Loading a .wft file into the database

I have saved my workflow process into a .wft file. I would like to send this file to another person for them to load the process etc into their database. If I open the file, copy the contents of the file (looks like it is some script) into a word document and they then paste those contents into notepad and save the notepad as a .wft file and then upload into the database would this work out? The reason I am asking this question is because, I cannot send them the attachment, but need to write up the contents in a word document.
Thanks

Yes you can do that.

• How to load a XML file into the database

Hi,
I've always only loaded data into the database by using SQL-Loader and the data format was Excel or ASCII
Now I have to load a XML.
How can I do?
The company where I work has Oracle vers. 8i (don't laugh, please)
Thanks in advance!

• Performance problems loading an XML file into oracle database

Hello ODI Guru's,
I am trying to load and XML file into the database after doing simple business validations. But the interface takes hours to complete.
1. The XML files are large in size >200 Mb. We have an XSD file for the schema definition instead of a DTD.
2. We used the external database feature for loading these files in database.
The following configuration was used in the XML Data Server:
jdbc:snps:xml?f=D:\CustomerMasterData1\CustomerMasterInitialLoad1.xml&d=D:\CustomerMasterData1\CustomerMasterInitialLoad1.xsd&re=initialLoad&s=CM&db_props=oracle&ro=true
3. Now we reverse engineer the XML files and created models using ODI Designer
4. Similar thing was done for the target i.e. an Oracle database table as well.
5. Next we created a simple interface with one-to-one mapping from the XSD schema to the Oracle database table and executed the interface. This execution takes more than one hour to complete.
6. We are running ODI client on Windows XP Professional SP2.
7. The Oracle database server(Oracle 10g 10.2.0.3) for the target schema as well as the ODI master and work repositories are on the same machine.
8. I tried changing the following properties but it is not making much visible difference:
use_prepared_statements=Y
use_batch_update=Y
batch_update_size=510
commit_periodically=Y
num_inserts_before_commit=30000
I have another problem that when I set batch_update_size to value greater that 510 I get the following error:
java.sql.SQLException: class org.xml.sax.SAXException
class java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException said -32413
at com.sunopsis.jdbc.driver.xml.v.a(v.java)
The main concern is why should the interface taking so long to execute.
Please send suggestions to resolve the problem.
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
Nikunj

Approximately how many rows are you trying to insert?
One of the techniques which I found improved performance for this scenario was to extract from the xml to a flat file, then to use SQL*LOADER or external tables to load the data into Oracle.

• How to import an .csv file into the database?

and can we code the program in JSP to import the.csv file into the database.

It is better to use Java class to read the CSV file and store the contents in the database.
You can use JSP to upload the CSV file to the server if you want, but don't use it to perform database operations.
JSPs are good for displaying information on the front-end, and for displaying HTML forms, there are other technologies more suitable for the middle layer, back end and the database layer.
So break you application into
1) Front end - JSPs to display input html forms and to display data retrieved from the database.
2) Middle layer - Servlets and JavaBeans to interact with JSPs. The code that reads the CSV file to parse it's contents should be a Java Class in the middle layer. It makes use of Java File I/O
3) Database layer - Connects to the database using JDBC (Java Database Connectivity), and then writes to the database with SQL insert statements.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keeping the above concepts in mind, first build a simple JSP and get it to work,
then research on Google , for Java File I/O , discover how to read a file,
Then search on how to readh a CSV file using Java.
After researching you should be able to read the CSV file line by line and store each line inside a Collection.
Then research on Google, on how to write to the database using JDBC
Write a simple program that inserts something to a dummy table in the database.
Then, read the data stored in the Collection, and write insert statements for each records in the collection.
• Loading an XML file into the table without creating a directory .
Hi,
I wanted to load an XML file into a table column . But I should not create a directory in the server and placing the XML file there and giving the path in the insert query. Can anybody help me here?
Thanks in advance.
You could write a java stored procedure that retrieves the file into a clob. Wrap that in a function call and use it in your insert statement.
This solution require read privileges granted by sys and is therefore only feasible if the top-level directory/directories are known or you get read-access to everything.
Hi everyone!
The following are the steps to load a excell sheet to oracle table.i tried to be as simple as possible.
thanks
Step # 1
Prapare a data file (excel sheet) that would be uploaded to oracle table.
"Save As" a excel sheet to ".csv" (comma seperated values) format.
Then save as to " .dat " file.
e.g datafile.bat
1,Category Wise Consumption Summary,Expected Receipts Report
2,Category Wise Receipts Summary,Forecast Detail Report
3,Current Stock List Category Wise,Forecast rule listing
4,Daily Production Report,Freight carrier listing
5,Daily Transactions Report,Inventory Value Report
Step # 2
Prapare a control file that define the data file to be loaded ,columns seperation value,name and type of the table columns to which data is to be loaded.The control file extension should be " .ctl " !
e.g i want to load the data into tasks table ,from the datafile.dat file and having controlfile.ctl control file.
SQL> desc tasks;
Name Null? Type
TASK_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(14)
TASK_NAME VARCHAR2(120)
TASK_CODE VARCHAR2(120)
: controlfile.ctl
LOAD DATA
INFILE 'e:\datafile.dat'
INTO TABLE tasks
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
(TASK_ID INTEGER EXTERNAL,
TASK_NAME CHAR,
TASK_CODE CHAR)
The above is the structure for a control file.
Step # 3
the final step is to give the sqlldr command to execute the process.
sqlldr userid=scott/tiger@abc control=e:\controlfile.ctl log=e:\logfile.log
• Can I combine two methods of code to load various SWF files into the same location
I presently have a set up where a large SWF file brought on the stage by clicking small icons from the scrollable thumbnail menu on the bottom of the stage. All of it happens at the same frame with .xml loading file.
Here is the code for constructing the ImageLoader(for thumbnails) and SWFLoader for (bigger SWF files)
function _xmlCompleteHandler(event:LoaderEvent):void {
       _slides = [];
       var xml:XML = event.target.content; //the XMLLoader's "content" is the XML that was loaded.
       var imageList:XMLList = xml.image; //In the XML, we have <image /> nodes with all the info we need.
       //loop through each <image /> node and create a Slide object for each.
       for each (var image:XML in imageList) {
        _slides.push( new Slide(image.@name,
              image.@description,
              new ImageLoader("loadingAssets/appThumbnails/slideshow_image scroller greenSock_mine/assets/thumbnails/appThmb_imgs/" + image.@name + ".jpg",
                   name:image.@name + "Thumb",
                   width:_THUMB_WIDTH,
                   height:_THUMB_HEIGHT,
                   //centerRegistration:true,//messes up the code as places SWFLoader in the upper left corner which is 0,0 coordinates
                   //x:260, y:320,//doesn't work here but works in line 69
                   scaleMode:"proportionalInside",
                   bgColor:0x000000,
                   estimatedBytes:13000,
                   onFail:_imageFailHandler}),
              new SWFLoader("loadingAssets/appThumbnails/slideshow_image scroller greenSock_mine/assets/images/" + image.@name + ".swf",
                    name:image.@name + "Image",
                    width:_IMAGE_WIDTH,
                    height:_IMAGE_HEIGHT,
                    //centerRegistration:true,//messes up the code as places SWFLoader in the upper left corner which is 0,0 coordinates
                    x:0, y:144,
                    scaleMode:"proportionalInside",
                    bgColor:0x000000,
                    estimatedBytes:820000,
                    onFail:_imageFailHandler})
Here is what I would like to resolve. I have another section on the site with an image collage. Every image is a button. I want to script this each image on click to go to the label with ImageLoader and SWFLoader AND TO OPEN A UNIQUE SWF (ASSOCIATED WITH AN IMAGE CLICKED) ON THAT PAGE
Previously this is what I did to achieve it. I would specify a String:
var sourceVar_ProductsPopUps:String;
and then all my buttons will have their unique SWF assigned for them which opens at another labeled section ("prdctsPopUps" in this example):
function onClickSumix1PopUp(event:MouseEvent):void {
      sourceVar_ProductsPopUps="prdcts_popups/sumix1-popup_tl.swf";
      gotoAndPlay("prdctsPopUps");
Then in the "prdctsPopUps" section I would specify that var string to bring up SWF files. The value of sourceVar_ProductsPopUps allows to load mulitple SWFs from the previous page.
loaderProductPopUps = new SWFLoader(sourceVar_ProductsPopUps,
But I need both of them to be working at the same time. First there is a sectionA from where a user can navigate to specifically targeted SWF to section B's SWFLoader. Then in the section B a user has an option to bring up other SWF files into SWFLoader from the scrollable thumbs menu. Is there a way to combine these two lines into one:
new SWFLoader("loadingAssets/appThumbnails/slideshow_image scroller greenSock_mine/assets/images/" + image.@name + ".swf",
and
new SWFLoader(sourceVar_ProductsPopUps,
Thanks for looking into my issue.
Unfortunatelly I am not so advanced in AS and do not complitely understand the logic of the problem. I will try to decribe my set up more precise.
So, my main flash file is broken into labeled sections on the main time line.
One of the sections is "Applications" It has an animated collage of images. Each image acts as a button and once clicked brings a user to a section called "ApplicationsPopUps".
"ApplicationsPopUps" section has small image thumbnails scroll menu at the bottom of the screen and a large SWFLoader in the middle of the screen. User can click on an image in the thumbnails scroll menu and a corresponding SWF file will load in the middle of the screen in SWFLoader. User can click on left/right navigation buttons and preceeding/following SWF file will load in SWFLoader.
Everything works fine (with your previous help)
Here is the working code for the ImageLoader and SWFLoader (please let me know if you need additional code on the page):
function _xmlCompleteHandler(event:LoaderEvent):void {        _slides = [];       var xml:XML = event.target.content; //the XMLLoader's "content" is the XML that was loaded.        var imageList:XMLList = xml.image; //In the XML, we have  nodes with all the info we need.        //loop through each  node and create a Slide object for each.       for each (var image:XML in imageList) {         _slides.push( new Slide(image.@name,               image.@description,               new ImageLoader("loadingAssets/appThumbnails/slideshow_image scroller greenSock_mine/assets/thumbnails/appThmb_imgs/" + image.@name + ".jpg",               {                    name:image.@name + "Thumb",                    width:_THUMB_WIDTH,                    height:_THUMB_HEIGHT,                    //centerRegistration:true,//messes up the code as places SWFLoader in the upper left corner which is 0,0 coordinates                    //x:260, y:320,//doesn't work here but works in line 69                   scaleMode:"proportionalInside",                    bgColor:0x000000,                    estimatedBytes:13000,                    onFail:_imageFailHandler}),                 new SWFLoader("loadingAssets/appThumbnails/slideshow_image scroller greenSock_mine/assets/images/" + image.@name + ".swf",                   {                     name:image.@name + "Image",                     width:_IMAGE_WIDTH,                     height:_IMAGE_HEIGHT,                     //centerRegistration:true,//messes up the code as places SWFLoader in the upper left corner which is 0,0 coordinates                   x:0, y:144,                     scaleMode:"proportionalInside",                     bgColor:0x000000,                     estimatedBytes:820000,                     onFail:_imageFailHandler})
Thumbnails in the section "ApplicationsPopUps" and images in the image collage in the section "Applications" represent the same photographs. So when a user clicks on one of the images in "Applications" section it would be natural that that image will load in the "ApplicationsPopUps" section. However "ApplicationsPopUps" section presently has a working code (as sampled above) It looks too complex for me and I do not know hot to implement this feature. I do want to keep the functionality of the thumbs image scroller in section "ApplicationsPopUps" as it is now. But I want to add that when a user click on an image from section"Applications" then that particular SWF file will load in SWFLoader in section "ApplicationsPopUps" and then the present functionality can as well be exectuted. Presently it just opens on a first image in xml order.
P.S. I see that you had a download link in your answer. How did you do it? I could also upload a small sample file with my problem. This way you could see all the set up right away.
• Load XML file into oracle database
Hi
i have a xml file and the XSD(Schema definition file for XML). i need to load the xml file into the database.
Can you please tell me the best approach for this ?
There are plenty of examples of this on the XML DB Forum.
Here is a link to the FAQ for that forum...
• Load word document file into database
Hello,
Kindly tell me how do i load word document file into my database.
you can use BLOB columns to store the word document in the database
But not sure how are you trying to load (i.e what is your application front end)
Oracle Forms, Java etc.
so based on that specific solution can be given.
• Loading class oracle/jpub/runtime/dbws/DbwsProxy into the database
I am trying to create a Database Web Services call-out in PL/SQL, however, encountered error "ORA-29540: class oracle/jpub/runtime/dbws/DbwsProxy does not exist". I followed some steps to load utl_dbws.jar, utl_dbws_jserver.jar and dbwsclient.jar into the database, but still getting the same error saying DbwsProxy class does not exist. This is very frustrating and I do not know how to fix this. I tried to just load DbwsProxy.class into the database and it executed successfully, however, the database is still complaining that oracle/jpub/runtime/dbws/DbwsProxy does not exist. Does anyone has any idea what's going on? Thanks much. I am cracking my brain out here.
This is the error message I received when loading:
The following operations failed
class java/lang/NumberFormatException: creation (createFailed)
class java/lang/Number: creation (createFailed)
class java/lang/Object: creation (createFailed)
class java/lang/String: creation (createFailed)
class java/lang/Long: creation (createFailed)
This is the error message I received in the database after loading dbwsclient.jar:
i am trying to load an XML file into Oracle database using SSIS 2005. the XML file is huge with 4000+ columns and also has many sub catogoreys. if i try to load the file using XSD it is taking lot of space to read the entire file upto 10GB even if the data row in the file is only one. I am only loading 60 columns out of the 4000+ columns. please provide me any alternatives that you can think of.
I think Oracle's support for loading XML data to relational tables could be improved. I haven't found a scalable solution for very large XML files that doesn't involve breaking the file up into little parts or writing / copying a good bit of code.XML DB provides two efficient ways to load XML data relationally :
- Object-Relational storage and FTP : the file is send to the XDB repository and inserted into the default XMLType table declared during schema registration. The underlying storage structures (collections, nested tables) are loaded directly while the data source is read.
Then it's just a matter of building views over the XMLType table to present the data relationally.
We can process several GBs with this method.
- Binary XML and streaming XPath evaluation : binary XML is a post-parsed format which is optimized for streaming processing, it's available since 11.1 and now the default starting with 11.2.0.2.
and you are supposed to parse the whole thing and return any errors before actually doing anything.That's the DOM view of things.
XML DB doesn't use DOM when documents are first stored as XMLType (binary or OR storage), or when it does, for example if a functional evaluation of XQuery is required, then a "lazy DOM" model is used where only the needed part(s) of the XML is (are) retrieved.
• Insert a large file into a Database?
I have the following situation and am unsure of the best solution.
I have to do an update on a record within an MS SQL Server database, adding files that are potentially 50mb plus in size.
Basically I would like to read this file into the database bit by bit so as not to get OutOfMemoryExceptions thrown whilst attempting to load a large file into memory.
Is there a way I can open the file and read x number of bytes at a time into the database, say with the FileInputStream.read(byte[]) in a while loop.
My preference would be to save the path of the file to the Database, but the requirements state the file has to be stored within a Database!
My problem is I am not sure if the preparedStatement.setBinaryStream() will work the way I would like.
I think this:
preparedStatement.setBinaryStream( 1, in.read(), 50000);
will just read the whole file into memory and error with OutOfMemoryException. Or will it read in a byte at a time?
I would like to Do Something like:
byte[] data = new byte[1024];
preparedStatement.setBinaryStream( 1,
while((eof = in.read(data)) != -1), 50000);
which obviously will not work, but I hope you get what I would like to try and do.
Put in words "pass small portions of the file from the Disk through JDBC into the database till the End Of File is reached".
Thanks for the response in advance.
