Long LOV for a report region attribute

I have an updateable report based on a SQL Query with a few attributes in it. One of the attributes is an id referencing another table (a foreign key). I would like to display a descriptive name from the referenced table in place of the id and provide a LOV to choose from when updating or creating a record.
'Select List (named LOV)' or 'Select List (query based LOV)' Tabular Form Element would do it nicely, but the problem is that the LOV is very long (hundreds of records). 'Popup LOV' (either named or query based) is perfect in terms of selection, but it returns the id into the element. So effectively I am looking for an element with functionality of 'Select List', but presentation of 'Popup LOV'.
Hope the above is query. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you for a quick answer, Michelle.
Unfortunately this option is not available in the 'Display As' list in the 'Tabular Form Element' section of the attribute definition screen. Here is the full list of the options:
<ul>
<li>Standard Report Column</li>
<li>Display as Text (displayed as LOV, does not save state)</li>
<li>Display as Text (saves state)</li>
<li>Display as Text (escape special characters, does not save state)</li>
<li>Date Picker</li>
<li>Text Field</li>
<li>Text Area</li>
<li>Select List (static LOV)</li>
<li>Select List (named LOV)</li>
<li>Select List (query based LOV)</li>
<li>Hidden</li>
<li>Popup LOV (named LOV)</li>
<li>Popup LOV (query based LOV)
</li>
</ul>

    No matter what out of the box theme I switch to, the Interactive Reports region shows the same. What and where do I change the template so that alternating rows use two different colors?

    There is no template for Interactive Reports like for a "normal" report. You need to modify the CSS and supply your own for this to happen.

  • Capture current query for a report region

    Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but I could not find it.
    I have a reporting application where several different reports that have a list of customers. I would like to develop a means to generate a mailing list for the customers that is generic and can be used on any report. I envision getting the list of customer by executing a query like:
    select person_id from
    ( <report region query> );
    Is there a way to get the current query (or query result) for a report region and process it in a PL/SQL procedure? This would need to work for regions that have an SQL query and a PL/SQL function returning a query.

  • Long LOV for editable column

    I have an updateable report based on a SQL Query with a few columns in it. One of the columns is an id referencing another table (a foreign key). I would like to display a descriptive name from the referenced table along with the id and provide a LOV to choose from but only the value of id will be placed to the column.
    I used POP LOV(Query based LOV) for the column attribute, and the query and the query like this:
    select obj_num || ' ' || Description from obj_tbl order by obj_num.
    I would like the obj_num value to be the only value return to ID column.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Julie

    I can think only of using a select list instead with the following query:
    SELECT   obj_num || ' ' || description d, obj_num r
        FROM obj_tbl
    ORDER BY obj_numBut that will only work if your list of values is not too big (I don't know the exact limit).
    For a tabular form there is no popup LOV displaying description and returning key value within the standard. You can try using apex_item.popupkey_from_query and that would mean you would need to create a manual tabular form instead of using the standard.
    See these examples on how to create a manual tab-form:

  • Print / Export on web page no longer works for Crystal Report

    I am honestly at a loss, for days, the report would allow me to click on the printer icon and print to PDF or export the result of the report, but now, all I get is a blank page when the page refreshes. It no longer asks me for print range or anything. I thought this might be a IE 6 setting, but after reviewing the settings and placing the site in my trusted sites list, I still can't print.Is there a web.config setting I need to know about to make sure that export and print are enabled?
    I get no error messages at all, it is as if the button is broke, but I have no way to troubleshoot the innerworkings of crystal xi r2 buttons on the web page. If I could just step though the script it uses that would atleast let me see what is going on, but right now, I am stuck.
    Thanks for your help ahead of time.

    I've went a bit farther than that, I created a virtual directory and placed the aspx file (and its associated ascx and designer files) into that folder along with the report, then I placed a basic web.config file with only crystal required elements within that folder. I disconnected that version of the viewing page from the master web file so that it no longer used a master file, I setup the assembly register at the top under the control section, then I placed the viewer and source on that page. Same end result, the report shows but when clicking on any option, the page is blank but source shows that there is javascript there. My report is not autobound, it is programatically generated from a click of a button.
    These were my assumptions:
    1) when the report is generated, it is on the page and the session information has everything it needs to know about the report
    2) when an option is selected, either clicking on the tree, the zoom, the print or export (or other options), that the view information is passed back during the postback event to the controls so that the report would not have to be regenerated
    What I am finding out, at the very least through trials, is that an autobound report, the controls work, but a manual bound report, the pages are blank after selection of any of the listed javascripted items. On top of that, the only time that this seems to be working on a manual bound page is that the page can contain nothing but the report and that the report must be rebuilt on page_load event. Which is not good.
    What 'should' be the desired design, is that Crystal writes to a session variable, the report data so that on a post back event, it understands what we want without having to do a full report reload. This would be optional of course because in its current design, each event triggered causes a repost of new data and never last pulled information, so that if there was a change in records, the event pulls the most up to date information. This is not documented anywhere that I have found for web design.
    So then, another problem along the same lines has arrisen. As you say, Crystal doesn't play well with AJAX, but AJAX is a requirement for the project and I need to have a progress bar for the report since ultimately the page is waiting on the report to show. Depending on the report and the postback, this could be a while, If it takes a minute for the initial view of the report to show, all events on the page will trigger a full refresh of the report and subsequent pulls will take the same time since the controls don't allow for 'use posted data' instead of 'pull new data'.
    Taking your suggestion, I removed the view from the panel and placed it above the panel control. At this point, the tree node script works, the zoom script works, all of the controls in the control colection on the report work, except export and print, those two still do not work. This is with me also placing the call to the buildreport on page_load event.
    What is even more troubling, is that not until I had removed the UpdatePanel and UpdateProgress controls from the page completely did the export or print work at all. With the fact those two exist anywhere on the page in general causes a problem. Again, not a desired result. I need a live visual effect for the user that something is going on because some of the reports take seconds while others can take minutes depending on the pull and they need to know that 'something' is going on.
    Removing UpdatePanel and UpdateProgress is not an option.

  • Define Reports For Branch Reporting/Region Wise Reports

    Hi,
    Is there any possibilities to define our own reports for Branch Wise/Region Wise Reporting?
    Kindly give me suggestion if possible with the process to create.

    kischowdary*gmail.com

    Hi:
    You can define your own customized reports for Branch Wise/Region Wise Reporting.
    This is the work of a technical person ie. ABAPer.
    You have to give him tables names,fields for defining reports.
    Alternatively, you can use SAP BW to define your customized reports.
    Please let me know if you need more information.
    Assign points if useful.

  • Non scrollable headers for multiple report regions on a page. Please help!!

    Hi everyone,
    I am having two report regions on my page and am trying to have the static/non scrollable headers for both the report regions. I followed on of the threads in the forum and was able get the static headers for one region, but am not able to for second region. I put my app on apex :

    Can anyone please help me? Appreciate your help.
    regards,
    Suma.

    Hello Suma,
    The first parameter of the MakeStaticHeader() function is your table id, and it defines the "playground" of the function. If you want to apply static headers to two reports, you need to define two unique IDs, one for each report.
    Change your SKstandard… report template, and define the table ID to be "table_grab1". Duplicate this template, and change the ID to be "table_grab2". Applied the templates to your reports, and use the correlated IDs as parameters to the MakeStaticHeader() function.
    Regards,
    Arie.

  • Can we have one submit button for mutliple report regions querying same tbl

    Hello,
    I have a normal multiple report regions in a page with some editable in those regions, these report regions are querying the same table. Now, Is it possible to have one submit button for all the report regions to update the underlying table data?
    Can anyone please help me out with this one.
    thanks,
    Orton

    First you'll almost certainly need to roll your own - the built-in stuff is fairly basic and more than likely won't help.
    It sounds like your process flow should be something like:
    1) Person clicks button.
    2) You do a select for update in the process to get the loan id and put it in the person's queue. At this point you may want to flag that column as having been assigned so it can't be assigned again.
    3) You then forward them to the form to enter data. Personally I would create my own items and processses and forgo the built-in form stuff but you may be able to use the Automated Row Fetch. If you do your own, you just reference the objects like:
    insert into table
    values(:P1_1, :P1_2, :P1_3)Edit - Another way would be to use a regular form and insert Stop/Start Tables - so it can look like a different section, but it really is just a label. Thats another option.

    </script>
    Maybe you have to modify the "vd_getBody" function. I'm searching the table cell with having the class "t10data". When you use another theme, there's maybe another class used.
    Second is, that you set an static id for your report region. I prefer this structure:
    R<app-id><page-id><seq> (Raaaaappppsss) e.g. R094260001010.
    First example is to turn off the onMouse-Effect. Maybe on the first or last column definition you put this code in the "HTML-Expression" area:
    <script>ex_conditional_tr('R094260001010', #ROWNUM#);</script>#ID#This will call the example function ex_conditional_tr with the parameter
    a) the region id
    b) the rownum (as oracle always starts with 1 this is the first data row [rownum=0 is the table header row])
    Second example is the conditional formatting of a table cell. Put this in the HML-Expression area:
    <script>ex_conditional_td('R094260001010', #ROWNUM#, #COLNUM#-1);</script>#ENAME#This will call the example function ex_conditional_tr with the parameter
    a) the region id
    b) the rownum
    c) the cellnum (here we have to subtract 1 to get the "real" cell index)
    The "ex_conditional" functions are just a representation of how to get the row or cell node.
    Hope this help a bit.
    Tom

    I would use a CASE statement in the select....
    each CASE would be an img src tag for a different button if the button is an image.
    does that make sense? I can include an example if you would like...

  • How to get the number of rows in a report region

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to get the number of rows returned in a report region, without issuing an additional "select count(*) from some_table"?
    I mean something like the substitution string #ROW_NUM# but for the total rows.
    Thanks,
    Pedro.

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/ui.htm#CHDDGGEG
    For classic report regions, the region footer supports the following substitution strings:#ROWS_FETCHED# shows the number of rows fetched by the Oracle Application Express reporting engine (the page size). You can use these substitution strings to display customized messages to the user. For example:
    Fetched #ROWS_FETCHED# rows in #TIMING# seconds.
    *#TOTAL_ROWS# displays the total number of rows that satisfy a SQL query used for a report.*
    #FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# and #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# display the range of rows displayed. For example:
    Row(s) #FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# through #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# of #ROWS_FETCHED# displayed>

  • Print out of Report Region dropping negative values

    I am very new to APEX (< 2 months) and don't have much of a programming background. I have created a report layout using BI publisher and made it available as a shared component in my APEX applicaiton. When I print the the report region, most of the data displays fine on the print out, but any amounts with negative values are suppressed. I can view the negative amounts just fine when they are displayed on the report region itself.
    It took me quite a while to get the style sheets from BI Publisher to work with APEX. I thought the two were supposed to be compatible. Does anyone know how to resolve the issue above or if their are any known compatability issues between BI Publisher and APEX? We are on APEX version 4.2.1.00.08 and BI Publisher version 11.1.1.

    This was indeed a bug. Response from Oracle:
    This issue has been noted by development as a bug and I have file bug 16224878 regarding your issue. The issue explained by development pertains numeric format string which wraps the negative value in angle brackets: < val > , and the report is treating this as a HTML tag and filters it out. It looks like this is happening only for classic report regions, i.e. report queries seems to support this type of numeric format mask.
    A work around would be to turn off printing for the classic report region and to provide a button to a report query for printing, using the same SQL for the report query as is used for the report region. Alternatively you could also use a different format mask.

  • Control Break in normal report regions

    Can I somehow insert kind of a control break for normal report regions?
    I use it within serveral interactive reports. Now I have a normal report region displaying projects of all department. The users want to have them grouped with a sum by department, which would be easy to do within an interactive report using a control break.
    But how can I do this in a normal report region?

    You need the execute keyword only when you run it directly from sqlplus.. that will tell sqlplus to append the keyword begin and end after the procedure call.
    Example.
    SQL > exec proc1 (input1);
    will tell sqlplus to run it as a block.. saying
    sql> Begin
              proc1(input1);
          end;Inside the procedure , in your code, you dont need the execute keyword.
    But, why do you want to execute a procedure inside the source for a report region..?
