Make buttons

In Flash, I want to create a button that does something when it is clicked on. For example, if you click on the button once or if you press on the keyboard "enter" a new URL will pop up that's just one example.
I have a general idea how to make a button but, i am unsure how you make the button do something when it is pressed on. I assume you will need to use the Sprite class or MouseEvent code.
Has i am new to ActionScript 3.0 i would appreciate if users on the forum can give me some examples or provide me some tutorials i can read or watch to give me better insight.

Your request is too general. There are likely a ton of videos you can look thru if you search Google. Try using search terms like "Flash create animated buttons" and "Flash button tutorial"

Go to destination is unsupported in DPS. You should be using go to url with a navto: command.

How to make buttons work in Interactive Adobe Forms

Hi Experts,
I am new to interactive form. Though i have worked in normal/non-Interactive form, i do not know how to make buttons work in interactive adobe forms using ABAP (I don't know JAVA). Can any one help me out and walk me through to how to code in ABAP to make buttons work.

Just create a new button and type your text in the Text field of it and set the text position as inside and set include text in highlight option.

Can't make buttons hidden in normal state.

I've been reading the boards about how to make buttons hidden in the normal state and that all you have to do is turn the opacity down to 0, but that doesn't seem to be working for me. The buttons (such as the triangle or solid line built in to DVDSP) just turn grey.
Is there something I am missing?
Please advise.

Wow, you just said the same thing. First, when you say "Forms 2.1" do you mean "Developer 2.1", which included Forms 5.0? Regardless, are you aware that these Forms versions are about 15 or more years old?
What you are trying to do is still unclear. Are you trying to output records to a text file formated to csv? If you need assistance, please provide some clarification as to what you are trying to accomplish.

Just to add a little on what Gerd said, for web deployed forms your icon files must be of type .gif
You cannot have .ico files in web deployed forms

If you're using client/server technology, you also specify the UI_ICON registry and put your icons under that directory. In client server you can use .ico files

the navagational buttons to have some flair. I can't code yet, but

editor, whether
it be Microsoft Paint, Photoshop Elements, Fireworks,
Photoshop, Xara, etc.
Make the button graphics in your graphics editor, and place
them on the page

either right click the keyframe and go to convert to blank keyframe, or
delete the keyframe and add a blank keyframe instead, or just erase
everything in the keyframe. Whenever you make a new keyframe, it will bring
over whatever is present in the previous keyframe unless you have flash
create a blank keyframe.

Make Buttons reappear

Hi all
I can create Buttons in an Applet, make them usable, make them disappear, but how the hell can i mek them reappear when i don't want them to there all the time.
the "add" method did not work for that, at least not outside the init() context. but to use it within the init context i'd have to have a program like this
x is defined globally
init()...
do {/nothing} while(x == false;)
and x can be changed if a button is pressed
but like this the whole thing doesn't even start off.
A last question? I am new in ojject orientated programming and fear that I did get the concept of it a little wrong by having trouble like this. Do I?

Can you make buttons appear "on success" on quiz slide?

I'm not an expert Captivate user and don't know Javascript, so please excuse my ignorance if this question seems strange.
I have a Captivate 6 project with several quiz slides peppered throughout the entire file. In other words, the quiz slides are not grouped together. Each slide, including the quiz slides, has a forward button and a back button.
I would like for users to move forward and backward through the presentation in a linear fashion as they like, and this is working well. However, it would be nice if users weren't able to skip answering the quiz questions. I would like the buttons to appear after the user has answered the quiz question correctly, and then I would like the buttons to stay on the slide thereafter.
Is this possible? Do you have a Javascript resource I could use for the "on success" action, or what other solutions do you recommend?

When you are talking about the default buttons Back and Next that you find on question slides, you don't have much control over them. As you probably did see they do not even appear as separate objects on the timeline. And I doubt that Javascript could realize what you want.
Try first to understand how the work flow of question slides is designed:

You can drag the Next button under the Clear button (see blog post), normally Next during a Quiz is not needed, since the second step (Press Y or click on the slide) will move to the next slide.
However the Back button is a more tricky button if you really want to have it. Maybe, didn't check it out, try to hide the back button to the user (make it transparent without a stroke) and have an image appear on top of that button after the first step on the question slide. The invisible Back under the image will remain active, it even has absolute priority over other objects.

Make button invisble when movie starts to play

I have a FLV file in a FLVplayback component. Once it has
played and reaches the end I have a button become visible. But my
delimma is if I want to watch the movie again and click play, the
button remains. How can I make it go back to being invisible until
it reaches the end again?

The button that would be clicked is the play buttion of the
skin.swf file. Would I add the actionscript to the play butto in
that fla file? And if so, what happens if someone is playing the
video and pauses, then resume playing.

Ok I got it to work. first you have regester with google and get your header code that looks like this.

You will need to put this in the header of each web page, use iWeb seo tool, or there is a turtoral on Beond iWeb.

After you upload your page the only text that is translateable is the text you can hilight. so if you control click on a pice of text and it won't highlight it won't translate.

MAKE BUTTON CONDITIONAL DISPLAY IN A REPORT BASED ON STATUS OF COL VALUE

can anyone help me out with this issue.
Like I have a normal SQL report with buttons update,delete,insert and I wanted to display these buttons conditionally based on the value of the "status" column.
For Example: if the status columnvalue is 'DEV' then only display the buttons otherwise don't display them.

I would use a CASE statement in the select....
each CASE would be an img src tag for a different button if the button is an image.
does that make sense? I can include an example if you would like...
