[MapViewer] Ugly borders

When MapViewer creates a image, there's a black border on both left and rightside of the map. Why is this, en can I remove this border? It's very ugly when the background of the map is the same color as the background of the html-page
tnx.

Whoops - the first maintenance release will remove the border. What shipped with 9iAS does have the border.
Sorry,
Dan

  • Using opaqueBackground results in ugly borders

    I am using
    cacheAsBitmap = true;
    opaqueBackground = 0xFF0000;
    in an itemRenderer
    and I am overriding drawBackground() and drawing inside....
    var matrix:Matrix = new Matrix();
                                  matrix.createGradientBox(getExplicitOrMeasuredWidth(), getExplicitOrMeasuredHeight(), Math.PI/2, 0, 1);
                                  graphics.beginGradientFill(GradientType.LINEAR, [startColor, middleColor, endColor], [1, 1, 1], [0, 191, 255], matrix);
                                  graphics.drawRect(0, 0, getExplicitOrMeasuredWidth(), getExplicitOrMeasuredHeight());
                                  graphics.endFill();
    Everything is fine but I have a 1px "boder" in red from the opaque background on the top and on the right...
    Anyone an idea why this happens?

    After a lot of testing setting
    alternatingItemColors="{[]}"
    in the list solved my problem - which seems to me very strange...
    Bevore I did this air painted the alternatingItemColor over the end of the previous item in the list which was the "border" on the side (the top-border was another problem....)
    PS: So I had a horizontalLayout in the list, gap was 0 - paddings all 0...

  • Dark borders around album art in grid view

    Hi everybody,
    since last week my iTunes is displaying strange dark borders around album cover art and iPhone apps icons in grid view (see http://j.imagehost.org/0154/1_21.jpg). I am using the dark background theme. I already tried restarting iTunes and the computer several times and deleting the iTune album artwork cache.
    Does anybody have an idea what else I could try to remove these ugly borders?
    Thanks in advance
    Jens

    I have the same issue here.
    If i change my display profile in the system preferences to the default, they disappear.
    But that can’t be the solution.
    Has anybody a clue?

  • Transparency flattening issue (I think)

    Hi all,
    I'd appreciate your help with this.  I've tried researching this through the forum yet still find myself confused.  I think it's a transparency flattening issue, but I'm unsure of how to fix it, and even at what point to fix it.
    I designed this for a magazine ad in InDesign CS2 and exported to PDF.  The polaroids have drop shadows, which look fine on screen:
    But when I print I get these ugly "borders" where the transparencies are:
    Can't get rid of them, except by printing the PDF as an image.
    My questions are:
    1) Assuming this is a transparency issue, how do I fix this?  I've read about transparency presets on the forum, but (please forgive my lameness) I'm not sure how to actually apply them.
    2) At what point do I fix this?  I mean, as a best practice, is this something that's addressed inside InDesign, or during the export from InDesign, or when printing the PDF?  It looked fine in the magazine so obviously they were able to fix it, but I'd still like to know what I'm doing wrong to save them extra work in the future.
    I have Adobe CS2 and Acrobat 7 Pro on a Windows XP Pro.
    Many thanks for your help,
    Ed

    That's quite a color shift, too, on the background which seems like more than you'd see from a poor image capture of the printed piece.
    I bet you are using a spot color. Unless you are actually paying to have that spot color printed in the magazine (if they even would), you shouldn't be using it. Make sure you go into the ink manager and convert all spots to process, or replace any spot colors with process colors. You should be the one handling the color conversion, and using process color will simplify the flattening, I think.

  • How to embed excel into a region on portal AS

    How to embed excel into a region on portal AS??
    Any suggestions will be appreciated...

    Hmm. topic is from 2005. But havent they gotten something better than iframes since 2005??? I find iframes not flexible enough to paste in portlets, made by, say mod_plsql into a article publisher tool.
    For example, I want to make an article using my companies article publication tool (Intranett publisher) saying..
    Blah blah blah
    If you look at the table below u see the current data updated every hour:
    <iframe call to portlet with data>
    This data is blah blah blah etc
    When I use iframe I have to set the size (I dont know how big table will be in the future), and get ugly borders with scrollbars if I dont set size right. Isnt it any better code out there yet? Hopefully as easy as embed pictures from the outside.

  • BlendMode.LAYER & wmode=transparent & ff bug

    Hello, I'm having problems with the latest flash player 10.
    Everything worked before upgrading, but since then I'm not able to
    get BlendMode.LAYER and wmode=transparent working in firefox (2 nor
    3).
    I have described my problem and I have sample files here:
    http://arkkimaagi.googlepages.com/home
    Basicly if I use blendMode=BlendMode.LAYER; in flash that has
    transparent background in firefox, I get these ugly borders around
    all objects that have the blendMode set to Layer.
    Any suggestions what I could do to get around this problem?
    Edit:
    I've also added this to adobe bugs. Please vote for it to get
    attention to this issue.
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-970

    I've replicated this in Win, FF3, FP10, with wMode as
    transparent.
    If blendMode = BlendMode.NORMAL, I do not see this error.
    Setting blendMode to any other available property reproduces this
    error.

  • Longtime bug: Table cell strokes disappearing

    I was hoping this would be fixed in CS5, but apparently not.
    I want a very simple table with just horizontal rules above each line. I want to set this as a cell style, so I can apply and unapply for maximum flexibility.
    So this is what I want:
    row 1, col 1     row 1, col 2   row 1, col 3
    row 2, col 1     row 2, col 2   row 2, col 3
    row 3, col 1     row 3, col 2   row 3, col 3
    Here's what I do:
    - I create a new table.
    - I remove the ugly borders that are applied by default, and I save that as a new table style (because, apparently, I'm unable to overwrite the default style).
    - I select the cells from the top row (or all rows or just one) and apply a top border of, say, 1 point. I save that as a cell style called "ruled."
    - Problem is, when I try to apply this to a specific cell or row, the cell underneath loses its stroke. So if I apply the "ruled" style to row 2, col 2, the table looks like this:
    row 1, col 1     row 1, col 2   row 1, col 3
    row 2, col 1     row 2, col 2   row 2, col 3
    row 3, col 1     row 3, col 2   row 3, col 3
    When I check the cell style of row 3/col 2, the Cell Styles palette claims that it's the "ruled" style with no custom formatting. But the border says 0. When I double-check the cell style options, sure enough, it's supposed to be 1 point. So if I apply the style, it gets applied -- but, then, the cell beneath *that* one (if there is one) loses its stroke!
    So every time I have to make a change, I have to apply the strokes all the way down the table.
    Of course, this completely negates the advantage of having a style. If I have to manually apply and re-apply formatting for every cell, there is no point to having a style.
    If I am doing this wrong, I'd love to know a solution. I've grappled with this for years, and I've always ended up abandoning styles, which should be one of the most powerful features.
    As a corollary, I've occasionally tried alternating row strokes (using every line) for the table style, from which I've had mixed results. This would work in some cases, but I also sometimes want tables with only some columns ruled, like so:
    row 1, col 1     row 1, col 2   row 1, col 3
    row 2, col 1     row 2, col 2   row 2, col 3
    row 3, col 1     row 3, col 2   row 3, col 3
    I suppose I could override the cells in the non-ruled column with cell styles without rules, given that the cell styles function seems awfully good at making strokes disappear ...
    Thanks for any help!

    Yes, yes, yes! Thank you!
    So I need to select top AND middle when applying the stroke, then redefine style if necessary. I guess, due to interface confusion, I was ignoring the middle stroke, thinking it was only for full table-level styling.
    In the style options dialog for the Cell Styles, you don't even see a middle stroke. You only get middle strokes if you select the cell and use the stroke palette for local formatting.

    down load the beta nvidia detonator drive 40.something and has a few new things. when switch to tv (going through all the set up proces) go to SCREEN ADJUSTMEN (have to be in TV mode...i mean that you have to actually do this set up on the tv) then there are 3 bootons, one is for move the screen other to strech the image (meaning that we won´t have to have thos ugly borders on the tv anymore) the therd botom it soften the image.
    its not tv tool but it gets the same resolts, even better once you set the tv image as you like you dont have to go  through this process ever again.

  • Ugly Gray Borders Around My Paths

    It doesn't matter if I turn the stroke completely off of a path or not; Illustrator is still putting ugly gray borders around them.
    Here is a picture:
    http://peacepunk.net/images/uglyborder.jpg
    They appear around the curtains, around the bed (the red thing at the bottom), and the white part on top of the bed. (Actually, this has a stroke of black, but the gray stroke does this "dot dot dot" effect.)
    It looks incredibly ugly, and I don't know why it's there. Help? The zoom of this picture is at 100%.

    Wow, problem solved. I just changed the color mode from CMYK to RGB. Hope this helps out others with the same issue!

  • JavaScript validation/override red borders?

    We are creating numerous forms in LiveCycle and are very averse to having to specify "User Entered - Required" for two main reasons:
    doing so places those ugly, red boarders around required fields
    most fields on most forms are required, we don't want to clutter our forms with red borders
    The problem we encounter is that users can submit empty forms/null values via email, and I yet to find a way around this. Incomplete forms/data, particularly on things like requisitions and the like, can lead to delays in processing. We want to mitigate that by forcing client-side validation before users submit their forms via email.
    I am very new to both LiveCycle and JavaScript.
    I have tried
    fieldname.mandatory = "This cannot be left blank.";
    tied to the validate event, but this does not seem to do anything: users can still submit forms, even if the value is null/empty.
    Where this would most be used is with text and numeric fields and, occasionally, with radio buttons/exclusion groups.
    Can someone please help me figure out simple client-side JavaScript validation (or other method) that would force users to enter values in these mandatory fields before submitting, preferably without having to subject our users to the hideous borders?

    Thank you; a blog post I found contained the answer I was looking for. Essentially:
    Now you see me, now you don’t.
    Interactive forms highlight where you should enter data. To turn this highlighting on, click the Highlight Existing Fields button.
    The fillable fields within the form (see example below) are highlighted in a light blue color. This lets you enter information into these fields. By default, Adobe® Reader® displays a red border around required fields. Pretty dang ugly, huh?
    Fortunately, it can be turned off.  This script (placed on a form:ready event) will do the trick:
        if (xfa.host.name == "Acrobat")
    app.runtimeHighlight = false;
    Here’s how we achieve this:
    Part 1:
    In the Object palette, click the Value tab. Under Type, choose User Entered – Required.
    First, we need to define which fields are mandantory/required. Click within the desired field to select it.
    You can assign as many mandatory fields as the form requires. When you are finished doing this, enter the Script Editor.
              Note:   To show or hide the Script Editor window as you need it, click the toggle.
    Select the form:ready event. Be sure JavaScript is the chosen scripting language to run on the Client.
    Type the following script into the window:
        if (xfa.host.name == "Acrobat")       app.runtimeHighlight = false;
    Save your work.
    Part 2:
    From the File menu, choose Form Properties.
    Click the Form Validation tab.
                   Click Color Failed Fields.               Check the box next to Color fields and fail their validations.
    To turn borders off, click the arrow next to Border Color, then click the box.
    To define a background color, click the arrow next to Background Color, the choose More Colors.
    Select the first available empty box, then click Define Custom Colors.
    Define a custom color per your visual identity guidelines.
    When you are finished, click on Add to Custom Colors, then click OK.
    Click OK on the Form Properties window.
    Save your work.
    The result? When the user tries to submit a form without first entering data into the required fields, an alert message is displayed.
    When the user clicks OK to clear the error message, form submission is cancelled.
    Failed fields are highlighted in an attractive way—without red borders.

  • The UI is so UGLY an there are no options to change this.

    For me and the mayority of people i know, the user interface is completity UGLY. With Windows 10 is more UGLY too changing the desktop icons.
    Simple, plain, flat, lack of constrast between areas, terrible an heavy colors, bad icons seens to developed by a three years old baby.
    Also Windows 10, as same as Windows 8.x has no options to change this.
    Windows 7 has options to change all of this an select if you want transparencies, aero and more OR NOT. Windows 8.x and 10 has NO OPTIONS.
    The Advanced Appearance Settings is removed in Windows 8.x and 10 in order to configure desktop with things, like for example, change the grid size of the desktop in order to align icons.
    Since 1990, all monitor are in color, and since 2000 the vast mayority of video cards support True Color (32 Bits) and i dont like an never use an OS that looks likes Windows 1.0 or 2.0. I want colors, degraded colors, transparencies, rounded borders, full
    color 3D icons, shadows, effects, and more. I want to see diferents color in diferents areas of a Windows like in Windows XP or all versions of Office except 2013.
    Who develops the LOGON ICON?
    If someone on my company presents a design like the Windows 8.x or 10 logon icon is inmeditly fired. But Microsoft sells a product with this horrible design who someone develop in less than a minute,
    but I do not think anyone has such bad taste
    to bother it or check it.
    ALL MODERN/Metro Design, including the Microsoft and Windows logo, the Web design and all, are UGLY. Very UGLY with NO OPTIONS to change this.
    I respect all people who like this simple and minilastist design, but i ask those people respect us for all that i not like that design.

    The Advanced Appearance Settings is removed in Windows 8.x and 10 in order to configure desktop with things, like for example, change the grid size of the desktop in order to align icons.
    I agree with this part, unless it was moved somewhere else. I'd be nice to have a few more desktop customization options.

    MacBook Pro Mid2014 15" reports a Samsung UE40HU6900 4K TV as 8K (7680x4320).
    This results in an ugly, washed out image half the size it should be. If you turn off scaling everything is tiny as 8K are displayed on a 4K screen. To get the actual 4K resolution you have to turn on scaling. Still 8K is transferred to the device, but doubling the data lines makes the picture look washed out and create obscure effects for line borders.
    Did anybody encounter this problem before? Is there a fix for this? (OSX 10.10.1)

If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

  • Ugly blue loading boxes... how do I get rid?

    My uploaded pages on internet open with ugly blue boxes while they load on PC. this looks very unprofessional and I am hoping there is a way to simply change the colour or get rid of them all together. As varkgirl mentioned IE does not play well with png files. Here are some tips I've collected from this forum on making iWeb sites more compatible with the darkside. Maybe one or two will be of help to you.1 - do not use and frames or borders, etc. around photos.
    2 - don't use any reflections.
    3 - create your own navigation bar with linked text* and turn of the iWeb Navigation bar.
    The nav bar is all png based.
    *Put your linked text directly under the Navigation bar. Then turn off the nav bar in the Inspector window. The nav bar will disappear and the linked text will move up to the top of the page.
    4 - use only the web safe fonts from the Font pane.
    5 - do not use drop shadow on fonts.
    6 - turn off smart quotes.
    The above will reduce the number and size of files associated with a web page quite a bit. Photos with fancy frames and reflections can generate a thumbnail png of around 110KB whereas the plain version will be a jpg of only 28KB. Although it doesn't sound like a lot, it will speed up loading of the page and be more darkside (i.e. PC) friendly.
    Run a test with a test site and publish to a folder. Then follow the hints above and publish to another folder and compare folders.

    </zoom_levels>
    on zoomlevel 18 I'm "closest" to the ground, on 1 I can see the whole world (no data there in my theme but theoretically...) - all fine (except black borders between tiles - other problem).
    Now I want to improve image quality by choosing pyramid-levels for the zoom-level and tried to figure out a way to set up basemaps in mapbuilder using ratio.
    That's where I noticed, that MapBuilder seems to use a different way of calculating scale in comparison to MapViewer. E.g. in my case scale 262144 is zoom-level 18 in MapViewer, but viewing the picture in MapBuilder I have to chose scale 1024 to get the same picture (which is zoom-level 10 in MapViewer).
    Did I get anything wrong about this? Or is there anything I can do to sync the scales in order to make working with mapbuilder and mapviewer combined easier?
    Also is there a way to see which pyramid-level of the georaster-file is used to calculate a maptile in MapViewer?
    Thanks,
    NilsO

    Hi NilsO,
    first about the pyramid level of GeoRaster used. MapViewer/MapBuilder calculates the closest pyramid level for the current map scale (based on map and device windows). You can find this information in the log when the GeoRaster theme images are being generated (you may need to set the logging to finest).
    About the tile layer definition, in XML tile layer definition the values of min_scale and max_scale are interpreted differently from MapViewer base map definition. So I think in your case the min_scale should be 1.0 and the max_scale should be 262144 in XML, and the zoom levels would be in reverse order that you have.
    How did you generate this tile layer definition?
    The visualization scales in MapBuilder/MapViewer and Oracle maps in general should be consistent, although rendering in MapBuilder does not use the zoom levels of Oracle Maps (can be any scale). Please try changing the tile layer definition as mentioned above, to see if you still get the scale differences.
    Joao
