Loading different sized pictures into loader
Hi all,
I've got a problem....I've created a photo gallery in flash 8
using a loader component but I'm using photos of different sizes.So
I had to size the loader to all possible photo sizes but then the
pictures tend to load all over the place within the loader
component!
Anybody would know how to get the photos to load centered in
the loader component or maybe another way like loading them into a
movie clip?

I've never used a loader component and in general stay away
from all components.
It is very easy to use the MovieClipLoader class to write
your own loader. You can then put code in the onLoadInit event
handler to handle the resizing/centering of your external files.
The trick, if you are resizing and reusing the same movieclip
to load into. Is to first reset the _xscale and _yscale to 100,
before you try and measure the size of the clip and therefore
figure out how much it needs to scale.
Perhaps if you want to stick with the component there is a
similar trick? I just don't know.
If you want to use the MCL – a really good thing to
learn in any event – post back. Of course you should read the
help file first and then post back! :)

As far as I know, Bridge will not enlarge small images. If you hit '+' on fullscreen preview, it zooms in, but keeps the same zoom for every image.

I just loaded some July pictures into my PC iCloud photos upload folder, but I do not see them with my iPad. Are they not shared because they are past the 30 day window, or is there a different issue?
Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go. -

There are a different ways to do this:
- Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot. This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream.
- Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll. This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll (if you choose to send them as Actual Size) and upload to photo stream.
- Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once. Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll. These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream. (You need an App like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream). -
Hi. After loading a picture into Photoshop some of the menu tools are greyed out and I cannot use the keyboard short cuts, for instance I cannot use Ctrl + T for free transform, how do I resolve this problem. In addition the tool Icons are so small I have to get close to the screen to see them, is there anyway the Icons can be made bigger without reducing the resolution of the screen.

DerekAre you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger. -
just installed PS 13 elements and loaded pictures into organizer. after using PS editor now organizer is not reloading. I keep getting error message saying organizer unexpectedly quit, do you want to reopen. When I click on it to reopen it doesn't and I get the same message again. I rebooted computer, still did it, I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and I am still getting the same error message. This is on Mac OS with yosemite. Any Ideas Please!!!

On Adobe's web site it states the trial version has all functionality. FAQ, common questions & answers | Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 "These trial versions are fully functional, so every feature and aspect of the product is available for you to test-drive. Product trials can easily be converted for unrestricted use without the necessity to reinstall the software in most cases."
However, I cannot load pictures into the photomerge panorama window either from' browse' or 'add open files'. When I select either way nothing happens.This happens if I enter panorama from photo editor and/or organizer.
Can anybody enlighten me about this?

BarryIt seems your Samba is denying access to these files & dirs. My best guess would be that either the Samba user is not allowed to write (and read) those (in which case you'd have to modify the permissions accordingly) or Samba sets, when the share is mounted, the permissions such that your user is not allowed to read and write (you may in this case try to just set permissions for you to allow you what you want to do; or use "create mask" or "directory mask" or "writable" in your samba config. ).
Also, what do the logs say about this? According to your samba conf they are in /var/log/samba/%m.log where %m is the hostname or IP. -

When I add pictures into MUSE , do the pictures resize for web quality (And so the page loads fast enough) or do I have to do this using an external software like photoshop, etc. ?

I have over 100 contact forms and i want to make them reach the same email anyway I can do that without going one by one?If you have placed the image in Muse using File > Place and then scaled the image down in Muse while editing, then Muse publishes/exports the scaled down/optimized image in final output. When using as a Fill, the output size depends on the Fitting option you setup in the Fill options.
As for the contact form email, you would need to specify the email address for each form individually. There is no workflow to edit the same for multiple forms at a time.

my boss gave me a tricky task and I dont know how to solve the problem without some help. It's about putting lots of different pictures into different pdf-files together. May be you have some ideas how to succeed. Please excuse my german-laced english.
My task is to merge (or put together) about 4-5 pictures into one pdf. the problem: i have 4.000 pictures. the advantage: the pictures that i have to merge are named pretty similar, it looks like:
ab_pictures 1
ab_pictures 2
ab_pictures 3
ab_pictures 4
ab_pictures 5
cd_pictures 1
cd_pictures 2
cd_pictures 3
cd_pictures 4
ef_pictu...etc.
i have to merge ab-picuteres 1-5 to one pdf called "ab_pictures 1", cd_pictures to one pdf called "cd_pictures 1"...
because there are so many picture-groups that i have to merge i was wondering if there is a possibility to automate this task by just telling the programm once what it has to, so it can do it without me sitting next to it, telling it each time what it should do next.
this would safe me a lot (!) of time. Here at my working place there is adobe acrobat reader 9 running, there is also distiller available (I dont know what this appclication is used for).
my question: is it possible to "programm" acrobat that i could do such a task automatically? Or do I have to buy other programms (may be a database-programm or something like that) to be able to it?

How can I divide a picture into 2 (or more) irregular shapes (i.e., free-hand cropping)?
(The answer to this question might apply to different versions &/or products, so my version -- Photoshop Elements 2 -- may be irrelevant.)
I need to "cut" a JPG photo into two (or more) irregular shapes, for a graphics project I need in my work.
I'd then want to save each shape as a separate JPG, for manipulating separately.
Can I do this with Photoshop Elements? If so, how and with which tool? The "cutting" should be free-form, so being limited to straight lines would not be a full solution.
I guess this is a kind of "cropping"--though maybe there's a better term, since this doesn't involve selecting a rectangular area within a picture.

If so here is one way using Elements 2 (maybe newer versions have ways of doing this more easily).<br /><br />In this example I cut the picture into 3 parts using the Lasso.<br />1. Select part 1.<br />2. Select > Save Selection: give the selection a name (e.g., part 1).<br />3. Copy/paste selection to new layer (Layer 1 in my example).<br />4. Activate Background layer.<br />5. Select > Reselect, and invert the selection.<br />7. Holding down <Alt>, use Lasso to delete all but part 2.<br />8. Select > Save Selection: give the selection a name (e.g., part 2).<br />9. Copy/paste selection to new layer (Layer 2 in example).<br />10. Activate Background layer.<br />11. Select > Reselect.<br />12. Select > Load Selection: In the Selection pull-down menu choose part 1 and check the "Add to Selection" box. The selection will now consist of parts 1 & 2.<br />13. Invert the selection to give part 3 and copy/paste to new layer (Layer 3 in example).<br /><br />The 3 pieces are in separate layers with transparent background. How to paste pictures into email account signature. I cannot get the pic to be visible. I have an iPhone 6 Plus
I think I got it to working, IMbatman13folllowing the directions from that thread.
I created a signature on my laptop. Included a png in it.
Sent an email with that signature to myself on my iPhone. I did not put a message in the body.
Opened it up on iPhone. Selected entire 'body'. Copied all.
Went into Settings, Signatures, Selected a different email account, pasted in what I had copied.
And it worked. -
How to Sort Pictures Into Events in iPhoto
Hi,
I have different events listed in my iPhoto based on the dates that I imported the pictures. I'm trying to sort the pictures into specific events but I keep having problems. I've tried flagging the pictures and then the adding flagged photos to selected events, or to selecting multiple events and then dragging and dropping the pictures, and cuting pictures from one event to another event and pasting them. The problem with all of these is that they keep bringing other pictures with them. So say I'm trying to take 10 photos from the Winter Photos event and put them into the Summer Photos event, I end up getting something like 18 that move with them -- and these additional 8 aren't selected, they tend to be ones in between the first and last of the 10 that I selected. When selecting multiples, I either flag them or use the command + click option. So I'm selecting pictures 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, and 10 from Winter Photos, and 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 get moved. Is there any way to avoid this?
I know that I could use the Albums instead of Events, but I like the Events option much better -- it's in the library and it's easier to view them all together that way. If I can move some pictures, I should be able to move them without ones getting moved accidentally. This also happens even if I just move one picture at a time, through any of these ways.
I've also checked the discussion board and there's nothing that specifically addresses the issue of photos getting accidentally moved that I could find.

LaurenAnyt chance that you have the "additional" photos flagged - before adding flagged photos to selected event click on the flagged photos in the source pane on the left - verfy what is flagged and then select an event and add to selected event - are only the correct photos added?
And personally I suggest albums since with albums you can build a tree structure using folders - events only offer a flat orginazation

HI. I would like to arrange over 30 pictures into one grid-like ARRANGEMENT. (meaning above, below, left, right, of each other and so forth to form a rectangle)

One method is to actually start with the PSE contact sheet tool. I assume your version has it (mine is PSE 2). Maybe your version has an option to remove spaces; mine doesn't. In this example I created a sheet of 4 rows and 3 columns, with the option to not flatten the layers. Each picture appears on a separate layer.
On each row I moved the left and right pics inward to remove the spaces between the pics:
Activate the Move tool. Click on the left pic and use the arrow keys to move it inward. Same with the right pic.
Now to remove the spaces between the rows. To make this easier. lock together the pics on each row. Here I locked the pics on the top row, then used the arrow keys to move the row as a unit downward. An alternative method would be to merge the 3 pics on each row and move that merged layer. Do the same for the remaining rows.
This method works of course if the pictures are all the same size and all aligned vertical or horizontal.
If you don't want to use the contact sheet tool (e.g., if the pics are different sizes or alignment) you can do this:
Create a blank canvas.
Open a picture, select it (Select > All) and copy to the clipboard (Edit > Copy).
Activate the blank canvas and Edit > Paste. The picture will be placed on its own layer.
Do the same with the remaining pics and use the Move tool with mouse and/or arrow keys to position them where you want.
The advantage of the first method is that the rows and columns are precisely aligned. Using the mouse to align the pictures could be a little tricky. -
Can any one tell me how can I move to a different folder pictures, that I've cloned, without them staying aggregated? They all come together to the other folder and I don't want that… thanks
There's more to it than that.
Folders in Aperture do not hold Images. They hold Projects and Albums. You cannot put an Image in a Folder without putting it in a Project or an Album inside that Folder.
The relationship between Projects and Images is special: every Image must in a Project, and can be in only one Project.
Images can be in as many Albums you want. Putting an Image in an Album does not move it from the Project that holds it.
You can make as many Versions from a Master as you want.
What you want to do may appear simple to you, but it still much adhere to how Aperture works. I still can't tell exactly what you are trying to do (specifically: Images don't live in Folders; moving an Image from a Folder is non-sensical).
It can be very confusing (and frustrating) to get going with Aperture -- but it does work, and can be enormously helpful. If you haven't, take a look at the video tutorials on Apple's Aperture support site.
I feel as though I haven't helped you much -- but we need to be using the same names for interface items in order to get anything done -- and my sense is that you still haven't learned the names of the parts.
