LMS compliance check on all access lists
Hello, I am trying to create a complaince template in LMS 3.2.1 to check ALL extended access lists for an explicit deny any any rule. I found articles on how to check all interfaces including VLAN's but cannot seem to make it work for access lists. BTW, the access lists are not all named the same on all devices therefore I need to use wildcards for the name.
thanks.
I forgot to mention that i am running this against Cisco ASA devices which displays like this:
access-list TEST_ACL extended deny ip any any
I have tried:
access-list [#.*#] extended deny ip any any
but it returns all as compliant becuase it is stopping at the first access-list it finds with the explicit deny ip any any command and not continuing on to check all the other access lists.
Any ideas?

It's difficult to check whether I've entered all of several intended recipients of an email I'm composing. I can scroll up and down, but I can't see the entire list to check for inclusions and duplicates. Please reinstate the pull-down arrow!

Hover your cursor over the addresses. Hopefully a pop-up tooltip thingy will appear listing the addressees.
It's become difficult to see, but if you move the cursor about slowly in the grey area between the addresses and the message text window, you should be able to find the handle that lets you resize the addressing area and thereby see more addresses. Mine reveals its presence by changing to a slightly paler shade of grey.
I do detest the near-zero discoverability in modern GUI design. We seem to be slavishly copying of all the worst features of the Google UI. :-(
</blockquote>
Got it! Thanks so much. A little more detail for the benefit of others: you'll find the addressing area resize handle immediately above the white text area, in the narrow part of the grey area below all of the address field, subject line, scroll boxes and icons. -

: endHi,
NMAP gives the report for the first firewall interface it hits. In your case you have allowed tcp any any where it allows all the ports. I have mentioned only one example.... There are many in your case....
Also NMAP results will be effective once when you directly connect to outside interface or directly on to the outside LAN.

Access List and Conflict Resolution Problem!
My configuration for Allow and Deny is not allowing me to load images and CSS files through the gateway on a URLScraper channel.
I'm trying to figure out how to control access to resources using the Access List service, and I'm running into trouble. The Sun ONE Portal Server, Secure Remote Access 6.0 Administrator's Guide (Doc 816-6421-10) states:
Setting the Conflict Resolution Level
You can set the priority level for the dynamic attributes. If a user inherits multiple attribute templates, say from an organization and a role assignment, and there is a template conflict between the attributes in the two templates, the template with the highest priority is inherited. There are seven settings available ranging from Highest to Lowest.
See the Administration Guide, iPlanet Directory Server Access Management Edition for more details on conflict resolution.
Unfortunately the referenced Adminstration Guide for DSAME contains exactly 0 occurances of the word "conflict" in its 136 pages, so that reference was less than helpful. Chapter 17 of that document (Doc 816-5620-10) describes URL Policy Agent Attributes, which sheds some light on what the URL Deny and URL Allow settings mean. The key sentence is, "An empty Deny list will allow only those resources that are allowed by the Allow list."
So, I've set up my Access List services as follows:
o URL Deny is blank on all Access Lists
o URL Allow set as follows
---- isp
------- http://portal.acme.com/portal/* (company name changed to protect the guilty!)
---- acme.com organization
------- Conflict Resolution: Highest
------- http://portal.acme.com/portal/* (same as above)
---- Acme Customers Role - shared role for all Acme customers
------- Conflict Resolution: Medium
------- http://www.acme.com/*
------- http://support.acme.com/*
------- http://support2.acme.com/*
---- RoadRunner role - specific role for a specific customer
------- Conflict Resolution: Medium
------- http://roadrunnerinfo.acme.com/*
The Desktop services in each of the above two roles includes channels from the hosts in the URL Allow lists.
The behavior I'm seeing with this configuration is that the desktop channels include information from the scraped HTML, and the URLs are rewritten for the included images and CSS files and such. However, the gateway is denying access to the images referenced by the rewritten URL. That is, an image with a URL of https://portal.acme.com/http://roadrunnerinfo.acme.com/images/green.gif shows up as a broken image on the desktop. Attempting to access the URL to the image directly results in an "Access to this resource is denied !! Contact your administrator" error message.
If I set the conflict resolution on the acme.corp organization to Medium (or anything lower than the two role conflict resolution levels) results in the same error message as soon as the customer logs in (no desktop rendered). The same error occurs if I set the conflict resolution in the two roles to Highest (same as the top level organization), again with no desktop rendered on login.
If I put all the above referenced URLs in the acme.com organization Access List service, then I am successfully able to fetch all the resources (images, CSS, etc.) in the URLScraper HTML. Likewise if I put "*" in that Access List. However, this is less than ideal, as it would potentially allow other customers to view data that isn't theirs (Wile E. Coyote user should not be able to get to Road Runner data, and vice versa, and neither one of them should get at Acme private information!).
So, what am I doing wrong? Also, does anyone have any leads on where I can read up on how Access Lists and conflict resolution are supposed to work, since Sun neglected to include a valid reference in the Administrator's Guide, Portal Server 6.0 SRA?
Thanks!
-mattDid you ever get anywhere with this. My experiments seem to inidicate that you cannot successfully combine Access and Deny directives, across roles or organizational defaults and a role.

How to be notified when access-list on ASA is modified
Good Morning,
Is it possible with snort or some other application to check if an access-list was modified and be alerted with the rule that was changed / edited, and once you acknowledge the change alerting would stop.
Thanks
EtIf you're running on a private LAN then there isn't much to worry about - only systems on the LAN will be able to hit your machine. External traffic should be blocked at your router (you typically have to enable port forwarding in the router to get external traffic to hit your server.
That said, if you really want such an alert then check out Little Snitch. -
LMS 4.2 Compliance check extended access-list
Hi,
I would like to check of our router has one specific line in an extended access-list. I have tried to use the 'baseline compliance' to get the output, but can't get the syntax right.
I would like to avoid checking on the line number in the access-list, because this is not the same on all the routers.
I have made a new compliance check like this:
'submode': ip access-list extended 'acl-name'
+deny tcp any any eq smtp
But that is not working, Can some one show me the 'right path'?
Thanks

When synching, itcomes up with an error message saying it can't find all the songs. When I check, library has songs listed but with a "!" bubble next to them. When I click on them they play. What am I doing wrong? This happens every time so I click them and it sorts them (boring with 200 odd). How can I prevent this?
Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match. Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch and just did the update to IOS 5. Now I can't connect to my Netgear wifi router. My iPhone connects fine along with all of my other laptops etc. I have the router set with WPA-PSK [TKIP] security and an access list. I've confirmed the mac address is included on that list and that the password is correct. Under choses netwrok I select the network and it just goes into a spin. I have tried removing the password and the access list settings and it still will not complete the connection to the router thus no internet access. The routers firmware is also up to date. This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?
Thanks Bob, I don't know why but it all of a sudden worked a few days later. It's a mystery but at least problem solved.

Hi,This morning I wanted to call, so I took my phone ( Iphone 4 S) ,but my All contacts list was empty! I checked in my computer ( windows 8) I have them in Iclould. How can I bring back my data?
Hello Noushin,
It sounds like you are unable to see your contacts in the phone, but have confirmed they are still at http://www.icloud.com. I would next try these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3998
If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Contacts app on your iOS device:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Contacts preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Contacts app.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on:
Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn Contacts off. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/contacts and on one or more of your devices. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Contacts back on.
Restart your iOS device by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and then swiping the screen when prompted to power off. Then turn your device back on. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I have a new mac pro 'can', and was checking settings. I gave a user who I didn't recognize 'no access', and lost all access to my computer immediately. Tried to change access back, but I was totally locked out (even as the admin). It won't even reboot! I thought it might have been back when I gave Adobe access (when they had their Cloud fiasco and my machine kept crashing with Premiere). Can anyone suggest anything?

Checking aaa configuration using LMS Baseline Compliance Checks
Hi, I'm trying to setup a baseline configuration check for our devices that will cover both "types" of aaa accounting commands. Some devices have the commands spread over mutliple lines and some have them in single lines as per the examples below. I can't seem to make an "or" check that will cover both types. Can anyone please assist? I am using Ciscoworks 4.2.
aaa accounting exec default
action-type start-stop
group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 0 default
action-type start-stop
group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 15 default
action-type start-stop
group tacacs+
aaa accounting connection default
action-type start-stop
group tacacs+
OR
aaa accounting commands 0 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 15 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting connection default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting exec default start-stop group tacacs+Compliance check uses the same devices as everything else in RME. However, you need to make sure your template is configured to match the specific device types that you want to check. When you define your baseline template, you must choose one or more device types. Make sure you've checked all of the appropriate boxes (e.g. Routers and Switches and Hubs).

Hellp Everyone,
I am trying to create a Access-List on my Core Switch, in which I want to allow few internet website & block the rest of them.
I want to allow the whole Intranet but few intranet websites also needs access to the internet.
Can we create such Access-List with the above requirement.
I tried to create the ACL on the switch but it blocks the whole internet access.
i want to do it for a subnet not for a specific IP.
Can someone help me in creating such access list.
Thanks in AdvanceThe exact syntax depends on your subnets and how they connect to the Internet. If you can share a simple diagram that would be much more informative.
In general just remember that access-lists are parsed from the top down and as soon as a match is found, the processing stops. So you put the most specific rules at the top. also, once you add an access-list, there is an implicit "deny any any" at the end.
The best approach is to create some network object-groups and then refer to them in your access list. From your description, that would be something like three object-groups - one for the Intranet (Intranet), one for the allowed servers that can use Internet (allowed_servers), and a third for the permitted Internet sites (allowed_sites).
You would then use them as follows:
ip access-list extended main_acl
permit any object-group intranet any
permit object-group allowed_servers object-group allowed_sites any
interface vlan
ip access-group main_acl in
More details on the syntax and examples can be found here:

Baseline Compliance Check Loopback0
I'm working on a Baseline Template for compliance. One of the interfaces that we use across all our routers is Loopback 1. I want to use a baseline template to check if Loopback 0 exists and then if it exists, I want to check certain lines in its interface config. Here is how I have my Template configured:
Prerequisite Command Set - checkLoopback
+interface Loopback1
Subordinate Command Set - checkLoopbackConfig
+description Network Management Interface
+ip address [#172\.16\..*\..*#] [255.255.255.0]
Basically I want to confirm that Loopback 1 exists and then check that the standard description has been used and that the IP Address is within a certain range.
Whether the interfrace is configured or not, when I run the compliance check it reports that the device is compliant. I've also tried "-interface Loopback1" in the Prerequisite Command Set and the result still reports the device is compliant.
How can I accomplish my goal of checking that the interface exists first then check the config of the interface?
Thanks for the help. You can use commandsets. The commandsets are a set of one or more CLI commands. You can define a commandset while creating a Baseline template in the Advanced mode.
The features of the commandsets are:
•If the commands in commandset are in a submode (ip/interface etc.) a submode command must be specified for such a commandset.
•Commandsets can have one or more child commandsets.
•Child commandsets inherit parent's sub-mode command.
You can define commandsets that have to be checked before running the actual commands.
The features of the prerequisite commandsets are:
•A commandset can have another commandset as its prerequisite.
•A prerequisite commandset is used only for comparison and is not deployed onto the device.
•A commandset is compared with the config only if its prerequisite condition is satisfied.
LMS evaluates the commandsets in different ways depending on whether you have defined the commandset as Parent or Prerequisite.
For example, assume that you have defined two commandsets, commandset1 and commandset2:
•Commandset defined as Prerequisite
- commandset1 as the Prerequisite of commandset2. When LMS evaluates the Baseline template, it evaluates commandset1 first, and commandset2 next.
- If commandset1 does not contain submode and is not present in a device, then commandset2 is not evaluated and the device is displayed in the excluded list in the compliance report.
- If commandset1 contains submode and is not present in applicable submodes, then commandset2 is not evaluated and the device is displayed in the excluded list in the compliance report.
•Commandset defined as Parent
- commandset1 as the Parent of commandset2. When LMS evaluates the Baseline template, it evaluates commandset1 first, and commandset2 next.
- If either of these commandsets is missing, the template is considered non-compliant.

I am trying to run Compliance Check and when I am try to use user defined group created on CS it's empty.(actually I have 10 groups under CS) and all all the groups I have created under CM didn't display at all. the only groups showing are a groups created under RME only. haveing say that on all other RME tools like RME job, net config job..so on I can access a user defined group created on all applications(cm,cs,rme). the only problem I have with Compliance Check. I am wondering why only with compliance check.please check the screen shoot. thanks
This does work for me locally, but I seem to recall you've had grouping issues before. Perhaps there is still a problem with the CMFOGSServer. If you cannot post the actual device details in these groups as well as the template which is triggering this, then open a TAC service request. For analysis of this kind of problem, I would need to see the CMFOGSServer.log and RMEOGSServer.log with appropriate debugging enabled. I would also need to see the OGS rules which defined the CMF groups as well as a list of devices in those groups and proof showing those same devices are managed by RME.

We can figure this standard access list
We can figure this standard access list that's important remember that we use a standard access list want to block all traffic or permit all traffic from a particular
source or destination let's take a look at this machine right here that is IP address say
640-554 we want to stop him from going into the Ethernet interface I'm the ad man he made me midsummer block callers traffic he can get out anymore maybe this is even the internet out
here we know people like their Internet access so to get back at them I'm a block it what I can do is I can use deny statement in my access list access list
one did not .
http://640-554cisco.com/Hi Suresh,
ad 1) according to the documentation ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/doc.1111/e26692/securityacls.htm#BEIIHJAH )
"At least one of the following must be true for a user to be granted a particular permission:
The user's name appears in the xClbraUserList metadata field with the appropriate permission.
The user belongs to a group that appears in the xClbraAliasList metadata field with the appropriate permission.
The user is part of an Enterprise role that appears in the xClbraRoleList metadata field with the appropriate permission."
meaning that OOTB a user will be granted both Read permission as per user-granted permissions and RWD as per group-granted permissions (resulting into RWD because at the same level a union operation is used).
I'd say that conceptually, the group assignment should not be used in your use-case, because you don't want to assign permissions to group's users, do you? You could create new groups, or use assignment of permissions per user.
ad 2) check this: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/doc.1111/e26692/securityacls.htm#BEIIDCGD
Using ACLs, regardless User or Group Access Lists, always impacts the performance. And, it is difficult to maintain. From the information at the link you may understand how it is implemented - basically, the execution of the query will be affected by: a) how many items have to be evaluated b) the length of strings (xClbraUserList, xClbraAliasList) to be evaluated.
