Macro not executed in the background

Hi all,
I have created a macro to delete the forecast and it is working fine in the foreground, whenever i'm running it in the background, it is not getting executed, no forecast is getting deleted. In the job logs, it is giving the following message:
"No data has been changed; data must not be save".
I have tried with different logics for the macro, all are working fine in the foreground, coming to backgroung, nothing is working.
Please help me out.

Hello Raj,
For executing in background, you need to set up the 'DP Background' jobs. You must ensure that you define a proper Selection ID in Interactive Planning and assign this selection ID to the DP background job. If the proper selection data is not picked up by the Macro, then it may not execute. Hope you have followed that process of setting up Background DP jobs correctly.
Also note that when you execute the Macro in background, if data has not been changed, you generally get a message saying 'data not saved'.

No , the program is not taking any inputs from the user .
when i am executing the program in background mode it is just showing the messages at the end which i am writing in the program for eg:
"creating a user for employee 2306328".
So , only the list of messages comes at the end .

Issue with How Do I Run an Executable in the Background ?

I am trying to run a LabVIEw executable in the background, but none of the methods described in the discussion forum and on ni.com seems to be working. I am using LV 2011 on a Win 7 64-bit machine in case this matters.
I tried the method described in "How Do I Run an Executable in the Background as a Start-Up Application?" (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/4A8B626B55B96C248625796000569FA9?opendocument&Submitted&&... but I still see a fragment of a window at the bottom near the start-button (Exhibit 1). Exhibit 2 shows that it only consists of the title bar. (I have customized the window appearance as described, and added the two items
HideRootWindow=True
UseTaskBar=FALSE
to the *.ini file.)
I also tried disabling all the other items in the Customize Window Appearance menu with the same result.
Then I tried the method described in "Running a LabVIEW Executable as a Background Process" (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/EFEAE56A94A007D586256EF3006E258B) adding the FP.Open method to the VI and setting the state to hidden. I got the same result (Exhibit 1).
Is there anything I need to do in addition or different for my windows version? I appreciate your help. Thank you.

No you did not
They need to go in the exe's ini so the exe sees them

I recieve the following error when running an executable ("This VI is not Executable. The full development version of Labview is required to fix the errors"

I recieve the following error when trying to build and run a labview executable. I am able to build the executable but when trying to run the executable, a pop up window comes up asking the user to select a dll. (please see screen shot attached). Once the DLL is selected, I get the error that This VI is not Executable. The full development version of Labview is required to fix the errors. (please see screen shot attached). I have also attached a snapshot of the project window.
I have the professional development system
I can run the main VI
all the required DLL's are in the dependencies section of the project window.
I am trying to find the root cause of this error but to no avail. can anyone give me a clue to what i am missing here. Any suggestions on where i should look to find the problem ?

Youtube Autoplay not working in the background!

Why isn't autoplay of youtube videos not running in the background of Safari? It works fine in Firefox or Chrome, but in Safari, everytime a video is done, I have to make the youtube tab active for it to start playing the next video in the playlist. I'm pretty sure this is a bug in Safari and has not been fixed for a long long time.. Is there a way to get this working? Any extensions? Please help.

Hi, I have encountered the same problem when the youtube page is running on a background tab in safari. However, I find a alternative way to deal with this bug. I just draw that youtube tab out of safari to make it running in a seperate safari window without any other tabs in this window. In this way, it can autoplay the next video when it running background.

I guess what I have experienced might be a special case of 'Restore previous sessions'. The actual situation was that after I rebooted my laptop, Adobe update jumped out indicating an update being finished successfully. After I clicked on the 'close' button of the Adobe window, it automatically started firefox and linked to its website. But I did not find the 'Restore previous sessions' page this time. Then I restarted firefox, this time there was a start page with 'Restore previous sessions'. However, sadly enough, it is only restored my pinned pages plus the Adobe website. Actually, I am using 'bookmark all tabs' from time to time to secure opened tabs, but this time I did not expect such an incident. I would suggest to improve the 'Restore previous sessions' with multiple time tags and appear in all cases including my reported case here, after updating firefox, crashes etc. I like firefox in most occasions, therefore believe and hope it becomes better and more robust. The VI is not executable. The full development version...

"The VI is not executable. The full development version of LabVIEW is required to fix the errors." That is the error I've been dealing with all day. Actually it is repeated 3 to 4 times in the error message, seen when first launching the EXE. Also of note is that the run-arrow is broken. This is in an EXE that was developed well before version 2013, but I recently upgraded it to 2013 to hopefully fix some random LVRT crashes. There is obviously no issue running the code on my development machine, only once it's deployed.
The good news is I've been able to solve the problem (mostly). My EXE now runs without the errors. I found that the problem wasn't actually in the EXE.
We have a separate project with no files, but in the build specification we have the LabVIEW 2013 Run-Time Engine, as well as NI-VISA for serial support. We then bundle the deployment in a self-extracting RAR and it does its business. In the past this has worked just fine, but with LV2013, it seems that there is a component missing from the deployment.
I found that if I download the Run-Time Engine directly from NI.com and run it, the only things I need to install are the Run-Time Engine, and the DEPLOYABLE LICENSE. If I do this, my EXE runs great, but with the custom installer, it is not included for some reason!
Putting aside the fact that I don't know why the Deployable License package is needed (we aren't connecting to remote panels), I can't seem to modify my custom installer to install the Deployable License. There are versions for LabVIEW 2009 and 2011 SP1 in the Additional Installers list, but I don't see 2013.
Can anyone explain why this is??? For now I will just distribute the 257MB Run-Time Engine and the NI-VISA installers separately I guess. But I'd really like to get back to a single, simple package to install all the prerequisites we need. HELP!

Result handler of a remote call not executed till the other remote calls get result

I have 3 remote calls in sequence.
Say RemoteCall1, RemoteCall2 and RemoteCall3. RemoteCall1 takes the least time say 5 seconds to get results. RemoteCall2 also 5 seconds and RemoteCall3 takes 30 seconds. But the resulthandler for RemoteCall1 does not execute till the RemoteCall3 gets results from server. Any fixes to call resulthander for RemoteCall1 as soon as it gets result without waiting for RemoteCall3 results.
by the way I am usindg Robotlegs framework and AsyncToken.

Don’t make remoteCall3 until you get the results from remoteCall2, etc. That’s the only way I know to guarantee order.
Fllash queues up all remote calls until the end of the frame and sends them all at once, although a network monitor should show that the go out in the order you made the calls.
Similarly, Flash processes all available results at the end of a frame. Results are asynchronous, but if all three results arrive in the same frame, they will all get deserialized. And, the server may not be guaranteed to return results in the order requested, especially if different servers are handling the individual calls.
I’m not sure if your time to get results is gated by server response or Flash processing the results. I suspect it is the latter. You also have the option of changing the resultFormat to get something that doesn’t need processing like XML and process it later.

We have develoepd a software tool and build it on regular basis. It currently runs error free when compiled in the editor, but when we built it and run the executable stand alone we get the error.

This menas an compiler error that is not present in the editor but in the stand alone version. We tried to identify errors as suggested in several posts in this forum, but so far unsuccesfull.
As the editor and its compiler do not see the error and are running fine and the stand alone version just syas 'find the error in the editor' in this case LabView is of no help.
Can anyone suggest a sensible or 'good practice ' way of searching for the source of this error?
Our project comprises hundreds of Vis over several libraries.

Thanks Craig for all your suggestions.
We seem to have located the problem in a new vi just added to the package causing conflicts by using the same vi names as other vis already present in the package. Excluding this vi removed the error.
It seems related to a conflict by having two vis with the same name, which was mentioned by LabView and interactively resolved when running the main vi from the editor. When successfully building the main vi the builder did not mention this conflict and reported a successful build, but when trying to run the executable it gave the cryptic error. The error caused us problems because there was no hint for the cause, just the suggestion to solve this in the editor, while at the same time in the editor the VI was running fine.
We will post about this in detail after we have positively proven that this actually was the case.
The .net version issue was already checked.
Performance was the same on all machines we tested on including the dev machine.
Debugging was tried nut did not help as the vi could not run (broken arrow). We assumed that debugging only helps in running faulty functioning vi''s. We did not check for broken arrows in sub-vis (after connecting), that could have helped, although our application has hundreds of our own vis.
In relation to your remark:
'Are you using many classes? Have you verified that the proper access scopes are set for functions calling those vis?'
Could you elaborate on setting access scopes. We were not aware of this option in LabView, although we realize this is a basic element of the underlying c code.

I have a programme that is updating data through call transaction ,it is updating data when executed in the foreground ,but it is not updating the data when it is scheduled inthe background .

Give the ENTER command once or twice before SAVE command.
because the date format u r giving for uploading is different than the SAP format. it will convert with ENTER command and updates..
Hope this may me the problem, even once i have faced the same...

Adobe Bridge not running in the background

I have bridge setup to load and run in the background when I start windows. However it doesn't run in the background but launches and runs as normal.the icon does not load in the control panel as does other programs that load and run in the background. Running a 64bit windows 7 machine

CUO1 - BDC not working in the background.

We are trying to create dependencies using CU01, when we recorded through LSMW we have got an error saying *for type c' lenght can be from 1 to 65535, ( * caution message arised in the field mapping step)*
we went on with a work around with a BDC, while recording we didn't find any errors,also when processing the recording the system doesn't throw any status message.
After creating a ABAP program with the recording, we are seeing the status message when we run them in the "A" all screen mode when we press enter it is able to create the dependency however the BDC is not able to run in the background throwing with the same status message ($ it is not a screen field).

When running in the mode 'A', the navigation should only be through the ok_code pop up and not by pressing enter. If you had to navigate to the next screen only by hitting the enter manually, there is a problem with the recording. Try to re-run the recording else manually add the code for the enter function with reference to a correct recording.

The bookmark menu will not stay in the background when I select a bookmark to view.

when I open the bookmark menu then select a bookmark, it opens properly, then the bookmark menu returns to the front. I have to click somewhere on the screen I want to bring it forward again. This happens with each bookmark I open. The menu doesn't want to stay in the background.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Is it possible to debug a Job which already executed in the Background.

My Z program has a bug when run it in Quality System.
If I run this program in foreground to debug, its giving TIME OUT dump.
If i try to run it in Background and started DEBUG mode using JDBG.
Still one of the table fetch gives TIME OUT dump.
Is there any possibility to DEBUG the already executed job?

If the job is running go to SM50..
Select the process:
In the menu..Program/session -> program -> debugging..
OR
Fix the break points.
2) Create job.
3) Go SM37
4) Select the job and write "jdbg" in command line.
1) Use Transaction SM50. This would give you a view of all the background
processes running in the server.
2) Choose your background process from the list and got to
MENU "Program/Mode"->"Program"->"Debugging".
