Make spin tool default

Is there a way to default to the spin tool instead of the rotate tool when you activate a 3D model?

This is an easy one-liner. You can use one of two methods:
1) Add a script to your 3D annotation which contains only this
one line:
runtime.setCurrentTool( runtime.TOOL_NAME_SPIN );
2) Add a document javascript which contains only one line:
setToSpin = getAnnots3D(0)[0].context3D.runtime.setCurrentTool( runtime.TOOL_NAME_SPIN );
//(This assumes that your annotation is on page one and it is the
// only annotation on the page. That's what (0)[0] means.

  • How to make spin tool default

Someone already posted an answer how to make the spin tool default here http://forums.adobe.com/message/1146944#1146944
but my problem is I have absolutely no idea whatsoever to run a script. I tried a few things but they didn't work. Can someone explain this to me as if you'd be explaining it to your grandma? Heck, just walk me through it step-by-step if possible.
I have a deadline in a few days and I'm creating a 3D PDF from a SketchUp model I created and exported into Acrobat 3D. Basically what I need to do is make Acrobat 3D orbit a lot better. I can't send it to the clients the way it is by default. It's a joke. By default it's actually REALLY BAD. I either need the Rotate button removed(which I don't think is possible) or make the spin button default.
On a side note, the camerarotate.js script Adobe provides is horrible... no pan? Come on! Coming from SketchUp where the orbit works so perfect, Acrobat 3D is painful to use at times.
    Thanks guys.

    Hello Szarky,
-Create a .txt file containing the following line:
    runtime.setCurrentTool( runtime.TOOL_NAME_SPIN );
You can change its extension to .js by renaming it (file extensions got to set visible therefore)
-Double click your 3D Annotation with the advanced editing tool (image below)
    -Click on edit content
-Attach the Javascript under default script by browsing the .js or .txt file you created
    I hope it helps, Chuck

  • Preview.app make "move tool" default on PDFs

    Hi,
I'd like to make the "move tool" the default when opening PDF files. I guess that most people do read those files instead of selecting text - I wonder why "select text" is the default.
I am also aware of this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7881973&#7881973
Is there any (even hidden) way to accomplish this?
    Thanks.
    Stefan

That's because you're opening text documents, so it thinks you want the text tool. Try a jpg.
While it won't default to move, it won't default to text either. Move is only a ⌘-1.

  • I have Windows XP. In my tools menu, optons tab the box to make Firefox my default browser is missing. How do I get it back? Thank you.

I can't make Firefox my default browser. I have Windows XP and in the tools menu, options tab that selection is missing

Tools > Options >> '''Advanced''' -> General = at the bottom under System Defaults
BTW, the Firefox 3.5.x versions are supported any longer, you should upgrade to at least 3.6.20 or 6.0. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Can't find 'Make current properties default' in Text Tool

    Acrobat XI Pro
    11.0.06
    Win 8.1, 64 bit
I'm trying to change the default font size for my Add Text tool.
What I've been trying is creating a text box and adding some text in it.
Then I try right clicking in the box, on the text, after doing a Select All.
None of the boxes that pop up give me the option to 'Make Current Properties Default'.
What's the right way to change the defaults to Add Text?
    Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no way. I'd also like this to have. But you need to remind yourself that Acrobat is not a text editor.
All you can set in the preferences is font and font height for comments.

  • I am unable to make Firefox my default browser. Please help

I used to use Firefox as my default browser, and it worked as it should. I decided to try the Opera browser, and was not satisfied, and tried to switch my default back to Firefox. It would not switch. I uninstalled Opera, and once again tried to set Firefox as default....no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. It would not set as default. I also have IE and Chrome installed, and neither of them will let me set to default. So, basically, I have no default browser. When I go to my tools menu, and try to set Firefox as default, it says Firefox already is set as default. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • How to make utf-8 default encoding firefox 4.0

how to make utf-8 default encoding firefox 4.0

The default encoding that you set in Firefox/Tools > Options > Content is only used if a server doesn't send an encoding via the HTTP response header and if there is also no meta tag or other indication in the file.

  • Suggestion: make UTF8 as default encoding

JDeveloper still uses "System default" encoding for editor and compiler, not UTF8. Other tools, like IDEA uses UTF8 more than 5 years.
JDeveloper can be ajusted to use UTF8, but it is needed to make this in 3 places at last. If a new developer will not find this places, it will not use JDeveloper - currently, Unicode is a standatd. Example of big problems Character encoding again - nobody can help.
I suggest to make UTF8 as default in 11i.
    Reasons:
    1) user-friendly for new developers
    2) no difference to americans
    2) If Oracle developers will use UTF8 by default, they have a chance to find a plenty of little bugs. Mostly, this bugs are in a wizards wich uses XML,XSL,WebServices - just look in the message window.

Maybe it would be a good idea to really follow the right "system setting". On Linux, this is pretty clear, I guess it's just the current locale. On Windows, I don't think there is such thing. But everything is Unicode anyway in Windows, so I'd say UTF-8 would be quite a good thing.
Anyway, if everyone used utf-8 instead of the 8-bit national charsets, a great range of encoding problems wouldn't even exist. But sadly, I see many colleagues sticking with ISO-8859-1 because 'it just works, why change?'. Jdeveloper should try to encourage to use UTF-8 while still allowing all those sixties fans to use latin1 ;-)

  • Make current value default - Undo action

    Hi,
A simple question - when selecting with the right mouse button a control and pressing "Data Operations/Make Current Value default" how I can undo this operation? Imagine I set some control default value to something and after some time I changed my mind and I want to return the control to its initial value (as it comes when you place the control from the pallete -  "Set to factory value").  I was not able to figure out how to do this. Cntr - Z is not an option since it works only in the close vicinity of the operation (you can't Cntr-Z this operation after 2-3 hours of intensive work over the VI).
For example I set numeric control default value to 22, after some time I want to return it to initial state (in this particular case the "factory value" is 0). Well, I can reinitialize the value to 0 but it's different from setting it to "factory" settings.
    Thank you

I disagree with the idea that the default value is not a valuable tool.
One example is let's say you have a subVI that had a hardcoded constant, but in new applications, this value is to be fed in from the outside - i.e., the constant is to become a control connected to the connector pane.  This subVI is in a common library so it needs to maintain compatibility with older applications.
So you right-click on the constant to make it a control with the default value already set to the original constant value, connect it to the connector pane and set the connector to anything but required.  Now the new software has a connector to hook up to while, even though the old code will have to be recompiled, it won't break because, even though there is nothing wired to the control, the default value works just fine.
I can think lots of other things, but that is among the most useful thing I've done with default values.

  • Office 2013 click-to-run does not honor deselecting 'Make Outlook the default program' checkbox

We use an email client other than Microsoft Outlook (let's say Thunderbird)
Thunderbird is set as the default mail client for the machine (HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail\(default) set appropriately)
Occasionally, we launch Outlook (but absolutely do not want it as the default mail client for the machine).  About 30 seconds after launching Outlook, we see that the Windows default mail client changes to Microsoft Outlook. The 'Make Outlook the default
program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar' checkbox in File->Options is disabled.
Further investigation with ProcMon indicates that a SYSTEM service called integrator.exe starts up about 30 seconds after we launch Outlook.  This service changes the HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail\(default) registry key to be Microsoft Outlook.
We have tested with multiple non-Outlook email clients, and the behavior is always the same.
This only happens on click-to-run installs of Office 2013.  Regular installs of Office 2013 do not have the problem.  Older versions of Outlook do not have the problem.
What can we do to get Outlook to honor the 'Make Outlook the default program' setting?

    Kapaal -
Thanks for your reply.  Your blog post would certainly work if this was just a user-mode app that was making the change, but that's not the case with Office 2013.
The integrator.exe process that is making the change is part of Microsoft's Click-to-Run system.  It runs as a service with local system access, and thus would have full access to the key.  I might be able to lock it down by creating a second system
admin account and playing games with it - but that will make it very difficult to actually change the value when I want it do be changed, and I really shouldn't have to be doing workarounds to prevent Office itself from doing this.

  • How do I make Firefox the default browser in a non-administrative Windows XP account, where clicking to do so has no effect?

I have two accounts for myself on my PC running Windows XP. In the administrative account, Firefox is already the default browser that opens when I double-click an HTML file, etc. Firefox knows it's the default browser there.
In my other account, every time I start Firefox, it tells me it's not the default browser. Clicking there to make it the default, or in the options, does nothing.
When I go to Set Program Access and Defaults in the administrative account, "Use my current Web browser" is selected. Mozilla Firefox is not listed as an option. In my non-administrative account, the Add or Remove Programs control panel can't be used. It says I don't have permission.

To check that in the other account you would have to give it temporarily administrator permissions.

  • How can I/Can I make Firefox the default .PDF viewer in Windows 7?

For the basic PDF viewing I do, Adobe Reader is just slow and annoying. I love using Firefox, but unfortunately I cannot set it as the default program to open PDF files. Even when I select Firefox after right clicking and select open with, Windows does not comply. Is there a config option I can change that will allow me to set Firefox as the default PDF reader.
    Thank you for your help.

You can not make Firefox the default for viewing PDF files for the entire Windows Operating System, only the default viewer from within Firefox. Like when PDF files that are downloaded from websites and displayed in Firefox; you can try using '''File > Open File''' from within Firefox to view PDF file that are already saved on that PC, but I'm not sure that will work - I haven't tried doing that.
