Max snap_id from dba_hist_snapshot and sys.wrh$_sqltext

Hi,
I have anoticed a difference of 50 between max(snap_id) from dba_hist_snapshot and sys.wrh$_sqltext
SQL> select max(snap_id) from dba_hist_snapshot;
MAX(SNAP_ID)
36441
SQL> select max(snap_id) from sys.wrh$_sqltext;
MAX(SNAP_ID)
36491
Anybody know why this is the case.

I can see following from one of the metalink note. It looks like we can't compare snap_id from dba_hist_snapshot and wrh$_sqltext.
For the AWR tables, we have two main types of tables:
(1) Regular snapshot tables. We capture data on a snapshot basis. For purging these tables, we just need to look at the snapshot id.
(2) Tables with normalized data. These are tables like WRH$_SQLTEXT, WRH$_SQL_PLAN, WRH$_DATAFILE, WRH$_TEMPFILE. Since the SQL text or file name can be very long, we only capture this information once, and this information is shared by many rows in the base snapshot tables. The snap_id in these tables is not the snapshot where the data was captured, but a last snapshot there were referred to. This is fuzzy logic and this last snapshot where the normalized data is referred to does not have to be exact.

My requirement is to get max value from this target table dynamically (Using dynamic look up) and then have an expression to increment by 1 and then load it to Target.I tried using SELCT max(col1) from target in dynamic look up override but this does not seem to work.Any work around here? How to pick max value from a column of a table using cursor and iteration

Hello Everybody
I have a table loan_detail
and a column in it loan_amount
now i want to pick values from this table using cursor and then by using iteration i want to pick max value from it using that cursor
here is my table

Min and Max values from entire table

Hi,
i have requirement in which i need to find the min and max values from the entire table.
See the sample data

i want the output as 100 and 5700.. how can i achieve this in a single query. Please through some light on this topic..!

Read the min and max occurrence from XSD

Hi,
I have a scenario where I have an XML, but not its XSD so my question is of two fold
1. Is it possible to create an XSD from that XML, if possible how?
2. Assume I get the XSD how do I read the min and max occurrence from that XSD?
PS: I am coding in java and pretty new to it, so it would be really helpful if I get the code snippets for the same :)

And just what sort of changes in "appearance" did you expect?
If you can access the editing, conversion, and/or properties options once a file is loaded then the QT 7 app has been upgreaded for "Pro" use.

Have you tried searching Metalink? A unique constraint violation on a SYS table by MMON will almost certainly require Oracle Support's assistance to resolve. Something rather deep inside Oracle has done something wrrong.

Mail not getting all messages from server and other strange behavior

Hello All,
Mail has been doing some odd things for me of late (at least the last week) and I'm lost for a solution to my problem. As far as I can tell, perhaps my Prefs. have become corrupted, or at least something in relation to Mail has become corrupted. Perhaps someone has a solution to this issue before I have to back it all up and NUKE the whole **** app to get back up and running properly.
The main issue I appear to be having is that Mail is not getting all of my Mail messages from my server. I can log into my web-mail interface provided by my domain host and can see there that there are many e-mails that don't appear to be coming down the pipe to the Mail.app client. I'm getting some e-mail's but not all....
*Here are all the things that I've checked:*
• The missing e-mails are not being picked up as Junk and are not in the Junk folder
• I have done a search within Mail for the missing e-mail's and nothing turns up anywhere.
• I have checked on the server end that I'm not maxing out my InBox or that there are any other service issues from my domain host provider.
• I have been into Prefs and checked my account settings - most (see below) of which appear to be as normal and are fine.
*Here are the weird things that I've noticed:*
• When I went into the Prefs. for the account in question, I noticed that my login had changed. For example - it usually it is "[email protected]", however it had seemed to have changed to just "johndoe" - I know this wasn't me as my domain host will not allow me to access any mail unless the login is the full mail address.
• In RULES, every rule I double click to check on seems mostly fine, apart from the fact that every "Account is:" the pull down menu just appears as blank. Usually it says "Account is: ([email protected])"
It's there last 2 items that make me think something is corrupted - so I guess my question is, what pref or file has corrupted and how can I fix it without having to give Mail.app a digital enema?
Any assistance would be most helpful - missing some but not all your incoming e-mail messages is quite annoying, as you can guess...!

Hello Boz.
This appears to be a rules issue. Mail is almost certainly downloading those messages, but they’re probably being processed by your rules in an unexpected way — given the information you’ve provided, maybe because there is something wrong with the file where the account settings are stored.
Do you have any Mail plug-ins? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
/Library/InputManagers/
/Library/Mail/Bundles/
~/Library/InputManagers/
~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
To make accurately reporting this information easier, you may open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>. You can then copy the output of that command from Terminal and paste it in your reply to this post:

After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and ensuring that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Write down your Mail > Preferences > Accounts settings or take screen shots of them.
2. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Mail data is enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
3. Quit Mail.
4. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the Mail folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this solves the problem). If you have a backup of your data that includes a working copy of this file, you may try restoring it from the backup to avoid steps 6-8.
6. Open Mail. You’ll have to set up your non-.Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
7. You’ll have to re-configure some of your Mail > Preferences settings. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
8. As a side effect of re-creating com.apple.mail.plist, Mail might rename Outbox (which is where messages waiting to be sent are stored) to Delivered. The name of that mailbox is actually a misnomer, as it would contain messages (if any) that couldn’t be delivered for some reason. You can delete that mailbox if you wish.
9. If the problem is fixed now and .Mac synchronization of Mail data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Mail data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.

Huge Difference in FPS from OSX and windows 8

I have a 2011 27" iMac with 6770m, 4gigs of ram, i5 (stock lower end 27")and windows 8 installed through bootcamp. I wanted to use it for gaming only to think that it was unusable. Recently I had realized that all I had to do was to lower the resolution. I was able to play BF3 at 30 FPS on medium settings and Arma 2 DayZ mod at around 40 FPS both at 1600 x 900. The next day I turn my computer back on after shuting it down from the last day, and the FPS on both games had dropped with the same settings down to ~10 FPS. I tested out Minecraft and tried to get the max fps possible (small windowed mode, disable vsync, max fps, tiny rendering) and got around 180 FPS, I went over to OSX and got around 500 FPS with the same settings. I unistalled and reinstalled my drivers, restarted smc, neither worked. Any help would be apreciated

Apple TV has no sound when mirroring from Mac mini,sound works when mirroring from iPad and iPhone

When I mirror from Mac mini to Apple TV there's no audio from Apple TV to my av amp,it works fine from iPhone and iPad,is there something I need to do in the airplay settings?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)
Apparently there is an issue if you push the Apple Remote before you set your computer to mirror. Whatever I did, it had locked it in that state. Once I stopped mirroring, then went onto the TV screen and restarted the Apple TV (#1 above) it then allowed me to choose mirroring on my Mac and the audio automatically switched from the computer to the TV (making the computer now mute), BTW the volume needs to be maxed on the computer as that will transmit to the TV if your volume is low on the computer. Then you can raise or lower it the way you want on your TV.

Standard and sys audit to syslog

Hello,
I have question about enabling auditing to syslog.
Is it possible to configure standard and sys auditing to local syslog in linux environment?
I have read that from version 10.2 it is possible to add AUDIT_SYSLOG_LEVEL parameter to init.ora to send audit trail to syslog. But I need to have both auditings: standard auditing and sys operations auditing on a remote host using syslog.

Plan_handle in sys.dm_exec_requests and sys.dm_exec_cached_plans

We are a SQL 2008 R2 Ent shop and recently I am troubling a performance issue which one SQL server is performing much faster than another SQL server for the exact same query. Each SQL server produces quite a different execution plan than
the other. This is another topic on its own which I won't touch here. While using DMV to trouble shoot, I come across a plan handle question regarding these two DMV's. I use sys.dm_exec_requests to check what are currently running
on a SQL server and sys.dm_exec_cached_plans to check what plans are being cached.    When I run the 'long running' query and check the plan handle in dm_exec_requests and dm_exec_cached_plans, the plan handle number in dm_exec_requests doesn't
show up in sys.dm_exec_cached_plans. In fact, the plan handle in dm_exec_cached_plans is different for the same 'long running' query.   Can someone explain why?
It is important for me to know because when I am trouble shooting a frequently long running query, I would first try to kill its execution plan because it may become inefficient due to a parameter sniffing issue.   I normally
use the plan handle from sys.dm_exec_requests to get a 'cached' plan handle number and use DBCC FREEPROCCACHE (xxxxxxxxxxx) to kill it. However, I would expect the same plan handle number from sys.dm_exec_cached_plans for that query but
it is not. So this leads me to think that I may not be removing the plan I really want.
Besides answering my 'why they are different' question, I also like to know if my way of removing a cached plan is correct or not. Please advice as well.

Thanks for the reply. I think I find the answer to my question. The correct fact is that dm_exec_requests, dm_exec_cached_plans and even your suggested dm_exec_query_stats all find the same plan handler If I search by the plan hander number.
If I search by the query content (st.text) , it either doesn't return any record or return records with a different plan handler number.   Let me show you what I use and may be you can correct it.
SELECT plan_handle, st.text, cacheobjtype, objtype
FROM sys.dm_exec_cached_plans
CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(plan_handle) AS st
WHERE st.text LIKE N' select lastName, FirstName %'
If I search the actual plan handler number, it would find that cached plan.

FROM sys.dm_exec_cached_plans
CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(plan_handle) AS st

Couple points about the query using the text name for searching. First the query was copied from one of the SQL expert blog so I assume it is working. Secondly, the actual query text I use is straight out from a query result using
the following query so I am not guessing what the actual query format it may be.
select r.session_id, r.status,
r.start_time, r.command, s.text, r.plan_handle
from sys.dm_exec_requests r
cross apply sys.dm_exec_sql_text(r.sql_handle) s
Let me know if there is a proper way to search for a cached plan by the query content if there is one. This is important because sometimes I may not have a plan handle number to work with and yet I need to kill a cached plan for a particular sql query
so the only thing I have is the query itself.
By the way, my long running query is not a stored procedure. It is a query sending from a web application.

Data Modeler: Problems with importin from DDL and Designer

I have a few problems with importing models from Designer and DDL:
1. Can I import spatial indexes from Designer or DDL file? An index does appear in the model but it doesn’t seem to be a spatial index. When trying to import from database, the index doesn’t appear in the model at all.
2. Is it possible to import sdo_geometry data types from DDL file? I haven’t succeeded with it, instead the column's data type appears unknown.
3. Sometimes import from DDL files (that are generated with DM) failed with nothing appearing to the model. I haven’t figured out why that happens. I didn’t receive any error message, the model just opened empty.
4. DM doesn’t seem to recognize public synonym creation from DDL. View log gives the following message:

CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TABLE1
FOR TABLE1
5. Sequences lose their properties when importing from Designer. They only have a name but but start with, increment by and min/max values are empty in DM. Importin from DDL works fine.
