Loading Oracle on linux HELP me please

I using Red hat Kernel 2.4.21
I completed all the pre step to run Oracle.
I did su - oracle
./runInstaller
I able to get the runInstaller to run,
but the Installer said it must have Root privilegies,
I am using /u01/app/oracle
I checked
the dir u01 is:
drwxrwxr-x root root
the dir app is:
drwxrwxr-x oracle oinstall
the dir oracle is:
-rwx------- oracle oinstall

Do the following command
ls -altr ./runInstaller
If as I suspect its root root
then it may be that you have expanded / copied the files to your hard disc using your root privileges.
If you have the original media you could run the runInstaller command from there or you could try issuing a chown oracle:oinstall runInstaller. This may not work either if all the other files relating to the Oracle Installer have the wrong permissions.

    Hi,
    - Do you install Oracle VM Server (OVS) on an emulated environment like Oracle VM VirtualBox ? if yes so you can't do it.
    - Don't forget to configure the Virtual Machines Network and also to add this network to this Virtual Machine.
    I hope this can help you

  • Loading content from XML help needed, please.

    Hey All,
    So here's my deal- I have a custom-built FLV Playback
    component (with captions) and need to load the following items from
    an XML file named "xml_doc.xml":
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <playlist id="Here's The Video" >
    <vid desc="Introduction to Biological Terrorism Agents"
    src="Intro.flv"
    thumb="Intro.jpg"
    caption="Intro.xml"
    </playlist>
    On the stage, here's what things are named:
    -my FLVPlayback Component is named myVideo
    -my thumbnail/preview image (empty movie clip) is named
    myPoster
    -my FLVPlaybackCaptioning Component is named captioning
    So how do I get these things to all get read from the XML
    document? It's easy to do it all through the FLA and hard-code the
    paths, but I can't seem to figure out how to pull from the external
    XML doc.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Joe

    You'll need to instantiate a few classes to help with this.
    The first is URLRequest:
    --var myXMLRequest:URLRequest = new
    URLRequest("xml_doc.xml");
    The URLRequest gets loaded by a URLLoader:
    --var myXMLLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    Then use the .load() method of the URLLoader:
    --myXMLLoader.load(myXMLRequest)
    Then add an event listener to your URLLoader
    --myXMLLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, dataLoaded);
    Finally create the function to work with your data
    --function dataLoaded(e:Event):void {
    --var myXML:XML = new XML(e.target.data);
    --trace(myXML);
    Looks like:
    --var myXMLRequest:URLRequest = new
    URLRequest("xml_doc.xml");
    --var myXMLLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    --myXMLLoader.load(myXMLRequest)
    --myXMLLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, dataLoaded);
    --function dataLoaded(e:Event):void {
    --var myXML:XML = new XML(e.target.data);
    --trace(myXML);
    (remove dashses, they're for readability)

    Nice idea. Applies for me as well.
    Anyway, if you'd like to use the Oracle Support for the Linux, I would not mix the rpm distributions.
    Another note about the versions, if they are newer in the distribution, then use them. Works for me quite well.

    Most likely, the OCI libraries could not be loaded.
    Before continuing down this path, is there any reason
    why you want to use an OCI based Driver as opposed to the
    all Java Oracle thin driver ?There is indeed a valid reason for my choice.
    I am currently connecting to the Oracle "Rdb" 7.0 database (located on
    VMS) - not Oracle Oracle.
    The SQL Service software we're currently using is version 7.1. This
    version works well with the OCI8 driver (when connecting to the
    database from Windows NT). This version of SQL Service however does
    NOT work for the THIN driver (unless we upgrade the SQL Service to
    version 7.1.5.5 - which we're not prepared to do so because it is not
    stable enough from our previous test/trials). SQLSRV Version 7.1.5.5
    works for THIN driver but it will result in uncommitted
    transactions/unresolved connection/stopping of listener issues and
    there is a need to restart the service from time to time. Oracle has
    since confirmed that this is a bug that they have yet to resolve...
    So we have to stick to OCI8 (THICK) for the time being. I would really
    appreciate it very much if you can tell me the various OCI libraries
    that I need to load (in terms of WebLogic Server config file settings
    etc..).
    By the way I have already installed the Oracle 8 client software on
    the NT server (where WebLogic Server is) and I have also set up the
    relevant SID (using the Net8 Assistant) that points to the Oracle Rdb
    database on the VMS. I have also tried using SQL*Plus to connect to
    the database and I can connect properly to the database. But WebLogic
    simply doesn't seem to load the software.
    Help...

    In my macbook pro 5,2 snow leopard (10.6.8), Finder taking long time to load contents of any directory. Please help?
    I have already tried to spotlight re-indexing but it did not help. I am hardly able to work on it, almost for each directory I browse its keeps on spinning for 1min.

    Download iTunes from Apple's web site and install it.  Don't use Software Update.

  • Initial load of Leopard not enough RAM - locks everything - HELP ME PLEASE

    I am given options: "OK" or "Restart" - I have tried both options with no success. At this point I just want to eject the installation disc, but everything is locked. I tried turning off and back on about 15 times, it always just starts the load process from the beginning and repeats the same message: "This computer does not have enough RAM. For Mac OS X system requirements, see the "Read before you install" document on your Mac OS X installation disc. Choose: OK or Restart.
    Please help me, PLEASE!!! Thank you very much.

    What about trying a PRAM reset for the blue screen thingy ??
    "PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
    Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
    Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys."
    And what about using TARGET MODE, if you have another mac, to install Snow.

    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

    Try a reset, press and hold both the home and power buttons for 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.
