LMS 4.0.1 Dashboard/Portal numbers inaccurate

Using LMS 4.0.1
When viewing the Collection Summary Portal on any dashboard view, the reported number of devices succeeded and failed for the Topology Data Collection and UT Major Acquisition are not accurate.
I am unsure where to find a Job Browser for either of these jobs but if I look in Topology the indications are that Topology knows about 742 reachable devices and 1 unreachable, however the Topology Data Collection shows only 88 (85 success, 3 failed). The schedule appears to be set to include all devices
I would appreciate some guidance as to where to look
Thanks

Hi Joe,
thanks for the reply - helpful as ever. After reading the document on reinitialising the DfmEpm database I have two further questions:
1) Should I reintialise all three Dfm databases as the document suggests?
2) Am I going to lose all the modifications I have made to monitoring of individual devices? I've spent days disabling GLBP interface monitoring since LMS can't support that and I'd much rather the count be wrong than do that again.
regards,
Aaron

  • Issue with viewing SAP Dashboards Portal iView in iPad Safari browser (Mobile)

    Hi,
I am facing an issue while viewing iViews hosted in SAP Enterprise Portal. I have two iViews -
    1) An SAP BICS Dashboard - Published as an iView in EP. I can see the dashboard in my laptop running properly. It consumes BEx queries (BICS dashboard) in the background.
    2) A BEx query published as an iView (java web format), also able to run and execute from my laptop.
When I am logging into the portal from IPad Safari web browser I am able to see and run the BEx query iView published in the portal.
However, for the SAP Dashboard iView, it is showing me a blank page after loading. Is it possible to see SAP BICS Dashboard through an iView in Ipad?
I need to run the dashboard iView from the IPad as well. It is an urgent requirement
    Would really appreciate your help!!

    Hi,
Don't spend your time to find the reason.
BI platform content is not supported directly in Safari on iPad or Chrome on Android, only through the Mobile BI apps on these platforms.

  • LMS 3.2 - LMS Portal -- How to set 'My Portal' View as Default-View?

    Hi all,
LMS Portal comes up with three default views (My Portal, CiscoWorks Portal, LMS).
As within My Portal it is possible to change layout and sorting, I would like to set this view as
the default view comming up at login.
    How can this be configured?
    Actually LMS View comes up.
    Thanks for any feedback

You have to add the portlet Ciscoworks Admin to your portal
With this portlet you can set the default view
Add portlet -> Ciscoworks -> Other -> Ciscoworks Admin

  • LMS 4.1 (Windows) & NCS 1.1 (VM) Upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    Hi All,
Im getting a bit confused about the whole upgrade migration process for the following config to Cisco Prime Infrastructure:
    LMS - Version 4.1 , 500 devices. Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1
    NCS – version 1.1 , 50 devices  Red Hat Linux ( 64 Bit)  (Installation software - NCS-VA-1.0.1.4-small.ova)
I want to be able to backup databases and migrate licensing from LMS and NCS to one platform. Does anyone have experience of this and could possible guide me thorugh this process. LMS has SAS and NCS has SAU.
Help will be very much appreciated!!

It's a couple of steps but can be done. You may want to reconsider getting off of LMS since the latest Prime Infrastructure (PI 1.2) does not have full feature compatibility with the latest LMS (4.2.3). Have a look here for the comparison.
If you still want to do it:
    1. Upgrade your NCS to PI 1.2 (instructions). If you're going with a total of 550 devices on a combined license you should use the medium ova file to get the correct server resource allocation. You will need to get the new license from the TAC or via the licensing portal. I'm not sure if you can get the PI license for your LMS upgrade directly via the portal but you do have the entitlement for LMS 4.2 and PI 1.2 (combined licenses not to exceed the original LMS number) if your SAS is current. You may need to contact the TAC and ask for the licensing team.
    2. Upgrade your LMS to 4.2 and patch it to 4.2.2 (instructions). Once you've done that, there is a simple menu command to export your device credentials to Prime (Admin, System, Export Data to PI in LMS and then Operation, Device Work Center, Bulk Import in PI - instruction on Page 18 here). Do that and then in the new PI installation import the devices.
Verify everything is working and you can decommission the LMS server.

  • VMware Capacity Planner Dashboard - Constant Logouts

    Hello all,
I've been having an issue with the cap planner dashboard / portal over at optimize.vmware.com, in that it constantly logs me out and goes back to the login screen. At times I am able to stay logged into for 2 or 3 minutes before it logs me out, which is hardly enough time to setup projects and configure reports.
I've tried working from different networks using Chrome, Firefox and 3 versions of Internet Explorer, including 9, 10 and 11. I've disabled cookies, cleared cache. nothing seems to help and I just cannot get a long enough logged in session in order to do any meaningful work.
Before I raise a support request with VMware, I thought it would be good to see if anyone else is having this issue?
    Thanks
    Rynardt

I am experiencing the same behavior. Called VMware two weeks ago and after being transferred around technical support for two hours I was finally connected to an engineer who said they were aware of the issue and the portal team was working on it.

  • Issues to Configure SAML ,I tried alot but its not working ,Below Given instruction how to configure SAML

    SAML Overview
Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is an XML-based standard for exchanging authentication and
authorization data between security domains, that is, between an identity provider (a producer of assertions)
and a service provider (a consumer of assertions). SAML is a product of the OASIS Security Services
    Technical Committee.
SAML is relevant to those customers who already have a SAML implementation in use with other systems in
their organization. Therefore, it is recommended you engage your technology team that has a working
knowledge of SAML and provide this document to them for their review.
    Key Roles
    • Identity Provider (IDP): The system in authority that provides the user information
    • Service Provider (SP): The system that trusts the asserting party’s information, and uses the data to
provide an application to the user.
    • Subject: The user and their identity that is involved in the transaction.
Note! In our context, Learning Maestro is the SP, the IDP is customer-specific, and the Subject is the user
    who is logged in.

    Implementing SAML 2.0
    • SumTotal LMS supports only SAML 2.0 Standards.
    • We support only IDP-initiated SAML authentication.
    • The SAML Response should be signed and base64 Encoded.
    • UserName should be passed in NameID element under Assertion\Subject Keys.
    • We use the timestamp provided in IssueInstant attribute of SAML Assertion to find the valid period
(+/- 5 min ) for the SAML Response.
    • Currently, we do not support signed or encrypted assertions.
    • Deep linked URLs can be passed through an additional URL parameter of “OriginalURL.”

    4
When Learning Maestro is Accessed from a Portal
    1. The user logs into the customer portal.
    2. The user clicks on a link to the LMS from the customer’s portal.
    3. The link points to an IDP page.
    4. The IDP pages posts an HTTP Request to Learning Maestro
    5. The request is an < ... > message.
Typical Structure of a SAML Response
    • Below is the typical SAML Response received by LMS from IDP
    • Value of SAMLResponse parameter should be base64 Encoded.
Please double-click to open the below XML file to view how the response looks after decoding:

    Configuring SAML 2.0
SumTotal Maestro supports SAML 2.0 for the “Identity Provider Initialized SSO” protocol.
To configure your Maestro domain to accept SAML 2.0 Assertions, the following steps must be taken:
    1. Confirm that Usernames are in sync
    2. Provide an X.509 Certificate to SumTotal Systems (SHA1 Hashed)
SumTotal Systems will configure your environment with the X.509 cert you provide.
    3. Point your call to the following URL:
    https://gm1.geolearning.com/geonext/<your_domain>/saml.geo
After authenticating to your Identity Provider, the provider will pass a user into Maestro IF:
    • The user has a username matching an existing Maestro username
    • The x509 certificates match on both sides
If authentication fails, the user will be presented with a failure page.
    Assertions
An optional assertion is available to specify the URL a user will be sent if there is an authentication error.
    ErrorRedirectURL Assertion
    • If ‘ErrorRedirectURL’ is not specified and an authentication error or other security exception
occurs it will redirect the user to the default secerror.geo page as it does today
    • If a value (URL) is specified for ‘ErrorRedirectURL’ and there is an authentication error the user
will be redirected to the URL specified

  • Logical Database design and physical database implementation

    Hi
I am an ORACLE DBA basically and we started a proactive server dashboard portal ,which basically reports all aspects of our infrastructure (Dev,QA and Prod, performance, capacity, number of servers,No of CPU,decomissioned date,OS level,Database patch level) etc..
This has to be done entirely by our DBA team as this is not externally funded project. Now i was asked to do " Logical Database design and physical Database
    implementation"
Even though i know roughly what's that mean(like designing whole set of tables in star schema format) ,i have never done this before.
In my mind i have a rough set of tables that can be used but again i think there is lot of engineering involved in this area to make sure that we do it properly.
I am wondering you guys might be having some recommendations for me in the sense where to start?are there any documents online , are there any book on this topic? Are there any documents which explain this phenomena with examples ?
Also exactly what is the difference between logical database design vs physical database implementation
    Thanks and Regards

Logical database design is the process of taking a business or conceptual data model (often described in the form of an Entity-Relationship Diagram) and transforming that into a logical representation of that model using the specific semantics of the database management system. In the case of an RDBMS such as Oracle, this representation would be in the form of definitions of relational tables, primary, unique and foreign key constraints and the appropriate column data types supported by the RDBMS.
Physical database implementation is the process of taking the logical database design and translating that into the actual DDL statements supported by the target RDBMS that will create the database objects in a target RDBMS database. This will generally include specific physical implementation details such as the specification of tablespaces, use of specialised indexing (bitmap, clustered etc), partitioning, compression and anything else that relates to how data will actually be physically stored inside the database.
It sounds like you already have a physical implementation? If so, you can reverse engineer this implementation into a design tool such as SQL Developer Data Modeller. This will create a logical design by examining the contents of the Oracle data dictionary. Even if you don't have an existing database, Data Modeller is a good tool to use as a starting point for logical and even conceptual/business models.
If you want to read anything about logical design, "An Introduction to Database Systems" by Date is always a good starting point. "Database Systems - A Practical Approach to Design, Implementation and Management" by Connolly & Begg is also an excellent reference.

  • Rating Scale:  Likert Question

    Hi
I've been able to change the options available, and even delete options I don't want included in the scale.
Why does a number appear in the scale?
    E.G.  My options are:
    Most prefer
    Somewhat prefer
    Neutral
But when I look at the quiz slide, it's become:
    1. Most prefer
    2. Somewhat prefer
    3. Neutral
I don't want the numbers at all, or if I need it for scoring in the LMS, I don't want the numbers displayed on the slide.  I can't see where to turn this off or on.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks
    Anita

The rating scale can't support multiple selections per row. You would have to use the multiple choice field (though its not a table layout).
We do support multiple fields on one line now. This post explains:

  • Some newbie Disco questions

My company just started implementing a big discoverer project. Its all new to everybody. I, the Oracle DBA, am now a Disco admin. fun stuff...
    1) I go to Disco Admin, do "New Folder From Database". That works great. Then later I change the source table, add some new columns. In Disco I can't figure out how to easily add those columns to my Folders. The "New Item" doesn't do what I want.
    2) The report writer wants to know "Is there any way you can make it such that it doesn't take two minutes to refresh a worksheet when I make a small change like change the heading name ?"
    3) I bought the Oracle Discoverer 10g Handbook, which is pretty good, and I took the Disco Admin class from Oracle. Any other favorite sources and training materials to learn all this new stuff?
    4) Which is better, Oracle Disco Desktop client or the web based Disco Plus?
    5) I think we have a "standard edition" of Disco. Is there an advanced version that has more features?
    6) Eventually we want the dashboard portal stuff for all our reports. Any suggestions on how to get started with that?
I'm sure I'll have alot more questions soon enough. I'm glad to find this forum. All advice much appreciated!
    Take care.. Allen

    Hey Allen.
    1. In general, you don't want to go from one source table to another. It will work, but be careful as any reports written against the 1st source table will not even open if all of a sudden the 2nd source table is missing one of the items from the 1st source table. So again, just be careful.
Having said that, whenever your source table changes (ie: the columns in the source table), then you should before a file -> refresh to pick up the new columns.
    2. You can stop a worksheet from refreshing until you tell it to refresh - for exactly the situation you're describing. But, to be honest, I usually just let it refresh. The trick is - when changing something trivial, or testing - is to have a condition that only returns a line or two of data quickly. Then do all your little fixes. Then turn off the condition again.
    3. What book is that? - just kidding ... just teasing Michael.
However, it is amazing to me that Michael has enjoyed a literal monopoly on this for a long time now and I suspect it must change at some point. I know I don't want to put in the effort.
However, title's I'd like to see from someone else would be something like: "Discoverer In 1 Minute A Day", "Discoverer For The Complete Doorknob", "Awaken the Discoverer Within", "How I Made A Million Dollars From Only $1 Dollar And Discoverer", "5 Minute Abs Using Discoverr", "How To Pick Up Girls Using Discoverer", etc.). Seriously though, it takes a huge amount of work to put together a book and no one but Michael has done it.
    4. These days - Disco Plus (if talking version 10g+). If before, IMO, Disco Desktop.
    5. Nope - one version fits all (well unless we're talking metrics here).
    6. Portals, etc. is great once set up. Also look into DBI at the same time. However, make sure you get people who really know who to set the entire thing up (ie: Portals, SSO, Disco, BIS, DBI, etc.) so it all works correctly.

  • Time to Open First App

    Hi
When I log in to xMII and click on a link to open a web page (any page with an applet on) there is a 10-20s delay before the page content renders.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it an applet cache thing?  What can I do to improve it?
Once the first page has loaded everything else works fine.
    Thanks
    Nick

    Nick,
You probably need to fire the waiter/waitress delivering your coffee - I imagine this issue is caused by the Sun JRE taking excessive time to initialize and have the coffee cup appear in your system tray.  I've seen this at a customer location, but with their corporate IT managed desktop it was impossible to determine the problem.
Do you have a landing home page that shows up in the main content frame (some sort of splash screen that is the default Tab in the MII dashboard portal)?  If you do, you can encourage the JRE to initialize before the user attempts to navigate to the content page with the desired applet(s).  Add something like this and it should help kickstart the JRE before the user selects your hyperlink:
    <APPLET NAME="xMIIDemo" CODEBASE="/Illuminator/Classes" CODE="iCommand" ARCHIVE="illum8.zip" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="1" MAYSCRIPT>
    <PARAM NAME="Server" VALUE="Simulator">
    <PARAM NAME="Mode" VALUE="ModeList">
    </APPLET>
It you are on v12 then of course you need to tweak the applet definition accordingly.

    Jeremy

  • IDSM vs IPS 4200

    Hi all
I'm trying to design a data center security solution. I have a 6509 E with sup 720 and FWSM. My concern now is whether to go for IDSM or a 4200 sensor. I know about the through put limitations of both products. Can you all highlight any other pros and cons ?
    thanks

I would recommend going for the appliances. It gets pretty difficult to troubleshoot the network with FWSM and IDSM in the same chassis. Etherchannels, STP, MAC-Learning.......you have to look at all that to see what exactly is happening in the network and the path taken by a particular packet. Since you have a 6500, you can load balance multiple IPS sensors using ECLB.
Also the appliances are modular, you can add interfaces etc.
Another downside is most network monitoring/management software(s) do not supported the IDSM properly, this includes Cisco's LMS and BMC Visualis/Dashboard. You will find the IDSM as a 'disconnected' device on both the Ciscoworks Campus Manager and BMC Visualis (on the network diagrams).

  • Setting a Default Page Filter for Large Number of Users?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm currently running Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) 10.1.3.3.3 and have a quick question regarding page filters.
I have a report with several page filters. One of the page filters is a multi-select filter of values A, B and C.
I want to configure my report such that all of my users who log into this report, will automatically be defaulted to the results where the page filter is pre-selected to be equaled to "A". Obviously, if the user wants to then choose another option, he/she may do so manually by toggling the page filter after the report initially renders.
The only simple way I know how to configure this is through a manual process of logging into the user's account, selecting Page Filter = 'A' for them, and saving their selections under Page Options. Once saved, there is a checkbox that I can select to make this saved selection the default home page for this report for that particular user.
The problem is that if I have several hundred users, it would be unfeasible for me to go and manually modify each user's account one by one to set the page filter = 'A' for each login.
There has to be an easier way to universally set a page filter on a certain report such that any group of users (that I can define) will see the same initial, default page filter value settings that I choose.
Does anyone know of an easier method to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi,
    1. Please put filter value default A then when user login in OBIEE it will display always A data only.
    2. Which security method are you implemented means LDAP/External table kindly conform.
If you want see the same page across all users.you have to create table in Database.
    Follow below steps.
    1. create table in database like below.
    col1 col2
    groupname Dashboard portal path
    2. Create system variable Go--> Manage-->Variables --> select system variable --> New Portal Path option.
    3. This variable apply in group level.
I am not sure this what your looking so far.
    Award points it is useful.
