being positioned by using
    margin/padding.
    Where people go wrong is they tend to use too many boxes
    which results
    in too many elements to keep track of or just plain don't do
    the maths
    needed to make css work.
    Always comment the end of a container </div><!-- end
    header --> or you
    can put the comment inside the closing tag <!-- end header
    --></div>
    This will make it easier to identify them when the page gets
    more complex.

  • Do do you use lightbox with CSS rollovers?

    Hi,
    I want to use lightbox with CSS rollovers. I can implement it ok with a sinlge thumbnail but I can't get it to work using the rollovers?
    I want the tumbnail image to be tinted, then when you hover over it it goes to the normal colour image (I have done this and its fine).
    But when I try to activate the lightbox through the rollover it doesn't work.
    Can anyone help please?
    Not too advanced here...lol!
    Regards,

  • Linking the css to page problem

    i have this page
    http://www.pupr.edu/template/students.asp
    in  it, spry collapsible panels
    spry menubar horizontal
    and  spry sliding panels
    as you know you have to link each's  css and js file right.
    well, i have them in an included  file that i include just before the closing head tag
    when i  have linked the menubar and the collapsible panels, they work ( kindof )  allright in IE ( Firefox always works )
    Kindof allright because  they appear closed and you can click open and click close but the  animation when u close jumps open and closes again kindof glitchy  looking.
    AND when i place the links for the sliding panel (  or any other link i linked to an achordeon previously ) and it stops  the functioning completely of the collapsible panels! ( in IE, firefox  keeps working perfect ) As they would appear if the js wasnt linked.
    So  my thought was that when i linked anything else IE dosnt link the  collapsible panels with its js or dosnt recognize them or i duno
    please,  anyone have any idea? this is so weird to me

    thanks Murray!
    the links are like that now
    <!-- link to css page-->
    <link href="/template/css/STYLE.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <script src="/SpryAssets/SpryCollapsiblePanel.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="/SpryAssets/SpryCollapsiblePanel1.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <!-- collapsible panels links above-->
    <script src="/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <!--  menu bar links above-->
    <link href="/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal2.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <!-- student submenu above-->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/template/css/SprySlidingPanels.js"></script>
    <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="/template/css/SprySlidingPanels.css">
    <!-- sliding panels links-->
    but nothing changed on IE, firefox stayed good.
    any other ideas Murray?
