Mails duplicated in waste basket

under snow leopard, when I delete a message in mail it can appear up to 3 times in the waste basket. This was not happening with leopard.
Any hint or bug fix ?

I upgraded to Lion....and the problem disappeared. It seems that Snow Leopard was just an intermediate OS, not really well debugged ?!

This worked, I used the method described in this link http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=365156, and opened the Mozilla profile screen with the terminal on my mac, using the language given in the links. Then I duplicated my original profile to save the bookmarks, etc. Put them in a folder listed Duplicate profile with the date. With the open profile screen, I deleted my original profile, created new profile folder and then a new profile. Note that profile cannot be created in the system library, it must be created on the disc, because the library will not allow writing into it. After I created my new profile folder, I dragged all my old information into it, and it worked. Firefox closed and the error disappeared. You must be VERY careful to make sure Firefox is closed anytime you are doing anything with the profile folders. I think that is what caused my original problem.

The iPad cannot get a virus unless it is jailbroken like Menneisyys stated above. Reboot your iPad and see if that helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't work, quit the mail app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Sent mail duplicated as draft

Mail has started duplicating most of my outgoing email messages in my "drafts" box. Is there a way to make it stop?

I'm having Sent mail end up again in Draft, but am getting a Swish and confirmed deliveries. This should be a easy fix...right? Anybody have the latest/greatest idea? I recently changed over to Imap from Pop to allow multiple deliveries to devices; this is when it started. Using a T1 service and my account there is not experiencing this when logged onto/reveiw mail on it.

E-mails duplicated

When I log into my e-mails in windows mail I get a duplicate set of addresses resulting in double amounts of e-mails .. Any solutions please most welcome.. Echo69

Mail duplicating outbound gmails and adding uneccessary tags

My gmail address is [email protected], which is annoying as I originally set this up in the uk where there is a trademark dispute, so I have the 'return to' address set to [email protected], which works fine.
I tried to send mail from Mail (in OSX) using this gmail account and the following happened.
- one mail was sent as [email protected]
- one mail was sent as [email protected]
When I checked the mail in gmail, I also noticed that it had added extra gmail tags, which I had not asked it to do, and they also didn't conform with either the standard gmail 'built in' tags, nor did they match any of my custom tags.
Why is it sending extra mails?
Why is it tagging stuff?

Why does all my mail viewing in mail appear to have my 'login picture' top right, I never asked it to do this, and I hope it is not sending this out with the mails, if not then what's the point of it?

You are probably using gmail's SMTP server and asking mail to move sent mail to the Sent folder.
Turn off the option to keep sent mail in the sent folder in Mail. When you use gmail's smtp server (or IMAP) the mail will be in your sent folder automatically.
Your photo in Mail only shows up for you, unless the recipient is also using Mail and has your pictures in his/her address book.

Mail keeps duplicating emails in draft and in trash since I installed maverick. How can this be fixed?

Ever since I installed Maverick I haved had issues with my mail duplicating itself numerous times before it is sent in the trash and some in the draft. Has anyone else had this issue and can it be fixed. I have a macbook pro retina.

I wanted to send a web page address in an e-mail.

I did the usual to be able to send a web page address in and e-mail. a pop up window came up saying that my current e-mail app no longer did this And to click here to install a new email app. So i did this and the usual desk top mail icon that looked like a stamp went away. Now I have an icon that has a white page like a piece of paper with the 3 symbol {pen pencil} type thing you se on the apple application icon. I click on this new icon and a small cloud of dust appears on my desk top and no windows appears. I go to the application list and cant find the old app. it wasnt in the waste basket. what happened?

What rules to use to stop unwanted mail

I keep receiving unwanted mails from Japan and tried to use rules to have these directly put in the waste but it does not work. I for example used the following rules:
if one of     contains     the mail address in question
transfer the message               to waste basket
I also tried
if            from              the mail address in question
transfer the message          to waste basket
but the messages keep coming.
Has anybody an idea how to go about it ?

Do not put the whole address string in the rule as it probably changes slightly for each e-mail. I always put in the From field only one or two words in the address that are common to the messages I want to send to junk or delete, i. e. comcast.

Why do some emails in Mail get moved to the On My Mac trash when I delete them and some get moved to the Gmail trash

When I delete messages from my gmail account in Mail some messages get moved to the waste basket section "On My Mac" and some get moved to the wawste basket section "Gmail." Why is this?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

E-mail attachments appear as viewable page- want icon only

I send many e-mails a day with word and pdf attachments to them, to clients. Two things I struggle with and hope to solve.
1- I use the Mac mail system. When I attach a document, sometimes only the icon shows, and sometimes the whole page shows. From reading other posts, it looks like if the attachment is only 1 page, the whole page shows on my screen. I DO NOT want that. I print my e-mails for my files and when the whole page shows, an e-mail that should be 1/2 a page turns into a 4-page e-mail. A waste of paper and space in my files. How do I make all the attachments appear as icons? I have tried right click, "show as icon" and that makes only the icon show on the screen, but when I print the e-mail, the entire page of 1-page attachments print (although smaller), making the e-mail way too long. HELP!
2- is there a way, when I attach files, for them to appear in a separate line at the top of the message, like for windows/outlook users? I absolutely hate that whereever my cursor is at the time I do the attachment, that's where the attachment goes to. I often compose e-mail and then go back to revise something, forget to move the cursor, attach, have to delete, and go back and reattach.
Also I get Windows users who get very confused by my e-mails and keep replying and saying there was no attachment. I don't know where attachments show up on the other end but I'm getting issues with that, too.

Can I restore Mails that I still see in Mail from cache?

Hi,
When I connected a new iPhone to my macbook (Os X Lion) Mail duplicated my email account. The "new" duplicate said all mails were new and unread and the account used some pop and smtp settings that had changed months ago. So I deleted the unwanted duplicate. Now, Mail seems to have deleted all the messages in both accounts.
Mail is still open. And I can see all my messages in the remaining "old" correct account. I can still see all the sender adresses, the title of the emails, even the text is displayed in the short overview in the left pane. When I maximize the left pane by shifting the "complete mail text pane" to the right the text displayed for each mail is even extended. So the info is still all out there somewhere in my cache. However I cannot open the single mails. He just can't load them.
I went to the apple store yesterday and they had a look but not the slightest idea how to deal with the problem.
I had a look at the mail library folder and except for the new mails I recieved after doomsday there is nothing at all. The "com.apple.mail" folder in the cache wasn't of any help either.
Has anybody an idea how to save/restore my mails as long as they exist in the ominous cache I didn't find yet?
It's just so annoying to see all the mails still in front of you, see the text and not knowing how to make a quick backup or restoration of them.

Why do we keep getting Verizon flyers about FIOS through snail mail for years?

According to Verizon's web site and phone calls for the last several years, FIOS and DSL services are unavailable in my two house areas. It only shows DirecTV (over the air (OTA)'s local broadcast channels are enough for my family) and phone services (already have it). Why does Verizon keep sending the snail mails/flyers in wasting time and papers to us?

I will be surprised if anyone here on this user-to-user forum has a valid answer to your question, but I've had a similar question in mind for some time. Similar in that we constantly get snail mail advertisements for FiOS service when we already have it. We're on a 2 year contract and thus not eligible for any of the promo packages they're pushing to new customers in the ads. The mailings, in fact, have the effect of rubbing salt in a wound, reminding us that new customers can get a better deal than we existing customers can.
I can't help thinking Verizon is wasting a ton of money on mailings to existing customers, money that if saved might be used to avoid the recent rate increases.

With iPhoto make sure you are viewing your photo library with "Photos" selected in the side bar. This should show you all your photos.
Then you simply select the photo you want to trash and on your keyboard hit the "delete" button.
This will move the photo into the "Trash" folder.
Now change your view by selecting the trash can icon in the side bar. This will show you all the photos in the trash bin.
Now, go up to the iPhoto menu and choose "Empty iPhoto Trash"
