Major problems with Flash CS5

Hello,
I work with a big FLA, more than 400 MB, although compiled SWF is just measly 2.5 MB or so. Recently I've reached a dead end with my project, because flash eats up to something like 1.2 GB RAM and pretty much stops performing: wouldn't let me add more items to the library and keeps throwing that "low memory" message, also keeps crashing numerous times just after SWF gets compiled with "test movie". Most of the space is used by imported to the library SWF files wich automatically generate sequence of bitmap files for every frame which takes all that memory obviously. This is a huge problem and I don't know how to solve it. Is there any solution for this kind of situation?

Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but did you say you were importing SWF's to the library? Would it be possible to load the swf's externally instead using actionscript, for example create a movie clip the size of the swf file, then use the getURL function and place the name of the swf in the input field so it would read getURL("myswf");
NOTE: it would be easiest to create a copy of all the swf files you will be using and just dump them in the same folder as your current fla.
Been a while since I've loaded swfs like this so the AS2 syntax might be a bit off. if worst comes to worst use the script assist to find the exact syntax used for this kind of thing. Hope this helps.

Problem with Flash CS5

Hi there,
I got a problem with my Flash IDE. When unticked "Automatically declare stage instance" for AS3 programming, I encounter an problem with my TLFTextField, debugger fire an Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
The object is very basic, containing two TLFTextField called respectively title and info, my as3 class is very basic as well:

I have used your example, and built a FLA file that uses it. There is a trick that isn't so obvious. When you make a document class, it gets instantiated before the objects on the stage. So, in the constructor, I added an eventListener for Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE for one of the TLF objects. Once that gets fired, you can use it as you would normally. I've uploaded my example here:

Major problems with CS5

We just moved to CS5 and are having major problems with crashing and losing text. I haven't seen these kind of issues since beginning the Indesign/Incopy workflow way back in CS2. I've got dozens of users (Indesign and Incopy) slamming me with complaints of crashing. Indesign crashes when exporting to Incopy (usually when exporting a layer), Incopy users are complaining of crashing when peforming copy/paste either from Word or from within Incopy. Also have had incidents where the text in the Incopy story just disappears or the stories corrupt and will not open in the layout or as a standalone file. Trying to open one will crash the application.
Other departments in our organization who do not use Incopy are not experiencing crashing issues with Indesign CS5, so I have to believe the problem is Incopy.

Try moving everything to a local harddrive and working on a file there. If you don't get the crashing then you can start checking the network. And please, one thread is enough.

Some websites have an internal mute or volume setting. If that's not the issue, see below.
From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
           ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...
In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
          Delete All Site Data and Settings
then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.

Problems with Flash thumbnail gallery

Hi there,
I am an artist trying to remake my website...I have a picture of a window on my homepage. The window is a movie. When clicked on, the window lights turn on and a grid of thumbnail pics appear. Each thumbnail is a movie clip. When a thumbnail is clicked on, the movie plays and a larger image appears over the window. The problem is, the window is still active underneath the large image, so if I click on the large image, I am really clicking on the window movie clip underneath, and the thumbnail grid disappears-starting the window movie clip over. How do I make the window clip inactive after it is initially clicked?
Also, I would like the larger images to end their movie clips after another thumbnail is clicked, so that there aren't large images piled up on top of each other.
Is there anyone that can help?

First off, thanks so much for your continued help...
So, I changed my design a little and format. Now I'm using as3, with Flash CS5.
My thumbnail gallery is still based on the same concept, I want a movie clip of a window to be clicked on that reveals a thumb grid, but now the thumbnail gallery should appear over the window, and the large portfolio images appear in the blank space to the right. I followed a tutorial for the gallery, here's my code on the main timeline:

I'm not sure this is the right forum, so if the admin want to put this tread in the right place, please, do it!
I'm going to buy a site template provided with fla source, but it is developed in CS3.
Do you know if there are same problem opening and modifing this kind of fla with Flash CS5?

there is no problem opening fla files, made with earlier versions of flash pro, in later flash pro versions (except for as2 containing files and flash pro after cs6).

Do not be fooled into thinking you can get a head-start on a project by starting with a web template offered for sale. There may be some well-coded templates sold online but I have never seen one.

try forcing internet recover, hold 3 keys - command, option, r - you should see a spinning globe
most people will tell you to do both pram and smc resets (google) and if you still have issues, either clean install (easy) or troubleshoot (hard)

10.9.3 = major problem with fast user switching

I've found a major problem with the 10.9.3 update with my 27" iMac, you probably won't see it if your on a laptop. I did all the updates in past few days i.e., 10.9.3 combo update, iTunes 11.2.1.
Afterward I noticed a bug when Fast User Switching i.e. FUS. I have 5 accounts but the bug can be replicated with only 2.
I login to userA have some windows open but you can just open a Finder window. Now make the window at least half the with of the screen and move it to the right side of the screen. Then login in to userB and setup the windows the same way as userA. Now FUS to userA and then back to userB. You will notice that the Finder window has been moved to the upper left corner of the screen. This problem happened's to all user accounts you login to except the first account you logged into.
Since I didn't know what update caused the problem I had to use Time Machine to revert to my last version of 10.9.2. I then double checked the for the bug and sure enough everything was working fine. I now was going to install one update at a time and to see which one was causing the bug. So I installed 10.9.3 first and found the bug immediately.
I now know what's happening. When the switch occurs the screen is resized to about the equivalent of a 13" MBP. At this point the windows that fall some ware outside that size get moved to the upper left corner and resized. Then the screen resizes to normal but it's too late, all the window have moved and been resized to fit the 13" screen size.
You can reproduce this effect by going to System Preferences and selecting Display and then select the Scaled radio button. No select the smallest size, say, 1280 x 720. Now select the Best for display radio button again. You will now see all the windows you have open that were too big no moved and resized to the upper left corner. I know why the Mac moves the windows, it's so you don't have any windows stuck off screen.
Now when I say 13" it could be some other size but it's about that size give or take.

Yes, it's when you user Fast User Switching.
Here's snapshot before the screen resized. Ignore the window in the lower right, I moved it from the upper left before taking the screen shot.
I hate to say it but I'm glad I'm not the only one with this bug.

Splash Screen for Android with Flash CS5.5

How can I make a SplashScreen with Flash CS5.5 or just with AIR/AS3 codes. I need it while the App/Game is loading...

the key difference is, the user stated a preloading swf needed to embed the image in order to display before the whole apk is loaded.

Problem with ID CS5 to epub

I have the following problem with Indesign CS5.
After placing correctly my pdf doc into ID CS5 and exporting it for epub, the exported epub file is generated with only small size. I mean when i opened the epub file with Adobe digital edition, i can not maximums the size of the doc. I think the problem is that ID CS5 is added a page number for only the first page in the right bottom of the first page only. This will makes the doc to be displayed with maximum only by adding an extra blank page to the right of each generated page which contains only a page number, so that I can not change the display size in Adobe digital edition. However, Adobe digital edition is working well for other e-books.
How can I remove the page number on the first page and make the epub file to be displayed with normal size.

I have problem with Flash Player. Full screen doesn't work correctly. Turning off hardware acelleration helps but I want this option to work.

Problem exist only on YouTube. When i want get full screen, I have black screen with audio. If I click few times full screen button it helps, but I want to go to full screen by one click.
If i turn off hardware acceleration everything is ok but vids looks terrible.
I have this problem with Flash Player 10. No 9 works good, but some websites wants no. 10

Generaly FP works, but problem is that i must press few times full screen button. Now i have turn off hardware accelleration, but movies are quite bad.
I have already installed newest graphic drivers but it didn't help.
Everything was good unless Flash Player and Mozilla notificated that update is necessary :<
