Master/Detail - master in table,details in pop-up per row, commit all at 1

Somewhat similar to the table as master with a clickable row to another page w/ the details, I'm trying the following:
Master (Parent) - View Object based on multitable view, therefore, not updateable. This is presented in a table control.
Column pushbutton (bound to setCurrentRowWithKeyValue and showPopUpBehavior) opens a pop-up where a detail (child) table is presented in a table(grid). In addition, I'd like the option to be able to save all changes at once - meaning user can click on row 1, enter values in pop-up, then row 2, enter values in pop-up for that row, etc.. then commit after.
Detail is linked to master via view link.
Pop-up opens, then comes back w/ blank table. Then closes soon after. In jdeveloper, log says:
SEVERE: The original view root was not set.Ideas? possible?

In researching this problem before my post I searched the OTN discussion groups for "Currency String" and nothing of relevance came up. I posted my question and after Frank got involved, in an attempt to review my post, I searched for "CurrencyString" and the following post came up: currencyString in JSP-page based on a sql-only ViewObject
This post contained the solution that fixed my problem. Now I can move forward with my ADF development. Thanks Frank and Duncan Mills, I will never again forget the importance of key attributes.

Master Child tables how to get the latest rows from both

Hi,
Need some help with the sql. I have two tables Master & Child. In my Master table I have multiple rows for the same record and in the child table also multiple rows for the same master row how can I get the latest one's from both.
For example Data in my Master table looks like

If there happens to be a tie for the latest row (say, there are only two rows in the child_table with a certain cont_id, and both have exactly the same updated_date), then this query will arbitrarily choose one of them as the latest.

Problem with a master tree table and its detail table

Hello,
I have a master treetable showing on a page and a separated detail table below the treetable on the same page.
To make the things clear, three tables are involved here: one master and one detail table to compose the treetable, and another detail table for the current selected row in the treetable.
Things usually work fine when operating on the detail table. However, if I create or delete some rows from the detail table and press Rollback, some unwanted behaviour happens.
In facts, on Rollback, both the master treetable and the detail table are redrawn on the page.
However, once refreshed, despite the current selected row in the treetable still appears as the one before clicking Rollback (suppose not the first one), the detail table always correspond to the first row of the master treetable.
Is there a way to either make the current selected row the first one the master treetable, or (preferred) to make detail table reflect the visible current selected row in the treetable?

Master advance table with two detail advanced tables

Hi All,
I have this in mind..please let me know if that is possible.
I want to have two detail advanced tables within a master advance table.
The two detail advance tables will be wrapped in a subtab layout.
My questions are:
Can a master table have two details tables?
Can a advance table have two inner advance tables?
Your help or ideas would be valuable to me.

I just want to know whether this is possible or not.
I have created two view links and three view objects
Table in Table in Table
Table1--> Table2 --> Table3
One problem i am facing when i click on Show link of Table1,it displays details of Table2 and when i click Show link of Table2,it displays details of Table3.
but when i click on Hide of Table1, it says
oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25002: Definition <Table3 View Object> of type Attribute not found
Could you please anybody throw some pointers on this?

Bc4j:RowScope on a Master Detail page always returns 0 rows for detail

I have a problem with a Master Detail page that is called from another page. The Master Detail page has two View Objects, Budgets and Budget Versions. These are linked properly in BC4J and when I use these VOs together I can navigate through the Budgets (master) and the Budget Versions (details) are populated correctly.
However, I want to navigate to this page from another page which lists all possible Budgets. I pass the key of the selected Budget to the Master Detail page and the correct Budget is displayed, BUT the Budget Versions are NOT displayed - I get 0 rows returned.
The mechanism I use to pass the selected Budget ID to my Master Detail page is:

I then use

If I comment out the rowScope element, I don't get the desired Budget row, but I do get the correct Budget Version rows displayed. Is the rowScope element on the Budget VO interfering with the Budget Version VO?

I tried to create a comparable set of two pages and initially ran into the same problem. I just realized that my issue (which I hope is yours too) is that the rootAppModule name was different across my two pages. This led to each page having its own application module instance, so the currency was different on each page.
By changing all of my pages to use the same application module name (in the registryDef, in the appModuleScope tags in the page, and in the findAppModule tags in the handlers), I resolved this problem.
My event handler to go to the master/detail page from the master page, FYI, looks like this:

I have a requirement on a characteristic. I have to obtain the description of those values that are not filled with data in the cube, the example looks like this:

I think you are trying to achieve this: To display characteristic values for which no transaction data or only low values exist for the selected period.

How to refresh a child table each time I select a row in the master table

I've 2 tables, a master table and a child table.
When i click on each row of the master table, the child table needs to be refreshed.
I've given the id of table1(master) as the CreatePartialTrigger value in table2(child).
The refresh does happen but it happens in an inconsistent manner.
For eg. in my scenario,
1.I add a row to the master table
2.Click on the create button of the child table, this opens a popup and i enter a few values and the child row gets added.
3.Now when i toggle between the rows in my master table, the refresh does not happen and I see duplicate rows in the child table but in the datebase only one record gets stamped..
Is there any clean way to refresh the child table based on the row selection in the master table.
Kindly let me know.

As you mentioned I already have the id of my master table which is 'table1' as the createPartialTrigger in my child table.
In my case there are 2 scenarios.
I add a row to the Master table and when I click on the create button on the chile table, I get a pop with 'Yes' , 'No' and 'Cancel'
Scenario1
If I click 'Yes' , then I get another popup where I enter the values for the ActionReasonsActionReasonUsagesVO which is a combination of the ActionReasonsEO and the ActionReasonUsagesEO, now when I click on OK, a new row gets created in the ActionReasonsActionReasonUsagesVO.
In the above scenario things work fine, as I toggle between the rows in the Master table the child table gets refreshed.
Scenario2
If I click 'No' I get a search popup where I can query up the ActionReasonsVO and select existing data,on clicking OK, the values get mapped from the ActionReasonsVO to the ActionReasonsActionReasonUsagesVO.
Now when I toggle between the rows in my master table, I observe 2 types of behaviors
1.Due to incorrect refresh, the child table rows vanishes from the UI.
2.There are duplicate rows in the child table.
The issue is specific to this scenario where the refresh of the child table rows does not happen correctly.

How to find the number of entries in a master data table

I am trying to find the entries in 0CUSTOMER master data.
BW>LISTCUBE>Data target: 0CUSTOMER and selected the fields that I need.
I would like to know how to find the "number of entrees". I tried to run the SUM for a count field, but it is taking forever as there are huge number of records .

Hi Dev,
Go to the change/display mode of the info object (0CUSTOMER) in your case. Go to the Master data/Text tab. Here you will find the master data tables according to your settings (P orQ or X or Y). Double click on the table name and it will take you to the SE11 display. From there, you can check the number of records as you do in any transparent table.

Abap code not working - deleting based on master data table information

I wrote a piece of code earlier which is working and during test we found out that it will be hard for the support guys to maintain because it was hard coded and there is possibility that users will include more code nums in the future
sample code
DELETE it_source WHERE /M/SOURCE EQ 'USA' AND
/M/CODENUM NE '0999' AND
/MCODENUM NE '0888' AND.
Now I created a new InfoObject master data so that the support people can maintain the source and code number manually.
master data table - the codenum is the key.

now I wrote this routine all the data gets deleted.
tables /M/PGICTABLE.
Data tab like /M/PGICTABLE occurs 0 with header line.
Select * from /M/PGICTABLE into table tab where objvers = 'A'.
if sy-subrc = 0.
LOOP at tab.
DELETE it_source WHERE /M/SOURCE EQ tab-XSOURCE AND /M/CODENUM NE tab-XCODENUM.
ENDLOOP.
Endif.
But when I chage the sign to EQ, I get opposite values , Not what I require.
DELETE it_source WHERE /M/SOURCE EQ tab-XSOURCE AND /M/CODENUM EQ tab-XCODENUM.
Cube table that I want to extract from

M or P master data table to be used in routine read statement

Use M table as it it the view on time dependent(P table) and time independent(Q table) tables.
M table is view on time dependent and time independent attributes, you can see characteristic values and all the attributes for the Characteristic.
The tables that go in the view are the Master Data Table and the Time-Dependent Master Data Table. If the characteristic only has time-dependent attributes, only the time-dependent master data table goes in. If the characteristic has only non-time-dependent attributes, only the master data table goes in.

But I am cofused in choosing master data table to get data.
There are two master data table in master data tab of 0customer characteristics.
1. View of MstrDtaTbls :- /BI0/MCUSTOMER
2. Master data tab :- /BI0/PCUSTOMER
Suggest me which one to take .
Although I have tried with 2 one and it is working fine.

If the attribute is not time-dependent please use /BI0/PCUSTOMER, else use /BIC/QRCOSTCTR.
Just remember P table and Q table.

How are attribute and text master data tables linked in SAP R/3?

Hello,
how are attribute and text master data tables linked in SAP R/3?
Most tables with attribute master data like T001 for company codes,
have a text master data table T001T (add "T" to table name).
When looking at the content of table T001 via transaction se11,
the text are automatically joined.
But for some tables there is no "T"-table (e.g. table TVBUR for sales offices
has no text table TVBURT), but in se11 you get texts. There is an address
link in TVBUR, but the Name1, etc. are empty.
a) Where are the text stored?
b) How does the system know of the link?

The master and text table are not linked by name, of course, if you see the text table, it has the same key fields of master table, only it has the field key spras and the field for description.
The link beetween the tables is done by foreign key: if you check the text table TVKBT u need to see how the foreign key for field VKBUR is done:
-> Foreing key with table TVBUR
-> Foreing key field type -> KEY FIELD FOR A TEXT TABLE
->Cardinality-> 1-:CN
It's very important the attribute sets for Foreing key field type, if it's KEY FIELD FOR A TEXT TABLE, it'll mean the table is a text table: i.e. that mean the master table is a check table for the text table, where the foreign key type is for text table.
U can find out the text table of master table by SE11: GoTo->Text Table
U can fined some information in table DD08L.

How to create time dependant master data table in R/3?

Hi gurus,
I am new to BW.I try to execute the 'Time dependant Attribute' into BW.in my scenario my source system must give me the data like "salesrep ID,Manager ID,Date to,Date from,Sales region". I like to know how to define this master data in SAP R/3(Source system)?. Give me the steps to create master data table in R/3.
Manager may change periodically.even i need to maintain all the changes in R/3.

built-in type method means.,
there is no need to create data element and domain objects seperately for each and every field of the table which ever you are creating, system will implicitly fix the size based on the data type you selected....

Insert data in a user master data Table

Hi every body,
I've created a User Master data table named 'MyTable'. i want to add data to this table but there is an error which occur : 'to generate this. First Define the Numbering Series in the Administration Module'. I want to add data to this table using C# code, without using UDO.
Is it possible?
