Macbook deleting WIFI details when closing down and start up.

Hoping someone might be able to help, i'v got a new macbook and have managed to set up the wireless network connection, and it's working fine.
My problem is that when i restart my macbook all the wireless internet connection details have been erased and i have to go through and set it up again each time!!!
It doesnt happen when i close safari and open a new page, its only when i close down and start up the whole computer.
I'm thinking it is something to do with the system setup for the wireless network connections, but i haven't been able to figure it out.
(i'm quite new to mac's so ANY help would be greatly appreciated.)

Sounds like a corrupt preference file. I'm not at my Mac at the moment otherwise I'd suggest something to look for. You'll find the file in Users>Library>Preferences. I don't think it's the Finder's (com.apple.finder.plist), but it might be something like com.apple.wireless.plist. Have a search for something and see what shows up. Simply drag any file to the desktop and log out/back in. If no change, then put it back and choose replace if asked.

A: my MacBook Air becomes unresponsive when logging in, and I decided to reinstall OS X Lion. When running the installer from OS X Recovery, it gave the error message "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again."

I encountered the same exact problem when I attempted to re-installed OSX Lion on an old laptop. The date was set back in 2000, which rendered the certificate obsolete. Here's how I fixed it:
From the recovery menu, select the Terminal application. Run the 'date' command to confirm the date is wrong, then set the correct date using this command: date {month}{day}{hour}{minute}{year}
e.g. date 1219195613
Exit terminal (type exit). Retry the installation.

  • Tried everying above- still Firefox makes Facebook freeze and I have to shut it down and start back up.

Yes, I have tried resetting Firefox.
Okay, with that out of the way, I have also disabled all extensions and add-ons when that also did not work.
STILL... I will be typing happily away in Facebook and the screen will just freeze. It will not unfreeze, so I have to shut Firefox down and start it again. It often freezes when something I am typing resembles something FB has a link for. For example, I might type, "I am going to the movies today to see Noah," and then the hyperlink to Noah will appear below it and it will freeze. That is the most common time it freezes (95% of the time) but it is not the only time. I can't even select that hyperlink even if I wanted to. But, with a hyperlink being a possibility, it will freeze. For example, if I type, "I want to say thanks" it will freeze because there might be a hyperlink called, "say thanks." See?
I have put a lot of work and care into my bookmarks and I don't want to lose them by having to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Even if I did, would that even help?
Thanks. Please answer soon. I am tired of having to use Explorer for every time I want to go to Facebook.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.<br />
Note that this will give you Flash 13, so you may want to keep the Flash 12 version in case of problems arise with Flash 13.

  • Can't get MAC to shut down and start up via the schedule button in system preferences energy saver. Is there another way?

Can't get MAC to shut down and start up via the schedule button in system preferences energy saver. Is there another way?

    Try this to start:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
