Mail - script needed
Apologies if this is the wrong place or if it is crass to offer to pay for assistance but I need a rule or is it a script which will send to the "Draft" mailbox any new mail which I try to send to certain specific addresses between specific times i.e. send to Draft if after midnight on a Thursday until 10:00am on Friday if the address line contains "Steve".
Thanks

It would be more efficient to go to the _Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard > Mail_ forum

This.getField error in app.Mail script
I am having trouble with an app.Mail script I have created in a Lifecycle form. If I place a this.getField("field_name") line in the script Acrobat Javascript debugger states that the this.getField is not a function. Also the this.path line returns as undefined in the email message body if bypass the this.getField line. Perhaps I am mixing up Javascript script and Lifecycle scripting? If so what needs to be changed for Lifecycle? I know the app.mail script works without the var lines, but once I add those in is when the problems pop up. Script listed below. Thanks!
var cMyMsg = this.path
var Sub = this.getField("Field_Name").value;
app.mailMsg({bUI: true, cTo: "[email protected], cSubject: Sub, cMsg: cMyMsg});Hi,
Your script is written using Acrobat JavaScript, whereas because you are working in LiveCycle Designer you need to make the script compatible with the LiveCycle Designer form JavaScript.
The code could be changed to this which works in LiveCycle Designer
var cMyMsg = event.target.path
// Assuming the Field_Name field is in the same subform as the button to run the code
var Sub = Field_Name.rawValue;
app.mailMsg({bUI: true, cTo: "[email protected]", cSubject: Sub, cMsg: cMyMsg});
Hope this helps

What is a good resource for pre-made PHP Form Mailer Scripts.
This is for use with a website hosted on GoDaddy.
My client has a few requirements that the GoDaddy script does
not offer (and the script I chose from GoDaddy is uneditable). I
know nothing about scripting but thought I could use a pre-made
script and modify it...is that crazy thinking on my part?
Here are the special requests from my client:
- They'd like to see the time the form was submitted in EST
(the GoDaddy script puts the time in military time in another time
zone in the subject line). Can this appear in the body of the email
as well as the subject line?
- They'd like the form to be sent to the person submitting it
as well as to their company
- They would like to be able to REPLY TO the email they
receive with the form submission and have it be addressed to the
person submitting the form. The current script has the email
addressed to themselves (the company) if they click REPLY TO, so
they are replying to themselves
- Although this has nothing to do with the Form Mailer script
as far as I can guess, they asked that the person filling out the
form be able to print it prior to submitting (in my opinion,
though, if i can have a copy of the submission sent to the
submitter, there's no reason for this). But if anyone knows how to
do this, please let me know.
- Finally, the client wants to know if each submission can
have a unique tracking number assigned to it.
Thank you all. Any feedback is appreciated.
RichardHi,
I can without any doubt recommend Forms 2 Go:
http://www.bebosoft.com/products/formstogo/index.php
Very easy to use and even someone like me who don't know a
lot of
programming, use it extensively.

I need a recommendation for a PHP calendar script. It should
have both a
large display for use on a single page as well as a small one
for use in
a sidebar, like on a home page. The script needs to be able
to handle
links from within an event and must be easy for a user to
update.
And finally, it must integrate easily into an existing
design.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Indesign CS5.5 Relink Script needs help
Hi, I'm trying to relink images in an InDesign CS5.5 file to a different server using a script. This is what I have so far, but when I run the script I get errors and can't relink because "Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission, or the file may be in use by another application". Does anyone know how to make this script work? I'm fairly new to scripting.
Here is the script I have:
tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5.5"
tell document 1
set linkList to links
set errInfo to "" -- We'll display error if we can't relink an item
repeat with x in linkList
if (x's status) is not normal then -- I usually check for any link that has an error
-- This should only return an AppleScript path with ":" separators
set linkPath to (x's file path) as string
if "Volumes/Calendars_2013 FPO" is in linkPath then
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "Volumes/Calendars_2013 FPO"
set linkPath to (linkPath's text items) -- Create a list of text items
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "Volumes/Calendars_2013"
set linkPath to (linkPath as string) -- Concatenate with new path
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "" -- Reset TIDs
try
-- Need to make our string (path) into an alias path
relink x to alias linkPath
try
update x -- This can be helpful
end try
on error err
-- We'll store link name if error occurs
set errInfo to (errInfo & return & x's name)
end try
end if
end if
end repeat
-- If an error occurs while trying to relink, we'll display it
if (count errInfo) > 0 then display dialog ("Can't relink:" & errInfo)
end tell
end tell
--HectorI just tried adding collens to the end of the folder path. For some reason the script skipped the relink line. Below is the code with your update. I'm thinking its not finding the images because the script needs to make a list of all the images and choose the one that matches the missing image.
tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5.5"

a erase my e mail account, need help they werw my job e MAIL
It's a disgraceful failure of any customer service by BT. Had my Btinternet email account since they launched backin ... was it 1997? Everything digital in my life is spidered into the account now. Its been used as my registration point for virtually everything for the past fifteen years. And now getting less than 30 days notice to try and find every single product and website I have registered with and then change all my details?!?!? Hell, I'd need about a year to do so; and then I would still probably have missed some! By their actions, they potentially cutting me off from products that I have purchased & tied to this email address.
Add to that the fact that their email that comes into your inbox sources from some dodgy 'analytics planning' website, as all the links route through there... I had serious doubts as to its legitimacy and forwarded it to their abuse contact & opened a case regarding it. Highly unprofessional of them - especially when you consider that we are repeatedly advised by BT to never click on links unless we are sure of their validity. And should never, ever, enter our account details on any other site other than theirs.
Shoddy BT, very very shoddy. I would expect a higher standard of business from such a company. And would definitely expect a proper notification click through to come up regarding this service change when I log into email. I would say a good proportion of their users will deregard the email as a phishing attempt. **bleep** cowboy operation. -
Yahoo mail script -safari unresponsive
We are regularly getting a message saying that a Yahoo mail script is making Safari (3.1.2 for Mac) unresponsive. We are running Leopard 10.5.5. Any solutions??? Thanks.
In addition to being unresponsive, it seems to slow down the Macbook as a whole, but we can't find a remedy. Any ideas would be appreciated.

E-mail script size is miniscule and cannot get it back to normal size
While scrolling on the e-mail site the script suddenly decreased in size to the point it is not legible. It seems the page size somehow shrunk and the script size decreased. Have tried to bring use cursor to bring screen size back down to bottom of monitor without any success. When using Internet Explorer e-mail script is normal.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.<br /> -
Many of us know Outlook mails (pst files) can be stored using a PST Mail app to review the old mails when needed on an iPad. I am considering a switch to Mac OS. But I am wondering if the same is possible. What would be the file format of the emails on a Mac OS and the app equivalent of the PST Mail app? Thanks for helping me out. Durai

Thanks for your response and yes I understand what you are saying. Maybe you could explain why "email users" hate HTML email with a passion.
These tend to be technical users who have a more purist attitude about email. They prefer that email be text-only, and consider HTML formatting to be superfluous for most messages. And I do think they have a point. If you have 100 plain-text emails and 100 HTML emails, you will notice that the HTML emails take up noticeably more disk space. And if the HTML email senders have loaded down their default emails with background images, signatures with corporate logos and winmail.dat attachments and all manner of embedded ornamentation, and (I never even thought people went this far) animations, then a simple email reply like "Thanks! I'll see you this evening," ends up carrying an tremendous additional amount of file size and network bandwidth overhead just to carry those six words. It not only means more disk space consumed, but it ripples all through the system: More space is required for backing up and archiving your emails, plus more mail server space and network bandwidth are consumed per message. Purists see this as an incredible waste of resources.
The message body of at text email can simply be "Thanks! I'll see you this evening."
The HTML version, at a bare minimum, must be
{html}
{p}"Thanks! I'll see you this evening."{/p}
{/html}
(replaced angle brackets with curly brackets so Apple Forums won't try and format it)
Already that's almost double the amount of characters required to send the message, just to format it in HTML. And that's if no fonts, styles, graphics, or media have been applied. If they are, the number of actual characters sent balloons dramatically.
I'm in the middle. I don't hate HTML email, I'll even turn it on when I think formatting will help my message. But I like to use disk space efficiently, so I've set plain text as my default for sending messages. -
I work with InDesign doing text layout. I have used scripts, but have never had the time to learn JavaScript. I need what I assume is a fairly simple script. The script needs to do the following:
1. Open a document.
2. Ignore the missing font dialog box.
3. Load all text style from another file, with the styles from that file overwriting the styles in the current document.
4. Save the open document with the same name.
The script needs to be able to batch process all of the document in a folder.
If this is simple enough to do with several lines of code, I would appreciate it if someone could help me out. If it is more complex than that, I can possibly pay.Hi kwilson68, could you contact me by email? I might be able to help you out.

[Subject line edited by moderator to indicate nature of request]Using PHP to process an online form and send the input by email is very simple. The mail() function takes a minimum of three arguments, namely: the address the mail is being sent to, the subject line, and the body of the email as a single string. The reason some people use scripts like form2mail.php is because they don't have the knowledge or patience to validate the user input to make sure it's safe to send.
Rather than attempt to trawl through your complex form looking for the problems, I would suggest starting with a couple of simple tests.
First of all, create a PHP page called mailtest.php containing the following script:
<?php
$to = '[email protected]'; // use your own email address
$subject = 'PHP mail test';
$message = 'This is a test of the mail() function.';
$sent = mail($to, $subject, $message);
if ($sent) {
echo 'Mail was sent';
} else {
echo 'Problem sending mail';
?>
Save the script, upload it to your server, and load it into a browser. If you see "Mail is sent", you're in business. If not, it probably means that the hosting company insists on the fifth argument being supplied to mail(). This is your email address preceded by -f. Change the line of code that sends the mail to this:
$sent = mail($to, $subject, $message, null, '[email protected]');
Obviously, replace "[email protected]" with your own email address.
If this results in the mail being sent successfully, you will need to adapt the code in form2mail.php to accept the fifth parameter. You need to change the following line, which is a few lines from the end of the script:
if (!mail($MailToAddress, $MailSubject, $mailMessage,$mailHeader))
Change it to this:
if (!mail($MailToAddress, $MailSubject, $mailMessage,$mailHeader, '[email protected]'))
Again, use your own email address instead of "[email protected]".
Once you have determined whether you need the fifth argument, test form2mail.php with a very simple form like this:
<form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="form2mail.php">
<p>
<label for="name">Name:</label>
<input type="text" name="name" id="name" />
</p>
<p>
<label for="email">Email:</label>
<input type="text" name="email" id="email" />
</p>
<p>
<label>
<input type="checkbox" name="options[]" value="boat cleaning" id="options_0" />
Boat cleaning</label>
<br />
<label>
<input type="checkbox" name="options[]" value="RV cleaning" id="options_1" />
RV cleaning</label>
<br />
<label>
<input type="checkbox" name="options[]" value="motorcycle cleaning" id="options_2" />
Motorcycle cleaning</label>
</p>
<p>
<input type="submit" name="send" id="send" value="Submit" />
</p>
</form>
If that works, you can start to make the form more complex and add back your JavaScript validation.
