Mapped Path being used instead of UNC Path

We have recently upgraded our Adobe products from CS3 to CC.  In CS3, images that were added to InDesign had the UNC path in the "Links".  With CC, we are finding that the Mapped Path is in the "Links".  This different behaviour is causing some issues.
Here is the process that we are using to add images to an InDesign file:
1.  Open Bridge
2.  Browse to a folder (X:\ which is mapped to \\Server\Hi-Res\)
3.  Drag and drop an image from Bridge to InDesign
In CS3, a path of "X:\MyFolder\MyImage.tif" would get converted to \\Server\Hi-Res\MyFolder\MyImage.tif
In CC, the path remains as "X:\MyFolder\MyImage.tif" which is causing us some issues.
Is there a way, in InDesign CC, to tell the application to use UNC paths when a Link is created - similar to what we were experiencing with CS3?
Thanks,
Jody

Hi Lee,
In CS3, UNC paths were used in File Path for images but this behavior was changed in CS4 (most probably) and UNC paths are no more supported.

Pooja

  • Component controller being used instead of cust controllers

    Hi masters
    I have to maintain an application developed by another consultant. He put all the business logic, all the methods etc inside de component controller instead of create cust controllers, is it a problem ?

  • Inactive RAM not being used/freed

    As I type this, my other computer has 590mb of inactive RAM, with 2mb of page outs and 11mb of page ins. Shouldn't the almost 600mb of inactive ram I have start being used instead of page swapping so much?

    Memory Management in Mac OS X
    Performance Guidelines- Memory Management in Mac OS X
    A detailed look at memory usage in OS X
    Understanding top output in the Terminal
    The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
    Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently.  It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster.  What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent.  It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

  • Index not being used in access path

    Hi,
    I have been trying to rewrite a query which currently is taking almost 1min and 25 secs to execute. The database version is 11.1.0.7.
    The query is -
    SELECT COUNT(1)
    FROM TAB1 p
    WHERE p.ACODE = 24377
    AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM TAB2 ph where ph.PKey = p.AKey )
    AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM TAB3 phs where phs.PKey = p.AKey )
    AND p.rflag = 'Y';
    The table originally didn't have an index on p.ACODE. So, I created this index and set it to visible and set the optimizer_use_invisible_indexes parameter also to TRUE. I set the monitoring on this index too. Even though I have created the index on the ACODE column, the access path doesn't use it. Can someone please tell me why this is not being used.
    Below is the explain plan for the sql stmt and the usage of the index -
    I have changed the actual table and column names -
    SQL> SELECT COUNT(1)
    2 FROM TAB1 p
    3 WHERE p.ACODE = 24377
    4 AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM TAB2 ph where ph.PKey = p.AKey )
    5 AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM TAB3 phs where phs.PKey = p.AKey )
    6 AND p.rflag = 'Y';
    COUNT(1)
    1
    SQL> explain plan for
    2 SELECT COUNT(1)
    3 FROM TAB1 p
    4 WHERE p.ACODE = 24377
    5 AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM TAB2 ph where ph.PKey = p.AKey )
    6 AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM TAB3 phs where phs.PKey = p.AKey )
    7 AND p.rflag = 'Y';
    Explained.

    Thanks Centinul.
    I apologize for posting in both sections. I put it in the Database General too because I thought I originally posted it in the wrong section.
    The index was not being used because it was doing the implicit type conversion. When I enclosed it in quotes, it returns the result within a second and it uses the index.(whereas without the index it takes around 1min 25 sec)
    Here is the explain plan and execution time after enclosing it in quotes -

  • How can I tell if direct-path insert is really being used?

    I have a number of INSERT statements with /*+ APPEND */ hints, that I suspect are not using direct-path insert processing. How can I tell (via the plan, via Enterprise Manager, whatever) if direct-path is being used?
    If it is not being used, then I can research why that might be, and try to resolve the obstacles there. But if it is being used, then I want to know that so I can focus elsewhere.
    Thanks,

    Moreover, in another forum post, we have eyewitnesses that it has happened at least once:
    APPEND Hint in Multi-table insert
    So I think that post (giving examples of Explain plans with multi-table inserts successfully using direct-path) answers my question.
    Mike,
    Thanks for that link. When I checked my example again I realised that it had a foreign key constraint between the two tables I was inserting into. (It was a demonstration of how to normalise an incoming denormalised address table, so converted a flat table into address/address lines). When I removed the constraint I got the multi-table insert.
    However, I followed this up with a check on the execution plans and for the 10.2.0.3 I was running noted the following:
    Plan reported after running the insert and select from dbms_xplan.display_cursor()
    | Id  | Operation           | Name | Rows  | Bytes | Cost  |

    |   4 |    TABLE ACCESS FULL| T3   | 10000 |  1240K|    30 |
    ------------------------------------------------------------If you try to check for direct path inserts by looking at the in-memory plans, you might not see the direct load that is really happening. (Perhaps the a check that both / all the target tables are locked with TM mode 6 may give you a clue.)

  • Alternate Mapping Paths?

    Are there ways to point to alternate paths for a specific
    based on Application.cfm or other similar roundabout way?
    Here's my problem.
    I have two sites, both running on the same instance of
    Coldfusion. Site-Corp and Site-UK. I have a mapping created for
    included files named "includes" that I would wish to use for both
    sites. If the two sites were totally independant then it would be
    easy and all I would have to do would be to create a site-specific
    equivalent mapping (i.e. includesuk), but the thing is that Site-UK
    will be dependent on Site-Corp for a great many files (headers,
    footers, general sections nav etc etc). Through the use of a
    replication/migration tool said dependent files will be updated
    automaticaly on Site-UK when being saved on Site-Corp and overwrite
    whatever was there to make sure the two sites are consistant.
    Some of the files within the includes folder (Site-UK) will
    be overwritten this way when updates happen on Site-Corp but a
    great many won't, since we are using template files that will serve
    for both sites I need the folder structure to be the same. That's
    where my problem comes from, since they are both running off the
    same instance of ColdFusion, no matter the changes done on Site-UK
    files, the fact that the mapping is set to the includes folder on
    Site-Corp makes both site show up the same set of files rather than
    two different ones. So I was wondering if there is a way that we
    could set a mapping path within the Application.cfm file of each
    site, so that based on the two Application.cfm files the actual
    path for the mapping named "includes" would be different on both
    sites and this way allow me to use the same structure for both
    sites so that all replication/migration done through the
    third-party tool would not be rendered useless by wrong paths and
    broken links.
    Thanks

  • How do you determine file being used in DVD map?

    Hi
    On older idvd projects I sometimes want to check what version of a movie file it is using. I can't figure out how to reveal the information. Specifically, I'm looking for exact name of file being used and its location.
    Thank you for your help
    Phil

    You can find that information from within the iDVD project. Open the iDVD project in question. Under the menu bar, select Project Info. You will then see a screen containing information about that project. There is a screen showing all the Media used, with the path to each movie, audio, or photo used in the project. The path begins with the drive on which the movie is located and then each folder/file.
    By the way, you do know that an iDVD project is like an alias collection. The actual media are not stored within the project, only information pointing to the actual media files. When you burn a DVD, iDVD gathers the media files temporarily for the burn.
    If you rename, move, change or delete any media used within a project, iDVD will be unable to locate the files and will not open properly. Many people have mistakenly saved only an iDVD project, deleting the original iMovies used in it, and have been sadly disappointed to find that the iDVD project no longer has the movie files.
    If you wish to save drive space but save your iDVD projects for burning later, you should create a disk image file by doing 'save as disc image' from within your iDVD project. This process looks just like a burn, and the encoding takes just as long, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk. The disk image file is self-contained; that is, all the media files used in the project are encoded into the disk image file. So now you have a disk image file of your project that can be saved, moved, used to burn DVD disks at any time.
    You can safely delete the original iMovie project and the original iDVD project without losing the capability of burning more DVDs of the project.
    I have disk image files of all the iDVD projects I have made. I store them on external drives as backups.

  • Mapping paths to servlets doesn't work anymore in SP5 ??

    Hello,
              see subject.
              I have a small web application which is contained in a WAR-file named
              "httpdump.war". Its deployment descriptor (web.xml) maps the servlet
              httpdump.HttpDumpServlet to the path /servletpath/* with the following
              XML statements:
              <servlet>
              <servlet-name>HttpDumpServlet</servlet-name>
              <display-name>The HTTP Dump Servlet</display-name>
              <servlet-class>httpdump.HttpDumpServlet</servlet-class>
              </servlet>
              <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>HttpDumpServlet</servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>/servletpath/*</url-pattern>
              </servlet-mapping>
              In weblogic.properties, I have:
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.httpdump=httpdump.war
              The WAR-file is structured as follows:
              $ jar tf httpdump.war
              META-INF/
              META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
              WEB-INF/classes/httpdump/HttpDumpServlet.class
              WEB-INF/web.xml
              dummy.jsp
              $
              Now a request like http://host:port/httpdump/servletpath/xyz should be

              Yes, this is already a known problem in SP5.
              Fix will be available in the upcoming service packs.
              I guess the workaround is to put servlet classes in servlet classpath.
              Sorry about the regression.

  • Struts - Firfefox messages: No input attribute for mapping path /editNxtMod

    Hi!
    I'd like to create an admin application which is based upon a simple database table. The list shows already, but the detail of selected record doesn't. When I click to a record, the Firefox writes "No input attribute for mapping path /editNxtModuls". What does it mean? Maybe bad configuration files?
    Please help me!
    Thank Yoy!
    Here my code:
    <struts-config>

                   saveErrors(request, myErrors);
                   mapping.findForward("error");
              return mapping.findForward("edit");
    }

    The config file looks ok to me.
    The Action looks like you aren't taking full advantage of Struts.
    You shouldn't have to call request.getParameter() - you should define an action form which picks up the parameters, and does the validations/conversions for you.
    Maybe try this:
    <html:link action="/editNxtModuls" paramId="modul_id" paramName="nxtmoduls" paramProperty="modul_id" /><bean:write name="nxtmoduls" property="modul_id"/>
    </html:link>Edit: Reads error message
    No input attribute for mapping path /editNxtModuls
    This means that the form validation for this action failed, and it is attempting to return control to the sending page so that you can fix the error.
    Check the forms.NxtModulsForm validate() method to see if validation would pass/fail.
    The fix would be to put an "input" attribute into the action
    <action name="NxtModulsForm"
    path="/editNxtModuls"
    scope="request"
    type="actions.EditNxtModulsAction"
    validate="true"
    input = "list.jsp">
    <forward name="edit" path="/NxtModuls/edit.jsp" />
    </action>

  • HBOgo "StageVideo is not being used"

    I just updated flash today, November 25 2013, which gives me version 11,9,900,152.  The problem I'm having seems specific to the HBOgo.com site.
    The problem occurs in all three browsers that I've tried, Firefox (my preferred browser), Chrome, and IE 9.  Also, I've tried the various suggested troubleshooting suggested on the Adobe site as far as enabling Flash addon in IE after disabling (unchecking) the choice for ActiveX filtering.  I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling all 3 browsers, reinstalling flash, resetting all video card settings to default, going through the Device Manager and uninstalling the device entirely, making sure it has no errors or conflicts anywhere and the same thing for the network devices, they all indicate that they are working properly.
    My device is an HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2.  It has 4 GB of memory and the video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.  The drivers are all up to date and so is every application and its associated add-ons that I will mention.  Also, it shipped with a Blu-Ray player which I've used to display Blu-Ray content on an external monitor with no issue.  (If it can do that, then shouldn't it just be some software issue preventing it from playing back a video stream of inferior quality from hbogo?)
    Regarding Flash Player, I've watched videos on YouTube and Hulu (and countless other sites which stream Flash Video) at resolutions of 720 and 1080 which played at framerates between 25 and 30 fps and which also did not use hardware acceleration but nevertheless maintained CPU usage of less than 70%.  So, the computer can certainly do it even without the help of the GPU, and it can do it from other sites that use flash, but not from HBOgo.  That's a second problem, even when flash video plays well, it's still not using hardware acceleration, but first I want to know why HBOgo's flash player is so much worse than everyone else's player.
    Here is the specific issue:  I navigate to HBOgo.com, pick any video to play and begin playback.  Playback usually begins at a relatively low resolution (I'd guess 480 or so based on its obvious pixelation), and then steps up the resolution gradually.  Usually after a minute or so, it will have reached its best resolution and that's when it starts dropping frames like crazy and pinning the CPU at 100%.  The video looks terribly choppy and the audio skips the more choppy the video is.  When I click pause or hit the spacebar for a pause, it will take two or three seconds as it spits out the last few video frames before finally showing the paused icon on the last frame.  Those two seconds seem to corrolate with CPU processing since there is no noticable delay when pausing video anywhere else under any other conditions.  Of course, CPU useage will drop back to 5 or 10 while the video is paused.
    Right-clicking the screen lets me choose "Show Video Debug" which in turn tells me:
         StageVideo enabled in OSMF: Yes
         StageVideo is supported.
         StageVideo is not being used, regular video 'probably' is.
    This is where I got the information about dropped frames.  If it matters, when paused, the buffer will fill to about 400 Mb plus or minus about 10 percent of that, perhaps.  Also, during playback, the buffer maintains approximately the same amount, indicating that my ISP has no problem sending that much data to my device.  The buffer seems fill to a lenght of time, about 60 seconds; so, as the video resolution goes down, the total buffer drops accordingly... sometimes it is at 200 Mb for 60 seconds with lower resolution, etc...
    Speaking of my ISP, I have Verizon FiOS (I don't know why it would matter, but I'm in King of Prussia, which is near Philadelphia, PA).  I just tested my bandwidth and it tells me that my IP is 71.175.97.244 and my download rate is 57.98 Mbps from some server in Matawan, NJ.  I don't think networking issues factor into this at all.  I say that because, digging into the developer tools (all 3 browsers show the same network activity: Firefox, Chrome, and IE) and clicking on the "Network" column, it consistently shows low latency for all the stream components.  For example:
         path: http://hds.pro12.lv3.hbogo.com/videos/PRO12/e2/hbo/feature/728425/hbo_821867_PRO12_f4m/hbo _821867_PRO12_8-Seg1-Frag858
         method: get
         type: video/f4f
    Timing Tab show:
         Sending: 0     Waiting: 89mg     Recieving: 159ms
    This seems to indicate that I'm getting the data sent to me without any problem, so forget about network issues, right?
    Also, regarding information available in Developer Tools, I can see that the flash video object has the paramater "wmode" set to "transparent".  I already wasted time messing with this before I realized that the paramater is irrelavent while in fullscreen mode -- besides the fact that even when it is changed to direct or gpu when not in full screen, it does nothing to help matters.  I think this was covered in one of the last discussions talking about lack of hardware acceleration on HBOgo -- the same discussion that ended with a few people saying that they were going to "throw in to towel".
    What am I missing here?  Why is StageVideo supported but not used?  Why do other players which use flash play videos with better quality despite still not using hardware acceleration?
    Windows Vista = updated
    NVIDIA Video Drivers = updated
    Flash Player = updated
    Flash Addons (pepper flash, etc...) = updated
    Firefox, Chrome, IE = all updated
    There's got to be something I can do.  What is it?

    Hello Sarvanan,
    What do you mean by "the respective field not having the Unit/Curr Objects"..?..some of them are of the type "number" whereas others are CHARS.
    Everytime when i add some field i cannot re-create the whole transformation. There has to be some inconsistency as my mapping of source-target field is correct. I have also raised this to OSS but as usual they are taking thier own sweet time to reply.
    Surprisingly the transformation got activated yesterday and the dataload too was successful. Today again the same ols problem of "parameter is not being used"..!!
    still could you pls throw some light on Unit/Currency objects that u mentioned..??
    Thanks in adv.

  • HT5878 how to check the detail of font being used for reading the file received by an email

    I received word file as an attachment with email on my iphone. I want to check the detail on font being used for reading the word file received as attachment in an email.

    You don't need to copy the cert out of your configuration. OpenSSL has an "s_client" subcommand which can open an SSL connection and verify the cert for you. It even knows how to do STARTTLS. Something like this ought to do it:
    openssl s_client -starttls smtp -CAfile /path/to/ca/file -connect your.ironport:25
    The /path/to/ca/file is necessary to provide openssl with a cache of root CA certs. You could use -CApath instead of -CAfile if you have a hashed directory of root CA certs instead of a single file containing them all.
    You can also point this at your partner's SMTP server as well.

  • Structured XMLIndex is not being used

    I have a table defined as "TABLE OF XMLTYPE" with XML Binary storage with a structured XMLIndex under Oracle 11.2.0.3.4. The query that I am using on this table is virtually the same as the XMLIndex, but it's not being used. I searched the forums for similar issues and found this:
    XMLIndex is not getting used
    However, the post is a couple of years old, and I think that the solution was really specific to the problem. Not that mine isn't. ;)
    Per the forum guidelines, the data/DDL is confidential, and should not be posted, so I opened a SR for it - SR 3-7160281751.
    May I please have some help understanding why the structured XMLIndex is not being used?
    Thanks...

    OK, I did the best I could to clean this up. The last query in this script is the one not using the index. The tables "book_master" and "book_join_temp" are populated, though I didn't include the data here. Do you see anything wrong?

  • 0xc0000005 access violation running app from mapped drive but no problem from UNC or local

    I have an application (.exe - 32 bit) that is giving the access violation error when run from a mapped (net use) drive on a shared folder.   NO error if I run it using the FULL UNC path name and NO error if I copy it to my local drive and run it.
    The error is below.   I have run scans for virus and malware, etc. and come up with nothing.  I have run diagnostics on my memory and nothing is wrong with the hardware.  Also, if I create a new user profile, the app will run fine under
    that profile - initially.   The problem seems to come up after I install something new.  I know the new software is not infected (VS 2013) and the software installed before the new profile test was not the same software.
    I didn't give all the info below because it's legacy software few would know about and I do NOT have the source code.   It is 32 bit and has worked fine for 15 years or more - without this problem.    Thanks in advance for any help
    you can provide.

    Hi Johnny,
    We wonder if you get this error on all PCs or only on your Windows 7 PCs.
    If your application happens to hit a page of memory that is not present, a standard page fault will trigger, telling Windows it needs to fill that page. If the network happens to be down at that moment, Windows will be unable to satisfy the page-fault. So
    Windows throws an EXCEPTION_IN_PAGE_ERROR (0xC0000005). Since you mentioned that it works under new user profile initially and already tested your memory, the most typical causes for the ‘0xC0000005: Access Violation’ error are: corrupt registry, malware,
    updated software/device driver.
    Check your issue with malware, VS 2013 and firewall closed under new account.
    If this issue happened recently, you could simply restore your system to earlier point then check your issue.
    Check your issue under clean boot and safe mode with network (using new account)
