Liquid Data and Excel worksheet

Hi,
According to the integration example in thispage, one of the requirements is that the Liquid Data server must be running on Windows, and the Excel spreadsheet must be on the local machine.
I have this requirement:
1. Liquid Data (LD) server to reside in a Sun Solaris box
2. This LD need to integrate to several remotedata sources including some Excel spreadsheets that reside on different Windows PCs.
Can LD on a Solaris read an Excel spreadsheet on a remote Windows PC?
Thanks in advance.
Rgds,
Derek

Watch for Liquid Data 1.1 on March 31.

  • Changing Last Mod Dates and Duplicate Worksheets

Recently it was discovered that several of our production Discoverer workbooks has duplicate worksheets in them.  I.e. there were two or more copies of each worksheet in the workbook.  Each workbook showed a last modified date more recent than when the workbook was migrated to production.  The copies in our QA environment did not have the duplicates.  So, it does not appear to me that the duplication happened when the workbooks were migrated, but at some later time.  How does the last modified date get changed when the owner of the workbook has not made any changes?  And does anyone know what sequence of events would create the duplicate worksheets?  This is Discoverer 11.1.1.7 and an Apps-mode EUL, although I'm not sure that has anything to do with it.
Also, I note that Discoverer Plus will not permit you to name two worksheets in a workbook with the same name, so I don't see how we could have accidentally created the duplicates through Plus.
    Thank you, Scott

You can batch change the date and time of the photos and files using the Photos->Batch Change or Photos->Adjust Time and Date menu options. The first option allows you to put a user selected delta time between the photos, i.e. 1 second, etc.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Keeping SharePoint Query Data and Excel Manual Entry Data Aligned

    Greetings!
I've been trying to find the best place to ask this question, so I'm hoping this is close enough to on-topic for this forum.
I have an Excel 2010 workbook that includes a table linked to my SharePoint 2013 site by a data connection. The SharePoint list feeds the table standard information that's managed on the SharePoint site, but I need the user of the Excel workbook to be able
to enter text manually in the workbook to associate local information with the line-items coming from the SharePoint list. To do this, I've added extra columns to the end of the table. This is not just text entered into columns to the right of the data table,
but rather the data table is extended to encompass the adjacent columns, so my expectation was that the rows of the table should hold some level of "identity" to associate the manually entered text with the corresponding data coming from the SharePoint
    site.
The user can enter information in the appropriate cells in the "extra" columns at the end of the table, but when I refresh the data connection, the addition of a new list item on the SharePoint side results in the user's manually entered text getting
out of alignment with the row it's supposed to be associated with.
    Example
    Column 1(SP)
    Column 2(Extra)
    Row 1
    Item 1
    Row 2
    Item 2
    Text entered for Item 2
    Row 3
    Item 3
Then, if I add a new item to the list in SharePoint, for example, something that would appear between the original items 1 & 2, after refreshing the table, I get the following:
    Column 1(SP)
    Column 2(Extra)
    Row 1
    Item 1
    Row 2
    New Item 1.5
    Text entered for Item 2
    Row 3
    Item 2
    Row 4
    Item 3
The table's data connection is set to insert rows for new items, and I could swear I had this working properly once upon a time...but I can't seem to make it work now.
Any thoughts on what would cause this?
    Thanks in advance!

I have a large amount of data in in .dbf files and excel worksheets can anyone suggest a way to transfter the data to Oracle database, is it possible? are their any tools? or any migration technique?
    please give your comments.
    Thanks,
    Imran Ahmed.

I have a perl script that generates SQl file to create suitable tables in oracle schema .. no indexes however, dumps dbf files for sqlloader and prepares sql loader control file
Another script generates hige .sql file that is doing the same thing without sql loader int consist of
    drop table ...
    create table ...
    insert
    insert
    insert...

  • Store data in excel file in multiple columns

    Hi,
I am working on a data logger type of project. I have to store data received from serial port into excel file. I have attached images of data I am getting at serial port  ,image of  how I want to store data in excel worksheet and image of VI i tried.
please note that I know VI   I  built is incomplete. I have mentioned in image, In which part exactly I need help...
If anyone can suggest more efficient ways to do this that will be very helpful.

You are not writing to an Excel file -- you are writing a "spreadsheet", which is entirely different.
It is usually a good idea to write yourself some documentation, as it can help decide how to structure your program.  For example, do you collect all of the data, and then write it all at once?  That suggests three sub-VIs, "Acquire Data from VISA", "Extract Data from Serial String", and "Output Data to Excel".  The output from the first VI could be an array of Strings that look like "XCount: 123   Depth: 456  YCount: 789", the output from the second could be a 2D array whose columns are the XCount, Depth, and YCount values, and the third sub-VI would take this 2D array and use the Report Generation Toolkit to write a true Excel file (.xlsx) with headers XCount, Depth, and YCount and containing the values from the 2D array.  Each of these tasks is relatively simple to do "stand-alone", and it will be much easier to maintain/modify your top-level design if you only have 3 sub-VIs (with maybe some "bookkeeping functions" like getting file names) to worry about.
On the other hand, if you need to acquire/parse/output a point at a time, this can still be done, but now you have to mix everything together.  Still, conceptualizing it as three sequential tasks (and maybe making three sub-VIs that do "one piece" of each task) might help you develop your algorithm.

  • SSRS/Powerview to compare SQL table and excel sheet

I have a SQL table and an excel sheet with some data...
I want to be able to compare the two and find out which Excel rows are missing in the SQL table...
Would it be easier to do this report in SSRS or would it be better to do it in Excel PowerView?
If so how do I go about it?
Thanks in advance for your help...
    Dhananjay Rele

    Hi Dhananjay,
According to your description, you want to compare the data of a SQL table and an excel sheet. To achieve this goal, we can create two tables in Reporting Services report, one for SQL table with SQL Server connection type, another for excel sheet with ODBC
    connection type.
For more details about how to create the report, please see the following steps:
Create a report server project with SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) Business Intelligence Templates list.
Create a new report definition file in Solution Explorer.
Create a Data Source named DataSource1 with Microsoft SQL Server Type, then select the SQL table database from the corresponding server.
Create a Data Source named DataSource2 with ODBC Type, then select the excel file.
Create two datasets which returns the SQL data and Excel sheet data based on the two data source, one for DataSource1, another for DataSource2.
Create two table next to each other based on the datasets on the design surface.

  • Convert Word and Excel  combined document

I need to convert a scanned document which has word data and excel data. Both are in separate parts of the scanned file. How do I convert each.

It sounds like Acrobat would be a better solution for you than ExportPDF.  With Acrobat, you'll be able to OCR the document while it's still a PDF, then extract the content you need, section by section.
With ExportPDF, you can convert the entire document to a Word or Excel file. I would suggest converting to a Word file. You may be able to move the Excel content at that point.

  • Data open/save-as in Excel worksheet

    Hi all,
i created implement one diagram into my existing vi for opening and saving the data in microsoft excel worksheet but it doesn't work. I have been looking through Excel Macro Example but couldn't make sense of it much.
still new in this and will really appreciate if someone can give me any insights for my problem.
    thank you

You need to learn about data dependency!
In your VI you are performing three actions simultaneously:
Reading from an instrument and collecting data and then writing it to a text file in tab-delimited format, and then reading that file, but not doing anything with it.
Opening an Excel workbook and then a worksheet, and then closing the reference to the workbook.
Opening the Excel application and then closing it the reference to it.
Why do you need to open/close Excel if you're already writing the data to a text file in tab-delimited format? Excel can read this directly.
I would strongly suggest going through the LabVIEW tutorials that discuss data dependency and how to code in LabVIEW.

  • Accessing same data in Multiple Excel Worksheets

I am trying to create a summary page based on data that is on subsequent worksheets via the Excel template in Bi Publisher 11g.
I wanted to know if there is a way to reference a Group. So if I had a Department (G_D) and a Employees (G_E) groups in the data model and then I wanted to reference G_D on both sheet 1 and Sheet 2 in the spreadsheet how would I do it.
I created the equivalent in the XDO_METADATa Sheet:
    XDO_GROUP_?G_D1? <?(.//G_D)?>
    XDO_?G_DNO1? <?(.//DEPTNO)?>
and the Template viewer ran but did not print out any departments. When I remove the XDO_GROUP_?G_D1? it prints out all of the departments in one row, rather than in columns as I would like.

Again, as I got no help from the forum, I resolved this by changing the data model within BI Publisher and created another query for the summary data and then referenced this on the other page.
Will leave thread open for a few days in case someone has a better way of doing it.
I wanted to reference the existing data because:
    a) it is already there, why should I have to run another query
    b) I am guaranteed to get the same results and won't have any rounding type issues when aggregating the individual values.

  • Upload data from multiple worksheets of excel file into SAP by using MIME?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to getting the data from a multiple worksheet excel file by usin the MIME Repository.
First of all i realizied it like [here|http://abap-explorer.blogspot.com/2008/12/upload-data-from-multiple-worksheets-of.html] in a normal ABAP Report.
By trying to transfer the code to a WebDynpro Component, i get problems.
With this part of code, because ActiveX is not allowed in our Webbrowser. So i have to find another solution to get the data from the excel file.
    CALL METHOD c_oi_container_control_creator=>get_container_control
    IMPORTING
    control = iref_control
    error   = iref_error
I tried to rebuild this solution in webdynpro. But it dont works.
So my next step was trying to Read the Excel sheet directly from MIME by getting the Content (XString).
But there is no useful information Just a mix out of '######' and other symbols.
By converting it into String the same problem.
Maybe someone has an idea how to rebuild [this code|http://abap-explorer.blogspot.com/2008/12/upload-data-from-multiple-worksheets-of.html] in Webdynpro that it works correctly.
Currently Im Using the Fileupload UI Element. All Works fine. I can Upload the Excel file to MIME Repository and i can open it from there.
But i cant get the same clear informationen from the file, to write it later in a Database, like before without webdynpro.
i hope someone can help me.

You can't read the native binary Excel Format in server side ABAP.  The functions and classes that did this in Classic Dynpro used OLE Automation via the SAPGUI Control Framework to remotely control Excel to read the data.  Because in the browser you have no connection to the SAPGUI or are sandboxed inside the browser; the same functionality is not possible.
I would suggest that you look into saving the Excel file as a open, text format.  You might be able to use XML (although the Excel XML format can be complex) to support multiple sheets. You would have to build the logic yourself (using XSLT or the iXML parser) to process the XML format back into ABAP data.

  • Is it possible to insert data into two Excel worksheets using Report Generation Toolkit?

I'm using the toolkit to insert data into two separate worksheets in Excel using named cells. The problem is that it tends to favor one sheet or the other. In other words, one sheet will have data and the other no data and vice versa. (Sometimes I get data in both sheets.) Is there something I can do to clear this up or is what I'm trying to do unreasonable? I would like to use two worksheets so one sheet receives text and data. The other sheet is used to format the data into a printable report. (i.e. using Excel's CONCATENATE function) The second (report) sheet is also used to receive plots (JPEG files) from LabVIEW. I'd send the plot images to the first sheet, but I can
not see a way to automatically transfer images from sheet to sheet. I'm using LV 7.1, Win2000 and Toolkit v.1.0.1

    Hi,
You can use the "Excel Get Worksheet.vi" under All Functions >> Report Generation >> Excel Specific >> Excel General to specify a particular worksheet as the current worksheet. Then, you can specify which worksheet you want to write to in your VI.
Let me know if you have any further questions and good luck!
