Macro/script needed for automatic layer naming

Hi. I'm new to the forums, but I did a search for this and found something similar, but not quite right. I'm looking for a macro (that I've used in the past, so I know it exists) that will unlock and name the background layer after the filename AS YOU OPEN the file in Photoshop. For example: I'm in Bridge/Finder, and I drag a file named "istock123456.jpg" into Photoshop. As PS opens the file in its own window, instead of the only layer being locked and called "Background", it will be unlocked and called "istock123456.jpg". I've used this macro before at my old job, and it's extremely helpful for referencing back to original files when you need to.
Can anyone help with this? As I mentioned, I found a similar discussion on here, but all that script does is create a new empty layer with the filename on top of the background layer, and you have to manually run it as it's not automatic like I'm talking about here.
Thanks in advance.

This should do it...
activeDocument.activeLayer = activeDocument.layers[activeDocument.layers.length-1];
if(activeDocument.activeLayer.isBackgroundLayer) activeDocument.activeLayer.name = activeDocument.name;
Set up Scripts Event Manager to call this script on Open Document.

    There may be, but I have not seen any reference to Java Scripting with regard to Premiere Elements.
    Consequently, you may make better gains posting your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements forum since Photoshop Elements is part of your workflow equation and is the most likely path to discovery of documentation in this area.

  • Need for persistence layer?

    I don't know if this is the correct forum but this is my question:
    Me and my colleague build a project that can be deployed on Oracle AS and Tomcat (struts DAO pattern). We have two database both are Oracle, one already exist and the other is a new Oracle DB(both are on different machines). We put db link on the two databases so we can have single queries on the tables of the 2 different DB. We also have web services for stored procedure calls. Now my question is do we need a persistence layer(e.g. Oracle Toplink, hibernate) to access the database object of the two different databases?

    thanks fo the idea ram. im only just confused if i needed the mapping.. in this case DAO is enough.

    There is nothing to click on export.  It is just text.  YOu also cannot click on anything that does not have an event associated.  Many events ae hidden in JS code.
    None of the objects in your HTML have IDs so they will not be easy to find.

  • Script needed for creating layers in Indesign.

    Ok, this sounds simple and im sure it is.
    Im currently getting all WEBSITE designs produced by our creative department in Indesign (speed, ease, lack of training whatever! etc etc)
    Im currently layering these elements up manually which is OK, but im sure somebody knows of a script somewhere!!!,
    Ive got a SUPERB script that when the indesign file IS LAYERED I can make it a photoshop PSD thats ALL smart objects etc so Its perfect for web psds. Its amazing, if i can find a script that layers the Indesign document as well PRIOR TO RUNNING THE OTHER SCRIPT, I can quite literally do nothing and just watch the machine do the work!!
    I look forward to your replies!!
    Paul

    Hi Vamitul
    Im sure its very simple but I never seem to be able to find the answer!!, basically if you have 1 page with say 40 text fields and 40 pictures on there, it would through default create it all on 1 layer which is the standard practice and how Indesign has always worked.
    Once I have had the design approved thats been created in Indesign I need to get each element on a seperate layer Ie 80 layers. I currently do this manually! (So the next action I do is use a script I have that turns it into a LAYERED.psd).
    I simply want to have a script which puts each element on a seperate layer.
    Help me Vamitul, I get a good feeling about you!, you could be my saviour!

  • Import Integration Script Needed for Oracle DB

    Hi All!
    Anybody can give me import integration script for Oracle DB if i want to import data directly from DB where i dont need to extract or make Flat file and to keep at specific location location on fdm directory.
    A script which integrates if new location is created in set of books of accounts or any entity will be created in Oracle Apps. and stored in specific db. From where i have staging area where relevent DB with req feilds and records.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello,
    If you review the FDM Workbench Admin Guide there is a sample one already.
    There are only a few differences between Oracle and SQL:
    1. The provider string (which can be generated by looking at a .UDL file in a text editor)
    2. Oracle DB's are case sensitive, and by default everything non-quoted is pushed to uppercase (which is pretty much everything for FDM)
    Thank you.

  • Taxonomy - how many training documents needed for automatic classification?

    Greetings,
    I have an example based taxonomy.
    I have trained the taxonomy manually with about two documents and expected it to classify automatically after that which it has not done.
    According to the URL below
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/7234683/Retrieval-and-Classification-TREX-Features-and-Functions
    it is mentioned that "You can also classify documents automatically. A prerequisite for this is that there are existing document classes with sufficiently correctly classified documents that meet the classification criteria"
    Please advise if training the taxonomy with only two documents which I did was too little - exactly how many documents are needed? (the above URL does not give an indication of a number)

  • Help needed for automatic batch creation for by-products(PP-PI)

    Hi,
    In the Goods Recpt tab in transaction COR1, we have a field for creating a batch manually for the header material. On clicking on create, a pop up is generated whch facilitates creation of batch for the header material.
    At this point, if i go to the material list, I would like to see the same batch number ( same as header) written against the BY-Products.
    Essentially, when i create a batch for the header material, it should also create a batch with the same number for the by-product and populate the same in the materials tab.
    One important thing to note here is that when we click on create batch icon, the data is stored in a structure and the batch is actually created only when the process order is saved.
    Please advise if this can be achived by some standard settings in SAP or do we need to change the standard code. If later is the case, please advise about the point where to insert the required code. I have found a user exit at the point where batch numbe is created manually.
    Please advise.

    As per SAP Batch definition Batch is the quantity or partial quantity of a certain material or product that has been produced according to the same recipe, and represents one homogenous, non- reproducible unit with unique specifications. So logically you cannot have same batch number for two materials.
    If you want to find out the relation between batches of header material and by product that is produced during production, you can use Batch Information Cockpit.
    To see batch details in Batch Cockpit (T-code: BMBC), You have activate Batch where used function in IMG using path : Batch management-->Batch Where used list --> make setting for batch where used list.

  • Simple hide a layer script need help

    Hi,
    This will be an easy one for someone. I’m new to scripting so please be patient. All I need to do is have a script that hide a layer named "L2_NonTranslatedParts". I have tried to piece together some code but I have failed. Can anyone help? I'm also not sure why we are defineing "watermark" as a var. It was in the code I cut up.
    var myDoc = app.documents.item(0);
    var L2_NonTranslatedParts = "Watermark";
    try{app.activeDocument.layers.item(L2_NonTranslatedParts).visible = false;}
    catch(_){alert("Can't find layer: " + L2_NonTranslatedParts);exit();};

    Yes, that is a good question. Really
    app.activeDocument.layers.item("L2_NonTranslatedParts").visible = false;
    should be sufficient.

  • Needed config settings for automatic storage location

    hi,
    sap gurus,
    configuration settings needed for automatic storage location at sales order level.
    it is coming by using OVL3 at delivery document level.
    but we need it sales order level.
    regards,
    balaji.t

    Hi Balaji,
    In standard Storage location cannot be defaulted in Sales order. OVL3 is for determining the storage location in Delivery.
    However to map your requirement of having Storage location determination in the Sales order do the following:
    In the Plant Setting IMG> Enterprise Structure> Definition> Logistics - General> Define, copy, delete, check plant. Here select your plant and go to Address for this plant. Here in Search term 2 Maintain some alphabet say "A". Now ask your ABAPer to write a user exit for determining the Storage location if the Sales order has the same Plant used in it with search term as "A" then use table V_TVKOL (storage location determination table) and fetch the correct storage location based on Shipping Point + Plant + Storage conditions.
    Hope the same works for you!!

  • Is there a script available for arranging elements for optimal use of the printable area?

    I'm starting a sticker printing business using Illustrator as my main layout and illustration too. I was wondering if there's a script available for automatically arranging a set of elements on a page so that they optimally take up the available space. I figured this would save me some on material costs.
    If I were to create a script from scratch, can someone give me pointers? I'm a casual AI user but I have Javascript experience.
    Thanks.

    The below image shows the 4 different die sizes, the artwork fits inside the dotted box so make sure that we have room around the die and the drill holes are assigned as well.
    The name of each die is listed above it, and the size is listed below it.
    The script is set to take each die and place it on the template until it is full, then it will save it and move it to the folder where it will be grabbed and preped for printing.
    Everything below the **** is the script.

    Hope this helps someone get one created because if they can make one that doesn't depend on the premade dies that would help me out quite a bit because some of the dies that we make are an odd size so we have to place them manually.

    I'm trying to generate a depth pass from rack focus. Basically where I've gotten to right now is importing the rack focus footage each frame from as an individual layer. Then running Auto Blend Layers and letting photoshop do it's magic to mask out each layer's out of focus information. This basically gives me a bunch of layers that tell me exactly where the camera's focus was at each frame in the shot. What I need to do now is Add a color overlay (maybe in the form of a layer style) that starts at 100% black and goes to 100% white stepping through each layer.
    Right now I have this, which is so very far away.
    try {
        var docName = app.activeDocument.name;  // save the app.activeDocument name before duplicate.
        var layerCount = app.documents[docName].layers.length; //figure out how many layers
        var colorStep = 255/layerCount; //figure out how big the step of grey is between each layer.
            for (i = 1; i <= layerCount; i++){
                my_layer = [docName].layer(i);
                my_layer.applyStyle (solidFill) //add the color overly layer style
                //color the overlay using the colorStep information and layer number
    What I want is an end result that looks like this.

    The only focus stacking I have done is with macro photography. Below is a script that adds the layer effects but the results with my macro samples did not turn out looking good. Maybe you will have better luck with the type of photography you are doing.
    function ftn1(r,g,b) {
        var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref = new ActionReference();
            ref.putProperty( charIDToTypeID('Prpr'), charIDToTypeID('Lefx') );
            ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Lyr '), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
            var effectsDesc = new ActionDescriptor();
            //effectsDesc.putUnitDouble( charIDToTypeID('Scl '), charIDToTypeID('#Prc'), 333.333333 );
                var colorfillDesc = new ActionDescriptor();
                colorfillDesc.putBoolean( charIDToTypeID('enab'), true );
                colorfillDesc.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Md  '), charIDToTypeID('BlnM'), charIDToTypeID('Nrml') );
                colorfillDesc.putUnitDouble( charIDToTypeID('Opct'), charIDToTypeID('#Prc'), 100.000000 );
                    var rgbcDesc = new ActionDescriptor();
                    rgbcDesc.putDouble( charIDToTypeID('Rd  '), r );
                    rgbcDesc.putDouble( charIDToTypeID('Grn '), g );
                    rgbcDesc.putDouble( charIDToTypeID('Bl  '), b );
                colorfillDesc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('Clr '), charIDToTypeID('RGBC'), rgbcDesc );
            effectsDesc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('SoFi'), charIDToTypeID('SoFi'), colorfillDesc );
        desc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('T   '), charIDToTypeID('Lefx'), effectsDesc );
        executeAction( charIDToTypeID('setd'), desc, DialogModes.NO );
    try {
        // var docName = app.activeDocument.name;  // save the app.activeDocument name before duplicate.
        // var layerCount = app.documents[docName].layers.length; //figure out how many layers
        var docRef = app.activeDocument;
        var layerCount = docRef.artLayers.length;
        var colorStep = 255/layerCount; //figure out how big the step of grey is between each layer.
        var color = 255;
        for (i = 0; i <= layerCount; i++){
            docRef.activeLayer = docRef.artLayers[i];
            ftn1( color, color, color);
            color=color-colorStep;
    }catch(e){}

  • Script for using layer name in Save for Web command

    I am using the Save for Web  command (Illustrator CS2) to export layers to CSS so that each layer is  saved as a different jpg.  The only issue I have is that I want the  layer name to be part of the file name, but layer name is not an option  when I look at the "Edit Output settings" dialog for saving files.  Is  there anyway I can do this? I do not have experience writing or working with scripts.
    For example. My fiel name is flower.ai.  I will have 20  different layers (each containing a different color of the same image)  and want the exported file to be flower-scarlet.jpg,  flower-cranberry,jpg, etc. Right now I am looking at renaming all the  files manually, but as I am creating 40 images per product on my website, this will be very time consuming.
    Thanks in advance
    Christine

    Btw.. to make it work for JPGs, change the PNG options to the following:
    var options = new ExportOptionsJPEG();
            options.antiAliasing = false;
            options.optimization = false;
            options.artBoardClipping = true;
            options.qualitySetting = 100; // value of 0 to 100, 60 is medium, 100 is perfect
            options.blurAmount = 0;
            options.verticalScale = 100;
            options.horizontalScale = 100;
