Logo replaced with "No items found" after testing a form submission

I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that Business Catalyst is written by the programmers, for the programmers, to be primarily used by the BC programmers to set up the initial web sites for end users and once everything is customized, the end user /site owner can then update product pages and other content, without knowing any code. IMHO, it was not written for Web designers who know how to build static web sites, but who also need added functionality.
Moreover, I thought the propose of BC was to build a professional looking and properly performing interactive web sites without knowing any coding. Even with knowing HTML, CSS, and some Javascript, it is one confusing mess, that does not perform as advertised, IN MY OPINION. You not only have to thoroughly understand how BC does things, and I seriously doubt that a custom site could be effectively built without knowing programming, or at least a working knowledge of Javascript, which most web designers have not mastered. Javascript is NOT easy, but neither is Business Catalyst.
Even the sample starter sites do not function smoothly, and the BC Manage site interface is NOT intuitive, so unless you want a web site that basically looks and functions just like one of the templates, you're out of luck. Maybe someone on this forum can explain how, and why, my header logo got 'replaced' with the words, "No items found"? All I did was attempt to set up a module form and then tested it. Next I was unable to log into the site with any accounts that I had set up as a User and/or member for testing purposes, which worked just fine before then.
I have just spent the better part of the last two-three week trying to figure out how to use Business Catalyst and slightly modify one of the provided BC sites to meet my needs. No such luck. I am a long time Adobe customer and have spent thousands of dollars on Adobe Software over the last ten plus years, but BC is a LOOSER. I'm NOT a stupid person, and have designed some nice responsive HTML5 web sites, but Business Catalyst has thrown me for a loop, even though I have tried diligently to figure out how all the pieces fit and work together, to little avail.
Why doesn't Adobe provide some programming help (for a reasonable programming fee) instead of forcing us to go with the independent BC programmers/site designers who do know how to make it work, but they charge the big bucks to do so? I had one BC site designer tell me that web sites cost $10,000 - $15,000. (and that was for a BC site) which I thought was quite unreasonable until you consider how few people truly know how to use BC well enough to customize a web site, and then you have to need a site very similar to the one already created. There in an inherent lack of simple functionality, and customization, for sites that are not retail product sites.
Frankly, I am very disappointed, frustrated, and now looking for a programmer to build a straightforward interactive site for my modest needs. Who cares about all those reports if you can't get the site to function properly, and are unable to troubleshoot the problems when everything is hidden in content holders with no access, and no list of all the modules that are even being used on the site I was last trying to modify.  The Announcement module was not to be found anywhere, except in the code that somehow managed to switch out the site logo in the header with search results. Doubt if I could duplicate the problem if I tried.
BC is too complex on the backend, and doesn't make much common sense on the front management end. It tries to be all things to all retail selling sites, but all those functions, bells & whistles aren't much good if a user can't get the site off the ground.
At the very least, give us access to the all the modules uses on the sample sites (not al are available within the site management), the module names, and a brief description of what they do and how to access them when they are nowhere found in the module templates directory. And would someone PLEASE write some decent directions for using the management interface, instead of glibly showing how easy it is to do this or that, without any coding, but also without any real walk-throughs of exactly how to do something specific.
My apology to EVERYONE on this forum for my venting and rant out of sheer frustration ( and deadlines that are not being met) and I do NOT fault the forum moderator for NOT POSTING my thoughts, but I do hope this message, written in utter frustration, is FORWARDED to someone at Adobe who needs to know the truth of the matter regarding Business Catalyst, from at least my own VERY BAD USER EXPERIENCE, thus far,  spent trying to get results creating a simple interactive web site using Business Catalyst.
I'm guessing some of you are frustrated and struggling as well. I wish you the best and every success in using Business Catalyst. Typically I am patient, and will keep on trying... but only to a point, at which it's time for me to move on to plan C, because the real 'help' I need is with all the little stuff that doesn't work and tutorials are definitely lacking unless you have that same problem or are trying to duplicate what is being explained - I've tried BG Gurus videos, Lynda.com training, and other Youtube BC resources.

the need for both a "testing" and "remote" server for the site and that the information in the 'add server form' needed to be correct.
You do not need both, you only need the the server that you want to use. I have a test site that I only use locally, so that is the server that I have setup, thus no remote server.
how many ftp addresses can I expect to have!

    If it still doesn't work after you move the script then you might need to update your script to the following:

    All I did was wrap the if statement in an $.each() function so that it does this to each instance of your web app item list. 
    Also, you should probably change your variable for "alternate_page_html" to "/prog-dates-alternate-content" so that this would work on pages that are in a folder in your site.  Without the "/" this might only work on pages that are on the first-level of your site. If you tried this on a page at "/about/contact" then your get request without the "/" would be trying to get "/about/prog-dates-alternate-content" which doesn't exist.

  • SoCo - Replace with Catalog Item SC: CATALOGID field not updated

    We are in SRM 7.0 and ECC 6 Classic Scenario
    In our PDP business scenario, PReq's from ECC goes to SoCo and we replace some requirements with Catalog Item. The issue for our compliance reporting the SC
    table:BBP_PDIGP
    field: CATALOGID
    is not getting updated.
    Do we need a BADI to this work or this is a bug?

    Any changes you made to the SC in sourcing cockpit will not be saved to the SC tables. This is standard SRM behavior. You may have to write a code in custom programi to save the data back to SC table.

  • Prerendert mp4 replace with RAW DNG in After Effects

    Hello,
    I try to replace a mp4 clip with RAW DNG. The mp4 clip was made from the RAW DNG, but when I try to replace it, the length of the clip never fits.
    Details:
    1. RAW DNG recorded with 30fps
    2. RAW DNG with Media Encoder to 30 fps mp4 rendered
    3. mp4 import to AE
    4. Replace mp4 with RAW DNG
    Result:
    mp4 clip length = 08:19:12
    DNG RAW length = 06:39:04
    The info window shows bith clips with 30fps .
    Both clips shows: 0000000-0011973 (frame count from dng raw )
    All Settings on 30fps:
    Media Encoder: "Media / Indeterminate Media Timebase: 30fps"
    After Effetcs: "Import / Sequence Footage 30 fps"
    Premiere. " Media / Indeterminate Media Timebase: 30fps" (just in case  - maybe encoder reference pp..i dont think so..but..)
    What can I do? Im doing something wrong, or is it a software error?
    Even if I dont replace, just import the raw dng to AE it show the shorter lenght, but as well 30fps in the info window.

    I did a testfile.
    I exported a clip (30fps) to png sequence (60fps) and add it to the media encoder and when I press the button "match source" Media Encoder shows me (again) 23,976fps, but when I manually put it on 30fps it really export with 30fps. So I have a mp4 with 30fps
    So I import that mp4 to AE its 03:29, when I import the pngs itself directly to AE its 03:29. So my setting seems to be correct. I choose the same settings importing RAW DNG.
    I recognize that Media Encoder doesn`t recognize that the RAW DNG is a picture sequence, in the import window the "import sequenze square" is grey out, but it imports it as a the picture sequence, but not with the correct fps.
    Its confusing, because it shows in the the clip info, after rendering the correct fps (30fps), but its not 30fps , its more like 23,976 frames. So it really looks that its a adobe software error.
    Is it?

    I have A problem with PO pronting form.  In the PO craetion(me23n), IF we mention certain text in last line item the PO printing form is behaving uncertanly.
    If the text limit to a particular line is mentioned , then PO printing in only first  Page and otherpage is not printing where further data is supposed to print.
    If we exceed the limt , its again printing correctly in 2 pages with all the data. If we decrese the limit aslo printing fine.
    My problem  is , I could not understand exactly where the problem is coming. while debugging Befor the text apperas in form I have an inlcue like this form.
    INCLUDE &T166P-TXNAM& OBJECT &T166P-TDOBJECT& ID &T166P-TDID& LANGUAGE &EKKO-SPRAS& PARAGRAPH IX.
    IS the prob exist here?

    Hi,
         Header Long texts will be different from Line items long text, i think you are passing the long text for line items, so check how the long text is coming in debugger of the sapscript for each line item.
    Look at the Text Element ITEM_TEXT in the Main window of the sapscript. It has the INCLUDE which holds the text you are talking.

  • Problem with setting item instances on a tabuler form

    I have a tabular form (6i) with a control block that displays 10 (non-database) records at a time. In cases where less than 10 records are displayed, I want to (programmatically) prevent the user from entering any values in the unpopulated text item instances but still be able to enter values in the populated instances. Anyone have any ideas?

    Below is some updated code. I initially have set the insert_allowed property at the block and item level to "NO" in the property palette for the text items in this block. The number of records displayed is set to 10. The below code runs fine and populates the tabular items in the block and changes the visual attribute in the populated items to blue as designed. However, the insert_allowed is not changed for the populated item instances-- or even the unpopulated item instances for that matter. I set the insert_allowed property to "NO" at the block and item levels initially so that if the cursor populates fewer than 10 rows in the instances, the remaining unpopulated instances will not be insertable-- only the populated ones will be insertable. I am nearly at my wits end with this...ha ha. Let me know what you all think.

But when the user confirms these values (presses update on the freight form) the addition of the invoice does not proceed, even though BubbleEvent is set to true.

  • Replace No items found. with Liquid

    I have several webapps which do not have content yet. I want to replace the "No items found." message with a different message. I know you can do it with javascript but can you do it with liquid?
    I tried this:

    What Adam posted is neater Lynda, but it is even simpler then that too. You can just say if there are items or not
    Do not forget you got hideEmptyMessage="true" for a start to suppress what BC outputs and it is a simple matter of..

    As elmer pointed out a bug report has been filed to get the logo replaced with this release, and no, you can't pick a different logo for each core. Bootup will show as many logos as the kernel detects cores and/or CPUs.

    The portal flattens those lists, so sadly this is normal behaviour. I would assume it sorts the list according to ordinal which means you may be able to atleast get a list in the correct order. 
    ex. Ordinal in paranthesis
    1. Hardware (1)
    1.1 Printers (3)
    2. Software (2)
    2.1 Windows (4)
    I would expect this list to be flattened into
    Hardware
    Software
    Printers
    Windows
    You see? In order to edit ordinal you would have to edit the list manually in XML. Tons of ressources on how to do that.

  • The alias can't be opened because the original item can't be found - After USB Flash Drive transfer

    I've seen a couple of threads about this message, but none dealing with my simple issue:
    I get this message: "The alias can't be opened because the original item can't be found" -- AFTER TRANSFERRING THE FILE IN QUESTION VIA FLASH DRIVE.
    I thought, maybe the "original item" hadn't been completely copied from the drive, so I tried opening the file again this time with the drive still plugged into the laptop--but again, the message came up and I couldn't open it.
    What's the deal?
    The files I'm transferring:
    a 1.2GB MKV file of a movie I downloaded, which I had no trouble viewing on my desktop
    a 105MB application
    (btw, the application is called "VLC", which is a file playing app that works on my desktop, and I want it on my laptop so that I can play movie files like .mkv, which is the other file I'm transferring...but that doesn't make any difference, I think. No, I can't just download the movie and the app right onto the laptop...I don't have wifi right now...='[...)

    I had been dragging straight from the desktop into the USB window. Eventually, I opened up finder and went to Desktop there, and when I dragged the files from there into the USB window, it worked. Now it took a while to move the files into the USB, which was a sign that they were actually being moved.

  • "Replace with After Effects composition" in PP CS6 causes crash in AE CS6

    Hello,
    When I right click on a movie-file in a Premiere Pro seqence and choose "Replace with After Effects composition" AF starts, it asks me what I want the file name to be, "save" this and go on. I can see the interface for a short while, then it crashes and closes. In PP I get the error "The importer reported a generic error"
    I have the latest versions of both PP and AE, downloaded from Creative Cloud.
    What can I do to solve this?
    By the way - when clicking on an audio track, "Edit in Audition" is greyed out... Problems with Dynamic link?

    I have now tried what you told me (and some more), without any success;
    - Cleared all the files in the named folders
    - reinstalled After Effects
    - deactivated and reactivated the suite
    Every time I try to:
    - right click a video file in PP and choose "replace with...."
    - copies a video file and pastes into AE...
    AE crashes.
    When I copy into AE it works until I drag the clip to "New composition", then it crashes.
    Hopefully you, or anyone else, have more suggestions. I really need some rain on this clip...:)
    UPDATE:
    I have now tested with other footage, An MPEG-clip from my Sony (.m2ts) - this works well, both when I copy and paste, and when I use the "Replace..." within PP. The clip can be played in timeline without any problems.
    Using the "Replace..." also works well "back in" PP - the effects are there when switching to PP.
    However - when I add an XDCAM-HD 422 Movie (.MXF) file to this project it is ok, I can scratch (is that the correct english for using the mouse to "browse" the file in timeline?) this file in a comp, but as soon as I press "spacebar" to make it play "by itself", AE crashes.

  • Premiere pro CC " Replace With After Effect Composition" Cinema DNG AKA CDNG  Issue

    I am trying to right click on a cinema dng file and do a "replace" with After Effects Composition. When doing so it only brings in a single frame rather than the entire adjusted video clip. Does anyone know a solution or workaround? Is Adobe aware of this problem? Will they continue to support Cinema DNG files? or should we lean to another NLE? Please advise adobe.

    After some testing, it looks to be an After Effects issue.  The Replace command did open up AE, create a new project, import the segment of the clip I wanted, and created a proper composition with the correct duration.  It even opened up the Camera Raw adjustment panel for me to play around in.  The problem was that every frame of that 1 second long clip was identical, it was the first frame of the whole clip.
    When I went into the Media Browser and opened up the same clip from the hard drive, it too opened up as the whole clip seeing only that first frame.
    When I imported using a right click>Import command (exactly what we shouldn't be doing in PP with tapeless media), the clip came in properly with all frames.
    So AE is acting weird with CinemaDNG files, it seems.  You may have to start out in AE and DL from there to PP.

    I don't know if there is a better way, but i make my color corection in after effects with Color Finesse and i use this command: right click on clip and "replace with after effects composition" - that a good way but, the problem is when i wanna to undo this and to bring back my old clip from an AE Composition.

    it works fi i use "undo" command, but after i save the project, and restart premiere, that command is gone.
    my question: what can I do to bring back my old video?

    You can try to go to one of the autosave versions and see if you can bring it back that way (if the history is cleared)...
    Seems a little extreme
    If you still have the original source audio in your sequence, as your example shows, park the CTI at the beginning of clip instance and target just the audio track (i.e. deselect the video track). Hit the M key to match frame the original master clip, hit I to mark an in point, and then hold down the Alt key and drag the Video Only button from the Source Monitor to the AE comp item. The AE comp will be replaced with the original video and linked to the audio.
    The upshot of all this is that, unless you make a duplicate before using the "Replace" command or undo immediately after doing so, there is no direct way to get back to the original footage.
