Lost iweb source "code"

Hi,
my computer crashed and the "domain" file had not been saved.
A little too late, I've just figured out how to do this now.
The site had been published to mobileme. So, it's still up and running.
The question is: is there a way to reverse-engineer the published pages and get back the original iweb pages (with lines, shapes, pictures...)? Or do I have to rebuild the site from scratch?

Welcome to the discussions. Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • IWeb source codes

How does one access and add source codes for websites created in iWeb? One can view source page on internet but where do we go to add to it for better site traffic?

If you mean the html files - you have to publish to a folder or if you publish to mobileme pull them off your idisk and add the code, then put the files back. you will have to do that each time you republish the site.
I don't know whether you can add anything using html snippet as I don't add meta tags etc to my sites. They all rank quite well without any help.

  • How do I access iWeb source code?

I am building a site on iWeb and want to add drop down menus. I can make them in Dreamweaver, but I don't know how to access the full source code of iWeb to be able to add the Spry Menu Bar I have created in Dreamweaver CS3
Can anyone tell me how to access the source code of iWeb?
Can I build a page in iWeb in code?

If so, is it true that it has to be added again each time you publish?
If you are talking about modifying the code in the .html files created when you publish from iWeb, yes, your modifications will be overwritten if you republish, so they need to be added again.

  • How to get source code from portal app

    Hi,
I have a successful Web dynpro portal application running, which I would like to modify. We lost the source code. Is there any way that I can get the source code from the portal?.
Thanks and I appreciate your help.
    /Sunita.

    Hi,
You can extract class files from app.jar and decompile it(.ear->.wda) but it is only generated classes without metadata. Metadata is stored in .wda file but format is not compatible with studio. That all options you have.
Go through the following links, it will be helpfull to you

  • I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Is it necessary to add? If so, how do I add H Tags to iweb.

I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Are they necessary to add?  Why would one add these tags and how do I add H Tags to iweb? And are there examples to look at? I am slowly learning about simple web design and assumed that iweb was stand alone without having to write code. Is this one of the reasons iweb is no longer supported? Thanks for looking at this!

A simple text page like this:
    Heading
        sub heading
              text paragraph ....
Is traditionally represented by html tags like:
    <h1>Heading</h1>
         <h2>sub heading</h2>
              <p>text paragraph ... </p>
I would guess that the use of h1-h6 tags helps search engines to understand the structure of a page as the tags imply a certain structure.
This can be compared to more generic tags like <div> that could represent any kind of content - and may be what iWeb uses (you'll have to check yourself).
I would generally recommend that you use some kind of up to date blog/site building tool, perhaps Wordpress or Squarespace (I haven't used either one myself) that support current web technologies - this should reduce your SEO issues and make it easier to properly support mobile/tablet users.

  • How view and edit source code before publish to iWeb

I noted the following iWeb page plays music when it opens: http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/maya_test/
How does one change the source code in iWeb before it is published so that such a change as he did works in opening a blog page?
    Dennis
    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I could as easily edited the iWeb slideshow.html page but I wanted to test the features of the newer slide show.
The page was uploaded to my .Mac account (iDisk) and then copied to my Desktop. I edited the images to reduce their file size and edited the page code and reposted the entire thing (drag and drop) in my iDisk Sites (Homepage) folder.
The page was to test the features of the new javascript slide show and is S&G stuff.
Being a dial-up user (very slow) I wanted to give the value of the new slide show without the added bloat of the new iWeb software.
Here is the iWeb version with the same music code pasted into the slideshow.html page:
    http://web.mac.com/kkirkster/iWeb/Maya/Maya.html
Once the first page loads completely a viewer can click on the "Start Slideshow" button and view the images and listen to very bad MIDI music.
Simple copy/paste of some object and embed tag code using Text Edit (set to plain text).
So. I'll make some slide show pages using iWeb and add a bit of simple code and then repost the page at my Homepage site.
    Less bloat. More filling!

  • Help!!! I lost all my source code...

    I need help!!!
I finally able to finish my assignment and I lost all the source code as my hard disk blew up... and I need to print out all the source code I have written....
The only thing I have left is the files in my floppy disk which is the executable jar file. I can run the program but I cannot find the source code... Could anyone help me? I have only the *.class files which is after the extraction of the Jar file.... How do I get all the source codes only from the *.class files?
Please help me.... The dateline is tomorrow for this assignment and I won't be able to write all the codes within such a short period of time....

You won't be able to get the original source code, but you might want to look into using a decompiler. I unfortunatly don't know any good ones, but others might.
It'll look terrible, but it might be sufficent.
I'm assuming that when you look in the cotents of your .jar file, .java files arn't amongst those?
Also, are you using an IDE? If so which, depending on the IDE, you might be able to recover the files. I wouldn't count on it.
I suggest using the decompiler, and doing your best to rewrite the program again. Since you already wrote it, a lot of stuff should be fresh in your memory.
    And good luck.

  • Lost the webdynpro application source code

    Hi Experts,
We have some webdynpro applications. Presently running in Portal server.  One of the application is giving the error. we need to fix that issue. Since we don't have any NWDI system, One of  the application source code got corrupted, Kindly let me know is there any we can retrieve the  source from the deployed application or .ear file from Portal.
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Guru,
I think it is not possible to get the whole project structure.
But you can get the java files of your local DC project by logging into your portal using the url http://host_name:5000/nwa.
Navigate to Analysis ->Configuration ->J2EE Configuration Browser . Click on Local System Node ->apps->sap.com. Under sap.com(or the domain you have defined namespace) you can find a u2018src.zipu2019 file. In this u2018srcu2019 folder you can find the java files.
If the error has occurred in your project while modifying particular webdynpro file, then you can get the previous version of the file(file before the error occurred) by navigating to C:\Documents\SAP\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.history location in you local system. In history folder you can find all the versions of the webdynpro file which you were modifying till now.
    Thanks,
    Shilpa

  • HTML source code...?

How do I Open the HTML source code on my website ? (I am using iWeb 1.1.2)

You can view your HTML source by publishing your site. If you publish it locally to a folder and double-click the index.html file it will open in a browser. Then, for example, in Safari you can click on the View menu and choose View Source.
Note that iWeb cannot "open" its HTML code or import published HTML, nor does it have an HTML editor. This article may be useful:

  • Easy way to protect source code from hackers?

I did a search and couldn't come up with an answer.
I added a password script for clients on my site, but I would like to be able to (inexpensively!) protect my code from hackers so they can't view passwords and usernames.
Any one know of a good place to check?
    Thanks,
    Jim

The other methods are like putting a No Trespassing
sign on your door, hardly secure.
I AGREE. That is why I said it was a "fast fix" and I also said, "However if someone disabled javascript, they could still view your source."
    Metaphorically
speaking if you want a vault with a moat get MySQL if
you want to keep your kids inside the playroom by
means of a plastic barrier then go with
    Javascript/.htpasswd methods mentioned by other
inexperienced users that are only looking for a
    "real fast fix".
.htpasswd is hardly the equivalent of the javascript method.
I am not looking for any fix, thanks. And I was just making suggestions, same as you.
I am not an inexperienced iWeb user. I am inexperienced with MySQL and PHP. Lucky for me, this is the iWeb forum.
If you do not think your photos are highly classified
information (or something) then you might want to
    re-evaluate your professional priorities.
They are probably copyrighted, they are personal, maybe they aren't for the public eye, but they are not exactly confidential. The OP said he wanted to protect the passwords in the source code. I offered two ways to do this.
    I'm sure
you do care about the security of your photos online
that's why iWebFAQ is defending your position on the
security issue since it seems like it is not that big
of a deal for some novice users that are simply
    looking for kudos.
There you go, talking in third person again...
I am not looking for kudos. In fact, I challenge you, Jasper, to find a thread where I am asking for thanks or points or stars or $5 donations or whatever. Go for it. You won't find one.
Remember if you are Publishing to .mac you can set up
your own Password Protection in iWeb as Old Toad
first mentioned. This method is much more secure
than the Javascript method later mentioned in an
    attempt to join this discussion.
If you need any more help setting up MySQL feel free
    to contact iWebFAQ.
And for just a $5 suggested donation, you can find out all about how hackers operate.

  • Editing Source Code

I'm working with 10.4.6 and Safari 2.0.3. Just learning HTML and doing some basic tutorials. I wrote the code using MS Word and everything went fine. The next part of the tutorial was to edit, using view source code. According to the lesson, one should be able to make changes there and then save and refresh, but I'm not able to make any changes. I checked to see if it was because the item was read only or locked, but that was not the case. Does it have something to do with Word? I did a search, but only came up with things referencing iweb. Any help is appreciated.

You can't edit source code with Safari. Use TextEdit or any text editor. Some other browsers might also have the capability to do this, I don't know.
