LOV - date format

Whenever I use a list of values to display a date field it displays as DD-MON-YY even though I have put a format mask of DD-MON-YYYY.
How can I get it to display DD-MON-YYYY?

Thanks Vincent and Michael.
The to_char function worked using an unbound item of type SQL expression instead of the column. Some LOVs were built on a view and I tried putting the formatted date as a varchar2 attribute of the view but it didn't work for me so I created an unbound item and this work.

  • Date format error in LOV with dates. Jdeveloper 11.1.1.0.1

    We're facing a silly problem, which no one else seems to have... ?
    When creating a LOV on a date column (eg hr.employees.hiredate) populated from another DataSource (eg. hr.job_history.startDate), the Application Module is working fine when tested.
    Building a jspx on top of the Datacontrol picks up the LOV defined and creates a SelectOneChoice for hiredate. But for what ever value you select, it will complain about wrong date format "Error: The date is not in the correct format".
    I can see, that the "real" value selected from the SelectOneChoice is an index-value, and the "format checking code" builtin to Jdeveloper can't figure out how to get the datevalue for the selected index.
    Surely it must be me, who can't see the forest for the trees?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Its a bit tricky - but its doable... We have to abandon the "Oracle LOV model" to make it work.
    Surely its must be some kind of bug in the Oracle LOV model? ?
    The way to do it is like:
    In Model project:
    M1: Remove List Of Value binding from Model layer (Business components). Both entity and view if declared both.
    M2: Create a view for the "date list" - ie the datasource for possible values in list.
    M3: Secure that format mask (hint) for all dates involved are the same.
    In View project:
    V1: Drop datacontrol on jspx as normal input dates.
    V2:Go to bindings for the page, and add (+) a new TABLE binding (And from here an iterator) to the view containing the list.
    Modify the input dates you want to be list:
    V3: Select the input date and rightclick and choose "convert"
    V4: Select a SelectOneChoice component
    V5: Pick the right column (tree) value to show in the SelectOneChoice componet.
    Switch to source view:
    V6: Drop a ForEach item from the component Palette (ADF Faces -> operations) on the SelectOneChoice (easiest to drop in structure windows)
    V7: Drop a Select Item from the component Palette (ADF Faces -> common components) on the SelectOneChoice (easiest to drop in structure window).
    Modify the source:
    V8: Insert "items" and "var" attributes in ForEach like this: +"items="#{bindings.[[Here goes the name of the New TableBinding component you made in Step V2]].rangeSet}" var="li"+
    V9: Insert "value" attribute and change "label" attribute to reference your new list variable "li" like this: +label="#{li.[[here goes the name of the new TableBinding Component attribute (columnname) you made in Step V2]]}" value="#{li.Firstofmonth}"+
    V10: Insert/edit any converters/validators needed for input validation.
    Done....
    You should end up with a SelectOnChoice definition (in your jspx file) something like this one:
    +<af:selectOneChoice value="#{row.bindings.ActiveFrom.inputValue}"+
    +label="#{row.bindings.ActiveFrom.label}"+
    +required="#{bindings.McAccountsView1.hints.ActiveFrom.mandatory}"+
    +shortDesc="#{bindings.McAccountsView1.hints.ActiveFrom.tooltip}">+
    +<af:forEach items="#{bindings.FirstOfMonth1.rangeSet}" var="li">+
    +<af:selectItem label="#{li.Firstofmonth}" value="#{li.Firstofmonth}" />+
    +</af:forEach>+
    +<af:convertDateTime pattern="dd-MM-yyyy"+

    +secondaryPattern="yyyy-MM-dd"/>+
    +</af:selectOneChoice>+
    And a binding definition (in your pagedef file) something like this one:

    this approach works... But... Its important to remember that the "two" values are different now. The value in the row, and the possible value from the list. When you select a new value for the row from the list, you'll have to commit the value before its in the row - even seen from Faces. You can't reference the value in the base table in a validator before the row is committed.
    For the same reason I'll advise, that you only use the model in Single row view, since its can behave a bit funny in table views, where there's a lot of PPR.

  • How do I set a custom time & date format in the top bar?

    Hello guys,
    Very embarassing question, because I've had Apple's for all of my life (starting with the original Apple Macintosh) but I still haven't figured out one thing
    How do I set a custom time & date format in the top bar?
    When I go to System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats I can set different formats. I have no idea where you will see these, but I know that it's not the top bar where the time and date is being displayed. Because no matter what I enter, the format in the top bar will stay the same. I can only choose things like 24-Hour clock or not, blinking dots and so on in the Time & Date settings from the System Preferences.
    Can anyone here point me in the right direction? I see you can even choose to display the week of the year - I'd love to do that!
    All help appreciated!
    Greetings

    Language & Text system preferences, Formats tab, customize dates.
    There are also many third party menu item utilities that can.  Search Macupdate.com for some.
    One search yielded iClock Pro.  Although I never used it I would think it allows customization.  The link I gave you is to the Macupdate download page for that app.  On that same page is a Similar Software section which has other apps that can do the same thing.
    One listed is iStat Menus.  The primary use for iStat Menus is not for displaying date/time but it does do that.  And I know it can do what you want because I use iStat Menus to track temperature sensors n my machine and, like you, I want to customize the menu time/date.  So I use it instead of the apple clock.  It does have the customization features I think you are looking for.

  • Date format in Discovere Reports

    We have created a workbook with a parameter which is supposed to show up an LOV for a parameter in the MON-RR format. Now this LOV shows up
    correctly in the Discoverer Desktop edition as MON-RR format, but when we view
    the same in Discoverer Viewer it shows up as DD-MON-RRRR.
    Earlier we had got a partial resolution on this issue (TAR 3891425.996), wherein by changing the ICX
    profile value in Oracle Applications, we are able to set the date mask to MON-R
    R.
    But now the above profile applies to all the reports and all the dates show up as MON-RR, whereas we want to continue showing the date in DD-MON-RRRR forma
    t in some of the reports.
    How can this be achieved ?

    HI Kishore
    Thanks for your reply i checked all the things but with no success. do think there could be any other place where i should check .
    1. nqsconfig date format
    its same for both the two installations
    DATE_TIME_DISPLAY_FORMAT = "yyyy/mm/dd hh:mi:ss" ;
    DATE_DISPLAY_FORMAT = "yyyy/mm/dd" ;
    TIME_DISPLAY_FORMAT = "hh:mi:ss" ;
    2. make sure that you didn't save date format in column properties from front-end
    Just checked and we havan't saved anything in column properties .. even i created new report as well but still format was same ..
    3. Did you mention anything in connection pool settings to set date format.
    no we havan't mention anything in connection pool
    4. Make sure that you are connecting to same database, and date format set for date is same here and there
    yahh both the two installatiosn are connected to same database .. but not sure about "date format set for date is same here and there
    " hw i can check this
    finally, check this: http://108obiee.blogspot.com/2009/04/changing-date-format-mask-in-javascript.html
    no its not on one column .. its to all the date format columns on all the reports .. so i think its not case with me .
    please let me know if you need more info

  • [XI 3.0]  Date Format

    Hi All,
    I have one question regarding LOV in designer. (the same problem in deski and infoview)
    Problem is with date format. When we display LOV we get data 1.1.2009 (d.m.yyyy) and we would like to have like this 01.01.2009 (dd.mm.yyyy). Data type of object is date.
    Regional settings :dd.mm.yyyy.
    Oracle: NLS_LANG => SLOVENIAN_SLOVENIA.EE8MSWIN1250
    Object formating in universe => dd.mm.yyyy
    P.S.
    The same universe works fine in 6.1.3
    Installed software:
    BOE XI 3.0 with SP1,SP2,SP3 (on tomcat)
    Oracle client 10.2
    Windows server 2003 or windows XP
    Regional settings => Slovenian
    Thank you for reply!

    Try this:
    In Designer, open the universe which has the date object.
    2. Create a new object called "new_date" with a character data type, then in the select box of this object type the following:
    to_char(EMP.HIREDATE,"DD.MM.YYYY")
    3. Open the Object properties of the original date object (for example, called "Hiredate") and replace the existing LOVs of Hiredate by new_date (Properties tab > Edit button).
    4. You can now hide the object new_date if required.
    5. Click Run > Display to view the updated list of values where the date format of the LOVs is now in the format; DD.MM.YYYY.

  • Parsing Issue in Filter For Date Format

    Hi Folks,
    I am having Parsing Issue on "Key Date" Object in Universe. See the Error and Code below for your review
    Error: Parse Failed: Exception: DBD, The value entered is not valid. It must adhere to one of the following formats.
    YYYYMMDD
    DD.MM.YYYYState:N/A
    Code:
    <OPERATOR VALUE="AND"><OPTIONAL><FILTER KEY="0I_DAYIN"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Between"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Day Interval From','A','Calendar Day\LovDay IntervalBase',mono,primary_key)"/><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Day Interval To','A','Calendar Day\LovDay IntervalBase',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER></OPTIONAL><FILTER KEY="0P_KEYDA"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Key Date','D',,mono,free)"/></CONDITION></FILTER></OPERATOR>
    This universe is created by someone else and client need to modify it with a calendar but i did not modify it yet however its already giving me the hard time. Kindly advise, any kind of help will be appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi,
    With the information provided I cannot for sure get to the error but here is what I would check.
    Firstly, I was wondering if the 5th parameter in the @Prompt can be Primary_Key. I thought it would be either free or constrained.
    Secondly, please the LOV values for the @ prompt are being populated from 'Calendar Day\LovDay IntervalBase'. So I would check the date format being used there.
    Third, the To and From dates are alphaneumeric and not dates, so I am not sure how the comparision would happen.
    Hope this helps.

    Madhur

  • Date Parameters and List of Values (error message date format cannot be nul

    I'm new to BI Publisher. I began with a simple report that has 4 parameters. The parameters are center code, sales date, customer number, and job number. I am trying to create a list of values on my customer number based on the center code and sales date entered by the user. My query for my LOV is:
    select customer_nbr
    from ticket
    where center_cd = :center
    and trunc(trans_date) = :salesDate
    salesDate is defined as a date parameter with a format of MM-dd-yy. It's default value is 04-10-07.
    When I attempt to view my report after adding the LOV, I receive the error:
    Date format can not be null.
    What am I doing wrong? Also, I would like the salesDate to default to the current date. I have tried using sysdate as the default value. This isn't working. The salesDate defualts to null when it is set to sysdate.

    "Date - allows the user to enter a date as a parameter. Note that the data type must also be "Date" and the format must be Java date format."

  • Column in DATE format

    Hello Everybody
    I have a report did Apex, this report has a column which data type is DATE but by default the Apex put it in the format : DD-MM-YYYY HH:MI:SS
    But I only want that his column has the format DD/MM/YYYY
    I know that is posible convert this field using the function TO_CHAR(date, format) but in the report I want to sort this field considering that this filed is in date data type not in char.
    Also I know that I can use the function EXTRACT for concatening the day, month and year and after convert to date in the format 'dd/mm/yyyy'; but I don´t want to write many code.
    I don't want to do some like this:
    TO_DATE(
    EXTRACT( 'DAY' FROM DateFiled )||'/'|| EXTRACT( 'MONTH' FROM DateFiled )||'/'|| EXTRACT( 'YEAR' FROM DateFiled ), 'DD/MM/YYYY' )
    Do you know how to convert to this date format (DD/MM/YYYY) preserving the format?
    I expect your prompt reply.
    Any help will be very appreciated.
    Best Regards

    Hi Eric
    One of the really cool features of the later versions of APEX is the ability to set a default "Application Date Format".
    This is done in the Application xx>Shared Components>Definition then select the "Globalization" tab.
    You can select from a list of pre-defined date formats, or enter your own.
    My preference is "DD-Mon-YYYY" which is not in the list.
    Just leave your date fields as regular DATE type in the select (no formatting in the select).
    This Application Date Format is then used as the default for ALL dates for which you don't specifically set (another) date format
    This is also selecable in the Display options of a "Date Picker (Use Application Date Format)" LOV - for any date page items that you want to provide a date picker.
    This really simplifies the effort in getting a consistent look and feel - and keeping a constant standard throughout the application.
    The other benefit is that you can make a change in one place, and ALL the dates (without a specific date format specification) will change format - just like that.
    This is just one of the features that makes APEX the most productive - and cool - systems around.
    Enjoy!

  • SAP Business Objects 4.1 - American Date Format Issue

    This issue is something that keeps arising, if your viewing a crystal report, or building a new Webi report in 4.1 and viewing it, the date format seems to come out as M/D/YYYY HH:MM:SS, this never happened in 4.0.
    I will give an example, today I updated a 4.0 to 4.1 using the update path in a development server, and updated to 4.1 SP03 which is the latest. When I decided to write a Web Intelligence Report or create a Crystal report and publish this, all the date formats came out in American date format, and not the standard English one DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS anymore. However if I go to the Live server which I haven't yet updated and is still on 4.0 SP04 Patch 11 and perform exactly the same its in English format as it always was.
    Can someone please enlighten me to what has changed from 4.0 to 4.1 in terms of configuration regarding the date formats changing.
    My server regional settings are English, and using the default GMT date time, so is my machine. 4.0 works 4.1 doesn't work the same.
    I have tried changing the .prm files in the connectionserver\dataaccess folder as well, this doesn't seem to make a difference and also used LOV's in universe objects and when using these in prompts you get ameican format. I have also changed the preferences in the BI Launch Pad to view English locale and the GMT date time for Greenwich Mean Time.
    Please can someone advise or suggest where I am going wrong here and how to solve this.
    Many Thanks

    Thanks for your quick response. I have done the check on the universe design tool. I have tried the options - Migration forced and set English (UK). I purged the LOVs and refreshed. No luck as yet. Checked the locale and seems to be fine. When i change the BI launchpad - Web Intelligence preferences to HTML, then the LOV displays correctly - dd/mm/yyyy. The behaviour only occurs when displaying LOV in Applet mode. Maybe will have to look at some Java settings. Thanks
    Added Update- I created a variable =GetPreferredViewingLocale() and tested in WEBI Report with a date object. When I use the BI launchpad Web intelligence Preference to HTML - it display EN_GB. When  I use the BI launchpad Web intelligence Preference to Applet - it display EN_US. It seems to be taking preferred viewing locale as US in applet mode is there a way to fix this please.
    Added Update - It was a bug on Infoview and has been resolved on SP4 . The ADAPT Ref is ADAPT01718291. Just finished testing on UAT, going Live next week with SP4.

  • Problem with Date formatting

    Hi Tim,
    I am facing some issues with formatting the date using XMLP. The following is the sample XML data file i am using:
    <LIST_G_HEADER>
    <G_HEADER>
    <QUOTE_HEADER_ID>1455</QUOTE_HEADER_ID>
    <QUOTE_NUMBER>2027</QUOTE_NUMBER>

    <QUOTE_DATE>27-OCT-2005</QUOTE_DATE>
    <CURRENCY_CODE>GBP</CURRENCY_CODE>
    </G_HEADER>
    </LIST_G_HEADER>
    The formatting i use for my date field i.e <QUOTE_DATE>, ends up either with NO formatting or giving me an error "[010906_114656657][][ERROR] Invalid XSD string: 27-OCT-2005 (XMLP Template Viewer)". The default formatting available with the form field dialog box (MS-Word) feature also doesn't work.
    I have the following formatting for this field in the form field:
    <?format-date:QUOTE_DATE; 'MEDIUM' ?>
    When i read the user guide, it reads that the date should be in the canonical format i.e: YYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss+HH:MM
    However i am not getting the date from the base table's in this format. Is the error happening due to incorrect format or is there some other reason behind this? Please let me know, how can i overcome this issue.

  • Need to convert into date format

    Hi all,
    I need to convert '2008-11-26T11:07:38-06:00' [YYYY]-[MM]-[DD]T[HH]:[MM]:[SS][TIMEZONE]
    in format 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS'.
    Thanks in advance.

    >
    Thank you for your reply
    But it is giving me output as '26-NOV-08'
    And I want in format '2008-11-26 07:38' i.e 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM'.
    >
    Then you are not looking for a date, You are looking for a string.
    The date format that gets displayed is dependent on nls_date_format parameter.
    If you want a string in the format you asked, then,
    SELECT TO_CHAR ( TO_DATE ( '2008-11-26T11:07:38-06:00', 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SS"-06:00"'), 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MM:SS')
      FROM DUAL;Or if you just want the date to be displayed like that then
    Do,

  • LOV Data will render dynamically based on the value in adv table

    Hi Friends,
    am wokring on the requirement of iprocuremnt
    1) in iprocurement checkout page we have option called edit lines , when i click edit lines , the lines items will show catalog items and non catalog items.
    2)if item should be non catalog delevere to location lov data should be restrict
    3)if item should be catalog delevere to location lov data should be all locations
    means dynamically how to restrict the lov data in line level advance table
    can you help me on how to achieve this requirement
    Thanks
    krish.

    If you are using messageLovInput you can try this approach.
    1. In your CO catch 'lovPrepare' event [this event is triggered when user clicks on the magnifying icon besids the lov]
    2. Extract the values based on which you want to filter the LOV data
    3. Call VO's initQuery method to modify the Where clause of VO related to this LOV.
    Code...
    String eventActionParameter = pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM);
    if(eventActionParameter.equals("lovPrepare")) {
    //Extract the values
    //Call a AM method to very the Where clause
    }
