i lost my ipod 4th gen. in pekin, in the eastern high school track parking lot. last seen on may 12,2011 looked everywhere and i cant find it. i know the serial number. anything i can do? please help

If you have registered your device, you can go to https://supportprofile.apple.com/ and log into your apple id. Your devices appear there with serial numbers.
Additionally, your serial number is included on the original receipt when purchased at any Apple Online or Apple Retail store, or any Authorized Apple Reseller.

Hey fashion fix97, Sorry to hear you lost your iPod. Knowing the serial number is of little use. Apple will do nothing to help find your iPod. Report the iPod lost / stolen to the police. Try looking at lost and founds if lost in a public area. You'll have to go physically look for iPod like it was a lost wallet. The SN will not help at all. If wifi is on then call it with FaceTime, Skype, Messages or other app that uses a notification sound and listen. That is the only way. You can also just look for it the old fashioned way.

To delete your iCloud account from Settings>iCloud they have to enter your ID password.
The can place the iPod in Recovery mode and they restore the iPod but they will have to enter your iCloud ID and PW to activate the iPod.

Stolen iPod and i know the thief BUT NO SERIAL#!!

so about 4 days ago my ipod was stolen by this guy in my latin class (i know i should have been more careful!!!), but i have no way of proving it. I just bought my ipod video like 3 weeks ago and i dont have the box or a copy of the serial number written down....
so how can i find it? is there like a log in itunes that checks the s/n or something like that?? This really stinks because i know he did it and so does he but i have no way of proving it.....

your going to have to put the ipod into recovery mode and restore the device. Unfortunatly you will lose all the info on the device after the restore but if you have a backup for the device in itunes you will be able to get all the info back if no backup is on itunes all info will be lost you can find the backups on in itunes under the edit>
preferences>devices and check for the backup
to put the ipod into recovery mode disconnect the ipod from the computer
power down the ipod
press and hold the home button than plug the device in and the itunes should give a message that states
itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode and must first be restored before it can be used
than click the restore option in the summary page and issue resolved
