List of all columns in a schema?

Is there a view that can be queried for all the columns and their properties for all tables in a schema?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Handling Large list with 150+ columns(40+ Searchable) and 100000 rows.

    Hi All,
We are working on project architecture for project with the following issue:
    1. List having 150+ columns out of which:
    - 40+ columns need to have search (i.e Indexing)
    - 30+ lookup columns
    - 10+ date time columns
    - 40+ multiline text columns
    2. List having 100000+ records
    - As per business we don’t have any specific folder criteria to divide list items into folders.
    Business Requirements:
    - filter on the list (it should show real time data so can’t use SharePoint Search)
    - Export to Excel 30000+ data in <30 Sec
Our list is already normalized and we don’t see any scope to normalize it further.
Problems of breaking the list into multiple list:
1.)Low performance as join is taking very much time(due to 30,000 items)
2.)Secure transaction problem i.e. suppose we broke list into 5 child lists. Now if I need to add an item in list then it has to be implemented by adding part of item to each child list.
There may arise problem such as items inserted to 4 list successfully but failed in insertion into last list.
    Thank you in advance.
    Thanks, Satish

    Hi All,
We solved this problem by normalizing list into many list.
Then creating one search list with all columns as plain text no look up this list have all the columns from all different list. Then writing event receiver to update this search list on item change.
and one timer job which will delete and recreate this search list weakly.
Let me know if you have any better solution.

  • Including "All column name " in the dashboard prompt drop down list

    Hi All,
    I have following requirement :
    1. Exclude the one of the column value from the drop-down list ( say exclude XYZ from client Name)
    2. Add a new “All Clients” to the Column drop-down list and make that the default. This choice will be as if the user went in and selected all of the Clients on the drop-down list.
I am not able to achieve the second point of the requirement . Can anyone help me with this.
    Edited by: Surabhi24 on Jul 12, 2012 11:52 AM

If i understand you right you are trying to change "All column values" to "All clients" and you can do that in
    Global filter changes file
    oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\msgdb\l_en\messages\globalfiltermessages.xml.
    Thanks

  • An EUL query to list out All the Columns  (Fileds) for each Workbook

    Hi,
I'm using Discoverer 10.1.2.2 on an Oracle 9.2.0.6.
Does anyone have the EUL query that lists out all the names of Workbook/Worksheets and the names of their fields/columns. I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks

    Hi
While it is not possible to read the workbook itself, whenever Discoverer runs a worksheet so long as you have enabled the gathering of statistics then a row is written to the EUL5_QPP_STATS table. In that table the column called DOC_NAME is the workbook, the column called DOC_DETAILS is the worksheet, with the CREATED_DATE being the date the worksheet was run. There are other encrypted columns in that table that contain the EUL items that were queried.
    Look at this code:
    SELECT
    QS.QS_DOC_OWNER    USER_NAME,
    QS.QS_DOC_NAME     WORKBOOK,
    QS.QS_DOC_DETAILS  WORKSHEET,
    TRUNC(QS.QS_CREATED_DATE) DOC_DATE,
    *(LENGTH(TO_CHAR(EUL5_GET_ITEM_NAME(QS.QS_ID)))+1)/9 ITEMS,*
    EUL5_GET_ITEM(SUBSTR(EUL5_GET_ITEM_NAME(QS.QS_ID),1,  6)) ITEM1,
    EUL5_GET_ITEM(SUBSTR(EUL5_GET_ITEM_NAME(QS.QS_ID),10, 6)) ITEM2,
    EUL5_GET_ITEM(SUBSTR(EUL5_GET_ITEM_NAME(QS.QS_ID),19, 6)) ITEM3,

    AND QS.QS_CREATED_DATE > '01-JAN-2009';
In order to run this you must have run the EUL5.SQL when connected as the owner of the EUL. This script can be found in the $ORACLE_HOME\Discoverer\Util folder of the machine where the Discoverer Administrator tool is installed.
Try it out for yourself and you will see how it works.

A data conversion means you should actually know what are the columns used for, not how many they are.
one more question that count include hidden columns
what is hidden column used for ? I can not see those columns in actual table.See here an example :

  • Feature Request: Consistently Intelligent Font Lists across all CS Program

Current Problems/Inconsistencies in Font Lists + Suggested Solutions:
    NUMBER OF FONTS SIMULTANEOUSLY DISPLAYED:
Premiere Pro (PP): 16 (too few!)
    AE: 19 (too few!)
    Photoshop: 40 (adequate)
Illustrator: auto-maximizing (displays as many fonts as screen supports, 50 on a 1920x1080 monitor)
*SOLUTION: Make all font lists auto-maximizing like Illustrator!
    FONT PREVIEWS:
PP: Yes (6 user-defined characters previewed next to font names)
    AE: No previews
Photoshop: Yes ('Sample' displayed in each font, but too small for comfortable viewing)
Illustrator: Yes (Each font name is displayed in actual font, but this makes it inconvenient to know the name of 'Dingbat' fonts.)
*SOLUTION: Make all font lists display font names in left column, with 'Sample' displayed in the actual fonts to the right.  When users select any text, replace 'Sample' with the first 1-30 selected characters for instant previewing in all available fonts (e.g. selecting the '&' character would display '&' in all available fonts for instant comparison). Also make font lists resizable with a horizontal zoom bar at top of list to ensure comfortable viewing for everyone.
    SCROLL BAR:
    PP & AE: Yes
Photoshop: Yes (perfect size and color scheme for best visibility)
Illustrator: No (current scrolling method is frustratingly slow!)
*SOLUTION: Add a Photoshop style scroll bar to each font list for best visibility/usability.
    FONT SELECTING WITH ARROW KEYS:
PP & AE: Yes, by arrow-keying up/down in both the font fields and font lists
Photoshop & Illustrator: Only from the font fields. Highlighting fonts with the arrow keys in the font lists doesn't result in font visualizing.
*SOLUTION: Allow PREVIEWING of fonts by arrow-keying up/down in font fields and font lists in all CS programs.  I emphasize 'previewing' instead of 'selecting', since previewing fonts avoids the problem of unnecessary undos being created for each font visualized with the arrow keys. (Note: Arrow-scrolling through the font field in Photoshop's Options bar works as I suggest, by 'previewing' each font without creating unnecessary undos.  Unfortunately, arrow-scrolling through the font field in Photoshop's Character panel does create useless "Set Character Style" History states for every visualized font.  This kind of inconsistency even within a single program is crazy!)
    CONCLUSION:
CS programs are all part of the same family, and should therefore behave as such with consistently intelligent tools.  This includes font lists with a consistently intelligent design.
Please comment and share!  Let's get these glaring font list inconsistencies finally fixed!

If you want to do this correctly you need to file a request for each feature.
Ripple Sequence and Chapter Markers is already implemented. Sequence markers are the same as chapter markers, yes? (Ripple Sequence Markers, select Marker > Ripple Sequence Markers.)
Ability to print the Keyboard Shortcuts, or save all of them as a text file. also available. (hold ctrl+shift while opening. A button with clipboard appears)
Keyboard shortcuts to scale image zoom in Source and Program tabs. available
Keyboard shortcuts to increase or decrease playback resolution. available
Make Export and Title windows return to the previously adjusted size and placement. They do.
Some feature you posted are great. How about a eyedropper tool for the Color Matte?
I find the Magnet for Snap quite visible. There is also this feature in the Pref to make the playhead snap.

  • Will deleting a column at logical schema delete the same at physical level by DDL Sync?

Will deleting a column at logical schema delete the same at physical level by DDL Sync?

    Hi David,
First of all thanks for your quick response and for your help logging the enhancement request,
I am testing more or less your suggestion but I  am not sure if I understood exactly what you mean,
1)I imported from data dictionary in a new model and into the options menu on the schema select screen I un-ckecked partitions and triggers,
I guessed that the import should not get from the data dictionary the information about the partitions but the result is that the tables partitioned (by list in this case) are partitioned by range without fields into the physical model on SDDM,
2)I select one of the tables modify a NO partitioned option and propagate the option for the rest of the tables
    3) I imported again from data dictionary but this time I included the partitions into the option menu on select schema screen,
into tabular view on compare models screen I can select all the tables with different partitioned option, also I can change for "list partitions" and select only the partitions that I want to import.
So I have a solution for my problem, thanks a lot for your suggestion
The second step I'm not sure is needed or maybe I can avoid the step with some configuration setting in any of the preferences screen,
if not, I think the options to not include partitions into select schema screen are not so clear, at least for me,
please, could you confirm me if a way to avoid the second step exists or if I misunderstood this option?
    thanks in advance

  • SSRS 2012: How to get a "Select All" that returns NULL instead of an actual list of all values from a multi-select parameter?

I have a multi-select parameter that can have a list of thousands of entries. In general, the user will pick a few entries from the list or "Select All". If they check "Select All", I would much prefer that I get a NULL or an empty string
instead of a list of all values. Is there any way to do that?
In experimenting with a work-around, I tried putting an "All" label with a null value in the list, but it is ignored (does not display in the drop-down). If I use an empty string for the value, my "All" entry does get displayed, but so
does "Select All", which is confusing. Is there a way to suppress "Select All"?
    - Mark

I adapted the following from a workaround posted by JNeo on 4/16/2010 at 11:14 AM at
    http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/249227/multi-value-select-all-parameter-in-reporting-services
To get a null value instead of the full list of all values when "Select All" is chosen:
    1) Add a multi-value parameter "MyParam" that lists the values to choose.
    2) Add a DataSet "ParamCount" identical to the one used by "MyParam", except that it returns a single column named [Count] that is a COUNT(*) of the same data
    3) Add a parameter "MyParamCount", set it to hidden and internal, then set the default value to 'Get values from a query', choosing "ParamCount" for the Dataset and the one [Count] column for the Value field.
    4) Change the parameter for the main report DataSet so that instead of using [@MyParam], it uses this expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!MyParam.Count =
    Parameters!ParamCount.Value, Nothing, Join(Parameters!MyParam.Value, ","))

  • Dynamic SQL query to get single value from list in a column

As Kronin implied, we normalize our databases. If you don't
understand that answer, the book "Database Design for Mere Mortals"

  • Return data from all columns apart from a certain data type.

Bit stuck on something, hope somebody here can help:
I want to do a 'select * from ' a table, to return all columns except ones of a certain datatype. ie. I want to return data from all columns, excluding columns of datatype 'SDO_GEOMETRY'.
This gives me the list of columns:
    SELECT COLUMN_NAME
    FROM   USER_TAB_COLUMNS
    WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'ORDER_ITEM'
AND   DATA_TYPE <> 'SDO_GEOMETRY'; But I can't seem to take it any further...
Now if I knew the columns beforehand, then of course I could just list them, excluding the geometry column, but this is to be used for a plug-in for MS Word, where a user can pick database columns to dynamically fill a report from - but I don't want the geometry columns as these can't be handled in this way.

    Hi Reggie,
    > connects to the database and presents a list of tables
My guess is that this macro is written so it selects from all_tab_cols.
Change that plugin and let it select from a view like the one above. That way, the users won't be able to see/pick anything that you are not able/willing to present for them.
    Edit:
You could even tease your users, and let them see the columns, but not being able to pick them.
    create or replace view available_tab_columns
    as
       select decode(pickable.data_type, null, 0, 1) pickable
             ,atc.* -- narrow down yourself
         from all_tab_cols atc  -- or maybe user_tab_cols
,(select 'CHAR' data_type from dual union all
select 'DATE' from dual union all
            select 'NUMBER' from dual
               -- complete positive list, yourself
              ) pickable
        where atc.data_type = pickable.data_type(+);Regards

You r right,But that program is already developed in following sequence
    *==>  1. Create Virtual Spool
                using FUNCTION 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
*==>  2. Write Report to Virtual Spool. Use NEW-PAGE PRINT ON option.
NEW-PAGE PRINT ON PARAMETERS WF_PARAMS NO DIALOG.

*===> 3. Prepare Path and set spool number.
*===> 4. Convert List to PDF format.
                 Use function 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF'
    *==> 5. download PDF file
                CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'.
and it's not showing readable download file.
I don't have to change whole coding. I just want to increase that font.

  • When creating a "lookup" column be able to display not only one column from the other list, but additional columns

With the lookup technique, it is possible to select an item from another list and display one column of this item
It is obviously possible to create several lookup columns on the same list and therefore display several columns
There’s a high risk of not selecting the same item and therefore have inconsistent columns
The Requirement therefore consist of being able of displaying several columns of the same item from the other list, based on one unique selection
    Example:
In list(x), define lookup column on list (y), column Title (possible today)
Then define a “secondary” lookup column on same list, column Code
The effect would be that when selecting an item from list (X), both Title and Code would show up consistently in 2 different columns of list (Y)
    All possible solutions are welcomed

If you are using SharePoint 2010, you can retrieve additional columns when adding a Lookup. If you are using 2007, there is no direct OOTB way, but the following two posts provide potential work-arounds:
