Location reports_path variable

Hi all,
we are using reports 11g and need to change the reports_path
we have done this before in a file that also contained tns_admin=
but can't find this anymore
does anyone know the name of this file ? (and I don't mean rwserver.conf, the file we changed was not an xml file)
we are using windows 2008

Location of variable and function names in SWF bytecode?

Ok, so I'm looking at the specification PDF for v10 of a SWF file.
Here is a link to it: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/swf/pdf/swf_file_format_spec_v10.pdf
I can't find anything in there about where or how a SWF stores variable and function names in the bytecode, though SWF decompilers can find them in any SWF file. So they must be in there somewhere.
Can any one help me on this one?

Hi check the varaibles by giving ur tech.name of report input parameter to the below program,
RSRQ_QUERYDEFINITION
it will all the query details. So you can find ur varaibles where it is used exactly.

Can someone please tell me the steps to set up reports_path in em reports.sh. Also, is there a way to configure in em rwserver.conf.

From the reports.sh file you asked i conclude you are using Linux, so reports.sh is located at ORACLE_INSTANCE/bin.
Just localize REPORTS_PATH variable and append the new path to it.

Front Panel Mass Binding Project Variables Issue

Hello -
When attempting to bind controls to shared variables through the front panel mass binding option, there is an issue where you can not seem to bind a "project item" to the control. The method of binding I am using is to export a text list of control names, urls, mode, and function to a text editor utilizing the front panel binding mass configuration options. The text editor shows, in the fourth column, a "0" for no function, a "1" for network item, and a "2" for project item. when attempting to import the list back into the front panel binding mass configuration, all "2" indications become "1", as all items are treated as network. Thus one can not effectively bind to a project shared variable item.
The binding works fine manually by means of utilizing the properties selection of the control, but it is difficult to do this for 821 controls, as in my application.
My application is based on a OPC served group of 821 variables which are linked to controls and indicators through the shared variable representation for each item created in the multiple variable editor.
Does anyone have a work around for this issue, as it is a showstopper right now, ie, you can not effectively bind a large quantity of controls or indicators to project located shared variables as required.
The rationale behind utilizing project located variables instead of network located variables is to reduce the amount of calls to the OPC server which was causnig a large latency in the refresh of the 821 items. With the items defined as shared variables within the project, a single call is issued, which has tremendously sped up the refresh cycle for the list of variables.

-- a great deal of information was provided to NI (Efosa and many, many others, up to the product manager for the DCS module). I have never heard back on a fix for this bug for the identified version of LabVIEW. The reply by Efosa here was well after we had shipped our product -- (please see date + Efosa's apology) -- we had found our own solution as is identified in the original post.
My solution was, as is also indicated in my original post, to manually bind each variable. This was unbelievably time consuming, but was all I had.
The version of software I am now working on uses far less variables, manually bound to avoid the multiple binding issue we had in the past.
I have checked the mass binding function in LV 8.5.1, it works fine now. I guess it would have been nice to have had a reply that the bug had been resolved ---- would have helped me out a bit.

In the first example program (Controlling OPC Servers with the OPC Automation API in Visual Basic) that you should get when searching for "opc" in the example programs database, look for the line with this code: "browser.GetItemID(leaf)". There you can see the way the program creates an OPCBrowser from the server instance, and then gets the servers available items for use by the client. This sounds like the specific information you are looking for with the variable name.

How to use a characteristic value variable in a formula?

Hi all,
I have created a characteristic value variable (manual input) for 0CALDAY in a query to get the Start & End date. There is requirement in the report to display a KF showing the duration between Start & End Date.
I have tried to create a Formula Variable with Replacement Path, Ref Char 0CALDAY. In the Replacement Rule, there is an option to Replace Variable With variable. However, I wasn't able to locate the variable I have created for user input.
Any idea how to achieve this?

if you have the start and end dates as user entry then follow this
1) create a formula variable with reference char as start date of the type customer exit
2) create another formula with end date as reference char of type customer exit
3) in the cmod write the code your logic should be in such a way the the value at the user entry should be passed on to this formula variable the same for end date code
4) create a formula with ( start date formula variable - end date formula variable)
you can use this code

Substitute variables for external process activity in process flows

Has anyone used with success substitute variables such as ${Working.Rootpath} for external process activity?
I can't get it working. Variables aren't substituted and my scripts fail.
Sample value for parameter_list parameter for external process I use is:
|${Working.Rootpath}|
and in the script I get:
${Working.Rootpath}
which is of course not what I expected.

In documentation is Working.Rootpath so there is a bug in documentation. It is ugly because it's hard to guess.
Thank's for your reply Michael. I checked all that you described. Previously I had Working location set to "Use default location". When I changed it to actual location substitute variables started to work properly.
If I correctly understand "Use default location" means: use location associated with process module. And for execution it works but for substitute variables doesn't. So I think it is a bug.
Next thing is variables in the script itself. From examples sent by Mark (script: cd ${Working.RootPath}...) they should be set in environment and accessible to shell. This doesn't work for me but it is not described in documentation and can be easily achieved by passing parameters. So that's not a problem.
One more question: Should I open tars and file bugs describing what we found?

Code (ABAP) for the Customer Exit Variable (CMOD)

Scenario
An employee can purchase any no of policies in a day or month.each policy will have start date and expiry date.
My requirment
Count all the policies(valid) by employee on a ranges basis exception reporting
(0-10;10-20;20-30;30-40) and then able to drill down by policy start date and expiry date.
As per the requirment is to show policies that employee had with in the give date intreval which are not yet expired (active) i need to write a condition that will count only policies whose Expiry date is > Current calender day
As Policy Expiry Date is a char i am converting it to KF using fourmala variable so that i can write a condition on it using current cal day formula variable sap exit

Configure REPORTS_PATH in Reports11g

Hi,
I'd like to know how to configure the REPORTS_PATH variable for Reports 11g from the Enterprise Manager, i know how to configure it with the reports.sh file, but i'd like to know how to do it from Enterprise Manager since it's the "recommended way".
I have been looking in the basic and advance configuration but can't find the option. :)

Variable Highlighter Extension JDev 10.1.3

Hello all,
I could not locate a Variable Highlighter extension which would work in JDev 10.1.3 so I decided to go ahead and make the necessary adjustments to the Original work of Simeon Zverinski (http://varhigh.sourceforge.net/).
The version I have now works under JDeveloper 10.1.3 without problems. Since I know there have been people requesting this extension be updated, I am willing to offer my work back to the community.
I am not familiar with the Copyright that Mr. Zverinski has over this code, and I do not want to burn in IP hell so I am now trying to contact him to see if my changes can be made public and available to you.

Using pipelined functions with bind variables in Apex...

I have a table which has about 10 million records and it is hanging up the system when it is trying to retrieve the data from that table... so what I have done is I created a pripelined
function and then trying to retrieve data using an SQL statement ... when I try to use a bind variable to filter by the date and location it is binding according to the location
but not by date ... can anyone help me in this please!!

The MEJ is a julian date and I am trying to convert it into a date ..... using the function jdate! and the pipelined function is created without any errors
and I am able to get the data with correct branch location bind variable but only problem is it is not binding the date filters in the sql.....

Is there an easier way to create a local variable?

I want to create a local variable, but I don't wont to have to find the terminal first and then use the option create-local variable. Is there a way to make a copy of an existing local variable? If I use the CTRL-C and CTRL-V option another terminal is created too.

Truly global variables?

Hi,
Is it possible to have truley universal variables, so that you can define it in one class, and can be used in all the other classes in that program.
You see i'm having big problems using the MVC layout for my program. The controller contains all the components with which the user interacts with i.e. buttons etc. In my program, which is a game of some type, to start with the user enters their info into a textfield (therefore the information is passed into the controller class). But how is this info then passed onto the model class to manipulate it, and then onto the view class which diplays it?! I have an observer / observable for this flow from model to view, but i can't believe you use this for all the flow between the three classes as this would get very complicated.
Also my view class creates an image which the user can interact with i.e. click on. The mouseHandler to deal with these events is an inner class of the view class. Now when the user clicks on the map, some information is updated - so it needs to be sent back to the model class!!!
Please help me because i'm having big problems trying to understand how the information flows between the MVC classes in this architecture.

Is it possible to have truley universal variables, so that you can define it in one class, and can be used in all the other classes in that program.If you are into MVC architecture, then that is probably not a good idea. A constant is okay, and you'll see examples of that all over the place that look like "static public final int MAX_DIMENSIONS = 3". But for a variable, you need to decide which of the components is responsible for this variable, and locate the variable within that component. If you need to pass it from the model to the controller, say, you can pass it via a method parameter or via an event you have defined.
Sometimes it isn't easy to decide who should be in charge of a particular piece of information, and often you'll make the wrong decision at first. But there are some things that will tell you you decided wrong. For example, if you find you always need to pass a certain piece of information with every communication from the model to the view, that would suggest that maybe the view should be in charge of that piece of information. You just have to start doing things; you'll have to redesign eventually but that's just part of the learning process.

First you should not include the whole path to your report in the call ...
Use like this:
/ora/u01/oracle/v101/as2/bin/rwrun.sh report=an_stati destype=file desname=/ora/u01/oracle/v101/as2/test.pdf desformat=pdf
In $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh:
1) Verify that you have updated the REPORTS_PATH variable to include your folder where you have the report in question
REPORTS_PATH=/ora/u20/app/qits/env1/run:$ORACLE_HOME/reports/templates:$ORACLE_HOME/reports/samples/demo: ....
2) Verify that the REPORTS_TMP variable is pointing to a valid location and that the oracle user has access to write on it.
After that, post the content of the tracefile located at $ORACLE_HOME/reports/logs/{in-process report server name folder}/rwserver.trc
If no file is present then it means that you need to enable trace in your reports's conf file.... go to the $ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf folder and and locate the .conf file that correspond to your in-process reports server name (as specified in the rwservelet.properties file)... open/edit the file to enable trace logs ..
i.e.
Change the following line:

to <trace traceOpts="trace_all"/>
Bounce the reports server and try to run the report again, this time the .trc file should be generated, post the content so that we can take a look.
