LOGICAL DATABASE - DYNAMIC FIELDS - ALWAYS DISPLAYED...
Is there any way to always display a field from the dynamic selection fields list ?
regards,
best wishes for 2009
Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. However, there is no title bar method that we can modify to remove the buttons. I have created a Z report Category by copying the existing one and made the modifications.
In that we can hide/display UI elements which are displayed by Logical Database.

Sort+logical database using field group and extract
Hi Folks,
I have a program which is using Logical database concept and creating a file on application server as below.
SORT BY
reguh-zbukr "Zahlender Buchungskreis

PERFORM temse_schreiben USING daten.
ELSE.
TRANSFER daten TO g_name.
ENDIF.
ENDFORM.
Is Sorting concept different when it comes to logical databases and field groups ?
I had added a new field in the sort reguh-rzawe.I think due to that it is getting into AT NEW UBNKL and AT NEW UBKNT even though those details are same for the payment methods in the payment run.Even though the house bank number and account number is same for all the payment methods it is getting into AT NEW UBNKL and AT NEW UBKNT for every new payment method in the iteration.

K.Kiran.Read the documentation for the at-new process. As I recall the at-new considers the field named, and all the fields to the left of that in the table. With that in mind, look at how your logic will work. This could result in more, or fewer, breaks than intended(fewer if, for instance, a field to the left was deleted).

Hi All, I am quite familiar with Logical Databases but I need to understand the following.
1) I am using LDB ADA, but I want to use my own Selection Screen and not the default one that the LDB provides. I know I must put something in AT SELECTION-SCREEN but am unsure what.
2) Once I get the data, I want to store the data in an internal table - how do I go about doing this? If you can provide a code example that would be great.
Points for any relevant help.Hi,
A logical database is a special ABAP/4 program which combines the contents of certain database tables. You can link a logical database to an ABAP/4 report program as an attribute. The logical database then supplies the report program with a set of hierarchically structured table lines which can be taken from different database tables.
Logical database structures
There are three defining entities in an SAP logical database. You must be clear on all three in order to create and use one.
Table structure: Your logical database includes data from specified tables in SAP. There is a hierarchy among these tables defined by their foreign keys (all known to SAP), and you are going to define a customized relationship between select tables. This structure is unique and must be defined and saved.
Data selection: You may not want or need every item in the referenced tables that contributes to your customized database. There is a selection screen that permits you to pick and choose.
Database access programming: Once youve defined your logical database, SAP will generate the access subroutines needed to pull the data in the way you want it pulled.
Creating your own logical database
Heres a step-by-step guide:
1) Call up transaction SLDB (or transaction SE36). The path you want is Tools | ABAP Workbench | Development | Programming Environment | Logical Databases. This screen is called Logical Database Builder.
2) Enter an appropriate name in the logical database name field. You have three options on this screen: Create, Display, and Change. Choose Create.
3) Youll be prompted for a short text description of your new logical database. Enter one. Youll then be prompted to specify a development class.
4) Specify a root node, or a parent table, as the basis of your logical database structure. You can now place subsequent tables under the root table as needed to assemble the data object you want. You can access this tree from this point forward, to add additional tables, by selecting that root node and following the path Edit | Node | Create. Once youve saved the structure you define in this step, the system will generate the programming necessary to access your logical database. The best part is you dont have to write a single line of code.
Noted point is we cant add any selection criteria thru our se38 program if you are attaching any LDB to program.Ist of no use.
If you want to change selection criteria to the existing LDB, you have to goto SE36 tcode and provide LDB name and choose "Change" mode by selecting "Selections" Radio button.
declaration of params is different compared to normal se38 program in some aspects.
PARAMETERS :p_curr LIKE bkpf-waers FOR TABLE bkpf OBLIGATORY.
this BKPF table should be one of the node in the "Structure" Radio button.
Thanks

Steps to create LOGICAL DATABASE in sap
hi guys,
i have gone through many documents about LDB. But, i didnt get the steps to create a LDB.
plz provide me with the steps to be followed to create a LDB.
thnx,

This might help you!

Creating your own logical database
ABAP/4 (Advanced Business Application Programming language, version 4) is the language created by SAP for implementation and customization of its R/3 system. ABAP/4 comes loaded with many predefined logical databases that can construct and table just about any conventional business objects you might need in any canned SAP application. However, you can also create your own logical databases to construct any custom objects you care to define, as your application requires in ABAP/4. Hereu2019s a step-by-step guide:
1. Call up transaction SLDB (or transaction SE36). The path you want is Tools | ABAP Workbench | Development | Programming Environment | Logical Databases. This screen is called Logical Database Builder.
2. Enter an appropriate name in the logical database name field. You have three options on this screen: Create, Display, and Change. Choose Create.
3. Youu2019ll be prompted for a short text description of your new logical database. Enter one. Youu2019ll then be prompted to specify a development class.
4. Now comes the fun part! You must specify a root node, or a parent table, as the basis of your logical database structure. You can now place subsequent tables under the root table as needed to assemble the data object you want. You can access this tree from this point forward, to add additional tables, by selecting that root node and following the path Edit | Node | Create. Once youu2019ve saved the structure you define in this step, the system will generate the programming necessary to access your logical database. The best part is you donu2019t have to write a single line of code.
Watch out!
The use of very large tables will degrade the performance of a logical database, so be aware of that trade-off. Remember that some tables in SAP are very complex, so they will be problematic in any user-defined logical database.
Declaring a logical database
Hereu2019s another surprising feature of logical databases: You do not assign them in your ABAP/4 Code. Instead, the system requires that you specify logical databases as attributes. So when you are creating a report, have your logical database identifier (the name you gave it) on hand when you are defining its attributes on the Program Attributes screen. The Attributes section of the screen (the lower half) will include a Logical database field, where you can declare your logical database.
Logical databases for increasing efficiency
Why else would you want to create a logical database? Consider that the logical databases already available to you begin with a root node and proceed downward from there. If the data object you wish to construct consists of items that are all below the root node, you can use an existing logical database program to extract the data, then trim away what you donu2019t want using SELECT statementsu2014or you can increase the speed of the logical database program considerably by redefining the logical database for your object and starting with a table down in the chain. Either way, youu2019ll eliminate a great deal of overhead.
Reward if useful.

Regarding Logical database and select statement..
Hi
Experts.
i would like to know the diff b/w logical data base & select statement while using report.
wt is the use of logical databases in R/3. is there any advantage used in the reports.
Thanks & Regards..
Spandana.Dear Spandana,
Go through the below description of LDB. I hope you wil get a fair amount of idea.
SAP comes loaded with all the extras. Among the extras that are most helpful to IT managers are all the access routines needed to pull any business object that managers can think of out of SAP databases. However, SAP has not thought of everything where your particular applications are concerned. SAP organizes its standard database tables to service business units based on conventional business applications. Itu2019s likely your business requires something new, perhaps even something exotic. In that case, you will need to create a new database, using information from different places. Basically, you need a logical database. You need to create a virtual business data object repository consisting of a new kind of record or table that suits your purposes. In addition, the repository should be composed of information that is actually stored in a number of different locations, none of them necessarily logically associated with one another. Letu2019s take a closer look at creating logical databases.
A case for a logical database
Suppose my company manufactures widgets of the most obscure variety, and they are components of other widgets. I sell my widgets as raw material for the more sophisticated widgets built by others, but in some cases I actually partner with other manufacturers in creating yet another class of widget. Now, in my world, I consequently have customers who are also partners. I sell to them and I partner with them in manufacturing and distribution. Also, I need an application that uses both of these dual-use relationships.
Essentially, I have a customer database and a partner database. Neither contains records that are structured to contain the identifying particulars of the other. Thus, I need a hybrid database that gives me tables detailing these hybrid relationships. What can I do? I can go the long way around and write a new database, pulling information from both and creating new objects with a customized program that I write by hand. However, this process is cumbersome and contains maintenance issues. On the other hand, I can use SAPu2019s logical database facility, create my logical database in a couple of minutes, and have no maintenance issues at all.

Logical databases are programs that read data from database tables and pass it to other programs for processing. The order of reading the database tables is determined by a hierarchy.
Many tables in the R/3 System are linked using foreign key relationships. Parts of these relationships form tree-like hierarchical structures. Logical databases allow you to read data easily from database tables that form parts of these structures
Retrieving Data Using a Logical Database:
GET EVENT
This is the most important event for executable programs that use a logical database. It occurs when the logical database has read a line from the node <table> and made it available to the program in the work area declared using the statement NODES <table>.
When you define the corresponding event block in the program, you can specify a field list if the logical database supports field selection for this node:
GET <table> http://FIELDS <f1> <f 2>....
Transation is se36
check this simple example..
REPORT Z_LDB_DEMO.
NODES: SPFLI, SFLIGHT, SBOOK.
START-OF-SELECTION.
WRITE 'Test Program for GET'.
GET SPFLI.
SKIP.
WRITE: / 'From:', SPFLI-CITYFROM,
'TO :', SPFLI-CITYTO.
GET SFLIGHT.
SKIP.
WRITE: / 'Carrid:', SFLIGHT-CARRID,
'Connid:', SFLIGHT-CONNID.
ULINE.
GET SBOOK.
WRITE: / 'Fldate:', SFLIGHT-FLDATE,
'Bookid:', SBOOK-BOOKID,
'Luggweight', SBOOK-LUGGWEIGHT.

Exclude one field from Logical Database's dynamic selection screen
Hi Guru,
I have a requirement to amend a program to exclude the document number field (bsik-belnr) from the dynamic selection-screen of the logical database KDF(Vendor Database) so that the program will not filter according to the document number.
I have use the below syntax in my zprogram.
selection-screen exclude select-options: doc-no.
However I get syntax error "The addition EXCLUDE is only allowed in INCLUDE DBKDFSEL".
Please advice.
Best Regards,
FungThe selection part of the logical database defines input fields for selecting data.
The runtime environment displays these on the selection screen when you run an executable program linked to the logical database.
Include called DB<ldbname>SEL.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF VERSION ver TEXT-xxx.
SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE ... .
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF VERSION ver.
Defines a selection screen version (with a three-character name ver ). Between BEGIN OF VERSION and END OF VERSION , you can exclude selection screen objects for the version ver , i.e. remove them from the selection screen with SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE.
SELECTION-SCREEN DYNAMIC SELECTIONS FOR TABLE dbtab
If one of these tables is active in the report (i.e. it is declared under TABLES or lies somewhere on the path from the root of the database hierarchy to a table declared with TABLES ), a pushbutton called 'Dynamic selections' appears on the selection screen. -
HR Logical database PNP. OO to fill table dynamic table from PNP ?
Hi all
I want to get some stuff from the HR logical database into a dynamic table
Here's a real simple example that writes info out to a normal list.
(report is based on using Logical DB PNP)
tables: pernr.
INFOTYPES: 0001, "Organizational Assignment
0002. "Personal Data
SELECT-OPTIONS: language FOR p0002-sprsl.
INITIALIZATION.
pnptimed = 'D'.
GET pernr.
PROVIDE * FROM p0002 BETWEEN pn-begda AND pn-endda.
CHECK language.
WRITE: / p0002-pernr,
sy-vline,
p0001-ename,
sy-vline,
p0002-sprsl,
sy-vline,
p0002-gbdat.
ENDPROVIDE.
endform.
Now what I want to do is replace the write stuff by appending the entries into a dynamic table which I will display as an ALV Grid.
so I add my structure in the data declarations
types: begin of s_elements,
pernr type p0002-pernr,
ename type p0001-ename,
sprsl type p0002-sprsl,
gbdat type p0002-gbdat.
drop_down_handle type int4.
types: end of s_elements.
include zz_jimbo_incl.
build the dynamic table
create data dref type s_elements.
assign dref->* to <fs>.
i_routine = 'POPULATE_DYNAMIC_ITAB'.*
i_names = 'NAME_COLUMNS'.
i_gridtitle = 'HR TEST'.
invoker = sy-repid.
i_zebra = 'X '.
i_edit = ' '.
call function 'ZZ_CALL_SCREEN'
exporting
invoker = invoker
my_line = <fs>
i_gridtitle = i_gridtitle
i_edit = i_edit
i_zebra = i_zebra
i_names = i_names
i_routine = i_routine
importing
z_object = z_object
dy_table = dy_table.
Now to populate the dynamic Itab the routine below is entered.
form populate_dynamic_itab changing dy_table.
assign dy_table->* to <dyn_table>.
create data dy_line like line of <dyn_table>.
assign dy_line->* to <dyn_wa>.
However I can't use GET / PROVIDE / ENDPROVIDE in a Form.
Anyway round this ---seems HR has an aversion to OO.
Cheers
jimboHi,
well, GET_PERNR is a so called event_statement. It has nothing to do with ABAP 00.
Normally it will be like this:
START-OF-SELECTION.
GET_PERNR.
PROVIDE ....
END-OF-SELECTION.
-> and here the CALL SCREEN NNNN for ALV-Display.
Provide-statements you can use in forms of course, and as many times you want during GET and END-OF-SELECTION.
But as I understood : you just want to save the write-statements?
I always develop a DDIC-Structure, declarate the data objects in the programm, read the data via Provide into the infotypes, and then make a move-corresponding to my structure. and display it.
Normally no problem.
kind regards

Adding a dynamic selection to a logical database query
Hello,
I would like to add a dynamic selection to a SQ02 Infoset using logical database SDF. I need the report to show only documents created at certain dates. I've added a selection field "CR_DATE" for BKPF-CPUDT to the Infoset and added the following code:
SELECT * FROM BKPF
WHERE BKPF-CPUDT IN CR_DATE.
ENDSELECT.
However, the report displays documents created on all kinds of dates regardless of the ones I've specified at the selection screen.
I can only use SQ02 and SQ01. I don't have access to most other transactions such as SE36 nor have the authorization to edit the existing report transaction such as FAGLL03.
Please, help.Hi John,
Only certain table fields are allowed in dynamic selection, please see this sap note for detail :
Sap Note 310886 - Line items: Dynamic selections ignored
Permitted tables:
SKA1: all fields
SKB1: all fields
BSIS: all fields
So BKPF-CPUDT field is not allowed for dynamic selection.

How do I hide the display of empty dynamic fields in a PHP query
I need help, I've spent the whole day on this, and I'm not getting any further.
I am creating a simple blog, where articles can be added via a form in dreamweaver that uploads data to a mysql database.
I have the following fields in the database:
"title", "text", "image" "link" (and datestamp)
The text, image and link fields can be left blank, so I have set their attribute to NULL, i.e. can be NULL
to display this data, I have created a page and added a recordset that reads as follows:
SELECT niklas.`date`, niklas.title, niklas.text, niklas.image, niklas.link
FROM niklas
the problem is some of the articles will only have text, some will have text and image, some only image.
When I view the page, it shows me the images that are there, but when there is no image in that particular record, the page shows a blue question mark instead.
What i want to do, is show only what is not null
I cannot use the WHERE command, as this completley omits an entire record, if the one field is empty.
Another problem I have is the link, as these are added through the form, and then stored in the mysql database, how do I display them dynamically so that they are active links to external web pages?
I'm very new to this, and rather a slow learner, so simple help is really needed!
please please help!! I'm really struggling and have deadlines fast approaching!
Thank you in advance!
xxxDetermine the condition of the data where it's displayed on the page using if/else. Here's an example for the thumbnail:
<?php
// Show IF thumbnail is NULL
if ($row_profile['thumbnail'] == "") {
?>
<img src="image_not_found.gif" alt="No Profile Image Available">
<?php
// else show the thumbnail
} else { ?>
<img src="<?php echo $row_profile['thumbnail']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_profile['thumbnail']; ?>">
<?php }
// end if thumbnail is present
?>
Do the same technique for any area that may or may not have data.
Create a dynamic link like this:
<a href="<?php echo $row_profile['website']; ?>"><?php echo $row_profile['thumbnail']; ?></a> -
How can we display dynamic fields from a XML CLOB?
Jdeveloper Version : 11.1.1.4.0 (11g)
We are calling a database package.procedure from a page VO and it returns a result set. The result set is mainly a XML CLOB. Within XML CLOB, we have various sections which we need to parse and display those on JSF page. Couple of sections within XML are having dynamic fields which means the number of fields returned under that section may change depending upon data conditions. We need to find technical way of displaying those dynamic fields (field name and its data – both are part of XML).
Please suggest how can this be achieved.

Im using pnp logical database in my report.

How its possible. Give me some solution.
Thanks,
Priya.how about if u do this step
1. Goto- Attribute.
2. Click "Change"
3. Click 'HR Report Category'
4. Click 'Create Report Category'
5. Click 'new entries' for careating Report Category
5. Select newly create report category
6. Click the folder 'Definition of Organizational Selection'.
7. Click 'New entries'.
8. Here you assign the required fields to be displayed, for eg pywerks - personal area.
9. finally assign this newly created 'report category' in the screen you will get upon clicking 'HR report Category' button in the Program attribute screen.

Better alternative to header lines, use of logical database, field-symbols
Hello experts,
I am wondering if theres a better and faster alternative than declaring a header line for an itab. are work areas faster?
What is the use of logical database? can you please give me an example on how to use it in reports.
how do I use field-symbols? I am confused on how it works.
P.S. I recently installed SAP netweaver preview abap edition
in my home PC and I am wondering if I could practice BDC, user exits, etc. If so, how?
Again, thanks for all your help since I'm kinda new to ABAP.I always use this...It uses header lines, but at least is smaller -:)
<b>DATA: BEGIN OF MY_TAB TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF BKPF WITH HEADER LINE.</b>
For logical databases, you can check my blog...I always use LDB for HR programs -:)
<a href="/people/alvaro.tejadagalindo/blog/2006/02/19/how-to-deal-with-hr-payroll-reports:///people/alvaro.tejadagalindo/blog/2006/02/19/how-to-deal-with-hr-payroll-reports
LDB's provides a lot of information, because they gather it from a lot of different tables...
A Field-Symbols is like a pointer in C++, like an alias for a variable...Here's a small example...
REPORT Z_ATG_DUMMY.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <F1>, <F2> TYPE I.
DATA: TEXT(20) TYPE C VALUE 'Hello, how are you?',
NUM TYPE I VALUE 5,
BEGIN OF LINE1,
COL1 TYPE F VALUE '1.1e+10',
COL2 TYPE I VALUE '1234',
END OF LINE1,
LINE2 LIKE LINE1.
ASSIGN TEXT TO <F1>.
ASSIGN NUM TO <F2>.
DESCRIBE FIELD <F1> LENGTH <F2>.
TEXT = 'CHAU'.
WRITE: / <F1>, 'has length', NUM.
WRITE: / TEXT, 'has length', NUM.
ASSIGN LINE1 TO <F1>.
ASSIGN LINE2-COL2 TO <F2>.
MOVE <F1> TO LINE2.
ASSIGN 'LINE2-COL2 =' TO <F1>.
I just can't install SAPNWSP...I only got MiniSap...But I got all the development enviorment...Don't know about the User-Exits...Actually I don't think so...Because those "mini" systems doesn't come with any functional module.

How to hide selection fields when using logical database PNP
hi.
i m using a logical database PNP and report catagory 1PY_DEF in my program.
but when i execute it , it shows to selection box. one name is period and second is selections.
but i just want to show only period box selection fields , not the selection box fields.
how it iz possible.HI,
In my case i haved used the PNP logical database..in the selection box i don't wnat to display Contorling area,Cost Center & Organizational Unit. i have written this code to hide those fields..
AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.
LOOP AT SCREEN.
IF screen-name CS 'PNPKOKRS' OR
screen-name CS 'PNPKOSTL' OR
screen-name CS 'PNPORGEH'.
screen-active = '0'.
screen-invisible = '1'.
MODIFY SCREEN.
CLEAR screen.
ENDIF.
ENDLOOP.
Try modify hide the total block instead of individual fields in that block.
